For all the people saying that a Greatest Hits album after 3 albums doesn't make sense, think a bit more about it. LP has 16 singles in the span of almost 10 years. If you ignore the fact that there are only 3 official studio albums, that really is not a bad number for a Greatest Hits CD. Plus if it has unreleased songs, and gets them one step closer (nice pun XP) to being free from Warner, this is great.

I love this post. Sometimes people need to step back and realize that there is more to music than distorted guitars and screaming. Quite frankly, Chester has an absolutely amazing singing voice and I don't mind hearing him use it. Rick Rubin was right, the band needs to make music that they want to make, not that they feel like they have to make. I believe that had LP made another generic nu-metal album, their success would have taken a step back. People would have gotten tired of it. Minutes To Midnight, whether anyone wants to believe it or not, sort of reinvigorated LP. So again, great post.

Exactly. When people read the original post, they are going to get excited and think that we are getting another Hybrid Theory. That is not going to ever happen. Basically what this means is that we are getting a MtM type album with more songs like No More Sorrow on it. And I am not complaining by any means, that sounds awesome to me.

Yeah, it doesn't mean they have to play ALL singles. They usually do 21 songs and they have like, what, 17 singles? So there will be some other stuff, but usually Projekt Revolution sets will probably be more mainstream than the Arena Tours. I think this also means that when LP starts their next touring cycle, some songs we love may have to disappear because of time constraints. By then LP will have over 20 singles I'm sure. Songs like No More Sorrow and Pushing Me Away might not be played as consistantly. I'm not sure on Points Of Authority, was that officially a single? Lying From You was a radio single so not sure on that either.

Yeah I remember discussing this with some people on the LPU one time. I'm pretty sure it's because the Summer Tour was Projekt Revolution, which is a festival-type, lots-of-bands tour. Meaning it has to be a bit more mainstream because some fans will have come to see maybe Chris Cornell or Atreyu. Because of this, LP or their managers or whomever, from a business stand-point (and let's face it the music industry IS a business), have to be a bit more appealing to the more casual fan, since there will be more of that type of fan attending. The Winter tours were Arena tours. Consisting of LP and only an opening band or two. These shows are going to consist of more hardcore LP fans, since there aren't any other bands there to attract others. Because of that, the setlists don't have to be a singles-fest, and will appeal to the more hardcore fans.

Exactly. If you stop and think about it the show and the DVD wouldn't have really been that different if they had used the original set. I mean people would have been really happy to see Reading My Eyes on the DVD, but that's about it. If they had done DOYS/LFY, there would be people complaining that the DVD didn't have LFY and it's special new intro. The only reason people think the original setlist is so epic is because it's different than what they got. The grass is always greener.

Having Jay-Z come out and do CC songs wasn't anything special?
-
They don't believe in making seperate shows special? They brought out Jay-Z and performed two of the CC songs. That's not exactly common. I understand about Reading My Eyes, I think it would have been cool if that had been included too. That's it though. Bleed It Out is just as big of an ending as Faint is. BiO gets the crowd involved and lets everyone have a lot of fun to end the show. This wasn't a Collision Course show, they ended the show with a Linkin Park song as they should have. It was MtM tour so they ended with a MtM song.
-
They took out 1.5 songs and switched two other songs around. It's really not that different. We get way too worked up over setlists sometimes.
-
I'm not sure why everyone keeps thinking the original set would have been SOOOO much better. The only better part would have been getting Reading My Eyes. Did you guys not see LP's performance of Lying From You on the DVD? It's amazing. Bleed It Out is also a fantastic closer, and while I love the Jay-Z/LP songs, I think the show should end with a Linkin Park song. And come on guys Bleed It Out is just fun as hell. So again I'm not sure what everyone thinks would have been so amazing other than Reading My Eyes.
-
I've always suspected that as well. I thought this album would come out a lot faster than the others did. Chester also said that DBS should come out in Sept, because that would be a good time for it. I'm guessing that either means the new album comes real soon, or 2010.

OneRepublic Lupe Fiasco Styles Of Beyond Disturbed System Of A Down Coldplay Death Cab For Cutie Any of them would be great, and of course Rise Against.

Maybe a short film to go with the concept?
-
LP ok'd the sharing of the live shows? That's awesome. How did you contact them?
-
Even if Warner IS involved, people act like this issue is just Warner being evil again, and it isn't. This is an issue that is being brought forward by the photographers that took the photos. It's completely legitimate. Ana if you are reading this, I'm not trying to be mean or cold and I really am sorry this happened to your site I'm just trying to straighten out the people that are saying "OMG!!! WARNER IS TRYING TO CONTROL EVERYTHING BURN THEM!!!11" when in reality this isn't an issue with the record label, it is a very fair request from the photographers to stop using their work. (Though they kinda sound like they were jerks about it)
-
Listen you guys, I think you need to reread the original post. Ana was contacted by PHOTOGRAPHERS, not Warner. Her site was posting HQ photos that I'm assuming she didn't take herself? And I'm assuming the Photographers that contacted her are the ones that did take the photos? If so, there is honestly nothing wrong with this happening. The people who took the pics have every right to ask Ana to remove them if she didn't ask permission to post them. All of you are screaming Warner but I'm not seeing where they were involved here at all. I'm sorry about the website though, it always sucks to see something someone put a lot of time into just get taken away like that.

your sig is one of the best things I have seen in a while.
-
Agreed 100% This was meant to be fun. It's been blown way out of proportion. We're still getting a new album soon and it'll still be amazing music from Linkin Park.
-
I'm thinking it was. It's funny I like it. I have to say that I think this is better than live music. There are about a million live mp3s of every song LP plays live. It gets old. This is a lot better IMO. We'll see how LP responds to all the negativity.
-
...is it wrong that I enjoy the songs? Especially 26 Lettaz? Each song mocks a genre of music. It's funny.
-
Exactly what I'm thinking. I really think we need to cool off now. Mike has been let know of how we feel several times on his blog it's time to let up.
-
The OP already said that there was only one CD. The other thing is a sticker.
-
... I don't even know what to say... I guess this is what happens when you complain about things that are privileges.
-
Different medium...concept album... It's gonna be LP: The Musical on DVD! ...yeah I'll never say that again. XD Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Can someone explain what this means?
