Yeah, that's what I mean. Time to release a bunch of unreleased songs, etc. with Chester. Honor his legacy. And then find a new singer and continue on the band.

In it, he talks in depth about Halfway Right. I think it’s good info to add to the song page on Linkinpedia. Halfway Right is one of the two songs that Chester worked on for One More Light, the other being Heavy. Here is the quote: ‘’I was strung out on some really fucking heavy drugs and I was really young and I was driving my car and I blacked out. I woke up driving in a field, down a dirt road, in the middle of a farm. I didn’t know how I got there. It was crazy. I was remembering this constant fucking battle I have with myself, this constant cycle I couldn’t see at that time, where these choices and these behaviors and where this journey would take me in life. But when I was a guy in my 20’s getting out of it, I didn’t realize I’d have these problems for my whole life. This site is DEAD but can’t believe Mike’s tour is basically done. Only a few more shows in Israel and that’s it, end of an era. Wonder what will happen with Mike/LP in the future.

Idk. I mean the band started working on what would become MTM in November of 2005, according to Brad. And 99% of demos for Linkin Park were started by Mike. LPU has released a few demos from ''2005'', Divided and After Canada. To me, these VMA tracks sound very similar to Divided, as well as Basquait and Universe, which were apparently from 2007 and 2006, despite Mike saying they were basically post Fort Minor - early MTM demos in the track notes, which leaves those to be 2005-very early 2006. I mean the band even attempted to record a song for a Machine Shop Mixtape in the Summer of 2005 but it never worked out. I think Madison could possibly be this track. Linkin Park was still ''heavy'' at that time and Madison seems like the perfect fit for that time frame. Sounds much different than anything else from the time period. Cover And Duck, yeah, but it's more hip-hop driven, while Madison is very hard rock/metal driven. If any of these VMA tracks were for LP, I would say Madison was for sure. And why we Fiore use them with LPUTV? In 2009 he used Teletronic during ''Tribal Clef'' and I know Catharsis was used in others from that time, too. However none of these tracks ever got vocals as far as we know so they didn't make it out of seed phase, probably.

I personally believe that Mike’s VMA Score 2005 Full Demos are Linkin Park demos similar to tracks we have received such as Universe, Basquiat, Divided,etc. The only one that I believe isn’t a LP demo is Hive because it was 100 Degees on We Major by FM. 1. LPUTVhas used multiple of these tracks in episodes such as Catharsis, Teletronic, etc. 2. Madison sounds like a LP Demo more than anything. Heavy early MTM demo. 3. Mike said demos like Basquait and Universe were post FM early MTM demos and they fit stylistically with these VMA songs.

It's crazy to me how LP was seven months into writing ATS and they wrote New Divide. Had a heavy rock sound compared to what ATS became.

Nice find. I assume the alternate mix of NRL and ATL are also ''demo'' mixes, too, then, by default. I still find the other versions of those songs superior.

Person says so in this thread. Says Ryan confirmed it during a video and other interviews. But I believe it. Sounds enough like it could be him. He probably is in the background in a bunch of DTA songs. Idk about the DTA Demos but he definitely is on the actual album DTA.

Yeah I just listened today to TD once again and it’s definitely Chester. Don’t know how I ever questioned that one but Ryan also confirmed it was, too. Maestro, he probably is, you’re right. Listen to the Maestro 2004 demo clip because I think you can definitely hear him in that, in the chorus. Brandon Belsky’s Remix also proves Chester was in the song because he had the stems being a band member at that point. Shaking though, hmm. Can’t tell. I think Ryan meant that he could hear Chester because he taught Ryan how to sing those parts according to him. I don’t think Chester is actually featured vocally in Shaking.

Ryan said that he is ‘’pretty sure’’ he can still hear Chester in the high part of the chorus because with this demo, Chester was literally ‘’teaching him how to sing’’ and they were using the chorus to try and teach him how to sing higher parts. However, can anyone actually hear Chester in the chorus? Or was that just Ryan basically saying he did the song with Chester so many times trying to teach him that he remembers him? Pretty interesting little track. Doesn’t credit Chester on the song but neither did the album version of Technical Difficulties, either.

I always knew that Chester wrote a lot for MTM because he said it in a lot of interviews. I knew he wrote Given Up but I found this quote in an interview today. Pretty cool. Shows you he was in a dark place. Another cool fact is that the demo title for Given Up was 21 Stitches. He got 21 stitches in his arm when he cut it in April 2006. Morning After and Let Down were the very first songs written for the album. Well Morning After had already existed since the 90's but Let Down was definitely the first song written for the album because both Chester and Ryan have said it 1000+ times. It was likely written in very early 2005 (January-February), possibly even written in late 2004. Morning After was probably recorded in late 2004/very early 2005, too. The demos on this promo disc might be later versions of these songs but those songs were definitely the two songs that sparked the project. Walking In Circles was first mentioned in the summer of 2005 so it was probably written in the spring of 2005 or early summer of 2005. I would say that songs like Fire and Fadeaway, etc. were written around that same time too because that's when they really started writing songs for the album. I think the recordings on this promo disc are from all kinds of different time frames and some probably aren't the very first recordings of the songs, some were probably worked on more. I do think it is the original recording of Let Down though because in 2009 Chester said ''we had originally recorded the song years ago, it was the first song we recorded for the album, and it was hard to revisit the song with Howard and record the song again, because I'm at such a better place in my life''. Also the fact that Chester literally played Let Down live in September of 2005 and even though it was acoustic the structure was different from the demo. Parts of the demo were still there but some was changed so I'm almost positive the demo we have of Let Down was the original recording he mentioned in that 2009 interview. Morning After is literally almost identical to the version we got on Out of Ashes. Lol. Walking In Circles was also played in May 2008 and had a different structure than the demo we got so I'm sure that WIC demo was probably also the first recording of it. My Suffering, it was the same as the May 2008 live version. GMYN was written literally for Chester's wedding on December 31 2005 so he probably wrote that in the final months of 2005 or at least later 2005. He probably didn't record it at that time either for the album because he said originally it was never intended for the album so that's why it sounds way more polished than the other demos, probably because it was from way later in the process compared to some of these other demos we got.

I just remember seeing Astat saying that these were Chester's botched attempt at recording the solo album in 2005. But today I watched that video I was talking about and Chester saying that half of the record was written post Minutes To Midnight pretty much confirmed it for me since half of Out Of Ashes wasn't on this promo CD or on Ryan's board. It's just interesting stuff to me. Morning After and 20 Eyes were both intended for the initial album too judging by Ryan's mid 2007 demo board and this CD. And like I said, Chester said Inside Of Me and Condemned were confirmed to be written in 2009 with Howard Benson when he said the album needed a few more heavy rock songs. Chester said he went home and came back the next day with both songs. CBI, Too Late (which was said to be from late in the process after MTM) and EOTW all don't appear on Ryan's mid 2007 demo board and Chester saying half the album was written post MTM tells me that those songs were written after MTM. In The Darkness was probably written in late 2006 or early to mid 2007 since it wasn't on the initial demo CD and appeared on Ryan's board in mid 2007 as Darkness. Fadeaway was already changed to N2U by that time.

I have some questions on some tracks from 2008. Pretend To Be: I know this track originated from a MTM demo and the band finished it up later. However, does anyone know when in 2008 it dates from? Is it prior to PR08 or after? The band went into the studio for a few months in March-May of 2008 and they also entered the studio again in September 2008 to start working on ATS. So I'm assuming it probably was finished up in the March-May timeframe but I'm not sure. Any info would be cool to know. Lockjaw: So Mike basically just made this song from scratch using the new (at the time) Pro Tools 8 in December of 2008? And he then released it to the LPU for Christmas of 2008? Or did the track exist prior to the Pro Tools 8 video in December? Magic Doors: Does anyone know when this track dates from? Says 2008 on some sites but there is VERY scarce info on the track. It's interesting because it features the original Fort Minor crew of Mike, Ryu and Tak and it's a Green Lantern remix, and as we know, Mike worked with Green Lantern for We Major in 2005 and SOB worked with Green Lantern on Razor Tag in 2007 which was given out at PR07. Does it come from a prior year to 2008? Or late 2008? Anyone know anything? mmm...cookies: The band released mmm...cookies in November of 2008. Anyone know when it hails from? MTM sessions in 2005-2007? Created right in 2008? Anyone have info?

Probably Linkin Park coming back this year at some point and then eventually they will find a new frontman and start making an album and then touring for it after that. Doesn't seem like Mike wants to make more solo music based off what he has said in interviews and the rest of Linkin Park want to make music again, so it seems logical. And Mike hinting at them ''naturally'' finding a new frontman seems to be sort of a foretelling for the future.

I remember last year when the CB Demos came out and people were wondering when they dated from. I just watched a making of DBS episode, and Chester flat out said ''half the record that you hear was written post Minutes To Midnight, so maybe some extra time did benefit the process. If I had put it out three and a half years ago, this would be a very very different sounding record''. So there you go. 12 songs made Out Of Ashes. 6 of them are found on the CB demos and 6 are found on Out Of Ashes. I think it's safe to say that the CB demos we got were the original recordings for the album back in late 2005/2006 that the band shelved until for after Minutes To Midnight. Pretty cool fact. Keep in mind, the band wrote throughout 2007 and 2008 and into 2009 for Out Of Ashes as the band finished Minutes To Midnight writing by very early 2007 (the album was basically done being written by the end of 2006 but Mike did write WID in January 2007). I know In The Darkness appeared on Ryan's demo board in mid 2007 but that song could have very easily been written in 2007. Plus Fadeaway was called N2U by that point so it's obvious the demo of Fadeaway pre dates mid 2007 anyways. Inside Of Me and Condemned were confirmed to have been written in late 2008 when Howard wanted some big rock songs for the album that he felt were missing. End Of The World also was said to have been written later in the process along with Too Late, according to the band in an interview. I could see Crawl Back In hailing from the same time as EOTW and shit too.

How do we start searching for it? Obviously it was available to find through like Google or something it would have been found by now. The company who produced the show probably have it and cut it down for the episode, naturally. Other than that, I'm not sure how it would be found. The band themselves probably sent the company who produced the song themselves since it has to hail from 1998 (unless it was from January/February of 1999 since Chester joined in March of 1999). So the only people I see having the track or obviously the band themselves and whatever company produced the show.

It was called ''Odyssey'' or at least that's what the demo title of ALITS was, so I would assume it's the same title used when it was created in the ATS sessions, kind of like Primo or Ammosick. Would be cool to hear that one.

The version of Rhinestone featured in The Crow TV show sounded so good based off of the clip that we have. It was pretty high quality, it wasn't like the cassette version (obviously). Almost sounded like it had the same quality as ''Fiends'' which of course features Mark Wakefield very clearly. I wish we could somehow get it. I can join the hunt and try to search but I don't think I'll be of much help with it since I don't have money to give or anything. Would love to hear it though. Also I agree about Fiends being an epic song. I honestly don't listen to the other two Rapology songs but Fiends is really cool.

I remember around June/July/August of 2017, the instrumental version of the album surfaced online. It was on YouTube and posted on several places. I don't know where to find the album now. I never downloaded it when it surfaced. But then I remember someone saying they were going to release it (the band) but a bunch of stuff came to a halt when Chester died. I can't prove it 100% but I do recall reading that here or some place else. I have always wondered how that demo of Good Goodbye surfaced last year, too. Even more interesting, when a higher quality version of it became available, when you dragged it into iTunes, it was listed as track 4. So it must have came from some kind of demo promo CD of OML songs or something.
