  1. The best thing about this is that they stream on 320kbps and the platform claims to be free. Will be great to have the Twitch tracks officially released in good quality.

In general it sounds like another cryptocurrency scheme. They use their own currency called $AUDIO to pay the artists but it seems the "monetization" isn't implemented yet:

They recently added the possibility of artists listing their NFTs on the platform under the Collectibles tab, so you will find Mike's on his page. I see some stuff that wasn't on Zora.

Who wrote and produced the songs (demos) that were released off of Stagelight? The songs (demos) I'm talking about are Bruiser, Space Station, LP Jams 1 & 2, & Asteroids. Was it Mike?

Bruiser and Space Station were actual Linkin Park demos and likely created by Mike since the projects were in his computer. The others are demo tracks created for Stagelight with other sounds from the Linkin Park bundles. Not sure if the band was involved in their creation.

  3. Back in January 2019, indie pop band Sir Sly revealed they had written songs with Mike Shinoda for their third studio album. In February this year, the group announced a April 23, 2021 release for the album, The Rise & Fall Of Loverboy, via Interscope Records.

According to a new entry that has appeared on Mike Shinoda's BMI catalog, the song he worked on with the band is titled 'Are We Having Any Fun?' Since he isn't listed as a featured artist on the tracklist, it's very unlikely he contributed vocals to the track. His role was most likely producer.

Edit: The song is coming out this Friday! Listen to a preview here.

  4. Last year we reported about a limited edition Aqua Blue vinyl of Meteora scheduled for Black Friday, but later we heard from The Record Hub that the release had been postponed. The note said: "I'm afraid I'm the bearer of bad news. Our distributor has been in touch to say that due to a Christmas production backlog, Linkin Park: Meteora blue vinyl production has been postponed until Spring 2021."

Rock Sound now reports that the Meteora vinyl is confirmed for this year's Record Store Day along with releases by Evanescence, Alkaline Trio, Deftones, Pvris, Senses Fail, and others. Record Store Day will be taking place on two different dates: June 12 and July 17. Meteora is coming on the latter. Originally announced to be imited to 3000 copies, it seems they have increased that amount to 8500.

See the full list of RSD Drops with their quantity and release dates here.

  5. In celebration of the 20th anniversary of Hed PE's second studio album, Broke, the band's former guitarist Chad Benekos put together and released last August the documentary "Touring For Broke: A (hed)p.e. Film."

It's no secret that during this album's touring cycle they shared the stage many times with Linkin Park, starting in 2000 when both band's were supporting acts on P.O.D.'s Kings Of The Game Tour and later during Linkin Park's own Countdown To Revolution Tour. Starting at the 11:11mins mark on the documentary you can see Chester Bennington singing a cover of 'Pets' by Porno For Pyros.

Before the Countdown To Revolution show in Cedar Rapids, IA on November 30, 2001, members of (həd) p.e, The Apex Theory and Chester performed an improvised acoustic jam backstage as revealed by musician Zac Polk in 2017. He wrote on Facebook:

I got to be around Chester a couple times. Several years back, my boys from hed pe were touring with Linkin Park. Before the show we were all sitting backstage and one of the guys from one of the other bands (possibly Apex Theory?) Picked up an acoustic and starting playing a bunch of random covers, blues songs, etc. Chester was in the room and sat down and started singing and everyone just stopped what they were doing to listen. The dude was a true talent. I haven't kept up or listened to them in a while, but Hybrid Theory had a big influence on me.

Another person that got to be around during the jam posted: "So sad to hear about the death of Chester from linkin park, met those guys several times over the years one of my best times was singing acoustic sublime songs with him and the guys in hed pe."

To promote the documentary, Benekos also put together some brand new music videos for the songs on the album and the video for 'I Got You' happens to have footage of Chester on stage with (hed) p.e. at Zeta's Bonzai Show in Miami, FL on April 27, 2001. Our staff member Lestat contacted Benekos to inquire about the footage and he told us there is some cool footage of Chester with (hed) p.e. and Jared Gomes with Linkin Park that he might put out in the future.

Well, the future is now and here is a full video of Jared singing 'One Step Closer' with Linkin Park in Miami:

  6. I personally would love a release like Music Bank or Chris Cornell. A mix of greatest hits, rarities and unreleased content. There are some Linkin Park tracks such as Not Alone, Blackbirds, Final Masquerade (Acoustic) and Rolling In The Deep that never received a physical release. This would be the perfect way to do that. As a bonus they could include some of those One More Light leftovers like Friendly Fire, What Are You Worth, Ricochet, My Horizon, Tidal Wave and whatever else. Hell, we know there are some Hybrid Theory-era tracks still unreleased like Ashes and Turn To Grey. Imagine what they could release from other albums too. Chicken Basket, Fire In The City, Left Right, The Glistening. They could even include the live version of Looking For An Answer to at least give the song an official release.

I thought it was basically like deathcore like early BMTH, it’s not necessary to be that aggressive, kids.
    Calm the fuck down.

I can see how my choice of words can be perceived as aggressive and I fucking apologize for that.

Screaming like a fucking beast with lyrics about slaughter and blood ? It’s really a Mike thing 😂

What the fuck are you talking about? Do you even know what nightcore is? It's basically sped up / pitch shifted music. lol

It's closely related to the current hyperpop (see OSC 100gecs remix) trend.

well, and you didn't once again.

    edit:
man, that pic just shows the original tapes they sent to the studio at the time they recorded them. No relation with any tracklist, just random takes.

Just saw on Instagram. That tracklist is just this tape:

Nothing to do with the album.

  12. It seems everyone forgot about Mike doing the same thing with Post Traumatic. He released an EP and said he might do more if it's well received.

Agree on the fact that he’s not gonna out an album with press, cd, vinyls, etc just due to the demand of a strict fanbase. He’s smart enough to estimate and consider the situation as a whole with its pros and cons and then go for the cleverest thing to do.

That's a sad statement and fits in the sellout narrative. It's like he won't release music for the fans, but for the masses with the sole purpose of making money.
