  1. Mike trolling us again I see... lmao
  2. WBR has literally 0% influence on what LP sounds like and the band is lucky they have a label like that. LP has full creative control and does whatever they want, sometimes making the label upset in the process. This started for I believe MTM as they had immense pressure on them for HT and also the followup Meteora. For example, picking Catalyst and GATS as leading songs from the albums. WBR may recommend Final Masquerade or something, but LP decides it in the end. WBR is just a channel to help the band release their music and promote it worldwide, and they support whatever the band does because they trust LP will make something good. They don't say "ok you have to make pop"; that was a conscious decision by Mike. This is what the demos were like before THP, I guess. Agreed.
  3. Collectively, these two songs have the most basic instrumentation possibly in the band's career on main studio albums (obviously excluding H! Vltg3). In Between might be the exclusion to that statement. Both songs sound like the music was an extremely early demo form of what they wanted, something Mike made in a few minutes. Usually we see LP pushing their boundaries on song instrumentation and structures (Nobody's Listening, Valentine's Day, TLTGYA, all of ATS, most of LT even though I dislike that album, a good bit of THP like ALTS/MTG). This is just crap. I think a lot of the disappointment from the fanbase comes from that. It isn't that they went pop. It just sounds uninspired as hell. Even if the vocals are a little off, they usually have fantastic instrumentals. Not the case at all this time.
  4. Wow this is atrociously bad. Not sure what to even say about it. What happened to the instruments? Sounds like a ProTools demo made in 10 minutes. Even Lockjaw (LPU Demo) sounds like it had more time spent on it.
  5. I assume so since unknown LA-area rappers are on it.
  6. We've messaged several LA-area prominent record stores, etc with no luck yet.
  7. That indeed is one of the best LP remixes out there. Middle fucking explodes. I've had it on my iPod/in my iTunes since 2010. They really should play Wretches again. As much bullshit as we give them about A Place For My Head, Reading My Eyes, etc....Wretches is a super underrated song and was fun as hell live.
  8. As Linkin Park gears up for the next month of promotion around the world, they had a special guest drop by to say hello today... none other than Chuck D from Public Enemy and Prophets of Rage! Joe's DJ tech Warren posted this picture with Chuck today: It's unlikely Chuck D performed anything, but just stopped in to greet the crew (and possibly the band). Chuck's only involvement with Linkin Park was during the A Thousand Suns era. Las Vegas/Phoenix-based duo HavocNdeeD remixed Wretches And Kings, releasing it in 2010, but came back in mid-2011 to release a new version of it...with a verse from Chuck D on it. Mike at the time said, “Their remix of ‘Wretches And Kings’ came out incredible...the bridge section is massive!" It is definitely one of the best ATS-era remixes.
  9. He didn't reply to yesterday's questions from us nor another way to contact him, and we got nothing from Ryu either. We can try it, sure, but I doubt he will reply.
  10. Executive Order #1998: All LPLive projects both public and behind the scenes/private are on hold until further notice, aka until this Xero song is found.
  11. Very interesting information. I guess we don't need any other information from him. That confirms the 1998 date for vol14. Coming from someone else who has heard it that isn't Mike, it sucks and is not a good song. But it's just one of those things... ha.
  12. LPU has released some great demos over the years. Imagine if we hadn't gotten Across The Line or Primo. Two fantastic examples and I love stuff like Cumulus, Basquiat, Pretty Birdy, etc. If we can get this other stuff via another means, people would complain the LPU isn't releasing stuff "deep in the vault" that fans can't access. Just need Pictureboard to leak, though.
  13. Kicking off what might be the biggest scavenger hunt in Linkin Park history... Everyone saw the Xero demos Fiend and Drop that were just posted online, from Urban Network's Rapology 13 and 14. Everyone noticed immediately when Mike said "we're back" on Drop, meaning he could be featured in another earlier Rapology. Almost immediately, all available copies of Rapology 13 and 14 disappeared online as collectors and fans scooped them all up. While we are pretty sure Xero isn't on a later edition, volume 11 has no available tracklisting so several fans have bought those available copies which are incoming so that they can be checked out. HOWEVER... Drew has found the tracklisting for volume 12. It's a mess, probably because the listener on last.fm played it before naming the track titles. However, it shows one person has scrobbled this song four times. Xero has another unreleased song entitled "Closing" on volume 12. Announcing the massive scavenger hunt that is set to begin in 3...2...1.... Let's get it.
  14. but dis is da best lyrix evar #nextlevelpopradio: You told me yes You held me high And I believed when you told that lie I played soldier, you played king And struck me down, when I kissed that ring You lost that right, to hold that crown I built you up, but you let me down So when you fall, I'll take my turn And fan the flames As your blazes burn yeehaw
  15. No UK in June.
  16. The end of High Voltage on the Hybrid Theory EP, which I'm 99% sure is Mike's (intentionally) distorted voice. "This production has been brought to you courtesy of Mixed Media, Akira, Mr. Hahn, and Hybrid Theory." Mike and Joe song w/ Mixed Media = Akira & Mr. Hahn. Akira is also mentioned to start verse two on High Voltage, High Voltage (Mike remix) and H! Vltg3 on Reanimation.
  17. I don't think these are necessarily tracks that have to be on the BMI database. Xero wasn't really signed at that point, right? And these are on "promotional only" compilation CDs. So there was no need for BMI to have Fiends and Drop. There are most certainly more songs that exist. Mike says "we're back", so I would be willing to bet there is another song on Rapology 11 or 12. We know versions of Pictureboard and Esaul exist in the Xero form. Who knows what they really recorded in that era. The Xero 4 track was recorded right to tape, but when a computer was introduced in 1998 (or even later in 1997) who knows what else Mike had recorded. He was super into rap/hip hop at the time and made his own beats...I'm sure he has a LOT of demos from that era. Most of them are probably cringe-worthy for him to listen to now but indeed he was in a big creative phase in 97/98 due to him having the team of Mark, Brad, and Joe that he could call in whenever he wanted to collaborate and write music with. Look at Dedicated, that's Mike only and that's even in 1999. Probably lots of samples-based hip hop beats with some badass Shinoda rapping. Let's be honest, his flow at that time and lyrics are just leagues above what he puts out these days under Linkin Park...which is why so many fans want more Fort Minor music. Pictureboard I hope will leak one day...I doubt we ever get Esaul with Xero, but I'm sure Mark is also on more songs than just what we have. It took everyone here a full day+ to even realize Mark is on the backing vocals in the chorus on Fiends, ha. BMI for Junkyard Scientific, the namedrop at the start of Fiends says "Animal House" and "Flight Path" exist. Is that the same Junkyard Scientific that is dropped on Fuse verse 2 line 1? "It was the junkyard crooked letter C-I-entific" Maybe so...I sure don't know any other Junkyard Scientific artists. That's the Styles Of Beyond guys in the credits. Mike isn't included but perhaps that was intentional? Who knows. http://repertoire.bmi.com/artist.asp?page=1&blnWriter=True&blnPublisher=True&blnArtist=True&fromrow=1&torow=25&keyID=663793&keyname=JUNKYARD%20SCIENTIFIC&querytype=ArtistID There is hours worth of material we will never hear. Yes in reply to the last comment...the reason we need everyone to find volume12 is because 13/14 disappeared online almost immediately after these threads were posted. 11 is on its way but if someone gets 12 and doesn't share it...we're out of luck. Keep looking. I also messaged Ryu, but didn't get a reply, for information on Rapology, the SOB songs, etc.
  18. Well I'm sure over the years even though they shared credits, the writing from Rob, Joe, and Phoenix was minimal. But they seemed to have changed it when they went with the additional songwriters, I agree. This lets you hear the backing vocals by Mike and Kiiara pretty well.
  19. I THINK Mike told LPA that all of the song titles come from lyrics in the songs, so if it's an instrumental, it will at least be like Jornada Del Muerto LOL. I think all 10 songs are really songs, though.
  20. Bump for first post info on credits, mixing, vocals, and more.
  21. Way too early for a second single, no way this is the second single. No way at all. Heavy hasn't even been out for a month and the music video just came out, plus they are starting a radio campaign for the song right now. Definitely just another song from the album for fans who preordered.
  22. iTunes has updated with the length of "Battle Symphony" at 3:36, indicating that this could be the next song revealed from the album. While Linkin Park has already performed Heavy, Invisible, Talking To Myself, and One More Light live, it appears that they are going in the direction of another song for either the second single or the second song that is being released to fans. Chester recently said that before the album comes out on May 19th, Linkin Park has plans to release more songs from One More Light to fans in March and April.
  23. You guys can spend all the time you want on the lyrics of Fiends LOL, the rapping is so fast it's almost impossible to figure out what's going on. This is my attempt at first verse and chorus. sample: "always prevail the human derail" "____ straight from molotov cocktails" (sounds like an unreleased rap song?) junkyard scientific, styles, ha yo, I thought you knew, I thought, ha, uh I tell ya, ha, uh it's like a royal flush when the bus? verbally busts crushed earth's crusts and enemy emcees to dust with one touch don't hinge rhyme, riddle or mystery with earth rattle reckoning rewriting ya history with blistery fleshed mesh with the mess of a civil unrest unwacked test press (scratch) with finesse, and next blessed _______ and program for the organs above your necks addressing hip hop and making it over again this is the end (oh man?) you'll never defend from the deep end, we watch trends and then we see ____ (rock?) and devise plans, strand them in the penalty box and mentally stop (plans? brains?) of virtual train wrecks dissect the picture to the words straight up on the text - ? what's next? heat seeking treats meet your sect when you spit a thousand words and have a ???? believe this, i'm only in it for the fiends and mean every single sentence that i scream it's just the sound as the break beat kicks that's got us all dancing in the mist believe this, i'm only in it for the fiends and mean every single sentence that i scream it's just the sound as the break beat kicks that's got us all dancing in the mist incomprehensible bullet hole ventilators ????
