  1. Asia, you're back in the spotlight! Mike's expanding this summer's Post Traumatic Asian Tour with a show in Incheon, South Korea at the annual Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival between August 10 and August 12! This is the fifth show on the tour thus far, with previously announced dates at Japan's Summer Sonic Festival, Thailand, and Hong Kong. Additional dates in China are also heavily rumored. This is another festival date, and the lineup is pretty intense, with Nine Inch Nails headlining and support from international acts including Suchmos (Japan) and The Bloody Beetroots (Italy). It's been awhile since Mike's been in South Korea - it's been almost 7 years since Linkin Park performed in Seoul on the A Thousand Suns World Tour in 2011. A pretty standard show as far as setlists go, with epic A Thousand Suns tracks 'When They Come For Me,' 'The Catalyst,' and 'Iridescent' all in the fray, but a great one as can always be expected in Asia. While it's been years since Mike's played there, other band members haven't stayed away: Mr. Hahn recently did a DJ set in Seoul in April of this year, celebrating the 10th anniversary of BOONTHESHOP. Koreans don't play around. Check out this awesome performance of 'In The End' from Seoul 2011. Anyone planning on going? It's not long before Mike hits the stage again, with a performance at Hollywood's Amoeba Records slated for June 14 (just before the release of Post Traumatic) and in Camden, New Jersey on June 30 for Radio 104.5's 11th Birthday Celebration. 2. Updated the main post with a list of all the currently announced ones.
  3. You have time to sleep, don't worry. But don't sleep for too long
  4. In case anyone missed it, parties for Mexico City, Madrid, Milan, and Moscow were announced.
  5. The singles-before-albums model is simply just a lot more effective than releasing one or two singles before an album. Like any industry, the music industry is fluid. That's why streaming became the dominant platform and vinyl is on a comeback. Things change. And while I can't say anything for certain, the band worked on MTM for ages. It was meant to be a big, if not surprising comeback. Dropping a single then the album coming out shortly thereafter is riding off the coattails of that hype. And in the case of Post Traumatic, the album wasn't even finished until early this month. That means from May 12 to June 15, they have just over a month to make the CDs, make the vinyls, get the packages set, get the advertisements ready, get it all shipped, get all of that set up internationally, and so forth. It only makes sense for Post Traumatic to have this drawn out cycle because Mike's still technically a developing new artist. Sure, he's in Linkin Park. That doesn't mean all the millions of fans LP has will go out of their way to listen to his music. He has to build a new audience and there's loads of behind-the-scenes stuff he has to do to make sure the album is ready for release day. And if you don't like pre-release tracks, then its up to you to not listen to them. Do what Mark does, just hold out. Just because they're released doesn't mean you're obligated to listen to them.
  6. As per an email, added a partial setlist to 2000.09.18 01. Cure For The Itch 02. Papercut xx. One Step Closer (closing track)
  7. LPU members, its your time. Mike's debut album Post Traumatic is out on June 15, and YOU have the chance to listen to it first. Mike will be hosting an LPU Listening Party on May 30th in Los Angeles. More global listening parties will be announced within the next week. Where would you like to see one held? Some of you have participated in listening parties before and have sent in great reviews and pictures from your experiences. LPU Members can sign up on the LPU site to be chosen to be part of the listening party. You'll be entered in a lottery and be given the chance to attend - you'll receive more details from there. Be sure to join the LPU if you haven't already, as you'll still get pre-sale access to Mike's upcoming tour dates. Mike finished the record earlier this month, in the days just before he performed on May 12. He held the first listening party on May 23, guests including Lisa Ling, Ben Hundreds, Boonn, Frank Maddocks, and more (as per his Instagram post). The following Listening Parties have been announced: Grimbergen, Belgium: June 7 Hamburg, Germany: June 5 Helsinki, Finland: June 6 Los Angeles, California: May 30 Madrid, Spain: June 6 Melbourne, Australia: June 7 Mexico City, Mexico: June 7 Milan, Italy: June 7 Moscow, Russia: June 7 Selangor, Malaysia: June 8 Stockholm, Sweden: June 11 Vienna, Austria: June 4 Anyone going to try and go? Post Traumatic will be here very very soon, so be sure to pre-order it if you haven't already. 8. Mike just won't stop! He is adding on to the Post Traumatic Tour with another show in Los Angeles - but this one will be a little more intimate. Mike is performing at Amoeba Records in Los Angeles, California on June 14th, the day before Post Traumatic is released. More information on the performance can be found here. This will be Mike's third performance in Los Angeles on his solo career, the first two, of course, being a few weeks ago on May 12: his debut performances. His first show ever was at the KROQ Weenie Roast in the afternoon, performing a short set featuring some live debuts before performing at Identity LA later in the night with many more surprises. Songs from the back catalogue including 'Sorry For Now' and 'Kenji' got their live debuts, while most of the currently released songs were performed (unfortunately barring 'Nothing Makes Sense Anymore' - hopefully we'll see that one in the solo headlining shows). Amoeba Records is a record store in LA, so it'll have a very different atmosphere. It's a much more intimate show than his festival performances, so you can definitely expect for a special feeling in the room. Mike could play an acoustic set there, but he could just as easily perform with his full setup as well. It'll be interesting to see what he does - and will we see 'Running From My Shadow' (out tomorrow) be performed for the first time? Other bands like the Deftones have performed at this record store. Will anyone be going? It'll definitely be a very cool experience to see Mike in such a unique setting! It's been quite awhile since we've seen a performance like this from anyone in the band. Mike's Post Traumatic Tour is slowly but surely shaping up. Following this performance, Mike will be heading to Philadelphia on June 30 to perform at Radio 104.5's 11th Birthday Celebration, which will be his first U.S. east coast show. After performing in Salt Lake City, Utah on July 28 at LoveLoud, he will embark on the first real leg of the tour in Asia, hitting Thailand, Hong Kong, Japan, and likely more before he then heads to Europe for some festivals. Be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook for the latest updates, and join the LPLive Discord for discussion with fans around the world! Check out the rest of Mike's touring schedule here.
  9. You've said this like 10 times already, but really, who cares if its pop? Do you really expect something different by saying it over and over again?
  10. We're gonna fucking jam. Though I'm taking a food break during Judah lmao Hopefully he does like, a headlining show at Terminal 5 in NYC or something. This'll be a shorter set like KROQ, I want that full experience
  11. The Post Traumatic Tour continues! We were all worried that it was going to take a long time for the end of July to come for another performance by Mike after his incredible live debut earlier this month, but that wait just got a little shorter! Mike is performing at Radio 104.5's 11th Birthday Celebration in Camden, New Jersey (Philadelphia) on June 30. Mike is the latest addition to the lineup. He'll be performing alongside headliners Imagine Dragons (who he will also perform with in Salt Lake City, Utah in July at Dan Reynolds' LoveLoud festival), as well as Judah & The Lion, indie-pop band AJR, indie rockers Sir Sly, and pop rock duo Missio. On the side stage, lesser known outfits The Wrecks, The Shelters, Dreamers (who you may remember from Chester's 2015 Spring US Tour with Stone Temple Pilots), and Glorious Suns. Quite a unique lineup! This will be the first time since 2014 that Mike will be in Camden/Philly. Linkin Park was to play there in August, but of course that sadly didn't happen. They last performed at the BB&T Pavilion (formerly known as the Susquehanna Bank Center, Tweeter Center @ The Waterfront, etc.) on the Carnivores Tour with Thirty Seconds To Mars, who are coincidentally headlining the other day of the festival. This show was livestreamed on Yahoo! Music, giving us one of the first pro-shots of the tour. And who could forget the legendary 2004 performance on Projekt Revolution? Now that's a classic show. This show needs no introduction. From the epic Gacela Intro of 'Don't Stay' to the transition between 'Figure.09' and 'From The Inside' to the Reanimated Bridge of 'One Step Closer' with Korn's Jonathan Davis, the Projekt Revolution show from Camden 2004 is an iconic performance by the band. Who's going to go? And more importantly - who am I going to see there? This will tentatively be the first show following the release of Post Traumatic (out on June 15), so we might see a live debut or two. And given that there's quite a gap between shows, perhaps Mike will add some more shows around the area as well. Things are definitely amping up! As mentioned before, after this show Mike will perform in Salt Lake City at the end of July before heading off to Asia for the first official leg of the Post Traumatic Tour, hitting stops in Thailand, Hong Kong, and Japan (and perhaps more on the way) and then Europe thereafter. LPLive will be hosting a Fan Meetup at this show - RSVP here... details on the timing and location soon. For all the updates on Mike and Linkin Park, be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook, and join the LPLive Discord for discussion on the band! Check out the rest of Mike's touring schedule here.
  12. I'm sold Boonn is grandson's guitarist, as far as I can tell.
  13. Fair enough. Probably doesn't mean anything though, likely just an oversight.
  14. I'm pretty sure that's because grandson specifically stylizes his name like that
  15. Man, even just reading the titles you really get a sense of a narrative. It's like he's speaking from an outside perspective watching himself go through it all. I just keep getting more excited for this album.
  16. Even Chester has had a vocal coach over the years. No matter how long you've been doing it, vocal coaches can always help. Look at Chester from the THP era to the OML era. Big difference live.
  17. Having a vocal coach doesn't mean changing his voice, it means improving upon what he's already got. It's clear that Mike struggles with some parts, so learning how to really control his voice will definitely help him perform. A vocal coach would improve the show loads.
  18. We already had a discussion about this in the team chat and figured Over Again/Papercut is best. After the 'Papercut' part was over it went back into the end of 'Over Again.'
  19. Setlist picture: If KROQ was the 30 minute set and this was the 50, I can't wait to see what the 90+ minute one in August will be like.
  20. What a day. Almost forgot the thrill of the brilliant mind of Mike Shinoda and his setlists. From the KROQ show to the very end of Identity LA there was nothing but passion and gratitude. Incredible that it hasn't even been a year and we're seeing him onstage with just as much as fire and passion as ever before, if not more. And goddamn, 'Sorry For Now' live is something I've wanted from the very first time I heard the song. And the note he hit at the end of it, incredible. I've never been more proud to be a fan of someone. It's like watching one of your best friends succeed in a way they've dreamed about for so long. Mike has always been my favorite of Linkin Park, and while he's definitely no Chester (and never will be), he's Mike Shinoda and today I saw the man who inspires me every day find a new light today. And I've never been happier for him. and just to recap something I said on Twitter: The amount of strength it takes to get onstage not even a full year before a life-changing tragedy is unbelievable, and he showed that and more. Seeing him smile onstage is all we needed. Here's to what's to come.
  21. lol. Classic "you can't see anyone moving on the stream, fuck the US" Have we not learned after YEARS of livestreams that videos are not a good indication of an actual crowd? Grow up, guys. Why shit on a good show just because you think you can do better? Let people have a good time however they want to. EDIT: Additional stream info for Identity LA. Streamer's saving their battery for Hoody, Jay Park, and Mike. If they don't make it to Mike's set we'll do our best to find Periscopes and keep the setlist updated. Keep your eyes on Twitter. https://twitter.com/LPLive/status/995492449584865281
  22. Updated the soundcheck. He soundchecked them at Identity and is now on his way to KROQ.
