i first heard of linkin park while chatting with some guy on napster. he asked me what bands i liked and i said "limp bizkit", so he immediatly recommended me linkin park's "one step closer". this was on the 25th of november 2000 at 9:13 pm to be exact . this song got me into this band at first listen and it was a funny version of the song actually. after the final chorus ended, the bridge started again so it was basicly extended and i always thought that this was the way it should be, until i saw the video for the first time in germany on the 4th of january 2001. this was the first time that i actually saw what the band looked like . this album will always be in a special place of my heart because it was a partner through my teenager years (i was 15 back then...) and it helped me to find many other new bands and extend my musical taste. i guess my favourite song from this album is "papercut". the second the beat starts it always gets me and the climax is one hell of an epic ending. i stumbled over this band while they became more well known in the US and i followed them when they started to take over the world. it was an amazing journey which i will never forget and it started with "hybrid theory". thank you linkin park

Chester Bennington vs. Ian Watkins?
Trumtram replied to LPjahova808's topic in Everything Linkin Park
whatever? i mean, his band got some really cool tunes, so why not enjoy those and give a fuck about what he says? i don't wanna be friends with ian, mainly i want to enjoy his bands music. plus, it's arguable if "his career" is undeserved or not. they got 4 albums out which are diverse to some extent and they know how to play a live show. what bothers me the most is what astat pointed out. someone bashes the favourite bands lead singer and everyone goes apeshit about it and starts to hate. childish. -

it's funny that i'm with you on that one. i really like the lostprophets and their shows are far more fun than linkin park's from the point of actually HAVING active fun instead of standing around and wave hands in the air. there is not one album by them that i do not like and they were actually the first band i've ever seen live... opening for linkin park back in 2001. seriously, don't let your opinion about someone's music depend on what he says. you may dislike the actual person, but music should stand for itself. -
anyone going to the cologne show? @jonas mayfield did open for emil bulls back in march at the colos-saal right?
-
sure, i hope i dont forget it. might take a few days because im out of town for now, but sure thing .

pretty funny when you think about it. i had 3 tickets for free from the lpu back in the day for the hamburg show. it was like my 4th concert (while i'm about to break the 100 this year) and i clearly remember the rowdy crowd but what made this night even more special was the meet and greet. it was backstage, really intimate, small and AFTER the show with the guys sitting behind the table and a line of people that was roughly 20 persons long. even the support act "emil bulls" were in this line. i got my hybrid theory tab book signed and remember phoenix (i think he was it) asking me if i could play all of those. mike was the last one at the table and he was fooling around with the rest of the band but when i stopped by i told him how much linkin park's music helped me and what it means to me. he became all serious immediately, shook my hand and thanked me. there is a photo of this handshake in existence on my harddrive and i have to smile everytime i look at it . those were the days.

one of the smallest locations in cologne. screw it, i will check them out and grab a few beers. it's a friday so a good party afterwards is on the list, too.
-
the preview DOES sound terrible IMO. deal with that opinion or get over it.
-
@vavouras the bands themselves have more influence on the ticket prizes than one might think.
-
wow, just watched it again after years and i have to ask: is this chesters best performance of any song ever? fuck, i'm amazed!
-
tickets will be expensive like always. lp are bitches when it comes to this. i would've travelled for them, but not if i have to pay 50+€ for each show.
-
well, after skipping the past tour i will attend the show in my hometown cologne. sounds like a "escape from the studio" tour. does not have to mean the new album is anywhere close, just remember japan 2006.

it's always hard to judge a bands live performance by it's recordings. if you are at the actual show the sound is great. though, singing mistakes are drowned in the wall of sound.

i liked it from the start but it's still growing. chester and brad's guitar are amazing.

1. No Roads Left - my favourtie lp song to-date. absolutely epic! 2. Across The Line - addictive beat, great transition, amazing vocals 3. Lockjaw - atmospheric in an almost HTEP-way with a nice delayed guitar melody /something many great bands use, but lp don't) 4. blackbirds - calming still very catchy tune. i love the vocals and the odd structure 5. not alone - chester's voice is pretty unique in that one. chill track ------------------------------------------------------------------ 6. new divide - cannot stand anything aside from the bridge

wow, i feel ashamed how some people release their anger about whats wrong in the lp world on adam. im not following everything on here, still it is really immature to take him as a scapegoat just because his opinion differs from everyone elses here yet still is not less extreme. i keep asking me how so many people literally rip him apart and insult him while accepting the much bigger "douche" around all the time. sometimes i don't get you guys . on topic: i think as long as lplive gets credit it shouldn't be a problem. on the other hand, mark, you now got a glimpse on how it has to feel to write/record/release music today when you find your hard work all over the internet shortly after (or months before...) the release date. it's the world we live in these days. this is not meant to be an insult to you or anyone. just saying.

thx for the videos and your effort, ana. just one quick advice for future endeavors, you should either film/tape OR enjoy the show . it has a huge influence on the audio quality if you constantly sing along in all tones . aside from that good work!
-
there is so much truth in that in too many ways.
-
nah, don't be so hard with yourself. it was all a bit of a misunderstanding and the whole topic should get laid to rest. let's continue to be happy about the new shows those guys provided us. @michaelangelo i know about the problem concerning the person you mentioned but as i seem to be on the minority of people actually feeling offended by his behaviour there is not much we can do about that. as long as he can say what he wants in the harsh tone he actually uses about 90% of the time and gets away with it we can't do anything else but accept that while keeping on. don't let that affect your taping activities.
-
oh, and not to forget: thank you blackchester aswell as michaelangelo in the other topic. it's you guys who keep this site entertaining (along with all the productive staff members of course) and i really do worship your effort you put into taping AND sharing. great job!

well put, thank you!
