  1. I have a guitar tab done for it already, but I'm waiting until LPU9 officially launches to put it up.
  2. The live acoustic version of Morning After is confirmed (it's mentioned in the package contents), but won't be available until the LPU9 website launches. It's the same thing they did with Crawling live and LPU8/Songs From the Underground.
  3. Just figured out the guitar in Across the Line in about 15 minutes. One of these days, I'll actually challenge myself. I'll post the guitar tab when LPU9 officially comes out.
  4. I think another reason Across the Line may not have made the album is that it kind of evolves in the same way In Pieces does, it's very poppy, almost danceable for the first part, then goes full-blown rock for the ending.
  5. I'll at least do Across the Line eventually, once I figure it out. Probably A-Six too. I've never really bothered with guitar parts for demos in the past though, so I'm not sure about doing everything.
  6. A-Six: This is pretty cool. Based on the structure (a pretty defined verse-chorus repeating thing), it sounds like this was originally supposed to be a full song that they never came up with lyrics for, so they re-wrote it later on as a short instrumental. Kinda disappointed that the second riff from the short version of A.06 is nowhere to be found in this version, but this is still probably my second favorite song on the disc. Faint: Cool to hear that this version has the original guitar part in it that you can see Brad recording on LPTV. Some pretty interesting musical changes and some of Mike's lyrics are pretty good, but it kind of stinks that Chester's only input on this one is the lone scream at the end of the bridge. Obviously they hadn't come up with a chorus for this one yet at the time this demo was recorded. Sad: Hmm. I'd assume this is the initial "seed" that was refined into Super Xero, and later into By Myself. Short, but interesting, and totally different from any of the other By Myself demos we have. Fear: Kind of disappointed in this one, I was hoping we'd get the version heard on the Making of Minutes to Midnight, where Mike's singing the same melody from the final version, with different lyrics. I like the alternate melody on this version, and it's cool to hear that Mike was at least thinking about putting a rap part in the song at one point, but the lyrics are obviously in an extremely early stage at this point, and the music is barely any different from the final version, so it doesn't have too many redeeming qualities compared to other songs on the disc. Figure.09: This is so different from the final version, it's barely even the same song! Chester sounds good, but this is essentially the opposite of the Faint demo: The chorus was done, but the verses were missing. The chorus reminds me a lot of a song by another band, but I can't remember what it is right now. Stick and Move: Biggest disappointment on the disc. I was hoping for a Chester-sung version of the song, instead we essentially get the sampled beat from the Xero version with all the other music stripped away. I can see how this falls in chronologically, they probably didn't care for the original Stick N' Move much, so they stripped it down and re-wrote it from the ground up. I'm surprised this doesn't at least have the guitar riff over it though, as that's the one really obvious similarity between Runaway and the Xero demo of this song. Across the Line: This is a REALLY good song. It kind of reminds me of Carousel lyrically, with one verse talking about a guy and the other talking about a girl, and how both of them deal with their demons. This came a long way from the early "Japan" stage. I kind of have a feeling this was cut from the album because it shares some lyrical themes with Hands Held High, and they probably felt they had to pick one over the other. HHH is a better song regardless of how good ATL is, so they made the right choice there. And assuming this is one of the 4 b-sides that were cut from the final tracklisting of MTM, that means there are only two left that we don't have, the famous "sixth string song" being one of them. Drawing: Very different from what I was expecting. The original keyboard strings are cool, but Mike must have had a spaz attack or something starting with the second verse. The Aphex Twin-like beats throughout the rest of the song are really distracting, I'm pretty glad they did away with those. Drum Song: Kind of the same comments I had about Fear. On the LPU Referral Contest video, you can hear part of the song where it sounds essentially like the final version, just with Mike singing instead of Chester. This is obviously a much earlier version than that one. Unlike Fear however, this one has a bunch of musical differences that make it pretty cool, even if there are hardly any real lyrics in it. I won't rate each song on a scale of 1-10 like I usually do with reviews, just because the scores wouldn't really reflect how much I like the songs. I don't find any of the 8 demo versions "better" than their final versions, but in most cases it's hard to even compare them in that sense because these are such early versions, even compared to the existing demos we had. The bottom line with these songs is that I'd much rather have them than not have them. Favorites: Across the Line, A-Six Least favorites: Fear, Stick and Move
  7. Yeah, if some already have it out now, I would imagine most stores would have it out on Friday.
  8. It's not particularly hard to IM/text/email people asking if they can hook you up. We don't have any control over that, nor do we really care if you choose to do so. These forums aren't the place for that though, it's a rather simple rule to follow.
  9. Yeah, a demo of 75% nonsense lyrics is better than the final version. Totally. Although I will say I like the melody better than the final version.
  10. You guys must have extremely short attention spans, weren't you JUST asked not to spam the other thread with "ZOMG PM ME" requests? That thread went down the shitter and got locked. This one is headed down the same path extremely quickly.

    DBS tabs

The small bit of the solo I posted on the first page of this thread is all I've tabbed for that song. Haven't even started working on it yet.
  12. Ryan's backing vocals with DBS are the most embarrasingly out-of-tune vocals I've ever heard on stage from any band ever, going all the way down to garage bands started by a bunch of junior high school kids. Listen to him on Condemned, he's not singing in anything remotely close to the correct key. He sings fine when he sings lead vocals with Julien-K, but he can't do harmonies or backing vocals for crap. His backing vocals were the biggest drawback to Orgy's live performances as well. DBS already samples some of the backing vocals, they should seriously just start sampling all of them and take Ryan's microphone away. He's that awful.
  13. *facepalm* Nobody ever said or even fucking implied that it was him.
  14. Which means absolutely nothing, because as I already said, he was clearly referring to the song assuming we thought it was a Xero song. He didn't say anything that would confirm or deny if it's a Mark solo song.
  15. If only I had the money, I'd totally bid on this. The drummer and singer in my band are HUGE Blink-182 fans.
  16. Ryan Shuck's atrocious backup vocals ruin every DBS live performance. Until he learns how to sing, DBS will never be a good live act. Anyway, the interviews really aren't that big of a deal. This wasn't a Dead By Sunrise show, it was a Tony Hawk skateboarding show featuring Dead By Sunrise as a musical guest.

    DBS tabs

Ryan may play it in a different position than the way I tabbed it, but it's the same notes and I really don't care about positionings with DBS tabs the way I do with LP stuff, mainly because even Ryan and Amir play certain parts using different positions from time to time (the A5 chords in Crawl Back In being based at the 5th fret on E vs. the open A string, for instance). Plus Ryan completely screws up the solo on that recording anyway.
  18. That's clearly not Mike. That's either Frank Delgado (Deftones usual keyboard player) or Rick Verrett from Team Sleep.
  19. Right, but he also wouldn't use "us" if he was referring to a song that's only supposed to involve Mark, and not any of the other members of Xero.
  20. And as I already said, he's clearly referring to the song assuming that people think it's a Xero song - "doesn't even sound like us." Nobody except a select few ignorant people who don't have a clue about anything ever thought it was a Xero song, it could still be Mark singing on it.

*nod* One guitar repeats that rhythm throughout the verses while the second one plays a similar part that has more variations in which notes are muted and which ones aren't. I'd have that song tabbed already if I could just figure out one of the parts in the outro.
  23. Question 1: No. One of the guitar harmonics at the end of each verse is different, and the whole song is mixed differently, most notably on the scratching effects during the intro. The synth-y parts during the verses are also louder, and some of the echoing effects on Mike's vocals are a little different. Question 2: Mike commented on this song on one of his LPMB posting sprees a couple months ago, and said it wasn't a real song. That could just mean he thought we were calling it a Xero song (which we already knew it wasn't) and it actually is Mark singing, but the authenticity of the song has never been confirmed. If it is authentic, it would've been recorded sometime in the late 90s after he left Xero, but the other musicians playing on it are anybody's guess.
  24. Anniversary of an Uninteresting Event has piano in it, so I'm assuming that's what Mike played.
  25. Just checked, and he didn't do it at the show before Charlotte or the show after Charlotte, so that was probably the only time.
