  1. ^If I had to guess sales will be around 800-1.2 million when all said and done. Sales will probably go 250 k first week, 90-110 k second week, 40-60 week after, and so on. We just have to see if this album has staying power and if another single can boost sales. The album is going to sell millions if you count worldwide totals though...
  2. In it's 5th week it's at #75 of the top 100. Lets just take a look at songs above The Catalyst that have been on the charts LONGER then 5 weeks. Lover,Lover by Jerrod Nieman All Over Me by John Turner Impossible by Chantelle Pretty Good at Drinking Beer by Billy Currington I mean seriously? lol All those songs have been on the charts for over 5 weeks and are ahead of the Catalyst. Forget about the rock charts, mainstream bands always dominate that because of their fanbase. The hot 100 is another beast because it goes against all genres and the Catalyst is doing miserably.
  3. ^How you can say an album is going unnoticed when their selling 250,000 opening week. Katy Perry has the #1 song in America and her album only sold 100+ the first week. Minutes to Midnight had a huge opening because it was the follow-up album to Meteora which was super popular by ALL LP fans. A Thousand Suns album sales are down because m2m turned a lot of fans off AND The Catalyst wasn't a smash single to restore faith in a lot of people. The music buisness decline is a good excuse for smaller acts, but not for established artists and bands. Eminem sold 600+ thousand opening week with his Relapse album which a lot of his fans hated, but then followed it up with Recovery which opened to 700+ thousand sales in the first week because he restored faith in his fan base. Also, it helps that Love the way you lie was a radio hit and boosted sales as well. Also, LP is very very conscious of their sales. Chester questioned if his Dead by Sunrise album was good at all on his twitter because album sales were so low. he blatantly said seeing how album sales are low the album must not be good. Mike's constantly advertising all the kinds of things you can get if you order the skatedeck, deluxe edition, saying meeting of a thousand suns is the BEST documentary yet when in reality it was the worst, etc etc. This is their career and what brings in the $ to provide for their family. I applaud them for experimenting, but at this point their biting the hands that feeds them and they'll notice it with this record. I BET the next album has more elements from Hybrid Theory/Meteora. If it doesn't then the band truly is dedicated to JUST making good music that they like. If the heavy guitars and some screaming comes back, then it's obvious that they do care about album sales. Personally, im a fan of the new direction. i think ATS needed more songs and less interludes, but overall im satisfied and bought the record yesterday, but i know A LOT of people are turned off with the band at this point in time. I think the next album is make or break for them for being commercial heavyweights.
  4. I think international sales will still be big. What Linkin Park needs is a huge radio hit to boost sales in the US. A Numb, Faint, In the end, etc. Sure LP fans will shoot their singles on top of rock charts, but on the hot 100 charts The Catalyst is sitting at 76 I believe. Iridescent, and When They Come For me won't do it, but Waiting in The End has the most potential.
  5. According to hits daily double. The album is projected to sell about 250,000 records based on first day sales. Next week’s chart will feature a two-horse race with Warner Bros. rap-rock Linkin Park’s much-praised, Rick Rubin-produced A Thousand Suns, in the early lead, sporting a projected total of 250-260k. That is none too shabby, though it’s sobering to realize that just three short years ago, Minutes to Midnight moved a total of 623k its first week of release in May ’07 Right behind the Linkin Park guys is Atlantic R&B tout Trey Songz with Passion, Pain and Pleasure, his fourth album, on target for 220-230k, a substantial increase over his 2009 release, Ready, which moved 131k on its way to a total of 785k. So it's Linkin Park VS Trey Songz (250-260k to 220-230 k respectively). Sad day lol.. Source: http://www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/newsPage.cgi?news08224

  7. lol at people thinking ATS is better then Hybrid Theory. Or even Minutes to Midnight for that matter. On to my review.. The Requiem- Did nothing for me. I just had a Super Mario vibe with that big ghost "boo'ing" The Radiance-Digged it, good intro to Burning in the Skies Burning in the Skies- LOVED IT. Finally a legit Chester/Mike duet. Empty Spaces-Filler.. When They Come for Me- GREAT production. Mike's rapping was meh, im a hip hop head too Mike's mediocre at best. Too much name dropping, although I digged the Jay-Z reference with the "blueprint" being a "gift and a curse"[blueprint 2) Robot Boy- Don't understand the hate for this song. I thought it was very mellowed out and cool, great performance by Chester. Jornada Del Muerto- Best interlude on the album, but defiantly a skip on my ipod down the road.. Waiting For the End- This song had so much potential. Awesome chorus, Chester sung it beautifully, but the "lazy' melody and Mike's regga rapping made it sloppy. Blackout- LAME track. Was that Chester or Gwen Stefani? Overproduced in the middle. The end was random. Sloppiest track on the album. Wretches and Kings- AWESOME track. Felt like a fusion of Meteora/the new direction. This is what i expected on Minutes to Midnight when LP said they were going to experiment but not get rid of identity. Funny how it ends up on an album where it didn't fit with the other tracks. Wisdom,Justice, and Love- Did nothing for me, a skipper few weeks from now Iridescent- I was looking forward to this track. It has to grow on me, but first impression was nothing special. Fallout- Meh The Catalyst- When this song premiered, i wasn't blown away at all and thought it was a good track not great. After hearing a Thousand Suns it's a "GREAT" track now compared to the other material on this album The Messenger- Out of place. Funny how it's a softer side, yet Chesters performance was the most aggressive in ways. I LOVE Chester's voice from HEAVY to very soft, but not a fan of what he did on the messenger. Overall: 6/10. Over-produced and sloppy at times ( Blackout). Too many interludes. I'd rather have 12 full length tracks, then 9 tracks and 1 intro+5 interludes. Sure it connected the album and served as intros and transitions in between songs to make the album blend together, but it took away from the actual material i've been waiting for years now which is FULL LENGTH songs. Lastly, I didn't feel i went on a journey with this album, i just feel i was manipulated into thinking that due to interludes that were cleverly placed to make you think it's some kind of experience when in reality they were all unnecessary at times. p.s. Did I miss something or were Brad, Phoenix, and Rob kicked out of the band? I feel like this album is too much Mike at times whether it be on the mic or in production, i heard his personality in most of these songs not LINKIN PARKs. Hard to explain, but the album felt like it was a Mike Shinoda project featuring Chester bennington "alternative electronic poppy side project" versus full length record by a band called Linkin Park. Im pretty disappointed, i know i set my expectations super high and after waiting 2-3 years checking these sites with the album finally here im just not blown away or impressed as i thought i would be. Nothing STOOD out on this album to me where I can say " damn thats the shit!"
  8. Wow so so so so disappointed. And im not a I want Hybrid Theory every album-LP fan. I love all kinds of music, but this album is so god damn sloppy. The interludes were pretty annoying. I did not connect at ALL with what they were trying to say lyrically or accomplish on this album. I genuinely liked Burning in the Skies, Wretches and Kings, and the catalyst and thought they were GREAT tracks. Waiting for the end had a GREAT chorus and the end was awesome, but i hate the lazy melody and Mike's rapping. It had potential... Blackout sounded terrible, was that Chester or Gwen Stefani? Ugh I can go on and on but im SO disappointed. I give the album 4/10. Hybrid Theory 10/10 Meteora 9.5/10 Minutes 8/10
  9. No he said the band is pretty much a band that has dumbed down mainstream rock, is a walking cliche, Chester is an emo singer, and Mike is vanilla ice. He sounds like he just dislikes Linkin Park. Fair enough, but don't let your agenda for the band cloud your judgment when reviewing the album. MTV's calling this album Linkin Park's Kid A, and New York Daily News is calling is shit. lol i really don't care about these reviews, all that matters is what I think of the album at that end of the day..
  10. ^ lol Anyway NOT hearing these clips minus when they come from me seeing how i listened to the other snippet that surfaced a few days ago. So far im loving this album personally.
  11. This album leaks within the next few days. If Eminem's album leaked, this album will leak. Eminem's like the biggest selling act in the world right now, and they couldn't even stop his album from leaking.
  12. K fucking SICK song. LOVE it. I just had a huge smirk on my face after that first chorus and said in my head this is a GREAT song. Faith for this album is completely restored. I know this is a stand alone track based on reviews, but its definantly a good sign of things to come. Im not hearing anything else til the album drops though..
  13. Honestly fuck it im waiting until September 14. I've waited 2 years for this album, 11 more days won't kill me.
  14. olddddddddddddddd, lplive last to report it as usual. first on julien k news congrats
  15. ^yep same thing. the lyrics remind me of being on ground zero just before an atomic bomb drops. especially with hiroshima's anniversery being just a few days ago it just got me thinking. " god save us everyone as we burn inside the fires of a thousand suns" . Actually if you really look into the lyrics i wouldn't be surprised if that was the song is about. or anything else terrible that's just about to happen and one realizes and accepts whats going to happen. That along with Joe's description of the video being " I thought of the end of the world. What would it be like if someone could push a button to decide our fate? What would it feel like if we accept our fate in the moment of devastation? How would we celebrate our one final living moment? -Joe I mean thats what he seriously came up with? Chester partly drowning, Mike in the back of a car, and smoke around the band? I personally would have had the band and a group of people rioting around them in a circle. have everything beyond the band/circle slowly being destroyed and have the crowd/band toss colorful powder in the air and at each other as being a metaphor for celebrating life in that final instance. Oh well its there video not mines lol
  16. Videos up on youtube for those who can't access it on mtv.com. The videos meh. As hahniator said theres too much Mike, not enough band shots or shots of the other guys. Whats up with all the teeth too? lol The lyrics weren't performed that aggresively, that along with the slow-mo just made the vocals/lip synching in this song look way too exaggerated. Last complaint, the edited version of this song sucks. The intro and the extended bridge are REALLY needed to make this song sound good. Theres moments in the song that are really brilliant but edited out, so certain things i wanted to see/hear in the video just weren't there. I haven't even heard ATS, but the catalyst is not a great lead single to be honest. Overall, i wouldn't say im disappointed but im not impressed. This song never impressed me so it's not a big deal if the video was mediocre.
  17. any links besides mtv.com? it seems as if only peeps in the US get to watch the video right now. LAME
  18. K wtf why isn't there a news post about this? i just heard the song right now. LOVE the guitars, as said before this song has a nice groove to it. great song
  19. 1. Papercut 2. New Divide 3. Breaking the Habit
  20. Sick! Defiantly signing up. Kudos to LP for listening to their fans finally!
  21. He directed the "making of" video that you just saw not the catalyst video.
