  1. Mike Shinoda has released a new piece of music as part of his collaborative NFT with graphic designer Luis Nunez (aka MLNDR). The piece, titled "Malandro 176 - Cathedral (Mike Shinoda x MLNDR)", is part of Nunez' Los Malandros collection. The 3D piece features doodles created by Mike Shinoda and uses 56 seconds of 'Cathedral,' a song he created live on Twitch on January 7. Check it out in the link:

The full song can be heard here:

For those who haven't seen it yet, Mike Shinoda's remix of the "Example Sample" loop by WarpSound was released through the group's official Audius page on January 16th. You can listen to it here:
    https://audius.co/warpsound_ai/mike-shinoda-wvrps-"dj-dragoon"-twitch-remix-experiment-11322

WarpSound is a virtual group featuring the characters Nayomi, DJ Dragoon and Gnar Heart. The track Mike remixed is attributed to DJ Dragoon.

In real life, the project was created by Chris McGarry with composer Steve Pardo serving as audio director. All of WarpSound's music is AI-generated.

Mike remixed the track live on Twitch on January 13th following his talk with Xavier Coelho-Kostolny about NFTs on videogames. Unfortunately it was a paid stream and was removed the next day.

Not sure how I missed the LPA 2007 release as i was active way before that. Did LPA actually release them for a few hours or was it blocked shortly before release ?

If so i wonder if there are copies floating around

I remember it was up for some time (maybe even a few weeks). They posted 9 tracks in m4a format at first and said the rest would be coming later. Then they posted Anything, Anything in mp3 and after that the tracks stopped coming and they said the release was cancelled again. A couple of years ago we heard from LPAssociation they actually received the entire album from Sean but unfortunately they lost it.

Funny enough we had the 10 tracks released by LPAssociation in our channel for years (Sean even commented on it at one point) before the band decided to manually block it amidst the promotion of Amends. You'll still find the tracks on YouTube though:

Ask the band, they reply on IG/FB

They don't know shit. Sean reported several genuine copies of their old CDs as fake during the promotion for Amends which pissed off fans even more. lol

Okay, I know there are reasons not to trust his every single word and maybe this is not as important. But there's the second point: on Discogs there are four listed versions of '...No Sun Today' and the unofficial ones look (in the photos) exactly like the original re-issued one. Even their IDs are the same.

What happened in 2001 was that a limited amount of copies of the Grey Daze albums were sold in a store I don't really remember the name to take advantage of Chester's (at the time) recent success with Linkin Park. I think LPAssociation might have a news post about it. Could be just leftovers from the 90s, I'm not really sure. The guys from LPCatalog probably know better.

In 2010 Mace created homemade copies of the original ...No Sun Today CD, signed them and sold on eBay to make some extra cash. So that's the "2010 reissue." Apparently Sean never knew about this until it was brought up by fans during the promotion of Amends.

But the the problem is I recently started to dive into that topic and some of the data I found is kind of controversial. Firstly, there was this Sean Dowdell's post on Facebook where he stated in comments that there was no Re-issued version of '...No Sun Today' in 2001. But he also didn't seem to disagree on this interview when the Re-issued versions were mentioned:

The "attempts to re-release No Sun Today" was an actual remaster/re-mix/re-recording of the album that Sean worked on for their 2002 reunion when they needed to raise money for Bobby Benish's treatment. The audio is completely different from the original. Warner blocked the release several times and it never came out. LPAssociation posted 10 tracks from this version in 2007 before Warner blocked the release once again. The demo of B12 that Grey Daze released recently is actually taken from this version of the album.

But still, how do I tell a copy of the CD from a legit one?

Try to reach out to LPCatalog about this. Serg might be able to help you.

Hi guys, I was just checking out my bootleg collection and was wondering something, the LPU 3.0 had enhanced videos from Jimmy Kimmel Live 2003. Since I don't have the chance to have my own physical copy, have those two songs included the same quality as the internal VHS that featured almost the entire show, or has any kind of improvement? I always guessed that it was a simple rip-off from the TV broadcast, but just to be sure. Thanks!

The quality is pretty bad. I did a post about this recently here:

What robotic voice is the one that says in the Tasty Gas Vinyl "Mixed Media, Mr Hahn, Hybrid Theory..."?

Nevermind, just researched it. It's a Macintosh voice called "Trinoids"

Is that the voice from the end of High Voltage (HT EP version)? Here's a demo of the voice for anyone curious about it:

I was looking into it and apparently Trinoids was introduced in MacinTalk 3 along with a similar voice called Zarvox:

Isn't Zarvox the same voice used on Mic?

  6. Back in May this year, Mike Shinoda launched on Async Art a project a little similar to 'Ziggurats' called 'Decasentry'. The difference was that holders of the NFTs would have total control over the creation of new music and art variations using the 12 different stems created by Mike. Since its release, only 4 variations have ever been made available on the site: Stem Mix 0000, Stem Mix 1210, Stem Mix 2211 and Stem Mix 2221. The first two created by Mike himself during the auction and the latter two by the user who purchased all the stems.

Inspired by the recent 'Ziggurats' drop, we decided to take the stems and mix them ourselves to create all possible variations of 'Decasentry' so fans can enjoy them. All 81 versions are now available at our LPLive Archive YouTube channel on this playlist:

  7. We have a date for the first release of 2022! Steven Curtis' song 'Cold' from the #ShinodaProduceMe initiave became available for pre-order on iTunes yesterday with an expected release date for January 14, 2022. Curtis' biography describes him as "a one man band on stage with styles similar to John Mayer, Jason Mraz, and Ed Sheeran." 'Cold' is said to be "A song about losing someone you love." It was written in collaboration with Abigail Neilson, with whom he had previously released a cover of 'End Game' by Taylor Swift. The artwork was created by Russian illustrator Denis Istomin.

Mike Shinoda produced the song live on Twitch earlier this year, on April 29th and 30th, as the 30th entry on his #ShinodaProduceMe project. The original demo had multiple vocal and instrument tracks, including the main vocals and harmonies, piano, guitar, and strings. Shinoda described it as a ballad, pointing out it would be easy to make it heavier, but he wouldn't do that. He was particularly impressed by the strings, which sounded like real strings.

Mike chopped up the strings and added extra to create a beat. He then created more beats for other parts of the song, such as the pre-chorus, added a compressor to make the vocals more uniform, added a tuner on the entire piano chain and recorded guitar, bass and other interesting sounds.

In an interview to Occhi Magazine in June, Steven Curtis revealed he is a big fan of Linkin Park and Mike Shinoda:

"Before I was playing music I was really into Linkin Park, Avenged Sevenfold, Sum 41, and more rock music. Lately, my musical influence has changed overall and while they’ve inspired me the most for my earlier kind of work, I’m listening to artists currently like Post Malone, Mike Shinoda, Quinn XCII, and just a lot of independent artists trying to get their name out there."

Back then he announced a music video would be accompanying the release of 'Cold'.

  9. Great news for old school Grey Daze fans: Grey Daze has officially released Sean Dowdell's 2002 remaster of 'B12' in great quality! This version of the song features 'In The End'-esque guitars not present in the original 1997 recording.

Back in 2002 ...No Sun Today-era guitarist Bobby Benish was diagnosed with a brain tumor. To raise money for his treatment, the band planned a reunion show at the Dodge Theatre which had to be canceled due to Chester's contractual obligations with Warner Bros. Records. In addition to that, Sean also went into the studio to remaster the band's final studio album with the addition of newly recorded parts and a release set for June 2003 via Artemis Records. Unfortunately, Chester's label blocked the release from ever seing the light of day.

Fast forward to 2007, LPAssociation got a hold of the entire album and started posting the tracks one by one in anticipation of a new release attempt from Sean. Once again Warner intervened and LPAssociation was forced to stop releasing the songs before the album was complete. The new versions of 'Soul Song', 'Saturation' and 'The Down Syndrome (Acoustic)' never came out to the public.

Hopefully today's release means we'll finally get to hear this long-awaited version of ...No Sun Today!

I have a question regarding the 2003 Jimmy Kimmel show's audio/video. Here it says - 'Faint' and 'Don't Stay' appear as videos on the 'LP Underground 3.0' CD's Enhanced Content (PROSHOT). I've NEVER seen/heard 'Don't Stay' in better quality than the VHS one that is available, does LPlive have it archived somewhere?

That's because a CD has a total storage space of 700 MB. The "Enhanced Content" in CDs include several videos, images and flash files and they all have to fit in that space. Keep in mind the CD already contains lossless audio that's taking a lot of space too. In order to fit those videos in the CD they need to have a very small size, meaning very low quality. The VHS version is the best you'll find.
