Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, the time has finally come. That's fucking right, Fort Minor is back, baby! Performing their first full show since 2006's Summer Sonic Chiba show, Fort Minor will be performing the first one-man show (featuring none other than Mike Shinoda) at The Exchange in Los Angeles, California on June 29, 2015. Who'd of thought I'd be here, right now, typing up a pre-show post about Fort Minor in 2015? Let's get right into it.

For those asking, "What the hell man, this is a Linkin Park website. Who cares about whoever Fart Major (or whatever their name is) is doing?" Well, you sass-filled fan, let me fill you in: Fort Minor is Linkin Park emcee Mike Shinoda's side project, based around hip-hop. Back in 2005, they released their album The Rising Tied with Styles Of Beyond to huge success, featuring singles including the massively popular 'Where'd You Go' and 'Remember The Name'. A bunch of other treasures were released within that album, including the recollection of 'Kenji' and the huge jams of 'In Stereo' and 'There They Go'. The band then toured selectively across North America, Europe, and Asia in support of it, concluding the era in summer of 2006. The group also released a mixtape entitled 'We Major', featuring some fan favorites like 'Spraypaint & Inkpens' and '100 Degrees'. Now that you know what's up, here's some knowledge.

Since Fort Minor hasn't really performed a *full* show in the past nine years (but who's counting, right?), let's talk about what they have done when they were doing their thing. A good half of their discography has been performed live (as documented in our Live Debuts thread), yet a number of tracks haven't seen the light of day yet. From The Rising Tied, 'Back Home', 'Kenji', and 'Slip Out The Back' are only a few of the tracks not performed. We Major has even more songs that have never made the limelight, including '100 Degrees', 'Spraypaint & Inkpens,' 'Be Somebody', and more. Granted, a number of them have been performed over extended intros and outros for 'Points Of Authority' throughout 2007, 2008, and 2009: namely 'Bloc Party' and 'Respect 4 Grandma'. 'Cigarettes', another track off of The Rising Tied, has barely been performed, only as the first verse a cappella starting in Taipei 2006. That's not to say Fort Minor hasn't brought out any goodies during their shows. 'Enth E Nd', the remix of 'In The End' from Reanimation saw some love during Fort Minor shows - the only times the song was ever performed! 'Numb/Encore' from Collision Course also got performed, as well as 'Mr. Brown' by Styles Of Beyond. Even 'It's Goin' Down', a song the featured Linkin Park by the X-Ecutioners in 2001, was performed! And, if Mike isn't overhyping us, this show is expected to pack some awesome surprises too!

It's not a true foreshadowing for what's to come at this show, but let's take a second to remember the band's most recent show - Summer Sonic 2006, in Chiba, Japan. While we don't know the full setlist, we know a little about it. Fort Minor performed songs like 'It's Goin' Down', 'Enth E Nd', and 'Believe Me'. Opening with 'Remember The Name' featuring a long intro, you can tell the show is going to be huge. Holly Brook (now Skylar Grey) could not make the trip to Japan last minute, leaving no one to guest on 'Where'd You Go'... just kidding. Mike actually pulled double-duty at the Summer Sonic shows - after Fort Minor performed, Linkin Park hit up the mainstage! So, in place of Holly Brook, Chester came out to sing 'Where'd You Go', even changing the lyric 'I miss you so' to 'I just don't know'!

While we're at it, let's talk about a little Linkin Park! Summer Sonic 2006 had a bunch of surprises littered in the setlists. The band used the shows as an escape from the studio, since they were in the middle of recording their then-new album, Minutes To Midnight. While no MTM songs were performed, we did get some rarities. The live debuts of the piano versions of 'My December' and 'Pushing Me Away' made their debuts. 'Reading My Eyes', an old Xero song dating back before the days where the band were called Hybrid Theory, was brought back out from the ashes! A brand new song, 'QWERTY', was also debuted, bringing the heavy in the equation! These shows were also the first to not feature 'One Step Closer' as the closing song - instead, it closed the main set. 'Breaking The Habit' took the honor of closing the show, instead. Summer Sonic was one hell of a time to be a Linkin Park fan (and, to a lesser extent, Mike Shinoda)!

Flash forward to the present: 2015. Fort Minor is back! In case you've missed the big comeback, here's what you need to get caught up on: the new single, 'Welcome', complete with its 360-video, Mike's solo performance of the song on Conan, and it's inclusion on the latest Linkin Park setlists. 'Welcome' is the first new Fort Minor material we've received since The Rising Tied - almost a decade! The reason for that being that Fort Minor found its way into the world of Linkin Park, as evidenced by tracks like 'Waiting For The End', 'Hands Held High', and 'Until It Breaks'. His solo performance on Conan (his first ever solo performance!) went off perfectly - totally confident and well rehearsed! Great job again, Mike! On their short Mexico excursion, 'Welcome' and a new, shortened version of 'Remember The Name' found their way into the setlists. While those two aren't much of a surprise, we can expect to see them performed at this show. As for bigger surprises, we may be in store for some.

In a recent interview with Billboard, Mike revealed that he's looking forward to play songs like 'Petrified', 'In Stereo', and, more surprisingly, 'Kenji' and 'Cigarettes'! A direct quote from the man himself: "There are songs I want to play because I feel they're really fun sonically or lyrically, like "Petrified" or "In Stereo." On the other hand, when I toured with Fort Minor 10 years ago, I never really played "Cigarettes" or "Kenji" that often, and this time those were the two songs I was most excited to play because I feel like they say the most." Mike's also said he'll definitely flip things up by playing some remixes! In a Spotify playlist, Mike had some songs listed... could this be the setlist? Definitely some weird ones in there... 'The Last Line' and 'Devil's Drop' from the MALL Soundtrack, Linkin Park tracks like 'Hands Held High', 'When They Come For Me', and 'Until It Breaks', remixes from Reanimation and Recharged like 'H! Vltg3' and the 'I'll Be Gone' Vice Remix are just a few. If this IS the setlist, what are you most looking forward to hearing?

What about the future of Fort Minor? What happens next? Well, we can't say anything for certain. Mike has claimed that there isn't anymore Fort Minor music or an album planned (at the moment), but the door is definitely still open for more music - at least, it won't be another decade for more Fort Minor music. On the touring spectrum, Mike has said he'll definitely be playing a few shows - it will take him awhile to adjust to and getting used to performing solo, as he said. Rumors are already circulating: will Fort Minor be heading to Europe in August or September, amidst the Linkin Park tour there. What do you think? Is more Fort Minor music on the horizon? After the whole misunderstanding between Mike and Ryu, it seems the two have come to terms on Fort Minor - will Ryu's mystery verse appear on an upcoming remix of 'Welcome'? Will Fort Minor only play a few select shows in promotion of 'Welcome', or is a full-fledged tour on the horizon? Only time will tell!

Who's excited?! I've said it before, but I'll say it again: Fort Minor is back! Hopefully we'll see a lot more activity and a bunch more tour dates soon. The setlist will definitely be a lot of fun to cover! After this show, Mike flies to Milwaukee to perform with Linkin Park at the Summerfest with A Day To Remember the day after this show to wrap up their North American Summer Tour. In July, Linkin Park will be embarking on a tour in China before heading to Europe in August and September. The band wraps up The Hunting Party Tour in November, with one final show in Tempe, Arizona at the Monster Mash Festival. BTW This is one of my favorite preshow posts ever, can't wait for some videos of the show.

Looks like they still havent sold out the show yet since i got an email about buying tix

I'm really curious about the set, who will perform, who will be there to watch, and what other goings-ons there will be at the event.

keep watching the LPL twitter and facebook account, I will try to give as many updates from the show and the meet&greet before the show as possible!

Soundcheck included WYG, High Road, RTN, Believe Me. Last 2 were shortened.

During the Meet & Greet, Mike said that there "might be more Fort Minor songs coming. Welcome was just like an opener and now it will be easier to release more songs."
