  1. I mean, you're free to discuss it. I personally haven't found any song with that name anywhere. Not by Linkin Park and not by another artist named Xero. The title doesn't sound much like Linkin Park though.
  2. I'm pretty sure this was discussed before and everyone agreed it was a song by a different artist named Xero that was somehow mixed in with Linkin Park on BMI.
  3. We have some sad news today. American DJ, musician, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer Pierce Fulton has passed away last Thursday evening, at 28 years old, following a struggle with mental health as revealed by his old brother Griff on Twitter. The statement encourages fans and friends to send their condolences, photos, videos and recollections of Fulton to pierce@piercefulton.com. The family will be starting an organization in his honor soon. As Linkin Park fans we're all too familiar with the pain of losing your idol, so we'd like to offer Pierce Fulton fans our condolences and ask Linkin Park fans to please lift up his fans on this difficult period. Pierce Fulton made his name in the dance scene via house and progressive house productions. His single 'Runaway' topped Billboard's Emerging Artists chart and 'Kuaga (Lost Time)' was listed at number 38 on Billboard's Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart and used in a Smirnoff ad campaign. He released 3 studio albums, 4 EPs and numerous other singles. Additionally, he created remixes for the likes of Goldhouse, Steve Aoki, Usher and Felix Cartal. In the Linkin Park community, he is known as one of the authors of 'Waiting For Tomorrow.' The single was originally written and recorded during the One More Light sessions in collaboration with Martin Garrix, Brad Delson and Mike Shinoda but was only released in late 2018 following numerous delays. Different demo versions of the collaboration were first previewed by both Martin Garrix and Pierce Fulton during their sets starting in March 2016 and Fulton's version was passed around as a supposed leak of the song. It even received its own unauthorized lyric video from Garrix' former label! Listen below. The official music video for 'Waiting For Tomorrow' was released on October 19, 2018 and stars Ihor Bliusovych and Mike Shinoda. The track hit number 26 on Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. Source: Billboard
  4. Nevermind, that IS the November 17 demo. We somehow missed that there were 9 tracks instead of 8. So the Xero 818 demo remains a mystery.
  5. I think this might be the Xero 818 demo CD they were passing around in early November. We didn't include that anywhere because we didn't have a tracklist before. None of us remember that page you posted here at all. Maybe Jeff Blue updated his book? Is there an exact date (or any indication) for when Jeff Blue received the CD? My guess is late October 1998. The tracklist is very similar to the November 17th demo, but without Rhinestone before Esaul. The November demo also had Step Up replacing Pointillism. I wonder if these two songs are somehow related. We could try to ask Mike on Twitch about Pointillism and this soundtrack he was working on.
  6. Pointillism is a style of drawing. If a link doesn't work anymore you can always try the web archive: http://web.archive.org/web/20140714131410/http://mikeshinoda.com/2012/03/04/pointillism/
  7. I'm not sure what you're asking here, it looks pretty self-descriptive.
  8. Started here: https://lplive.net/forums/topic/11162-digital-releases/
  9. https://lplive.net/lpdigital/ No. A lot of singles from Hybrid Theory and Meteora are still missing from digital stores. Basically only Somewhere I Belong is available and it's missing the live version of My December. At least now we have all the Hybrid Theory b-sides available on HT20.
  10. So the mistake was calling it Stripped and the band never fixed it on the official store / bandcamp. Doesn't make much sense because they changed the name of the song to "The Syndrome" for Amends.
  11. I think maybe it was meant to be "Stripped" because the official site lists it that way and Bandcamp is also managed directly by the artists. The "Demo" thing could have been a mistake that the label is not willing to pay to fix (they'd have to pay to submit the songs again to stores/streaming). But I could be wrong. Could be the other way around. That track in particular is very similar to what they had released in 1997 while the others were either unreleased or newly recorded, so that could be the origin of "Demo" in the title. This is also the reason you see "Down Syndrome (Acoustic)" on YouTube. Grey Daze used to have both Wake Me and No Sun Today on their channel before they started promoting Amends. It probably recognizes the track as the 1997 version. The Amends Stripped version just contains some extra studio banter.
  12. Found the origin of more samples from the Mike MPC folder (the one with .snd files): - PUN&CLEF is Caribbean Connection by Big Punisher and Wyclef Jean. - HIERO_AAH is from You Never Knew by Hieroglyphics. - MOODY_LCHORD2 is House Of Four Doors (Part 2) by The Moody Blues. - KST_N_PARA2 is None But The Lonely Heart by Andre Kostelanetz. - J_NDREW_STAR is Parisian Pierrot by Julie Andrews from the Star! soundtrack. - TORIAM1 is China by Tori Amos. - FRM_RSSA is From Russia With Love by John Barry from the James Bond film of same name. - PORTIS2 is Half Day Closing by Portishead. I couldn't figure out PORTIS1, but it's certainly from another Portishead song. In addition, I think CSL_METH refers to The Crystal Method, SKILLZ to Mad Skillz and KRUSH might be from DJ Krush. PUN_NOISE might be from another song by Big Pun. There are several samples from Björk, one is even a voice sample but it's too short for me to know which song it came from. The strings and electronic noise might be easier to figure out. The samples are usually taken from the intro of songs. If anyone is interested, here's a free software to convert snd to wav so they're playable on any device: http://www.mpc3000.com/wavsnd.htm
  13. Ok, so here is a list of samples used in each Hybrid Theory demo: AL_INTRO: DRUMZ: EMO_PROGRAM: GOOP: HURRY_PRG: HURRY2PRG: KRAK: LA: MIC: MIDNIGHS: NEW_PROGRAM_01: OH_NO: QUA: RENDEZVOUS: RETURN: SIAMO: SIAMO2: SKY2: STICK&MOVE: STICK2: SWISH: TUFF: UGH: Some interesting things here: - Turns out "Rendezvo" and "Stick&Mo" were incomplete names too. The projects were actually titled "Rendezvous" and "Stick&Move"; - The Moody Blues sample was used on Qua; - The Madama Butterfly and Rendezvous strings were used both in Technique and the second version of Stick N Move (but not in the first!); - Sky (Crawling) uses several sounds created for Stick N Move and the strings are from a Björk song; - The Smashing Pumpkins sample was used in Hurry.
  14. As far as I know, it's listed everywhere as demo except for the official store where it's listed as stripped.
  15. So it turns out MOODYTUES is a sample from Tuesday Afternoon by The Moody Blues. Does anybody know in which Hybrid Theory demo this sound is used?
  16. Great find! I wonder if the other .snd files might reveal more information about the other demos as well.
  17. I think it wasn't the actual track, but the stems for fans to remix. Audius only had 5. He sent 10 on Twitch. I'm uploading them here: https://mega.nz/folder/6LhzgKrL#8ckvTPscoSx47cNo9en5WQ
  18. The best thing about this is that they stream on 320kbps and the platform claims to be free. Will be great to have the Twitch tracks officially released in good quality. In general it sounds like another cryptocurrency scheme. They use their own currency called $AUDIO to pay the artists but it seems the "monetization" isn't implemented yet: https://edm.com/events/audius-celebrates-mainnet-launch-deadmau5-live-stream https://edm.com/.amp/gear-tech/audius-3-million-active-users They recently added the possibility of artists listing their NFTs on the platform under the Collectibles tab, so you will find Mike's on his page. I see some stuff that wasn't on Zora. https://edm.com/gear-tech/audius-collectibles-nft-platform
  19. Bruiser and Space Station were actual Linkin Park demos and likely created by Mike since the projects were in his computer. The others are demo tracks created for Stagelight with other sounds from the Linkin Park bundles. Not sure if the band was involved in their creation.
  20. I guess I didn't pay enough attention when I was writing the post. lol
  21. Linkin Park posted about it on social media and they say June 12 instead of July 17. Does that mean the official Record Store Day list is wrong?
  22. Back in January 2019, indie pop band Sir Sly revealed they had written songs with Mike Shinoda for their third studio album. In February this year, the group announced a April 23, 2021 release for the album, The Rise & Fall Of Loverboy, via Interscope Records. According to a new entry that has appeared on Mike Shinoda's BMI catalog, the song he worked on with the band is titled 'Are We Having Any Fun?' Since he isn't listed as a featured artist on the tracklist, it's very unlikely he contributed vocals to the track. His role was most likely producer. Edit: The song is coming out this Friday! Listen to a preview here. "The Rise & Fall Of Loverboy" tracklist: 01. Honey 02. Loverboy 03. Welcomes The Pressure 04. Citizen [feat. Gary Clark Jr.] 05. Numb 06. Are We Having Any Fun? 07. thx. 08. Material Boy 09. sick sick [sic] 10. I.M.G. 11. Little Deaths 12. All I Want To Do Is Cry (In The Club) 13. d00msday 14. b!!!rds Pre-order the album here.
  23. Last year we reported about a limited edition Aqua Blue vinyl of Meteora scheduled for Black Friday, but later we heard from The Record Hub that the release had been postponed. The note said: "I'm afraid I'm the bearer of bad news. Our distributor has been in touch to say that due to a Christmas production backlog, Linkin Park: Meteora blue vinyl production has been postponed until Spring 2021." Rock Sound now reports that the Meteora vinyl is confirmed for this year's Record Store Day along with releases by Evanescence, Alkaline Trio, Deftones, Pvris, Senses Fail, and others. Record Store Day will be taking place on two different dates: June 12 and July 17. Meteora is coming on the latter. Originally announced to be imited to 3000 copies, it seems they have increased that amount to 8500. See the full list of RSD Drops with their quantity and release dates here.
  24. In celebration of the 20th anniversary of Hed PE's second studio album, Broke, the band's former guitarist Chad Benekos put together and released last August the documentary "Touring For Broke: A (hed)p.e. Film." It's no secret that during this album's touring cycle they shared the stage many times with Linkin Park, starting in 2000 when both band's were supporting acts on P.O.D.'s Kings Of The Game Tour and later during Linkin Park's own Countdown To Revolution Tour. Starting at the 11:11mins mark on the documentary you can see Chester Bennington singing a cover of 'Pets' by Porno For Pyros. Before the Countdown To Revolution show in Cedar Rapids, IA on November 30, 2001, members of (həd) p.e, The Apex Theory and Chester performed an improvised acoustic jam backstage as revealed by musician Zac Polk in 2017. He wrote on Facebook: I got to be around Chester a couple times. Several years back, my boys from hed pe were touring with Linkin Park. Before the show we were all sitting backstage and one of the guys from one of the other bands (possibly Apex Theory?) Picked up an acoustic and starting playing a bunch of random covers, blues songs, etc. Chester was in the room and sat down and started singing and everyone just stopped what they were doing to listen. The dude was a true talent. I haven't kept up or listened to them in a while, but Hybrid Theory had a big influence on me. Another person that got to be around during the jam posted: "So sad to hear about the death of Chester from linkin park, met those guys several times over the years one of my best times was singing acoustic sublime songs with him and the guys in hed pe." To promote the documentary, Benekos also put together some brand new music videos for the songs on the album and the video for 'I Got You' happens to have footage of Chester on stage with (hed) p.e. at Zeta's Bonzai Show in Miami, FL on April 27, 2001. Our staff member Lestat contacted Benekos to inquire about the footage and he told us there is some cool footage of Chester with (hed) p.e. and Jared Gomes with Linkin Park that he might put out in the future. Well, the future is now and here is a full video of Jared singing 'One Step Closer' with Linkin Park in Miami:
