  1. Because you're posting in a thread that's nearly a year old...
  2. Bad post. Against rules. Suspension.
  3. Courtesy of Mike's blog: August 30, 2009 Thanks to everyone who came out for last night's Glorious Excess (Dies) opening; images of everything are on the way today. In the preview video for GLXS, some of you noticed a song by Metric in there. I mentioned the band Metric a long time ago...http://www.mikeshinoda.com/comments/recommended_music-music_business/metric_talks_about_self_releasing_album...and some of you know I like their music. Their album "Fantasies" contains a song called "Gold Guns Girls." When I first heard it, I thought: this is like a theme song for Glorious Excess! Well, I contacted the band, and (to make a long story short) I remixed the song. With their blessing, it's now on the "music" page here on mikeshinoda.com http://www.mikeshinoda.com/music If you like this song, check the band out at http://www.ilovemetric.com/. The band will be making the song available to fans soon...but you're getting the exclusive here first! Source here. Head on over to the 'Music' page for the actual track. Sendspace mp3 download provided by Neil: Here.

    LPU9 CD

Unless I'm mistaken, that refers to a song that had a string section recorded for MTM but didn't make it to the album.
  5. I like it. Moved to the Newswire, even if it's only a temporary thing. Mods and staff - keep this here for at least the weekend, then move to the Downloads section if need be.
  6. Such CDs usually include a catalog number (or CAT, for short). In this case, they're usually prefixed by something like PRO-CD-11111.
  7. Just a little update for the taper of this show - It seems that your tape has now made it into the hands of Japanese bootleggers who are now selling it (At a cost of ~$40USD)
  8. Sadly, it's only a partial recording - 55 seconds or so.

    Donations

At the very least, we'll be identifying donators in one way or another. Just like we've given Contributors special status on the forums (those whose usernames show up as orange), those who donate money would be identified.

    Donations

PayPal would likely be the primary donation method, unless you happen to be at a show Mark is attending and can give him cash.

    Donations

Agreed. She Couldn't would have been perfectly suited for Rapidshare download. Some other things (lossless audio from full shows, DVDs) become a pain when you've got to download many large rar archives on a free account and most people these days abide by the 'I want it and I want it now' rule on the internet. Even I don't have the pateince to download 43 separate rar files for a DVD and then unzip them at the same time (and that's even with a premium account!)

    Donations

Staff here (me, really *lol*) have been fairly good at doing what we do on the eBay end of things. I see these items as a personal acquisition first and then a good chance for an exclusive for the site, not the other way around. If we start throwing other people's money around for an item and someone tries to stake a claim on an item because they donated the most... There's some issues there and could be a logistical nightmare. I don't think any of us would want to get involved with that.

    Donations

We'll always have a certain percentage of users who will be against RS or torrents or just about anything except direct downloads. If we were solely hosting mp3s and WMV files, direct downloads would probably be the primary option. As this site is dedicated to preserving quality in the long run, it's not always the best thing to take the 'risk' of a direct download. At the same time, we can't ask all users who want to download from us to have to obtain premium accounts for Rapidshare. We wouldn't be asking all users for donations, just those who are able and willing to.

    Donations

It's nice to see such a positive response to this. Prior to Mark posting this, several staff members were discussing this topic but we were truly unsure as to how it would be received. Since it was first begun, LPLive has been run by a dedicated group of volunteers who have donated their time, knowledge, money and other resources but it's gotten to the point where we'd like to do more. Donations would go toward any number of things, be it site improvements, a secondary source/mirror for downloads (not that we don't trust the current server, quite frankly we use far too much of of the bandwidth on it than I'd like to admit) as well as other things. Just as an example - Very recently, we offered a fairly small DVD of the Sonisphere broadcast. I say small (~650MB) as most DVDs could be 4 to 5 times that size for a full show. It was decided to use Rapidshare to distribute it first and, to date, here are the numbers: Total downloads of the files: 1467 Total bandwidth transfer: 130 GB The 'cost' of doing so as a direct download would have been a large chunk of our bandwidth number for the month which as some of you may recall, resulted in us having to temporarily suspend downloads last month. That's something we didn't like to do and hope to avert in the future. While nothing's been settled yet, I'm fairly confident that if/when we begin accepting donations LPLive users will be as supportive as they have been for just about everything else we've done. As for ads - They'll never appear on this site if I have anything to say about it. As this subject keeps coming up... 1) This is not the final exclusive we have set up. It may be the last thing anyone would ever want or need though. 2) As this exclusive has been delayed, several others have been lined up and are currently in the works. The 'last' exclusive has quite literally been held up due to a number of factors, completely outside the control of any of the staff here. LPLive members can take this as a guarantee - we'll be working as hard and as fast as humanly possible for this release as soon as we're able to.
  15. I'm used to more than a few styles and can switch pretty quickly... I can't say I prefer one style to another after all these years.
  16. It gets a bit fast and furious in popular threads... We've got to be quick to merge double (or sometimes even triple) posts in an effort to keep things as manageable as possible.
  17. Maybe a double post was merged? Be sure you check the previous page, looks like this might be the case.
  18. No disrespect meant whatsoever. I'd been working on the mp3s myself, having taken them from the DVD I posted. As for the YouTube links... Well, there are going to be dozens of them, right?
  19. Not my YouTube account, just for the record.
  20. Just added the mp3s to the first post.
  21. I'm sorry. Next time I'll upload it to every file sharing site so that everyone can be happy. Please feel free to not download it, mmmkay?
  22. Contents of the DVD: 01 - New Divide 02 - Chester Interview 03 - Crawl Back In
  23. It contains only what was broadcast.
