  1. On Genius, annotation in green are artist-verified unless otherwise stated elsewhere. That being said, Genius is pretty reliable because you don't have people upvoting random crap about music to be approved. It's based on a system of upvotes, so if someone's interpretation is completely off it'll be downvoted. March 17 is a Friday and that's usually when music is released, so it's more of an educated guess if anything. No one really knows if there are collaborators credited with the song either, it's just safest to assume that those were the three members of the band that wrote the track.
  2. This would make sense if the song was called something like "Battle Cry" or "Battle Call." The word "symphony" really doesn't scream something aggressive - it moreso represents something beautiful, which the song embodies. Plus, it does actually include a symphony.
  3. First impressions of this song: I like it a lot. There's a very genuine message to the song that's present in both the delivery and the lyrics. It's a song about never giving up in the face of something huge, because you'll always have a symphony of people important to you backing you up. I love in the first chorus where its quiet with just Chester and the light marching drum in the background, giving it a hero's vibe as it builds up back to a classic electro-LP beat. There's just a lot of sweetness and pleading in this song that makes it, for me, a real winner. The entire chorus is just beautiful - and it's all Chester. The final chorus kills me with that final delivery of "This is my battle symphony / Please just don't give up on me." Really sweet and powerful song. Very empowering and relatable. In comparison, I do like 'Heavy' more than this song, but I do think both are very great songs and are intrinsically Linkin Park. The same thing happened with 'Heavy' that I expect to see here with 'Battle Symphony': the first few days are all about the negativity but then people will slowly start growing on it. The beat is pure poppy-Linkin Park (very reminiscent of Living Things, in fact I'd call this song a poppier 'In My Remains'); it has a modern, summery vibe to it with a slight hip-hop touch to it. This song to me is a Minutes To Midnight reincarnation of 'In My Remains' with electronic elements. There's lots of electronics going on in the background, and the swelling synths that occur in the verses are the pure LP formula, and the powerchords in the choruses are definitely gonna sound great live when they're brought up. I'll probably write more about it on my site or in some form of editorial here, but these are my first impressions.
  4. That may be one of the filthiest remixes in Linkin Park's career, jesus. Imagine them playing this live, holy shit!
  5. At this point, you would've thought that the band's upcoming summer European tour has been completely confirmed, but it seems there is a possibility that the band may be adding one more show to it: the United Kingdom. The band's production manager Jim Digby tweeted a picture today of the crew getting one of the band's summer touring rigs ready for their European Tour then. What's interesting is that the paper taped to the rig says "UK June A-Rig," hinting that they may be using that rig in the UK. EDIT: Digby replied saying: "sorry y'all it's just the freight destination where it gets on the trucks" This could mean multiple things. What seems most logical given everything we know is that the band will be using the UK as the "storage" area so they can ship out the rigs to the rest of Europe from one centralized location. On the other hand, a Pheonix interview from October 2016 says the band has a UK Tour planned for this year. Normally we would cite something more recent, but so far everything he said about the timeline in that interview has been correct: music released early in the year, a European Tour, Asia Tour, US Tour (which we could've guessed regardless), and a UK Tour. There is definitely time at the beginning of the tour: the band (or by extension, Mike) doesn't have to be in mainland Europe until June 7, as Mike has a keynote address to deliver at a music tech convention in France on that day. They could easily play a few shows at the beginning of June and the end of May. What are your thoughts? It seems feasible, but it's all a matter of how you look at it. The One More Light touring rumors thread was just updated with the latest information, so be sure you check it out an discuss other rumors there. The band's next performance is at the ECHO Awards in Berlin, Germany, so we may be on the verge of the band's first full performance - it seems pretty unlikely they fly to Germany for just a single song performance alone. Mike said the band has show plans for March and April, so something will definitely be coming soon. Follow us on Twitter and like our Facebook page for the latest info on the band! 6. That would be crazy. I know we still find out about more collaborations nearly every week, but I would've thought we would have heard something about this. Interesting to me that the next song being released isn't one of the songs they've performed yet. Half the album will have been out to the public (in some form - fans heard 'Invisible' live) two months before the record's out. I would have a problem with it, but unlike THP the song's aren't technically revealed yet, and if anything this is all an indication that we'll actually see a decent amount of songs from this record played live! 4/5 songs we know about (assuming 'Battle Symphony' is coming) have been performed live, and even though 'Talking To Myself' was acoustic, we can pretty much assume at least the title track, 'Heavy,' and 'Invisible' will be performed full band. Really shaping up to be an interesting cycle, especially on the live scene.
  7. Amazing find dude, thanks so much for sharing!
  8. Lovely video. Hopefully this puts the perspective of the song into some people's eyes.
  9. Bumping this because Linkin Park Japan and the promoter have said the announcement will come in Mid-April.
  10. UPDATE: The band performed 'One More Light' for the first time! https://www.instagram.com/p/BRUiYx1jTLJ/ UPDATE 2: Talking To Myself: https://twitter.com/LPLive/status/838958186568744960
  11. There's a sufficient lack of live performances until May in the Linkin Park camp, but it seems like there will be plenty of impromptu performances over the next few months. The band went to the Warner Bros Records building today (which is decked out, One More Light style) and presented some music to the attendees in the lobby. The band posted a brief video of them performing 'Heavy' in the stripped down version we've seen before (barring a guest appearance from Kiiara) in the lobby of the building. Chester's on vocals, Mike's on piano, and Brad on guitar. You can check out the videos here and here, or watch the band's stripped down performance of the track with Kiiara from their Facebook Livestream below. It would appear that the band performed another song, as well - we can only assume it's the as-of-yet-unheard track 'Invisible,' which the band performed on The Late Late Show With James Corden the other night. No audio from either performance has shown up yet - though there is a soundless video of Mike singing on the piano from this event here. Additionally, if you look closely in the background of this video, you can see a second guitar in the background of this picture for Brad to use, presumably for 'Invisible.' If they did in fact play the song, this would be the live debut of the stripped-down version of the track. UPDATE: The original soundless video has been uploaded WITH sound, and it appears that the band performed 'One More Light' instead of 'Invisible'! This is our first taste of a new song from the album that's not 'Heavy' - what do you think of the clip? UPDATE 2: The band also performed 'Talking To Myself' for the first time. More and more clips keep popping up - we'll let you know if anymore new songs show up. Let us know what you think of these clips! SETLIST: 01. Talking To Myself (Stripped Down; Live Debut) 02. One More Light (Stripped Down; Live Debut) 03. Heavy (Stripped Down) Show page Watch Linkin Park and Kiiara play 'Heavy' for the first time full band on The Late Late Show With James Corden. It seems like we'll be seeing a lot more of these "showcase" performances over the next few weeks... Surely we must be close to a warm up show before the tour soon! If any more videos from this event show up, we'll keep you covered. The music video for 'Heavy' is due out on March 9, so after you watch it, be sure to check back here and tell us what you think! 12. Music video will finally be out on the 9th.
  13. Show page is up: http://lplive.net/shows/db/2017/20170227
  14. Ethan Mates mixing the performance. No Kiiara, and Mike at the helm? Hmm.
  15. Added the 'Invisible' note to the post. Interesting.
  16. Linkin Park's back in action. Grab some popcorn and get your couch ready, because it's promo time! Linkin Park and Kiiara will be performing 'Heavy' on The Late Late Show With James Corden on February 27! As customary of any artist with a new album, they have to start promoting the new music. Usually this means making appearances on TV and playing some random shows in some big markets. Promo season is just starting for Linkin Park, and this performance will be their first of the cycle. This show also marks the band's first full-band performance since November 2015 - that's a bit over fifteen months without a full show. We saw Chester and Joe onstage in China in the summer of 2016 and Mike, Chester, Brad, and Kiiara performing stripped down versions of a few songs just over a week ago, but we haven't seen all six members onstage together since the Relief Live! show in November 2015. While this TV appearance won't be a full show, it's also worth noting that the band's last FULL show was at Blizzcon, a week before Relief! Live. The Relief! Live show was the first time the band opened a show with 'From The Inside' by itself. In 2009, the band opened their show in Shanghai, China with 'Session' and 'From The Inside,' as they had to drop 'Given Up' due to China's strict censorship rules. Something worth nothing about this show is that - as we mentioned before - Kiiara will be performing with the band! You've already heard her in 'Heavy,' and if you watched the band's Facebook livestream from earlier this month, you'll know she has a pretty strong live voice. She sang both 'Heavy' and an excellent piano version of 'Burn It Down' with Mike and Chester - we've yet to see her sing with the entire band in play, but we're sure it'll be great. She's been in rehearsals with the band for the last week or so in preparation for promo performances (we spotted her on Joe's Instagram videos from rehearsal), so it won't be too surprising if we see her and the band perform together a few more times together. This stripped down version of 'Burn It Down' is one of the, if not the best, performances of the song ever. Chester's vocals are more in shape than they've been in awhile (thanks to his vocal coach), Kiiara adds a special something to the track with her voice, and Mike singing his part add up to a truly awesome and beautiful version of the song. Something we're all hoping for is Linkin Park in Carpool Karaoke. We're sure you've heard of it, but if you haven't, here's the gist of it: James Corden gets in a car and picks up an artist while he drives to the set and sings songs with them. There's been a wide variety of guests: everyone from , , and to and have done Carpool Karaoke with Corden. We're not sure if LP will be doing one or not, but fingers crossed that they do! There are three parts of the show we can look forward to as far as the band appearing on the show: the beginning, when Corden talks to the guests, during the show, if Carpool Karaoke happens, and for the band's actual performance. EDIT 2/27: Phoenix posted a picture to his Instagram page of Brad practicing backstage. The paper he's reading off of says 'Invisible,' a song title on One More Light. Is there a surprise coming tonight? Who's excited to see the band back onstage? This will likely be the first of several promo performances going on, as well. We're even thinking that the band has some secret club performances coming up... It seems most likely that Los Angeles and New York (amongst others) may be on the market for that. Keep your eyes peeled. The Late Late Show With James Corden airs on CBS at 12:37am EST (check your timezone here), so make sure you set your alarms and don't miss it! 18. Adding WID, WY, Runaway, and the new song with an acoustic part.
  19. Fixed. Watched the video and noticed that, but forgot to change it back.
  20. Second livestream with Brad. Interesting info: - He's using his modified 6-string PRS (standard tuning with a dropped B at the top) for 'With You' and 'Runaway,' which "may show up" in the setilst. - There's a song with an acoustic part that Brad will be using a capo on the 5th fret for.
  21. I think you're taking this entirely too personally, based off of this response and others you've made. They're clearly just fucking around here, and I'm sure they do look back at the HT/Meteora days and laugh about it. Let's face it - they've matured and grown a lot since then, and their perspective of that kind of music will definitely have changed. If they didn't acknowledge those songs as songs that made a difference to people and their careers, then yeah, they would've dropped them. They know what people want to hear, but all the same they know what THEY want to hear from themselves. Nu-metal is outdated anyway. It might as well be laughed at, at this point.
  22. As the band starts rehearsing for promo shows and their upcoming tour, they'll be preparing some songs to play live. Here, we'll compile evidence and discuss what songs they'll be playing. Usually, we can scour rehearsal videos and pictures to find anything we can, but feel free to post any speculation. *We can assume all the big singles like 'One Step Closer' and 'In The End' will be played, so unless there's specific evidence pointing to them being played, we'll leave them unlisted. Possible Songs: - Heavy - no brainer. - Battle Symphony - also a no brainer. - Good Goodbye - On an Instagram Live stream after the track went live, Mike mentioned how he would rap the demo verse of 'Good Goodbye' live if Stormzy or Pusha T weren't with the band. Later, on the day of the announcement of the North American Tour, the band posted a video of them at rehearsals performing a new live version of the song lacking Pusha's and Stormzy's verses and a new verse from Mike. - Talking To Myself - In his guitar rig tour, Brad said that he is using a guitar with a capo on the fifth fret of a standard tuned guitar for a brand new song that has an acoustic part in it. If you look at the video of the band playing the song at the Warner Bros party, Brad plays this song with a capo on the fifth fret. - Crawling (Piano Version) - Chester has said they are planning on performing stripped down songs on the upcoming tour. The band performed an acoustic piano version of the song at their Facebook Livestream, so it's possible this may be one of the songs they play. A lyric sheet for the song can be seen in this video (February 23 rehearsal), but it may just be left over from the Facebook show. - Burn It Down (Piano Version) - Chester has said they are planning on performing stripped down songs on the upcoming tour. The band performed an acoustic piano version of the song at their Facebook Livestream, so it's possible this may be one of the songs they play. It's safe to assume the band will play this song regardless of whether it's stripped down or not. - What I've Done - Mike briefly teased the intro of 'What I've Done' while playing a heavy version of 'Heavy'. - With You - In his guitar rig tour, Brad said that he might bring his modified 6-string with him to play 'With You' and 'Runaway.' - Runaway - In his guitar rig tour, Brad said that he might bring his modified 6-string with him to play 'With You' and 'Runaway.' - Lost In The Echo - During the livestream following the North American Tour announcement, the band performed 'Good Goodbye,' the video ending with the intro of LITE playing. - Wastelands - The band posted a video of them rehearsing the song on their Instagram story. Set Structure Here's what we can piece together from the various information as to how the set will be organized. xx. Good Goodbye (Ext. Intro; Alt. Live Version) xx. Lost In The Echo
  23. At the beginning of this video you can see two lyric sheets. On the left I think is Heavy and on the right is Crawling. Might just be leftover from the Facebook livestream.
  24. Guess this is the real nu-metal version of 'Heavy'
