OML Unreleased Song "What Are You Worth"
Garret replied to SerioDrew's topic in Everything Linkin Park
I was waiting for confirmation that it was real, which there is now, apparently. The quality is also piss poor. It was hard to even really listen to it properly. -
OML Unreleased Song "What Are You Worth"

What's interesting is that this song appeared on BMI in like mid 2016. Way before OML came out in May of 2017. Weird they finished up a song then and decided to publish it. After hearing the full song, I'm still not sure. Really doesn't sound like Mike to me but rather someone trying to imitate him the best they can. The instrumental is also something that could be made easily. -
OML Unreleased Song "What Are You Worth"

Sounds fake. But who knows. I always thought it was weird how that Good Goodbye demo mysteriously leaked online and nobody ever talked about it again. And we have found demos and stuff online like She Couldn't, Rapology tracks, etc. -
Wow, epic! Thank you!!!

This wasn't in Frat Party, he said it during a chat with fans at some point in like 2001 or so. I know this because I have watched Frat Party way too many times growing up and I know it basically by heart.
-
It's interesting that a lot of those demo tapes are from 2000. In 2009, Mike said She Couldn't was a demo from 1999. I suppose maybe the version we have is a more polished one then. The HT timeline is crazy. It goes from a span of like 1997 to 2001 (the album wasn't even released in Europe and Asia, etc. until 2001) and yet the album came out in October of 2000 in the states.

Yeah, unfortunately, I know every show the band has released tracks from is in the hands of the label. And they will never release them. I'd buy them but I know a lot wouldn't. Big fan of the live stuff of Linkin Park.

Why do we not have a full fucking pro-shot performance with excellent audio from Ozzfest 2001? It's crazy to me. It's one of the band's most infamous tours they were ever a part of and yet all we have are low quality fan recordings and a few scattered pro-shots of a couple songs from various shows that really don't have that great of audio. I mean the band literally released High Voltage from Wantagh 2001 Ozzfest as a bonus track on the 2013 version of Hybrid Theory. Why not just give us the full show? Instead we got a bunch of absolute 150% fake ''demos'' from LPU each year in those times instead of something actually cool. Is there a way LP has that full show on some hard drive or something that fans can get a hold of? Are there any people out there who have a full Ozzfest pro-shot like the person with Camden 2004 did?

Setlistfm, anyone can post a setlist. Not saying this isn’t real, it very well could be. It’s the same set as they played at all shows at the time. Thanks for the post either way. Always like to hear something new on LP.

Just curious... who is everyone's favorite member of LP? Mine was obviously Chester but Mike would be second for me and I guess now he is my favorite member since Chester has passed on. I feel like kind of an a**hole for saying this but I never really cared that much about the other members of LP (not saying they're not good musicians, but never cared about them on a personal level). I've always just been a fan of Chester and Mike on a personal level, to me, they were one of the most iconic duos in music, ever. I know most people will say Mike or Chester but I'm wondering if people like some of the other guys the most.

Nothing really new from what Mike said a few months ago. Guess time will eventually tell. I think they will end up getting a new frontman and making music and touring again maybe in the next year or two. Personally I would prefer them to just continue as a 5 piece and make music together like they always did. They could easily make new music doing that and the tour would be epic just like Mike’s tours have been but to a larger scale. I don’t really like the idea of them getting a new frontman and replacing Chaz but it seems like it might happen. Can’t fault them for wanting to do that.

I guess you have a point but the point I'm trying to make is that all of those heavier songs were singles too. I guess they didn't fit the overall sound of what OML was trying to convey, though. I guess the CD really does highlight all of the special things they did on the tour, too, which is cool. Eh, I guess you're right. Just wish they had OSC at least included. It could have fit on the CD without removing anything. The DSP's have always been hit or miss to me. Some sound decent, some sound bad. None of them have ever sounded amazing to me though like some of the live tracks Ethan Mates has mixed for LP (excluding a few of his mixes like HT at Download). Mainly his mixes of live tracks from LT and before, since I didn't care for his mix of ALITS or UIG, either. A lot of the DSP's sound very quiet though (mostly 2008-2009) and a lot of the 2010 ones sound bad. 2011/2012 were meh. 2012 was probably the best the DSP's sounded besides some of the 2007 ones. I don't care though I mean I'm glad they did DSP's for so long and gave fans that stuff. Just saying I don't count them alongside like live tracks released by the band.

DPARK (Dimitris Papasinos) - Chester's clone
Garret replied to Hybrider's topic in Everything Linkin Park
He is good but I can't see the band picking him to become the new frontman. I think it will be someone that we have never even heard of (not going to be someone like Austin Carlile who was rumored last year). -

Well in LPTV from one of the summer European shows, he said The Catalyst is hard for him and he needs a minute to breathe before and after that song. So he always has struggled with it in some ways. New Divide.... has it literally ever sounded good live? I've yet to hear one performance of it sounding decent live and I've been a fan much longer then 2009 when it first was dropped and played. Starting with 2013/2014 he literally changed the song to ''gave me raisin'' during the chorus. And they experimented with shortening the song and changing the key, etc. Surprised it's still even in the set in 2017 since it's not even on a main album and it's so hard for Chester to sing. Just drop the shit and get something else good in the slot. -

I have listened to literally every recording available for 2000-2004 shows and I have never heard one single bad show out of all of them. Maybe SOME from 2000 but the quality is horrible on almost everything from 2000 and he really just sounded rough in general back then because it was the style. Chester was on fire in those days and the band had great energy. If he was on drugs or drunk, he still sounded epic as hell back then, it might even have made the shows better because of his crazy banter back then and manic energy. LP started having ''off shows'' with the MTM cycle. ATS and LT cycles both had them too. However, with the THP cycle, the bad shows became more frequent, IMO. 2014 and 2015 had a lot of ''off'' shows. 2017 had some too, but nothing overtly bad, IMO, although I'm sure if Chester hadn't have done what he did, there would eventually be some. Monza is definitely NOT one of the bad shows, it's one of the very best of the entire OML cycle that we got. He sounded rough in the South American shows and the random U.S. stops in May because they had taken years off from touring at that point and the quality of all those shows were terrible anyways, the webcasts. LP got to Europe in June and rocked the place. And I'm sure the U.S. tour in July/August/September/October would have been just as epic, maybe even more. I actually thought that he sounded kind of bad at the Southside Festival show, the one with the webcast. A few others. -

80,000 fans were in attendance for this show, same as 80,000 fans being at Chimera Music Festival in 2004, the Brazil show. This is definitely one of LP's biggest shows of their career, only one being bigger would be Live 8 in 2005. Also, not sure why people thought this show was bad. Listening to a proper rip of the show now (the one provided on LPL sucks so I ripped Qwerty95k's from YouTube and cranked the volume up in the tracks) and it's really a great show, might be by far the best of the entire OML cycle, only problem is no NCSM or Sharp Edges, but it's still a fantastic show. Then you got Chester saying Italy is the best place in the world for LP and him and Mike talking about the Rome show they did back in 2015 being epic. Overall, this is a solid A+ show IMO. Like I said, the best of the OML cycle IMO and also it's for sure better than any other webcast of the year since this one has APFMH for a full show which is 10000000000+ a better song over FTI or SIB. -
I honestly only wish OSC and Wastelands were on the CD. I don't even really care about the rest of the heavier tracks. For a live release it isn't horrible, like I said, I consider it better than RTR which IMO was one of the worst shows for the entire MTM cycle and Jay-Z sounded cringe worthy on both tracks. Webster Hall 2007 would have been a better live CD/DVD for MTM if it were mixed and mastered by Ethan Mates for a release, honestly, that was a solid set of HT , Meteora and MTM songs and the band sounded good.
-
Interesting. Although in the past some tracks have appeared under Linkin Park that never got cleared up, like ''Richochet'' and others. So it could be a case of that, where it's mistakenly labeled. If not, that would be great. Either way, nice find.

DSP's aren't the same as LIT, RTR, OMLL or any other live release from the band, though, so I don't count DSP's whatsoever. They also included some songs on OML Live that we have 1000 performances of too so your argument is invalid with that anyways. I agree about adding all 8 OML songs played live because of course they'd want to throw them on there. OSC was a single, Faint was a single, Papercut was a single, SIB and Wastelands were singles, etc. The entire set was basically singles but I would have liked to see a few added on the CD, especially since they had up to 80 mins for a standard CD and didn't come close to using it all. Would have been cool if they had done LPU 17 and just gave us a CD of those heavier tracks excluded from OMLL like they did with LPU 3 and LIT.
-
I don't understand why they'd didn't max out the time slot on the CD because they could have fit way more songs and have it be under 80 mins. I wish they also had some of the heavier songs on the tour on this CD such as OSC, Faint, Wastelands, Papercut, APFMH, SIB, etc. At least a few of them, mainly OSC or Wastelands. But I guess in order to have all 8 of the OML songs and still have room for the other poppy singles, they didn't have much choice. As far as the sound of the CD, it's pretty good. I think it sounds better then RTR but not as good as LIT. It might be on par with Berlin 2012 and Madrid 2010. I wish they used a different Sharp Edges (Berlin was one of the worst and featured a mistake still in the release) and there were much better performances of it (my favorite being Birmingham 2017). NSCM also could have used a better performance such as Krakow or Hurricane Fest. I'm glad they kept the RU intro for TTM. BIO is the best BIO I ever have heard, so that was cool.

Astat got that line right for sure and it really sounds like he says ''rock and die rhyming, yes, heavily tested''. Doesn't make a lot of sense, though. I think the Luxembourg performance posted on LPLive Archive's YouTube page is pretty clear quality too but it's hard to make out that part, still. I also am 99.9% positive that it says ''mess with M.S., yes, I hope you've invested''. Which kind of like means that you're smart to want to work with Mike Shinoda. Lol.
-
Yeah, when you really look back at Chester as a vocalist, especially live, he was incredible. They will need someone who can do it day in and day out (of course everyone has some bad days but like you said even on his off days he still sounded good). His range will be hard to find in someone else. But there are some vocalists out there who can both scream and sing. Only problem is, like I said, gotta get someone who is good live, too. And like Mike once said, it has to be someone who they can vibe well with, because they're spending a lot of their life with said person. It will be hard to find someone who they vibe well with. But however, the band has said that they didn't really get along with Chester in the early years like HT and Meteora days and they didn't really become great friends until they started recording MTM, where they hung out all the time as friends and became close, that's literally what was said by Mike in an interview from 2014. Even if they don't vibe with said new person immediately, maybe if they gave it time, they could. Nothing is gonna happen over night, obviously. They have a lot to discuss and I wonder if they have discussed all of this further yet as a band. I know they needed time but they said that in 2017, so maybe now in almost mid 2019, they feel a little better. Plus because of what Mike and Phoenix have both said recently about wanting to make music together again as a band.
-
Yeah and the reason that I mentioned this is because they could get someone who might sound find doing vocals on the studio recordings for new stuff or whatever but the fans are really going to want to see LP play live again, that’s what everyone is talking about since Hollywood Bowl in 2017. People want to see LP live and bring all the classics back to life and you have to have a good live vocalist to do some of the songs. Chester set the live bar very high.
