Nope! That one's news to me. Also very surprised to see Andy Wallace in the studio with them (and DAMN does he look old these days!). Kind of interested to see how he and Manny are each involved this time around (it's already been confirmed that Manny's in the studio with LP from that interview that mentions them recording a song for a movie). Maybe one is mixing the new album and the other is mixing the Mall soundtrack music?

I'll say that Larrabee is ONE of the places the new album is being recorded...but it wasn't the location I was referring to. I don't know how much of the album is being recorded in each specific location (Mike and Joe's home studios, Larrabee, and...??? ), so Larrabee might be the "main" location, it might not be. And again, they're not recording at NRG at all this time around. Whether that's intentional or just the way things happened to work out, we'll probably never know. Also, the fact that they're recording at Larrabee means that (probably bursting a lot of people's bubbles here...) Manny Marroquin will likely be mixing the album again. Larrabee is kind of his "home studio" where he does mixing for a lot of the pop artists he's worked with. He actually mixed Living Things there as well. This is a totally different situation though, with the band actually recording there. It could mean one of two things: Manny's more involved in the recording process this time around instead of being "just the mixing guy," OR it could mean that the band wants to work more closely with him on this album, as having him around during tracking may give him a better reference point for the final mix, which hopefully would result in a better production than Living Things. Speaking of Manny on a kind of unrelated note, I know we were just talking about Victorious being the working title for ALTNC, and lo and behold, Manny's discography section on his website confirms it outright: http://www.mannymarroquin.com/Discography.php "LINKIN PARK Single "Victorious (A Light That Never Comes)" on "Recharged" album" I believe this is also the first confirmation that Manny actually mixed ALTNC to begin with.

I think the most accurate thing for Wake Me Up would be "Guitar Production by Mike Shinoda." Executive producer kind of implies that he had some overall influence on the entire track, which isn't really accurate. He just engineered one specific part of the song, but it's probably more accurate to call him a producer than an engineer since he also handled the Pro Tools recording.

I'd be interested, if for no other reason than not having to watch it on Youtube anymore.

Re-recorded/additional vocals for remixes
Astat replied to Skipees's topic in Everything Linkin Park
Reanimation was about 50/50. VERY little of Collision Course was re-recorded. The first LP verses of Dirt Off Your Shoulder/Lying From You and Jigga What/Faint, the LP vocals in Big Pimpin'/Papercut and Izzo/In the End, and Mike taking the second verse on 99 Problems...I think that was it. A lot of the footage of them recording vocals on the Collision Course DVD was just staged for the sake of filming - Chester definitely didn't re-record any vocals on One Step Closer as shown on the DVD, and I don't think ANY of Jay-Z's vocals were redone. -
Yes, it was the same one from the SIB single. I thought for a long time that it was the KROQ 2000 performance because I randomly had a higher-quality version of that song than any other songs from that show, but it turns out I just had a crappy rip of the webcast. Wretches and Kings was in EA Sports MMA, not sure if it was an alternate mix though: Here are Youtube links for the other 2 tracks: - Blackout - The Catalyst (starts at 7:30)

Is it just me, or did they shorten the Bleed it Out drum solo/"battle" on the TV/Youtube broadcast? -

Here's the full setlist of the AXS TV broadcast, including the other bands, for anyone who's interested: The Filharmonic - Lupang Hinirang (Philippine National Anthem) Linkin Park - One Step Closer Bad Religion - Los Angeles is Burning Bad Religion - Infected Heart - Crazy on You (Acoustic) The Offspring - Bad Habit The Offspring - The Kids Aren't Alright Linkin Park - CASTLE OF GLASS (feat. Ann and Nancy Wilson) Linkin Park - What I've Done (feat. Mike Einziger) Linkin Park - In the End (feat. Mike Einziger) Linkin Park - BURN IT DOWN Linkin Park - Bleed it Out (feat. Travis Barker) -
Breaking the Habit Given Up Lies Greed Misery Ballad Medley I can barely listen to Numb without wanting to puke anymore, but I'll begrudgingly let it stay because of the great response it always gets. Also, Given Up can stay under ONE condition: It's only played as an opening song in combination with Wake. It'd be a cool MTM era throwback to open some concerts that way on this cycle, and having that song as the opener is really the best spot for it to be, in terms of Chester's voice being able to tolerate it.

Wrong. The guitars are there, and have always been there, for every performance of the "regular" version of that song. They're pretty low in the mix on the more recent DSP recordings, and Brad and Phoenix stay off the stage throughout most of the song (they still come out for the last chorus), but they're still playing the whole time. And Phoenix plays guitar on LOATR, not bass. Plexiglass drum shield. These things come in all kinds of shapes and sizes, ranging from small square ones like this to giant walls that wrap around an entire drumset. Serves two purposes, makes the drumset easier to mic since it blocks out more of the ambient sound from bleeding into the mics, and it also cuts down on the volume of the drums on stage. The cymbal behind the shield Rob uses is the larger/louder of his two crash cymbals. It's probably the loudest piece of his kit, so it makes sense that if anything on his kit would have a shield, that would be it.

Why would anyone think this is going to be webcasted when it's already been streamed via mobile devices, there's been absolutely NO indication of a webcast taking place, and furthermore, why would people even WANT a webcast at this point when a rip of the mobile stream already exists, and TV quality is going to better than any webcast would be anyway? Linkin Park fans: Inexplicably expecting webcasts of every fucking show since 2008(ish). -
My least favorite member of Linkin Park is the keytar. Fucking Kenny Loggins, man.

They're also using footage of all of the performers in the promo video: We might only get like 2 songs from this, lol. They could still potentially put the whole thing up on Youtube though. -
There will only be one show in that gap, probably on the 4th. The band avoids playing 3 shows in a row whenever possible these days. Hopefully they add some more shows after Download, because otherwise they're only playing 9 or 10 shows right now.

Some great information via the latest LP.com email: Following the AXS.tv broadcast on the 15th, the entire Concert For the Philippines will be uploaded to the Music For Relief Youtube channel! The TV broadcast is at 8 PM Eastern, for anyone who plans to watch it. Very happy to know I'll be able to watch the HQ version of this show whenever I want! -
So the "no links to copyrighted material" rule is now "no links to places where there incidentally happen to be links to copyrighted material that were posted by other people?" Well guess what? Here's a link where you can find links to just about every piece of copyrighted material that's ever been pirated on the Internet: http://www.google.com OH NOES BETTER DELETE THAT LINK TOO

I'm not putting a lot of faith into some of what's being said here, or at least not in the way a lot of people will probably interpret it: 1. The whole "jamming" thing. They might get a usable guitar riff or drum break or something to that effect out of a free-form jam session that's subsequently refined into a song later, but it's no secret that the guys in Linkin Park aren't particularly improvisational musicians. Their live shows and their often ill-fated attempts at doing something unrehearsed are a testament to that. 2. The album being self-produced. It was reported back in December of 2012 that Rick Rubin would be involved with this album. Since then, Mike's posted a photo from a session he did at Rick's house, and Rick's done a remix of ALTNC. I'd be shocked if Rick's name doesn't end up on the final product (perhaps as an "executive producer" rather than a traditional production credit), and I have a hunch one of LP's longtime studio collaborators may also be getting a bit of a "promotion" of sorts when the liner notes for this album are revealed. 3. Tracking to tape. This IS something that still exists in 2014, but not in the sense most people think of. If you're tracking to tape these days, it's purely for the sound that tape produces. Nobody WANTS to edit/mix/master a record in analog anymore, it's a nightmare. They're probably using a machine that tracks simultaneously to tape and Pro Tools, allowing them to do their usual editing process while capturing the sound of an analog recording. If you were to go off of the old SPARS codes, this kind of recording would use the ADD abbreviation - analogue recording, digital mixing, digital mastering. Anyway, I suppose I'll provide a little more information: This album is being recorded in multiple locations, kind of like how Living Things was, except the "central" location is no longer NRG. For the sake of keeping information confidential that's probably supposed to stay that way for the time being, I won't say what the new location is, but it's pretty easy to figure out if you cross-reference social media posts from the LP members with those of some of their longtime crew members. (Side note: Nobody straight-up TOLD me where the album's being recorded, I just did some digging and figured it out myself.) They've also been doing recording at Mike and Joe's houses, like usual.

Let me guess, I'm gonna watch this, and the guy's going to sound nothing like Chester. *Edit* Video won't work for me anyway.

Hahahaha. I didn't catch where it said this show is on the 5th in the first post, so I was confused how people were coming to the conclusion that LP's Rock Am Ring date is on the 7th.

1. Pretty sure the "album recording" situation mentioned in the announcement strictly refers to LP's current situation. STP recording a full-length album is nothing more than a "we're planning on it" type thing at this point, as far as I'm aware. This is probably a situation like when the Grey Daze reunion show was cancelled in 2002 due to the Meteora recording schedule being dictated by WB (not that WB is necessarily behind it THIS time, but there are still deadlines involved in any label-backed recording project, and LP's last couple albums haven't really fared well enough compared to other WB releases for the label to be lenient with giving them extensions). 2. Re: Chester having more fun with STP vs. LP - Chester always has fun on stage, provided he's not feeling like crap for one reason or another. However, it's not hard to objectively watch the progression of Linkin Park's live performances over the last few years and figure out that they're completely phoning it in the majority of the time for a while now. That's been going on since like the middle of the ATS period. 3. Anyone who says that this cancelled tour is a good thing needs a serious reality check (or punch in the face, that would probably suffice as well). Forget calling yourself an LP and/or STP fan, you don't even deserve to call yourself a MUSIC fan if you're so far removed from reality that you think it's a good thing that thousands of fans bought tickets to these shows and now don't get to see STP play.
