Did you guys see in the band Q&A Mike said Massive's vocals were a guide track for Chester like the BTH demo? Interesting, because Mike sounds great on it.

This means that, at some point, it was planned that Chester would sing in Massive?

That makes sense because wasn't Mike hesitant to sing lead on tracks on Minutes to Midnight? That being said the verses feel so tailor made for Mike's range so it'd feel strange to hear Chester on them, the chorus does feel like a big Chester chorus tho.

It's hard for us to believe that from Mike since So Far Away is so cool and then No Roads Left happened after the Meteora album, so Massive seems so normal. Mike is VERY "meh" about Massive by his comments on Twitch and in person at the Q&A lol

I don't know, man. The vocals on Massive sound to me exactly like what Mike said they were - reference vocals for Chester. Like, he sounds fine - good, even - but it feels like people are getting carried away by pointing to this 20-year-old reference vocal take and using it as proof that Mike can carry the band. It reads to me like hype over a new song going way overboard.

To expand a little more, maybe it's the mix or the (likely?) lack of mastering, but Mike's vocals on the chorus in particular have no power at all. It sounds to me like the same voice he uses on the Breaking the Habit demo, and while it's admittedly a lot more obvious there that the vocals are just placeholders, it still feels pretty evident here. I think Mike's singing voice can go over heavy music, but Massive certainly isn't proof of that in my view.

I wasn't able to find the previous list of all images they released on the Meteora wall, so I am not 100% sure, but I think these are new:

There's some really great stuff here. There was even enough in the Lost Demos to fill out a Meteora track listing I'd actually listen to front to back lol

And I definitely prefer the 2023 mix of Lost to the 2002 one.

I prefer the 2002 mix of Lost. It’s not that I think the 2023 mix is bad at all, it’s just that the song was made in 2002 originally so it’s so much more authentic and nostalgic for me. The 2023 mix is still beautiful having a more modern and fresh sound, while keeping that classic LP vibe. It also really highlights Chester’s incredible vocals on that song so much better. But the original mix is just so much more powerful to me for some reason.

The new mix sounds like a mix of Minutes to Midnight, Living Things, and Meteora, which is great but the original mix keeps the original vibe of Meteora, and it’s almost like hearing the album for the first time again with the 2002 mix. That’s why i prefer the OG Lost over the updated mix, but both of them are beautiful.

It's all subjective, and I think a big part of it is what era of the band is your personal favorite. Some of the people I see saying that they prefer the 2002 mix of Lost have made it clear in other threads that HT and Meteora are their favorite LP albums, so naturally the version of Lost that was mixed during that time for inclusion on Meteora sounds better to them.

Conversely, some of the people I see saying they prefer the 2023 mix of Lost have made it clear in other threads that the later albums are their favorite. That also makes logical sense.

Yeah it’s pretty clear that Lost new mix sounds like LT/THP (thinking of UIG) more than HT/M.

For Lost, I think I like the sound of the 2002 mix better, but the keyboards in the chorus are louder in the 2023 mix, and I absolutely love that chorus sample, whatever it is, probably something Brad did because of the BBB soundbites clips we’ve heard. I think both mixes are pretty split for me in terms of which one I think sounds better. For the song itself, 2002 mix. The 2023 mix is definitely more emotional though.

I do wonder if the Thoughts That Take Away My Pride demo version actually exists. Be interesting to hear. I’m not counting on it though. The final lyrics were better anyways, though hearing early versions of songs is cool too.

Fighting Myself and More The Victim never got mixed back in the day, but I imagine the original rough mixes wouldn’t sound too different than the ones today. Just judging on Lost, which kept its vibe in the new mix.

And Where the hell is Sick, the Don’t Stay demo!? LPU just Maybe..? Only time will tell but honestly after this release I don’t think we need any more Meteora demos. This 20th Anniversary basically uncovered everything we didn’t know before about Meteora.

You're also forgetting about Nocturnal, the demo of "Nobody's Listening".

true. That one too.

Also Shortcut, the Fighting Myself demo was used in the Work in Progress DVD at some point. I remember hearing it.

There’s also the alternate rap version of “Plaster 2” as well that I forgot to mention.

i just received my boxset last week. after a month of waiting. honestly loves the boxset. considering it's the same price as before, it's great. but there's few thing that i need to highlights: (ps: this is my opinion okay?)

1. the Vinyls. HT20 vinyls in the deluxe boxset & vinyl boxset is the same, which both has the gatefold cover for HT, Reanimation and HTEP. while for M20, the vinyls is different for deluxe boxset and vinyl boxset. i love the gatefold version cuz it looks much better and presentable.

2. the CDs. it's great how they put the cd inside the big giant book but make it separate much way better. now i have to open the book many times just to take the cds out. 😂 also, the 3-CD packs has great artworks on the cd itself.

3. the Misc items. M20 doesnt have cassette, only have 1 lithograph, sticker quality not really great. easy to crumple/torn. the stencils? it's great but im not sure how many will use it. i rather keep it that way. 😂

Well, the new thing added: FREE LPU MEMBERSHIP for A YEAR! that's good enough since LPU revamp this year.

Overall, i love the boxset & the items inside it. i might consider to buy the Vinyl Boxset after this.
