Ever since Chris Cornell played in Tel Aviv, I said there's no reason why LP can't play there. That's so awesome. I'm so glad they're playing in places they've never played before. I hope they continue to do cool stuff like this. Asia and Australia to come too! Wow that's great.

Just tell me your Twitter name. Or text me the setlist lol. -
Finally it's time for another one of my big pre-show posts! Linkin Park will be playing their first full show of 2010 on September 14th in New York City, NY at the Best Buy Theater @ Times Square (formerly Nokia Theater). This is the "A Thousand Suns" release show! Previous release shows for the band have included a two night run at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles for Meteora to end the LP Underground 2003 Tour (show pages here and here), and technically the Webster Hall show in New York City in 2007 for Minutes To Midnight. That show was webcasted online and shown in theaters nationwide on May 14, 2007 (show page here). So it's their third "big" album release show. A few facts about this show: There unfortunately is no LPU M&G. There is no opening band. The only way to get into this show was to have either been a current LPU member, preordered LPUX on LP.com, or preordered the album on LP.com. There were several batches of tickets released through Ticketmaster that these people had an opportunity to grab. Also, this is the first big show LPLive gave a ticket to (last night's VMA show counts). Hopefully we can continue that in the future! Oh snap... So anyway for those of you out of the loop, the band has played two shows so far in 2010. The first took place on the 7th at Paramount Studios for KROQ's Kevin & Bean Breakfast. The show page can be found here, but for you lazy people: the band debuted "Waiting For The End", "Iridescent (with the full band singing + Chester on guitar), and "The Catalyst". This performance airs on KROQ.com sometime tomorrow. We'll rip it and post it for your listening pleasure. Anyway, the second show took place last night at the MTV VMA's. The band actually rehearsed the night BEFORE as well for that show, but the actual event took place at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles. "The Catalyst" made its live TV debut and the band played "New Divide" and "Bleed It Out" (studio version) for the first time in 2010. You can watch that video of "The Catalyst" live last night right here on MTV.com for your viewing pleasure. The show page can be found here. So what can we expect from this show? Since the band has already played "Iridescent", "Waiting For The End", "Numb", "What I've Done", "The Catalyst", "New Divide", and "Bleed It Out", we can safely assume those will be played in New York City. What's interesting to note is at the VMA REHEARSAL, the band played a snippet of "Wretches And Kings". That's already four songs off of "A Thousand Suns", which is exactly what they did for Minutes To Midnight by playing "What I've Done", "Given Up", "No More Sorrow" and "Bleed It Out". What do you guys think? Will the band only play four songs off of the album? Will they play all of "A Thousand Suns" exclusively just for this concert? What's interesting to note is that none of the three live appearances the band has made this year has resulted in a song from Hybrid Theory being played. Remember, it's the 10th anniversary of the album this October...that's something to think about for the European Tour. Is anyone willing to tweet the setlist from the show? Let's get some discussion going. After New York City, the band heads overseas to South America for their first ever "tour" down under for three shows in Argentina, Chile and Brazil. After that, they play a full European Tour and conclude in Abu Dhabi on November 13. The rest of the 2010 tour schedule can be found here. Also note that Australian tour dates for December will be announced SOON (110% confirmed), while Asia is heavily rumored for late November. Rumors are circulating that a USA tour will follow after the first of the year.

Yeah whatever happened to the multiple guitar solos they mentioned on the CD? Brad on In Pieces and TLTGYA was awesome...no guitar solos on this CD. Surprising in my opinion because I thought he'd at least do one. I really think MTM is a better album than ATS.
-
Sorry, fixed. Didn't Mike and Dave do an interview with them (radio 1) when they were in Europe? Maybe that ties into it.
-
LP's performance was far from epic, lol

A new post on the Kerrang! website says, "To celebrate the release of Linkin Park's new album, A Thousand Suns, Radio 1 are airing a documentary on the band tonight at 9PM. Full info on the show, which is hosted by Radio 1's Daniel P. Carter, can be found here." Source here. Someone record it! EDIT 8:09pm EST: Thanks to LPL user "TheGinge" who recorded the show! Download it on Megaupload here. Also thanks to "MrSAI" who ripped it as well. Download his here on Mediafire here.

TC was played twice, sorry. Setlist updated.
-
No, it wasn't live. It was about a 25 minute or so delay (at the VERY minimum) between when they played it and when it aired.
-
Chester was terrible. As rough as it gets. lol @ everyone saying it was so epicly amazingly awesome. what the heck. No way, not even close O_o
-
LP only did 3 songs apparently.
-
how can people say that was awesome? wtf? lol Mike sounded really weird at the beginning...Chester rough as HELL like he was when they first started playing New Divide. I wish LP would like, tour with these songs before they debut them HUGELY like on the VMAs. They tend to do that and that's why they sound bad. Highlights: - Bouncing crowd, good venue, great lights. All in one highlight. - Joe singing his ass off, THAT WAS COOL. Phi and Brad having micstands is badass too. - ROB'S DRUMMING FUCKING BROUGHT IT. Sad stuff: - Chester sounds sooooo bad :/ - Brad doing that crap holding up the guitar every shot they showed of him...SOTD live bridge much? Don't like that lol - Mike, ehh. Need to get more used to him singing the beginning but his "lift me up, let me go" part was cool. Glad to see him finally sing live! - Radio edit / no ending to the song
-
Who the hell said that? LP is obviously not 100% live lol.
-
Sweet. Take any pics? They've done 3 songs so far today too. Glad you had a blast. Meet any of the band? How'd you go to the rehearsal? I saw a pic of the stage from Adam, it looks sweet.
-
Thanks ADAM. Just updating what he's relaying me from the show. I'll keep you informed ASAP of what the deal is, but LP has indeed started their performance for tonight. I can't wait to see The Catalyst on MTV!
-
LP just got on stage and did The Catalyst then did Bleed It Out. They're about to do The Catalyst again for the live broadcast. Stage has like...platforms up and has the crowd inbetween them so the band is isolated. One for Joe, one for Rob, one for Brad, one for Phi and one for Mike/Chaz I guess? Idk. About to see, lol. Wonder what else they'll play. 01. The Catalyst 02. Bleed It Out 03 might be Catalyst again. I'll keep you informed. Adam is texting me from the event. Sent a cool pic of the stage.
-
Go right ahead! I hope someone records it. And yeah Mike confirmed the other day they'll be playing more than 1. Evan is going, as well as Adam, so we'll get the setlist for sure.

Linkin Park will be playing their VMA show tonight in Los Angeles, performing "The Catalyst" and a few other songs. The venue is the Griffith Observatory...which is right near the Hollywood sign so it looks to be an epic performance! This is the band's SECOND show of 2010. New York City is two days away, for their first FULL show of the year. Who all is going? What else do you think they'll play? Anything from Hybrid Theory? Same setlist as the KROQ Breakfast? Let's hear it! Who's watching it live on TV? LP played their VMA set tonight! Here's the setlist: 01. The Catalyst (Short Version) 02. Bleed It Out 03. The Catalyst (Short Version) 04. New Divide EDIT for setlist update, TC was played twice, not once. "The Catalyst" was shown on TV - who saw it? Thoughts? Thanks to Adam for the live setlist updates! Watch the performance on MTV.com here. EDIT2: Find the show page here

thoughts from the other thread: LOL @ Mike blowing up on Brad within a minute of it starting. Holy shit a total headache to watch with all the editing. Terrible editing. Seriously? They have to introduce the band? This is the what, 4th Making Of DVD we've had and they introduce the band NOW? RICK IS IN THE DVD Rob had one part. But Joe was in the DVD doing 10x more than he did for MTM lol. rofl @ Catalyst in the middle. End is insane. All the building up. Chester's speech at the end is EPIC. You can see they talk about Tom Whalley a lot and LP managers, etc. Chester said FUCK the deadlines, fuck the 3rd party influence bullshit, fuck the record label telling them how to make songs. Phoenix said fuck this record label wanting a 3 minute radio single. This is GREAT MATERIAL. I wish we had more lol. End really is the craziest LP footage I've ever seen. Chester has such a great little role. I love that. The clip before Wretches I believe came from this. The record label talk by Mike is interesting, he said it should be canceled if they can't meet the deadline. It seems the band REALLY REALLY battled with them on this CD. I bet they say fuck Warner eventually and do it on their own. This looks insanely stressful. What a DVD. Editing sucked but I really loved it, especially near the end. Are the Wretches lyrics about the label? LOL "People up top push the people down low"
