I like it that we got this information and not even through a lpu chat. We already have other related ideas ("Across The Line" on the LPU9 CD for example) on deck before the next album comes.

Most people feel that way, but there are also a lot of people who are dissapointed after a release because they had wrong of big expectations of a cd. Like Minutes. They need to think more open-minded.

Mike always keep us up-to-date with their progress with the new album, and this time he writes about 5 finished songs: At last count, there were upward of 60 tracks on the "band" hard drive. Obviously, they're in all states of completion (except "finished"). Well, 60 is a big number, and focusing down on all of those to try to get them finished sounded terrifying not to mention silly; a good chunk of those are probably not really our best stuff anyway. So we narrowed down to 20. These 20 aren't all going to make the album, they're just the best songs we've got so far. Of the 20, we're trying to focus on 5 right now, and get them finished. The work has been going exceptionally well--I think all the guys are more focused than ever. I don't know for sure, but I would bet that the average song length on these is around the 4-5 minute mark; a bit longer format than our usual stuff. We're really enjoying being in the studio right now, trying to be as creative and adventurous as we can, while letting our sense of songwriting, rhythm, and melody guide the way through the chaos. I think you are a bit too fast with conclusions. But a second FM album would be great, though I'm glad he's putting LP as top priority.

Do you happen to know which episode it was?

We all know that LP loves Japan, so releasing it in both US and Japan is something we can't exclude I guess.

i love it, the colour effects are somethimes a bit ugly but overall it's better than crawl back in. nice suprise that talinda was featured (i didn't knew that!)

What I've Done was the last song that was made for the album. Before this song, you guys thought the album was finished. What would then be the lead single? Leave Out All the Rest because Rick Rubin described that song as a massive single?

I am not excluding LP. Like this summer, they could perform to get the feeling of playing a live show again. And KROQ diggs LP so

But one conundrum remains: Which ideas go where? And how do you prevent the projects from cannibalizing each other both creatively and commercially? If anyone knows that situation, it's Chester Bennington, the singer-songwriter of two successful rock outfits: Linkin Park (who plan to have a new LP out next year) and his Dead By Sunrise, which released its long-percolating debut LP earlier this month. At the Ulalume Music Festival last weekend, Bennington explained how he can tell what goes where. "I can kind of tell like which songs are a little too grungy, a little too punk-driven [for Linkin Park]." Bennington also said that the collaborative process with Linkin Park helps make the decision as well. "On a song like 'Let Down,' which I felt really strongly about, I really wanted that song not to change. I didn't want to go in and change the words, I didn't want to change any of the vibe, and I knew that would happen a lot taking it to Linkin Park. So it was pretty easy to figure that out." However, he admitted that the decision is often not quite so simple. "As time went on it got easier," he said. "I hear a song like 'Condemned' in my head and I know that's probably not going to end up on a Linkin Park record. But now it's getting really difficult, because Linkin Park is going in so many directions it's kind of hard to figure out which songs are which."
