Nah. Fort Minor is Mike, Ryu and Tak. There's no debating it.
-
There aint no Fort Minor without Ryu and Tak. Hate to say it. Mike should have released Welcome under Mike Shinoda and toured in 2015 under Mike Shinoda, too. Also, was Devils Drop the only Linkin Park song he did in that set? Cuz Devils Drop was Warm Spell, a song from Living Things.

Mike said the music for Place to Start was from the OML sessions and that Rob did the drum work for the track back then. Pretty interesting, the instrumental to the song really does sound like OML a lot, though. Is there an instrumental of the song available?

Couldn't agree more.

Wonder what Mike will do for a set. He might have a shorter set time than he had with the ''Fort Minor'' stuff back in 2015. There is a lot of material he could choose from. The 3 new songs, plus he probably will release more new ones this year, before the August shows. He also has a lot of LP and FM material to choose from, as well as other random features he has done with other artists. I always used to say that Japan was hella lucky because they got that epic tour in 2006, and it looks like they are lucky once again. Hate to say it but that's what he should have done in 2015. ''Fort Minor'' to me was always Mike and S.O.B., even though they weren't featured on every track. I saw Fort Minor play in Boston in early 2006 and that image of the group always just stuck with me. He also could have avoided drama that he got by simply just doing Mike Shinoda. But Fort Minor is/was his solo project, so he does have every right to do whatever he wants with the name, but yeah. If he had released the Post Traumatic EP under the moniker Fort Minor, I wouldn't have thought anything, since Welcome sounds just like that stuff.

Watching the video now. So sad..... EDIT: Does anybody find it incredibly strange that nobody close to Chester EVER talks about the fact that Chris Cornell was one of Chester's BEST FRIENDS and he committed suicide in the same exact way? The crime scene people at Chester's house said the scene was almost literally identical. And does anyone really think it's just mere coincidence that it happened literally on Chris's birthday? I would say Chris's death has a shit ton to do with it, even if Chester had a history of suicidal ideas. I mean Linkin Park toured with Chris Cornell for a very huge main U.S. tour in 2008 and they also toured with him in 2007 in Australia/NZ. And Chester was even the Godfather to Chris's son. I know they kept in touch over the years, too. I think Chris Cornell's death really pushed him way over the edge. Do they feel guilty about it and that's why they never bring it up? I've just always found it really strange that no one has ever said that outside of fans. I've seen 100000000's of fans talk about the connection but never anyone in the band. Weird.

If anybody reading this knows of a full source existing of SSMF 2013, contact me via PM. I will pay for it or whatever. I was at the show and it's one of my best memories. I hate the cut up 50 minute source. I'd love the full show, with speeches in between songs and everything, the entire concert.

I've decided that I'm no longer going to support Linkin Park. I was a massive fan of Xero through RTR but I don't really listen to anything past it much unless I force myself to. And what's the point of staying here and being negative when there are a lot of fans who like the newer shit and will support them in the future? So peace LPL.

A lot of people would buy all the albums if they released them in instrumental form on iTunes and other digital retailers. I would. I know a lot of others would. Why not? You know? Sucks. Sometimes I like to listen to instrumental stuff, and I like to listen to the albums in instrumental form, I jam LT, THP, HT and Meteora a lot. And now OML.
-
Hybrid Theory, Meteora, Minutes To Midnight, A Thousand Suns and One More Light. Why arent there instrumental versions of the albums on iTunes like there are for Living Things and The Hunting Party??? I need them. Out of Ashes and The Rising Tied should also be there.
-
These Mike tracks, they are good. Do I love them? No, but they are good. They're super personal to him and what not. I have no room to judge that, you know? I was just saying, usually if you don't like something as a LP fan, you get jumped on.
-
I wonder how long it would take me to get banned if I said I didn't like the new Mike Shinoda songs, or criticized them. Haha. I know that with Linkin Park fans, you can't criticize literally anything anyone in the band does.
-
If they replace Chester, I will never support it. I’ll be done. But I would support them as a five piece, touring, making new music, etc. If that makes me an asshole, I don’t care at all.
-
We don't know for sure what is going to happen. Mike doesn't know. They need a lot of time to heal. As I said in a previous post, One More Light hasn't even been out for a year yet. I know that you said when they eventually regroup, etc. but who knows when that will be. I said since the beginning that literally the only decision that I wouldn't support is replacing Chester outright. I really don't think that they will. I just get that feeling that they won't. And they can easily work as a 5 piece band. They don't need a huge hard rock and metal presence like they did with Chester. They can make music that sounds like MTM, ATS, LT or OML, or other obscure tracks, like the Mall songs, or Looking for an Answer, demos, etc. Even make a new sound. If they do get together and make new music again, it will have to come natural, I think. And touring is something you worry about after getting back together and making new music again, etc. It will all be different. I personally don't care how long the band takes. It could be 5 years from now. Could be 10 years or more from now. It's understandable to me. They loss their frontman, their best friend, their family basically, in an extremely tragic way only 6 months ago. And we all know how much Chester loved Linkin Park and how much the songs will always be connected to him. It's hard. But for now, I'm fine with Mike doing solo work, etc.

I didn't even watch the videos really. I was laying in bed still when the songs dropped so I just pulled them up on YouTube and read the lyrics alongside listening. I've always been an audio guy, I don't remember the last time I watched a music video or a video of a live concert, etc. But the imagery of the songs is so powerful here I don't even need visuals. Mike is so raw here, it's amazing.
-
Awesome, thank you. You're the expert on that stuff. But yeah, it would be nice to own.
-
Anyone know if a physical release is something that will happen? I'd love to own these on a CD or maybe a Vinyl or some shit.
-
Yeah, the lyrics and the clips at the end are heartbreaking. That's mostly where my worry for Mike comes from. Anyone know if they will be available on Apple Music? I assume they will be. EDIT: Nevermind, found them on Apple Music.

After listening to the tracks, they aren't bad. Over Again is probably my favorite, followed by Watching As I Fall, and then Place To Start. There is one thing that I want to say, though, and don't hate on me for saying this. But I'm worried about Mike. He doesn't come across as too sane in these songs. And I don't think a lot of us have been sane since Chester passed, because it's so massive. I know I haven't. But Mike is usually very composed and proper, etc. I love the manic energy from Mike, I think it's great in these tracks. But I am worried about him. From the minute that I heard about Chester passing, the first person that I thought about that was close to him was Mike. They were best friends and have been through everything together. And you could tell Mike was really hurt badly by it. Anyways, I'd love to see more from Mike as a solo artist after hearing these. I'd love to see him play live, etc, if it ever comes to that. I was worried that they'd replace Chester and start right away for Linkin Park but I knew deep down that Mike could never do that. I really respect him for coming out like this, as if I didn't already respect him enough. Nothing from support and love of my end for this.

I've seen several people say this on Facebook, etc. Chester hasn't even been dead for a year yet. It's only January, a few days after the 6th month mark. Linkin Park always takes at least 2-3 years to make an release an album. One More Light also has not been out for a year yet. The lead single, Heavy, hasn't even been out for a year yet. I expect at least a few more years of the band healing and getting used to making music again, and then releasing it, etc. I don't think that's what you meant by your post, but that's how I feel about ''Linkin Park'' branded music as of right now. Mike doing a few songs or an album or whatever on his own is fine by me, I think it will be good. Phoenix has his podcast, etc. For now, this is more than enough, at least to me. I also don't think Mike ever said for sure that Looking for an Answer was 100% a ''Linkin Park'' song, but that song might not even be one of the three released.

It's acoustic compared to the studio version (obviously), as well as the version that they played live through 2009-2010, etc. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xjAJA940rwCheck it out. You're right in the sense that none of those acoustic performances were truly 100% acoustic. Chester wrote the original DBS songs by himself on acoustic guitar and with him singing only back in 2005/2006, etc. but those have never been released. Julien-K added all that electronic shit to the live songs, even the ''acoustic'' ones. Lol.

Apparently the LPU Meet & Greet gallery is gone for LPs site and likely has been gone since 2017. I can never get my Meet & Greet photos now..... Does anyone have the group photo from Mansfield, MA 2012??? Also group photo of Camden 2012? Also, the Meet & Greet photos from Mansfield 2014? Those were even more special because I had individual photos with Mike and Chester.

Ahh, my bad. Good news nonetheless.

That is good... I am surprised it hasn't sold 1 million yet!
