Time to get back in action. After a hugely successful - and fun! - tour throughout Europe and Asia this past summer, Mike Shinoda and co. have been on break for a month to gather their bearings. Now that they've had their break, it's time to get back on the road. Mike Shinoda's Post Traumatic Tour continues on Wednesday, October 10 in Montreal, Quebec - the first show of the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour. Before we get into anything, let's get a little refresher as to what Mike was playing when the last leg of the tour ended. Mike's last leg of the tour was in Europe, ending with shows in Austria and Italy. The Italian show was at the Milano Rocks festival, where Mike opened for Thirty Seconds To Mars. The show featured a shortened set, but it was still packed with surprises, as almost every show on the tour was! Not only did 'Sorry For Now' get its festival set debut and LPL member Peppe Park joined Mike for 'Roads Untraveled' onstage, but the setlist opened with 'Remember The Name' for the first (and only, thus far) time on the tour! The night before in Wien, Austria was probably one of the most surprising nights of the tour, with a massive encore featuring the tour debut of the live version of 'Cigarettes,' 'It's Goin' Down,' and the return of 'Until It Breaks.' Mike also added 'In Stereo' into the set for the first time on the tour. This show also featured the first time 'Welcome' opened a set in quite some time, replacing 'Introduction' and 'Petrified' (which were meant to be played during the encore, but were dropped in favor of all the rarities). Watch Mike and Matt perform 'Cigarettes' in Wien, Austria for the very first time on tour! They rehearsed the song a few days prior at a soundcheck in Sweden. The precedent for adding a song to the set seems to really just be a bit of rehearsal at soundcheck, so we are bound to see a bunch of surprises throughout the tour! In other words, we haven't known what to expect from this tour on a day-to-day basis, and that certainly hasn't changed. Mike, Matt Harris, and Dan Mayo have been deep in rehearsals lately in preparation for the tour, and that could mean more surprises are on the way. Whether or not we see them appear on the first few dates of the tour is yet to be seen, but it certainly wouldn't be a shocker if we saw different songs pop up. Several songs off of Post Traumatic have yet to make their live debut: 'Nothing Makes Sense Anymore,' 'Brooding,' 'Promises I Can't Keep,' 'Lift Off,' 'World's On Fire,' and 'Can't Hear You Now.' Plus, 'Place To Start' has been absent from the setlists for quite awhile. It's likely we see at least ONE live debut on this tour, but the question is: which songs will come first, and which will bite the dust? If you asked us, 'Promises I Can't Keep' is probably the most likely to get its live debut first, and perhaps 'Brooding' will be used as an intro or transition. 'Lift Off' is another possibility, considering this tour coincides with Mike's performance at the Deftones' Dia De Los Deftones festival in November. What do you think? On top of Post Traumatic songs, Mike had been adding random songs from throughout his discography randomly throughout the tour. On the European Tour alone, almost a dozen songs made their tour debuts: piano versions of 'Heavy,' 'Burn It Down,' 'Numb,' 'Wisdom, Justice, and Love,' and 'Iridescent' were all played at some point; 'Cigarettes,' 'It's Goin' Down,' 'Until It Breaks,' and 'In Stereo' all made debuts mid-tour, and Mike even threw in acapellas of 'A Place For My Head' and 'Cigarettes' at some shows. The point is that every show is something special, both in terms of emotion and setlists. You never know what to expect, and that's not likely to be any different on this tour. Awhile back, we conducted a survey across our social media to see what songs fans wanted to hear most, and several tracks have already been played. Big fan requests like 'No Roads Left' and 'High Voltage' have yet to be mentioned, but we know we'd love to see them. What songs do you want to see Mike play on this tour? Mike first started playing piano versions of songs in Köln, Germany, starting with 'Heavy,' 'Burn It Down,' and 'Numb.' Plenty of songs can receive that treatment - what other songs would you like to see Mike tackle in this style? Let's focus in on where the tour is starting, now. The Monster Energy Outbreak Tour kicks off in Montreal, and it's been a minute since Mike was last there. While he and Chester made the trip to Canada last year to do some promo for One More Light, Mike hasn't been in Quebec since 2015, when Linkin Park played in Montebello at the Amnesia Rockfest, the last show to feature his Solo Medley (which was replaced by 'Welcome' at following shows). Mike was last in Montreal the year before on the Carnivores Tour with Thirty Seconds To Mars (funny how that worked out, huh) in 2014. Linkin Park's very first show in Montreal was in 2003, on the Meteora World Tour, during Metallica's 'Summer Sanitarium' Tour, which featured tracks like 'P5hng Me A*wy' and 'Don't Stay.' They returned again in January of 2004, a show that featured the famous fan Sal on guitar during 'Faint.' They returned 4 years later on the Minutes To Midnight North American Tour in 2008, where Mike performed a cover of The Cure's 'Just Like Heaven' for the last time ever, after doing it throughout the winter tours. The band also performed in Quebec last that year at the Festival d'Été de Québec, which featured a performance of the MTM Tour Version of 'Cure For The Itch.' Montreal was the first Canadian stop on the A Thousand Suns North American Tour in 2011, which was the last time until 2014 that the band performed there, as the band skipped the city during the Living Things Tour. Here's a throwback for ya - watch Linkin Park's very first show in Montreal in 2003 on the Meteora World Tour! Who's heading to the show? This will be Mike's longest tour yet, making 23 stops across Canada and the United States. The first two stops are the only shows in Canada, with the next show being in Toronto. Then, Mike hits North America with New York City and Philadelphia - I'll be at both, so if you'll be there, stay on the lookout! Just a little bump before the tour starts back up - what songs do you think we'll hear on the North American tour?

Even though the poster puzzle is still going strong, the 'Make It Up As I Go' music video is here! In similar fashion to this whole "pieces of the poster" puzzle Mike's been doing in promotion for the video, the music video is a very artsy one, using the effect of different pieces of paper to create different scenes. What are your thoughts on the video? Mike's on the quest to create a visual component for every song on the album - we're almost at all of them. The last video was for 'Brooding' released last month. Videos for the Post Traumatic EP songs, as well as 'Crossing A Line,' 'Nothing Makes Sense Anymore,' 'Running From My Shadow,' 'About You,' 'Ghosts,' 'Promises I Can't Keep,' and 'Lift Off' have all been released so far - we're up to 12 videos now. What song do you want a video for next? Mike Shinoda's Post Traumatic Tour is currently on a break, but it's kicking up again soon next month with an extensive North American tour - be sure to buy tickets if you haven't already!

Get the candles and the party poppers out, it's LPLive's birthday! 12 years ago, on September 16, 2006, Mark and Jonas - known as Hahninator and AndOne respectively - started the site as a way of accurately documenting Linkin Park's live shows so the trading community could have an accurate source of information. Since then, we've expanded in both size and purpose; we have a huge community of almost 7,000 members, a great team from around the world, and a whole lot of LP news and content to provide. 12's not a big number (though LPLive hits those edgy teen years next year), but every new year that we can do this is a great step. None of us make any money from this, none of us get any special benefits outside the LP world for this. What we get is a connection with you, and to this music. This site has given all of us - team members and site members alike - opportunities with Linkin Park, with other fans, and these shows we love to cover that we like to think other fanbases just don't have. And most of all, this fanbase has proven that time and time again, when someone falls, we'll all pick them back up. Because that's who we are: LP Soldiers. So, on our 12th birthday, from us to you, thank you for everything. We hope you'll stick around for another 12 years to come, and hopefully even more beyond that. We've gotten quite a bit of anniversary merch this year! In May came the Minutes To Midnight Anniversary merch that featured logos and squares. Then in June came the Living Things anniversary which featured... more squares. Now it's September, and you know what that means: it's the eight-year anniversary of A Thousand Suns! As of yesterday, the album is eight years old! And how do we celebrate it? With squares! Thankfully, that last part was a lie. Instead of bringing out a bunch of designs, the band has opted for two of them - and only one of them dons a square! You can choose from the white Eagle Tee or the black Thousand Suns Tee. The Eagle Tee is pretty much the cooler one, we can't lie - the design is on point and it isn't a square (hallelujah!). Probably one of the best t-shirt designs from the band yet! The Thousand Suns Tee is more conservative on the front, featuring the albums title on the chest and the cover of the deluxe edition (the inverse colors) on the back. In square format. Both are available now on the official Linkin Park store, so be sure to nab them while you still can! Will you be buying any of the shirts? I'm nabbing the Eagle Tee - it's honestly the first anniversary design I've really loved so far. Perhaps this means the band's stepping up the game with these anniversary merch designs. It goes without saying that mental health is a very important topic for the Linkin Park community. For over a year now, the members of Linkin Park, their families, and the crew have been working hard to ensure the stigma of mental health ends. Talinda Bennington and Anna Shinoda have made several appearances on TV and has even spoken at events across the world. Jim Digby has spoken about mental health on the road. Mike Shinoda is, of course, touring for his therapeutic new album Post Traumatic that documents his own journey through grief. Mike's work doesn't end there; he's speaking today morning on the I'm Listening discussion, where artists and professionals alike will be discussing mental health an trying to put an end to it. The event takes place today - Sunday, August 9 - and starts at 7am CDT. You can listen to it live on their website (ImListening.org). Many guests will be speaking throughout the night: musicians including Jared Leto, Alessia Cara, Bebe Rexha, Charlie Puth, Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, and more will be speaking, as well as professionals including Dr. Chris Nowinski and Dr. Ursula Whiteside. This is it, folks. After a straight month of touring across both Asia and Europe, Mike's wrapping up the Post Traumatic European Tour tonight in Milan, Italy at the Milano Rocks festival, opening for Thirty Seconds To Mars. And this should be a good one. With the tour coming to an end, it's interesting to look back at the very start of it in Hong Kong and see how far this set has come. The good ol' 20 song setlist we thought would change ever so slightly in order at the beginning of the tour... oh, how silly we were. The next show in Bangkok woke us up a bit, Mike adding in 'Petrified' off the cuff without any warning. And here we are, at the end of the tour, with a completely shaken up set. Not only has the order of the songs shifted wildly, but we've seen a bunch of curveballs throughout the entire tour. The debut of another Post Traumatic song - 'Hold It Together' - mid-tour in Singapore. Mike adding in a piano medley around 'In The End' in Köln, playing piano versions of 'Numb,' 'Heavy,' and 'Burn It Down,' and later on 'Iridescent' (as well as 'Wisdom, Justice, and Love') in Moscow. Mike throwing in other goodies, like 'Until It Breaks' in Köln and playing 'Kenji' by request at the last couple of shows after it became a bit of a rarity in Europe. We lost a few songs along the way ('Place To Start' is amongst the fallen soldiers lost to the changing setlists), but we've seen more than we've lost for sure. At the most recent show in Vienna alone, Mike really brought the surprises. Perhaps he wanted to make the last full headlining show of this run of the tour a memorable one - and he succeeded. 'Welcome' opened the show for the first time since Summer Sonic Osaka, having been replaced by 'Introduction' and 'Petrified' thereafter. Despite Dan not being present (he had flown to Israel to perform at the Meteor Festival with his band TATRAN), Mike delivered a huge setlist, surprising from start to finish. And we're not even talking the minor details, like shortened piano versions of the medley songs, the demo verse making a comeback in 'Sorry For Now,' or changing around the setlist. We're talking about the tour debut of 'In Stereo' mid-set. We're talking about Mike taking not one, not two, but three requests during the encore, all of which were on a poll he posted earlier in the day because he didn't know which one of them to add into the set that night (can we also mention that Mike's original setlist poll back in May included 'In Stereo?' Including those four songs, seven out of eight poll songs were played in Vienna): the tour debuts of the live version of 'Cigarettes' and 'It's Goin' Down,' as well as the return of 'Until It Breaks.' Mike does not hold back when it comes to these sets. A moment we've all been waiting for - Mike performing the 2015 Remix Version of 'Cigarettes' for the first time on tour in Vienna, Austria. Let's hope it becomes a staple for the U.S. Tour! It hasn't been long since Mike was last in Milan - Linkin Park performed there just last year at the I-Days Milano festival in Monza. Not only did this set feature highlights like the 2017 Version of 'Leave Out All The Rest' and 'A Place For My Head,' Mike also brought back the 'Reading My Eyes' verse over the bridge of 'Bleed It Out.' Linkin Park first visited Milan in 2001, opening for the Deftones on their 'Back To School' Tour in the spring before returning for a special MTV Live invite-only event later that year on the Hybrid Theory European Tour. Milan was the very first stop on the Meteora World Tour, featuring the world premieres of songs like 'Lying From You,' 'Faint,' and 'From The Inside,' as well as featuring deep cuts 'Easier To Run' and 'Hit The Floor.' The band didn't return to Milan for awhile, but did perform in the country; after a violent tornado cancelled the Heineken Jammin' performance in Venice in 2007, they returned for a make up show the next year at the same festival in 2008. The band performed in Italy in 2011 on the A Thousand Suns Tour in Imola, performing at Sonisphere Italy. Italy was skipped on the Living Things World Tour due to a lack of a proper European Tour, but the band finally returned to Milan in 2014 on The Hunting Party Tour, performing at Alfa Romeo City Sound. The band returned again on the tour, performing in Rome for the Rock In Roma festival, where they performed 'A Place For My Head' to open the encore, dedicating it to a fan who sadly passed away the day before the show. Will Milan bring the energy once again? Let's go old-school for a second. Watch Linkin Park perform 'With You' in Milan, Italy in 2001 at their exclusive MTV Live performance! Now, if you know me, you know I love me some music. If you know me really well, you'll know that I fuckin' LOVE Thirty Seconds To Mars. So you better believe that I'm writing a damn paragraph or two about 'em. Chances are if you're a fan of Linkin Park post-2007, you know Thirty Seconds To Mars. Linkin Park has toured with them several times, most notably (and recently) during 2014's Carnivores Tour. There were a lot of warranted complaints about their set, but I'm here to tell you it's a whole different ball game now... because it's Europe. MARS is currently amidst their second European Tour of their Monolith Tour in support of their latest album AMERICA. Their current set (see what they played recently in Hannover, Germany) features plenty of tracks from the new album, including singles 'Walk On Water' and 'Rescue Me,' as well as other tracks like 'One Track Mind,' 'Love Is Madness,' and 'Live Like A Dream.' Now, if you're not a fan of the new stuff, that's fair. BUT, be prepared for lots more action. The band has been playing a lot of songs they haven't been doing regularly full band in a couple years on this tour. This includes full band versions of my favorite song ever 'The Kill (Bury Me),' as well as 'From Yesterday' and 'Hurricane.' So you'll be met by a lot of great songs with a lot of energy. Just get ready to sing along. Now, Jared Leto and Mike are great friends. And MARS has been bringing artists onstage to join them for the entire tour. It only makes sense that we see an onstage collaboration happen tonight, especially since we didn't get one during the Carnivores Tour. There's plenty of opportunity for MARS to join Mike and vice verse; Jared could sing during 'In The End' easily - he's said before it's one of his favorite songs. Or, Mike could join MARS onstage, and if you've followed MARS' touring cycle, you'll know there's plenty of possibilities for where that could happen. While artists have joined them for 'Dangerous Night,' what may be more likely is Mike joining for the extended bridge of 'Walk On Water,' where everyone from Travis Scott to Post Traumatic collaborator K.Flay to Brazilian local rapper Projota has performed on. At a soundcheck recently, MARS also performed a mashup of their song 'Hail To The Victor' and 'In The End,' so that could be another potential place where some action happens. What we're saying is, the stars are aligning here. Mike's joined plenty of artists and been joined by some too throughout the tour: Taka from ONE OK ROCK joined him for the 'Waiting For The End' and 'Where'd You Go' mashup at Identity LA and Mike joined ONE OK ROCK for 'One Way Ticket' at Summer Sonic Osaka, Mike joined Sum 41 for their cover of 'Faint' at the Reading and Leeds festivals, and, most recently, Mike brought up a fan named Josie Stickdorn in Offenbach to play acoustic guitar with him. Let's end this tour in a big way. (And, for my own personal desire, get a 30STM setlist on the live guide.) Watch Thirty Seconds To Mars perform 'From Yesterday' recently in Vienna, Austria. Their shows are bigger than they've ever been - don't miss them if you have the chance. This is coming from the guy who saw them three times in June. Trust me. Who's going to the show? While this is the end of the European tour, it's not the end of the Post Traumatic Tour by any means. Mike and the crew are taking a month's break before embarking on an even bigger tour across North America next month as part of the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour, which just added two new dates in Cincinnati and Houston. Plus, we can expect Mike to have tour dates in 2019, as well - perhaps he'll even hit the winter festival circuit, hitting stops such as the KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas. We'll have to wait and find out, I suppose! We're almost at the end! But that doesn't mean the Post Traumatic European Tour will be slowing down. Mike's playing the last full headlining show of the tour in Vienna, Austria today at the Arena Open Air Wein. Austria has hosted Mike and Linkin Park for years. They first performed there in 2001 in Vienna, opening for the Deftones on their 'Back To School' Tour in the spring. They returned later on the Hybrid Theory European Tour in the same year to headline at the same venue they opened for the Deftones at, performing 'One Step Closer' with Wes Scantlin from Puddle Of Mudd. The band didn't make it to the country during the Meteora World Tour (though a weird festival appearance in the summer of 2004 in the country was apparently cancelled), but returned on the very first full leg of the Minutes To Midnight Tour, closing the first European run in Nickelsdorf for the NovaRock Festival, which they have played at several times now: 2007, 2011, 2012 (which was shortened due to bad weather), and most recently, in 2017 - Mike's most recent show in Austria. Outside of festivals, the band performed in Graz in 2008, twice on the A Thousand Suns Tour (Linz in 2010 and NovaRock in 2011), and twice on The Hunting Party Tour (Vienna in 2014 and the FM4 Frequency festival in 2015). Linkin Park returned to Austria again and again over the years because the country just keeps on giving, and that's expected to continue. Watch this multicam mix of Linkin Park's performance in Vienna in 2014, featuring fresh The Hunting Party tracks like 'Guilty All The Same' and 'Final Masquerade.' Seeing Mike perform a piano version of the latter would be awesome! Mike's last show was in Offenbach, Germany, and certainly featured some special moments. The 'Petrified' into 'I.O.U.' set returned after being skipped in Stockholm (this version of the set had its debut in Moscow - perhaps it's Mike's "second" set to play in countries he's already been in). This means songs get moved around, like 'Castle Of Glass' in the encore and 'Sorry For Now' and 'Crossing The Line' being played much earlier than usual. Other great moments from the show include the full piano version of 'Heavy' (where Mike messed up the bridge in a funny way) and a surprise 'Kenji' in the encore after requests from fans in the front row. The big surprise of the night was an unexpected one, though: Mike brought up a fan named Josie Stickdorn, a guitarist who posts fingerstyle acoustic guitar covers on her Instagram (check it out)! After seeing her performance of 'Numb' (which you can watch here), Mike gave her the stage and let her perform the track solo with the crowd. He then came back, and then they performed 'In The End' together, the song being performed in its original key for the first time on the tour. It's moments like these when you really see how caring and loving Mike is with the fans. You rarely see special moments like this where an artist will bring up a fan after seeing them play a cover - what a legend. As per usual, we don't really know what to expect at this show. Anything could happen. Surprises have been relatively tame these last few shows, though; aside from the verse one acapella of 'A Place For My Head' in Stockholm, 'Kenji' has been the only real surprise in these sets, entirely due to the fact that it wasn't planned to be performed at any of these shows but was played by request. Mike definitely has a bunch of things up his sleeve; from the soundcheck in Stockholm alone we know 'It's Goin' Down' and 'Cigarettes' are ready to go, and he also teased 'The Catalyst' by playing the strings, too. 'Until It Breaks' has only been performed once on this tour in its entirety, and that was in Köln. Other piano versions of songs are possible, too - Mike randomly whipped out 'Wisdom, Justice, and Love' and 'Iridescent' in Moscow. Maybe because the tour is coming to a close he's easing up on the surprises and is saving some stuff for next month's run - but you never know! Watch Mike perform 'Numb' and 'In The End' with fan Josie Stickdorn in Offenbach! Must be a really amazing moment for her to be apart of the show like that. And she killed it! Is anyone going to the show? After this Mike finally wraps up a month-long run of shows across Asia and Europe with a final opening set for Thirty Seconds To Mars in Milan, Italy tomorrow. There's huge potential for a collaboration (MARS performed a mashup of 'In The End' and 'Hail To The Victor' at a soundcheck in Poland on their current tour), so keep your eyes peeled for that. Mike and the crew will be taking a break for a month after this show, but will return full force with an expansive run across North America on the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour, which just added a stop in Cincinnati. The tour has 23 dates over the course of 39 days - if you thought Mike was keeping us on edge for Europe and Asia, just you wait for this one.
