ChuckCheese Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 edit by Wilderness - I know this is not Linkin Park news, but for me this is newsworthy. Avenged Sevenfold are a big band to me, and The Rev was such an amazing musician and was responsible for some of the greatest tracks they ever put out. You will be missed Jimmy... I am glad I got to see you when I did. RIP. The drummer of Avenged Sevenfold has passed away at the age of 28.....terrible news indeed. HUNTINGTON BEACH James Owen Sullivan, a drummer and backup vocalist for the Southern California band Avenged Sevenfold, was found dead at his home on Monday, authorities have confirmed. Sullivan, who went by the stage name The Rev, appears to have died of natural causes, Huntington Beach police Lt. John Domingo said. Police were notified by firefighters who had responded to Sullivan's home about 1 p.m. Sullivan was 28. The Orange County Coroner's Office is investigating the death. Avenged Sevenfold formed in Huntington Beach in 1999. Sullivan was a member from the beginning. Since then, the five-man group has put out four albums and won Best New Artist at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2006. The group's self-titled fourth album hit No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart in 2007. According to a message posted by Zacky Vengeance on the band's MySpace page, the group was hard a work on a fifth album. By Monday evening, whispers about Sullivan's death had spread to the band's fan sites on the Internet, which quickly filled with messages of condolence. http://www.ocregister.com/news/sullivan-22...ch-drummer.html http://blogs.laweekly.com/westcoastsound/n...d-drummer-dead/ Quote

ChuckCheese Posted December 29, 2009 Author Posted December 29, 2009 I saw them early this year, really grateful that I did now. A7X is one of my favorite bands, and The Rev was just simply an amazing musician all around. I'm not sure what the band will do without him. Quote
Projektion Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Damn, I really wanted to see them live, the Rev was the drummer I looked up to the most, he was where I got most of my techniques from, including starting to twirl drumsticks while playing. RIP Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan. Quote

Rob_Wilson Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Glad you posted this on the main page! Really gutted about this, but glad I got to see them before he passed away. What I can't understand is why were firefighters there if he died of natural causes :/ Quote
Papelbon Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Glad you posted this on the main page! Really gutted about this, but glad I got to see them before he passed away. What I can't understand is why were firefighters there if he died of natural causes :/In America, if you call 911 and there is a medical emergency, you get Cops, Firemen, and EMS. Specifically, in the City of Huntington Beach, the FD runs the ambulance service, being why the "firefighters" are there. BTW, unless there was a known medical history, no 28 y/o dies of "natural causes", thats a complete line of bullshit... Quote
luki9875 Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 I've seen that on a7x myspace this morning very very bad he was so talented.... and 28 years old... damn R.I.P. [*] Quote
