  1. I love this setlist(with The Catalyst added in there of course) because it kicks ass and has almost all of ATS in it. The setlist finally comes to the United States. All the people moaning about it, you honestly have no reason to because you're not at the show but stalking the band online.
  2. Why do they need to collaborate with any rappers period? I think Linkin Park is quite capable of producing their own rap and hip-hop if they wanted to go in that direction without having any guest artist and it would sound cooler because it would have LP's spin on it. Anything else would be just cliche at this point.
  3. I must be like the only one who actually loves it when an artist goes up on stage and plays a setlist with songs that sound drastically different from each other live. I hope everything you say come through. A new album with a completely different sound from ATS and their other albums sounds divine. I live for new experiences and LP has yet to disappoint.
  4. Dude, what's up with the contradictions galore going on with your whole statement. How can they have a generic setlist that is void of their old stuff(which i'm sure you're referring to HT & Meteroa.) In fact, in order for something to be considered "generic Linkin Park" it would have to be something that is like/or from Hybrid Theory because that was the album that established their original sound with everything that came after at, only expanding it.
  5. Wow! You're like the first person who seem to have gotten the ATS & HT connection. I thought i was the only one who noticed the whole shift that happened with ATS being almost like HT reversed but with a new spin to keep it fresh.
  6. The fact that you had to go back and listen to each song and time how much vocal input a Mike and Chester have is beyond ridiculous. I honestly for the life of me cannot understand what the big deal is with who sings and does what in the band. This sort of anal act would be considered insanity in some circles.
  7. No one is bashing the song. Some of us just think that people make too much of a big deal over it like its the best song the band has every written.
  8. I'm with Chester. Spontaneity is so much better than repeating your past steps and ideas. I want something totally new that i don't see coming. I can't wait to see them on the 26th. And that sucks that Chester wasn't feeling very well in the beginning of the tour. He knows how to hide stuff.
  9. Mike definitely needs to practice some more live because i dig his performance on the album so very much. And dude, i could never do what you do. If i am not enjoying every inch of the journey, i would quit it, needless dedicate and sacrifice the time to perfect something. Kudos. Some people just don't care about the sort of mastering you talk about. Some people's version of perfect is being competent. For me, i hate limiting myself. I want to do everything i'm interested in. I want to learn how to play a piano, a guitar, a violin and so forth. Knowing how to play them would be good enough for me. Nope. And i doubt he'd want too. And after all, Mike isn't the only original founder of the band. There is Brad and Rob who needs to be contended with. I think it takes a certain alignment of the stars to create the perfect synergy and combination that works. Unless the new additions were a result of the stars aligning once again, it wouldn't work and you can't force it.
  10. I don't think Mike thinks he's an excellent singer or an excellent anything. Yes, Chester is the better singer by a mile. I didn't know that was ever up for debate. It's like a duh moment. Mike barely started singing and its not his most comfortable position. Mind you, there is a difference between being a good singer and preferring a singers voice. I don't care for Axl Rose's voice or Layne Staley's but i know Layne could sing. Mike far from hit all the notes he's supposed to on the songs. Even he knows that. And i doubt he would have started singing at all, needless on ATS if his band mates didn't prod him or felt it was what they wanted out of him. I don't think you're interpreting Mike's curiosity with trying different things the proper way. I honestly doubt that he plays instruments and does what he does because he wants to be good at everything. He seems to me like the kind of person who would get bored easily if he had to stick to playing one instrument or doing on thing for a long time even if he becomes good at it. Personally, i think Mike singing was a long time coming and should have happened sooner. Now all he needs to do is improve upon it. He would never have a range bigger than he has but he doesn't need to. I love how his voice goes well with Chester's and is part of my favourite things about ATS.
  11. People exaggerate way too much on the whole Mike writes all the stuff for LP especially on ATS. You hear a piano? It's all Mike's work. You hear beats? It's all Mike's work blah blah blah... It reminds me of the early previews of ATS from some fans. One of them called ATS, Fort Minor featuring Linkin Park or Chester. After i listened to the album, i started wondering what that fan was smoking or if they were referring to When Chester joined Mike to sing Where'd you go on tour. I mean really, ATS FM with a side of LP? So because Mike is singing instead of rapping, it is automatically FM ft. LP? Another thing that makes me laugh is the whole "Mike is singing way too much instead of Chester who is singing less." I ask you this, did you ever listen to Hybrid Theory or Meteora? Substitute all of Mike's rapping parts on those albums with singing and you have the same amount of vocal input from Mike. Because he's singing, you pay more attention and over emphasize and give it more weight than it actually has. The only time Mike's vocal input reduced was on MTM. It's always been the same. He's either rapping or singing. Personally, i think that was the natural progression.
  12. It's not that i hate Transformers, its just that the second one was one of the worst films in history. And if tradition continues, the 3rd one would be just as equally terrible. I don't want it to, but its the same script writers who have the same 6 year old playground humor with the same cast of boring and lifeless characters, and the same director who seems like he doesn't know how to manage a big budget and the same shitty editors.e.t.c You get it. Same ingredients are bound to make the same thing. Getting rid of Megan Fox was a good move until they just replaced her with another bimbo who was hired solely to be the obligatory sex object. They should have fired the whole cast and started fresh. I'm willing to pretend the last one never happened.
  13. Keyword dude is song, not interludes. ATS only has 9 songs.
  14. Worst news ever! I hope it remains a rumor and doesn't come true even if the promotion for ATS would be awesome but its so not worth it. I like Michael Bay for having good taste in the band but that is all i like him for. Until he gets a new script writer and fires himself and get a new director and a new cast and better CGI artists, Transformers and Michael Bay need to stay away from LP and any of their music. I understand he loves the band, but can he try and keep his personal taste and shitty movie business separate. And i hope LP actually don't let him use their song unless they've seen the movie and it doesn't make them want to shoot themselves. Edit: Oh, can someone explain to me why would they need to change the single if this horrible rumor becomes true? I don't understand why they couldn't just release it anyway, soundtrack or not even though i love every song of ATS and think they should all be singles.
  15. What the hell are you talking about? Chicago is definitely not in the middle of the country. Have you looked at a map? It's more northeast and further away for people coming from the far west. All the LP fans who live in the northeast region of the country have no trouble getting there and don't have to spend much to get there if they flew. And even if the aim had been to have the summit in the middle of the northern continent so that the Canadian fans could come too, it still is far from being in the middle by a long shot.
  16. I am super excited. I am all set to fly out to Chicago for the summit and concert and can't wait. I hope with my GA tickets, i can finally be able to be at the barrier for the first time as we get first entry into the venue since i'm so short. If that happens, i will make sure to be an LPU member for life no matter what as a show of my eternal gratitude. I can't wait to see Mike in person again. Hopefully he doesn't make fun of my voice again in front of so many people. I would almost die of the embarrassment. I am going to start from today to make sure nothing in my real life tries to rear its ugly head and conflict with it.
  17. Yep, try not to be the people who think they're too cool to have fun and just stand there like a stick stuck in cement. Let loose and enjoy yourself. You paid for the tickets and the experience. Might as well make the most of it. Just have fun. Do you have seating tickets? If so, then you don't have to show up early. Try to make the opening acts. They are always fun to see. And make sure to take care of your bodily functions before LP starts because you don't want to miss out on a single minute because you had to go to the toilet. p.s: what sort of info were you fishing for? like is there something specific you want to know?
  18. If all goes well and nothing comes out of left field that absolutely calls for priority over any sort of fun in my life such as my BASW program, then i am all set to go and will see you guys who can make it there. Should be interesting.
  19. That's wicked cool! For the record, i thought you stood out the moment you appeared on screen. Very collected. Congratulations on getting what you wanted after 7 long years. I don't know how you did it. I would have gone mad if i had to wait to see LP live for that long. I would probably have journeyed abroad. This LPTV is in my top five.
  20. I expect the band to surprise me the way they did with ATS. MtM and Meteora were good, but there was nothing special about those albums. HT and ATS was their most exciting albums in terms of what they presented. I expect an album that is entirely the LP we've known since 2000 but the elements are presented in such a different and creative way that it seems like the band took another left turn when in fact, they were merely building upon the bricks they already laid and inverted HT and MtM to make their sound new and fresh.
  21. Great story. I enjoyed reading that very much. It's like basically living through you. I'm glad you had a great time with the band. I do recommend you do a little grammar/mostly spelling editing here and there as i'm sure you were typing this at the speed of light with all that excitement fueling you. But a little correction would be helpful for those whose first language may not be English and might have a tough time filling in the blanks and before any one from the band possibly reading it. Other than that, you painted a nice picture of your experience. Cheers!
  22. What a great interview. And such a fortunate person. Sounds like a nice fellow too. Hope he has as much fun as possible and enjoy the moment. Can't wait to see his pictures from the tour.
  23. You're totally right. The Requiem/W&K is not a heavy hitting song but it is still the best intro I've seen them play live. I think you would have to see it live in person to appreciate the ambiance and mood it sets. And for the ATS tour, it is the best opener that represents the bands tone for the tour. As the note rises and increaser to the vocals appear, it builds up quite well. I actually loved it even better when they had The Requiem transition into The Radiance leading into New Divide like the NYC show. If they opened the show with an old song or intro, it would be the definition of boring because they've done it before. I want something new for this new era of LP and none of those songs sets the right tone with the exception of WID in my opinion. In the end, i'll be fine with whatever LP chooses because just the painful waiting for them to take the stage makes any intro cool because it's like "finally, the band is playing" I won't even care what song they start with.
  24. Now that 2010 is over, i can reflect properly on the best LP related stuff. At the top of the list for sure is getting to listen to ATS for the first time from start to finish and then leave it on replay for the rest of the year. It was the most satisfying album i have ever listened too. Definitely the best present LP could give to their fans. The other one was going to the NYC release concert. I have always wanted to see the band in a small venue and i got my wish. It was very small and intimate. I got chills from the first time the curtains parted and revealed Mike to when the notes of The Requiem started playing and the creepy vocals singing the lyrics of The Catalyst.. Such a great opener. The rest was just too wonderful to put into words. And i guess the rest is just watching the progress of LP's ATS tour across the ocean. I enjoyed following their tour and all the little surprises they had for each show. Most of all, i just loved reading the experiences of all the fans from this community from the tour. I sure lived through the ones who were at the LPU Summit.
