I got the idea to make a fanmade album for LPU17 since we might not be getting any music for LPU17 at all. The idea is to pick 10 songs for the tracklisting. They can be songs that aren't featured on main albums, demos, etc. that we have received. Think something like White Noise off of MALL, for example, or that acoustic version of Final Masquerade. She Couldn't, etc. We can also add live tracks as well, as long as they fade in and out properly and are good live tracks, like the old days. Anyone have any ideas?

Sweet. Hope to get it in the mail this week.

Yeah, probably you are right.

If he isn't comfortable yet going through demos and listening, he won't be ready for November for LPU18. He has to choose them and stuff months before November anyways in order to make the deadline for the product in November. We didn't get any music for LPU17, it's a solid fact. And that's just my opinion about LPU16. LPU16 came out long before Chester died and I didn't care much for it even then. Am I not allowed to not like something that the band releases? I have just as much right to go on a fansite if I only liked Hybrid Theory as much as someone does who likes everything the band has done. But that's besides the point. Have I ever outright said that Mike and the band need to get over Chester's death? No, I haven't. I've said time and time again that they will need a long time to heal and they probably never will fully heal. Look at all my previous posts talking about it. I didn't think it was being outrageously offensive to talk about getting demos with the LPU since we have been getting that for many years now and they are all already recorded tracks stored away in the vault. I understand that it's hard for him, but I don't think Mike has outright said the reason we didn't get LPU17 music is because he cannot go through the vaults. I remember he said it was hard for him to listen to that OML Live Album and that's why he left the listening party for it early, but that's it, as far as I know. So I don't think I'm being as much of a prick as you're painting me to be. You and a lot of people on this site hate me and feel the need to attack anything that I post, that's more your problem than mine. All I want to do is talk about my favorite band and voice my opinions on certain things. It's all just opinions at the end of the day, mine isn't any more right than someone else's, that's why it's an opinion.

How is it dumb? What's the point of creating a LPU18 thread about music when we didn't even get music for LPU17? If Mike is still uncomfortable with listening through old demos, he likely won't be ready for November. And he would have to pick them, master them and get them ready by like September/October if he were to.

We arent going to get music with LPU18. We didnt even get anything for LPU17. LOL.

I just don't care about what other bands have done. It's not the same. If Linkin Park chooses to continue without replacing Chester, or if they want to continue with replacing Chester, it's strictly up to them, which is obvious. But comparing them to other bands is pointless to me, because they have never been like other bands. There has never been any other band in the world who has been similar to Linkin Park, in terms of not only their music, but the entire ethos of the band and how they operate, even their business side. I was simply saying what I think the band should do. Obviously they aren't going to do what I post on a Linkin Park fansite. They're going to do what they want to do. At the same time, leftshoe has all the right in the world to say what he thinks, or to compare them to other bands, etc. But it seems pointless to me to compared them to other bands in terms of moving on without their frontman. Some bands didn't move on with a new frontman. Look at Nirvana for example. You can say examples of it all with bands who did or didn't continue on. But it's pointless. Half the shit that I have posted since Chester died is just trying to get conversations going and what not because the Linkin Park community is so dead. They have like 20 years worth of music to discuss, with thousands of unreleased songs, hundreds of unreleased shows, etc. and yet no one talks about any of it anymore. LPA actually has some decent threads with people still discussing all of that stuff but LPL has none of that.

But the time that rolls around it will be time for LPU18. We probably won’t get any music for it either, if we didn’t at all for LPU17. LPU16 is such a shitty LPU release and it will suck if it’s the final one.

He isn’t Chester and even acknowledges that. But he isn’t that bad. He is on par with a lot of other singers in the biz. In other words, he isn’t in the ‘’elite’’ level like Chester, but he is in the good vocalist level. He is not a bad vocalist.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3i6c3AsSpPo Leak? The fanbase should just create a 10 song LPU 17 album then and post it for free.
-
I think it's fake, but it's still a cool cover. They should legit use that and release what the fake tracklisting is. Not like they don't have all of those demos sitting in a vault gathering dust. Put it on a limited run of CD's in the LPU Store or make it a 9.99 digital album.
-
It will never be released, trust me.They didn't want to pay the sample clearance for it to be released on LPU9 so it's safe to say that it's never going to be released.

Many people over the years have criticized all of those songs live. ETR isn't as bad as the others, but it still isn't good, at least to me and a lot of other people. It's a lot better on the album, while a lot of songs by Linkin Park are good in both forms, some even better live. HTF.... ldk. I hate how it sounded live and so don't a lot of other people, like I said. Maybe those people just didn't like the song to begin with. I actually like the studio version of the song. Battle Symphony just sounded bad a lot of the times that they played it. You can go back and read what people were saying about it. They polished it up nicely for the live release, but... Idk, It's all just a matter of opinion after all, anyways.
-
Who cares though, it’s not Linkin Park. No other band in the world can be compared to them or how they operate.
-
You guys also forgot ‘’M. Shinoda The Cobra Holder’’.

I’ve gone back and forth in my mind about replacing Chester so many times. But it’s pretty impossible not to. Mike can’t sing a lot of the Linkin Park stuff, especially the first three albums, as well as some others past that. And plus, Mike does so much on stage that he can’t solely be singing vocals for every song. They need someone to replace Chester but he can’t be someone like John Green. They need someone who can scream and sing very aggressively, as well as sing. There are many vocalists out there that do both well, usually metalcore vocalists. I said Oli Sykes because I like him as a vocalist and I think he truly appreciates LP. Fuck M. Shadows. He said he never even knew Chester and he isn’t even that good IMO. He doesn’t fit the style at all, either, while Oli definitely does. Ryan Key is also good, I don’t know why people don’t like him. I’ve always listened to Warped Tour style bands since like 2003 outside of LP. That’s why I loved the MTM touring cycle because they toured with a lot of those kinds of bands. So I like a lot of these vocalists and bands. They need someone from that world.

Place to Start is badass. Having the instrumental version is basically like having a OML demo.

Valentine's Day actually isn't about Chester's Dad. His Dad is still alive and well. But I've seen that rumor a few times online over the years. The song itself has a lot of references to death; perhaps it's more so about someone really close to you that has died and dealing with the loss of that. I've said a few times on this site now that I actually asked Mike what the song was about directly at the Holmdel 2014 Meet & Greet and he said ''I don't know man, you'll have to ask Chester, he wrote the lyrics for that song''. So when Chester finally came around to me, I asked him about it, and he said ''it was pretty much about death, long story short.'' Pretty vague, I know. But yeah, I can see what you mean, that people who don't look into the lyrics that hear the song might just think it's some cheesy love song, it definitely appears that way. Anyways, I actually liked your tracklisting for Meteora and MTM a lot. THP as well except for Devil's Drop. Cool lists.

Why not Ryan Key then? He is no longer with Yellowcard (he wasn't when the Hollywood Bowl show took place, either), so he most definitely has time to dedicate to being the full time lead singer of Linkin Park, in the studio and live. He always showed respect to Linkin Park since 2007 when they asked Yellowcard to open for them in Japan that year. And he even wrote his own song for Chester that he performed as a solo artist. He can sing pretty damn good and he definitely fits the ''Linkin Park'' persona, IMO. For the songs that have intense screaming, he can either just let the crowd sing those parts since they are so obscure and they don't play the crazy ones like Given Up, KTTK or Qwerty anyways. Who knows, maybe he can even scream, or at least learn how. I remember Chester said once that he never screamed on a song before until Mike showed him how, so he can do the same for Ryan Key if they really wanted to.

I know some people who won't listen to his music anymore, because it's hard for them. I've seen some people say that listening to it isn't the same also, etc. But for me personally, I've been playing it loud and proud since the tragedy happened, and I am going to continue to do so. It's cool to know there is someone else that feels that way on here.
-
Have you listened to all of the Bring Me The Horizon albums? He has a lot of different vocal styles. Their first two albums are pretty intense metal albums, and so isn't their third in a sense, but after that, he started singing and he isn't that bad. I mean he clearly loves the band and what not, that was a big reason why I also said it. Maybe they won't get a new singer after all, but I don't want the band to just fade off into obscurity. Release an album each year of just b-sides then or something to keep it going. They have like over 1000 demos and b-sides in the vaults.

I don't know if I came across as a dick in my post or not, but I probably did. Lol. I agree with you about DBS live. I saw DBS live twice and I wasn't 100% impressed. And I've listened to a lot of their live recordings and stuff, too. I think they were a band that was much better in the studio. Some songs did translate decently, I agree. But a lot of them didn't. There are some exceptions, for example, I'd love to hear the full Steve Wyrick set, or the Club Tattoo 2008 set in HQ, but the chances of that happening are slim to none. The 2005 demos, on the other hand, exist and are recorded, and have been collecting dust since probably 2005. Lol. Out Of Ashes, while I love it for what it is, it's not as good as it could have been. The album was 90% done in December of 2005, according to Chester and Amir at the time. They waited until late 2009 to release the album. I know writing Minutes To Midnight, releasing Minutes To Midnight and doing a lot of touring for Minutes To Midnight took up a lot of time for Chester, but it also kind of messed with the album, IMO. They wrote Inside Of Me, Condemned and completely re-worked Fire and Too Late and a few others songs in 2008. Anyone remember the original My Suffering for example? The original lyrics that we were shown for Fire and Too Late were both DRASTICALLY different, they were much more dark and emotional. They also obviously re-recorded vocals for each song, which sucked, because Chester in 2005 was eons away from Chester in 2008/2009, his voice was almost like a different person, IMO. I bet the original DBS recordings from 2005 were very different, even just on the vocal tracks alone. As a fan of it way back in 2005, I literally watched Let Down from REact Now in 2005 on TV, as I'm sure you and many other people here did, I know the original music was probably much better. I wish the album came out in late 2005 like it was originally planned, like when Fort Minor released their stuff. Chester and Mike could have both done those albums and toured for those albums before Minutes To Midnight came to be and it would have been epic as hell. I know Chester was going through a lot at that time, getting divorced and remarried in the same year, nearly drinking himself to death, etc. but still. He drank heavily on Linkin Park tours in 2000-2004 as well so it wouldn't have been much different, especially since the album wouldn't have had as drastic of touring as Linkin Park did. I feel like DBS was a moment in time, 2005. Whenever I think of the band, I think of 2005 and that time frame. I don't think of 2009 and 2010 and shit like that. It was basically an album that was created in 2005 and shelved for years, and then eventually released later with a bunch of drastic changes from the final product. Call me OCD or whatever, but I just would prefer the ORIGINAL content. I don't think Warner would own that stuff, would they? The original 2005 demos and shit? I know they own Out Of Ashes and the Howard Benson recording sessions but how can they possibly own the 2005 stuff? It would be really cool if Ryan and Amir could released some of it. Hell, give us like a 10 song digital release even, of the 2005 stuff. I'd love that and would gladly pay for it. I wouldn't even need a physical product, which is more taxing for them anyways. I know there probably isn't a drastic demand for the 2005 stuff, but I know myself, and a lot of people on LPL and stuff might be interested in hearing it. They had some good songs. Walking In Circles is like one of my favorite songs of all time, even the 2009 version. I'd love to hear the original, even if it was the same lyrics. You know?

I have had that fear since when he died. I find it strange that NOTHING has been release that had his voice on it since he passed besides that live album. Still no Julien-K release, no Mark Morton track, no LP demos, no DBS demos, etc. I even thought maybe we would get Head Like A Hole and other tracks that he recorded with other artists that never got released. I figured all these artists would want to release stuff and honor the time they had with him. Chester had such an amazing voice that it's a shame to let anything he recorded go to waste, at least to me. I have been celebrating Chester since he died by playing his music every single day. Not a day has gone by since July 20th that I don't play music with Chester. I play it loud and proud wherever I go. I wear Linkin Park clothing a lot more often. I want people to talk to me about Chester if they see my shirt in public, etc. I don't want him to ever be forgotten. With that being said, I know it's hard for Mike. I can't even imagine what he went through and is still going through. But I just don't want Linkin Park to kind of fade into obscurity. I know he said he plans to continue the band in the future, he just doesn't know how yet. But I still hope we can get a lot of that unreleased material and maybe some cool live content from past years released in the meantime. There are SO many demos and completed songs and live recordings that are just sitting in a ''vault'' somewhere and it's a shame for it to go to waste. ''Linkin Park'' may not be done, but Chester Bennington is. I hate to say that, but it's true. And usually when a band breaks up or a big artist dies, you ALWAYS see all this unreleased stuff coming out. I'm not trying to attack Mike or the band or fans here. I just really miss Linkin Park and I don't know what to do with the feeling I have inside that I won't ever be able to hear Chester on something again that's unreleased, etc. While One More Light Live was a good idea and live album, it didn't satisfy me enough. Maybe I'm being selfish, I admit that. But there were multiple full shows from 2017 online and I want to hear some stuff that is a bit more rare, like all the amazing demos and live recordings we have received from the band over the years.
-
I understand that. But someday I want to hear these demos. MTM, Meteora, etc. Tons of great demos from eras. Especially MTM, you know there are some more songs from MTM era that have vocals. They wrote 150 songs and more for the album and remember they added the nanana vocals to songs early on during that era. Hahninator, you love MTM just as much as me, I know you want to hear all the MTM demos just like I do.

Maybe but I don't think it would be that hard. Put a week aside and go through the vaults. They opened themselves up to the fans always asking for demos and b-sides, just like they did with the DSP's. If they never had done DSP's at all or never had released any demos and b-sides at all, fans wouldn't be begging for them today. Every other band that I listen to very rarely releases anything aside from main albums, fans are lucky if they get 1 or 2 bonus tracks of songs that didn't make the cut as bonus tracks. And thus the demand isn't as high. It doesn't make me an asshole for asking for demos since the band has released demos year after year after year.
