Linkin Park is once again trending on Twitter, but this time for something else.

American President Trump used a clip of an “In the End” cover in a social media video.

The band responded by taking the video down from his tweet and issued a statement saying, Linkin Park did not and does not endorse Trump, nor authorize his organization to use any of our music. A cease and desist has been issued.”

Both Joe and Mike posted about the situation on their Instagram feed and story, respectively.

Do they endorse Joe "sniffer" Biden?

About the topic; black and white it a 100% DMCA thing period. Thy should had left it like that, just a legal thing. But now they made it a political thing. Musicians should try to stay away from politics for the sake of their fanbase.

No they shouldn't. They have a choice, and if they think spreading their values is more important than a couple of fans then by all means they should do it and use their platform. It is up to the fan what to make out of it.

Anyone, celebrity or not, should be allowed give their political opinion. Also its hilarious how people in the comments were saying celebrities should stay away from politics, while supporting a president who was a celebrity...

Just imagine that you are a popular musician and you are in this situation. The person that you would never vote for, was using your music. I'm 100% sure you at least would want to say something about it in the social media.

Because, if you will say nothing, it is kind of like you agree with this person.

For ex-fan: if someone stops being a fan of Linkin Park and wants to get rid of their collection, you can send me your collection of CDs and DVDs 😜

No More Sorrow ? Hand Held High ? Wretches and Kings ?

not everyone who is against Trump, is socialist, communist or directly supports Biden

For example, I consider myself center-right and don't support Trump and my country's current president and that doesn't make me socialist

What about GATS and Rebellion too ?

Wasn’t GATS specifically referencing record labels and how they push their artists to turn to whatever sound is popular for profit?

Rakim's part was definitely referred to that topic, but Chester's lyrics could apply to greedy/corrupted politicians too IMO

This is an outstandingly shitty take. Musicians are people and people are allowed to express their political beliefs however the hell they want. They should just stick to music to appease their fans. Taking that stance even if it will upset some fans shows integrity. For the record, I'd be saying this even if I supported Trump.

Definitely this. I wouldn’t probably be a diehard LP fan if they were openly white suprematists and supporting the extreme right side but I think musicians need to express their opinion about politics. Not a big fan of super politically oriented bands because it tends to influence my judgements on music (stupid example: if The Catalyst was a racist song lyrically wise it wouldn’t be one of my all time fav songs) but I’m glad LP took a position on this thing and Mike spoke about Black lives matter during the streams

By putting out a statement disavowing the use of their music in a Trump video, which was retweeted by Trump himself, they ARE making an effort to stay out of politics. So everybody saying "They should keep politics out of it" don't realize that's literally what they're doing.

Sending a cease & desist to Trump's campaign is not the same thing as endorsing Biden. At the same time, though, let's just be honest and admit that EVERYTHING is political now. The only way to distance themselves properly was to acknowledge that it happened and that they didn't appreciate it.

Bad take asided, this is everything that's wrong with bipartisan politics. Why does being against the actions/ideals of someone has to mean you're immediately supporting his adversary.

A true democracy should be more concerned about debating problems and how to fix them, not to endlessly point fingers to say who's less bad than the other 🧐
