  1. Ill be at Identity! Tons of hardcore LP fans will be going. Should be lots of fun! Ill try my best to keep a record of the set if nobody else can. Signed up for a m&g too so mabe Ill get to chat with mike for a quick sec. Oh and this post reminds me, Im totally calling a Dan Reynolds collab. If not on the album then live. Edit: didnt see that the track list was posted earlier. Oops! Haha
  2. Every song Mike makes fits his solo project by virtue of the fact that its Mike himself creating it
  3. The song is much more light and poppy than anything off post traumatic. But as you can see from the lyrics so far, its still very personal. I think the song is great!
  4. Aww yes LPL takeover! I'll definitely be in attendance!
  5. Alright bear with me here, I'm pretty tired after a day at work and being outside with fellow fans. Not to mention this was played in the middle of a ~50 person circle with a bluetooth speaker. I'll try my best to describe it but i'm not the best at describing music. I'll try hard to not misrepresent what we heard. I'll jot down my thoughts as they come to me: -The song does not have rapping. This is more along the lines of what we've heard on One More Light (but it's definitely a Mike and not LP song). -The song is about 3 to 3.5 minutes long at most. It doesn't overstay it's welcome and definitely feels like the perfect length. -The chorus is super catchy! It's still repeating in my head. Mike played the song twice and dared us to try and sing along the second time. We were all able to nail the chorus right away. -The bridge has this really cool drum sounding beat that kicks in. It gave me the same feeling I got when I first heard the New Divide bridge. It comes at you almost unexpectedly and mixes up the sound of the song in a new way. It's a highlight of the song for me. -This song has a lot of common elements we've heard from Mike and LP. Things like the song growing in sound as it progresses. Think of how songs like Heavy, Iridescent, and Shadow of the Day have their instrumentals get bigger as it goes on. In addition, Mike sings the chorus acapella/with quiet instrumentals (I couldn't really tell between the two) just before the final chorus kicks back in with the music (i.e. Heavy, Final Masquerade). -Not sure if i'm allowed to share the name of the song or some lyrics. What I can say is that this song continues the intimate approach that we got with Post Traumatic. Personal lyrics but delivered with an optimistic, almost upbeat sound is how i'd describe the song overall. -Don't expect to hear it anytime soon. Mike said it's going to be a while before anyone gets to hear it. The version we heard was not mixed or mastered. It was Mike's own mix. Still sounded great though! Alright! That's everything that I can remember off the top of my head. It went by so fast!
  6. Oh damn hahaha. The LP paparazzi caught me twinning it up with Mike! Still have the chorus looping in my head. Suuuuuper catchy. We’re in for a treat with this album.
  7. I'll toss in my vote for Jon Green as an unofficial 7th member! I got chills hearing him sing Battle Symphony at the show. He was fantastic for the whole show.
  8. I’ll be there!
  9. Section N1! I can't wait to meet all of you!
  10. I'm from the greater LA area so whether I get a ticket or not, I'll be there. I hope to meet as many of you as possible! We need to get all the ambassadors and fansites together!
  11. I'll preface this by saying i'll always support what they decide to do. My preferred choice would be that they continue with Mike handling all vocals. Mike and Brad are just to good of a musical powerhouse to hang it up. I'd also love to see the rest of the guys continue to make music with them as well. I also wouldn't be opposed to them being a mostly studio band with a few special shows every once in a while. I could also see this happening. They're going to want to spend more time with their families. They've said that before this unthinkable tragedy so I would totally support this as well. Maybe continue to experiment with more outside artists and have some cool vocal features. Jeff Gutt being someone that springs to mind immediately. Any other option besides the above would be a shame. I'd hate for LP to call it quits but at the same time, i'd also understand that decision as well. Chester is irreplaceable. I don't think anyone will argue that. I'm just rambling now though. It's going to be a while before i'm emotionally ready for new LP if it ever comes. Truth be told, I may never be ready. It's going to be an emotional gut punch hearing LP without Chester.
  12. Damn, this sucks so bad. I was never one for idol worship but i'd be lying if I said Chester wasn't a hero for me. I'd always fantasize about what musical ideas he had floating in his head and no matter how many other bands I've gotten into since listening to LP, I would always would look forward to a new LP album cycle. It became a lifelong tradition for me. I'm actually tearing up a little typing this because I don't know if i'll ever feel this way about a band or a musician ever again. My connection with them was truly one of a kind. They've been with me through all the milestones of my life. I've grown up right along side of them and their music matured right along with me. It's almost as if they held my hand and walked with me along this road we call life. I'm truly going to miss him.
  13. I just cant believe this is happening. I am shocked and devastated. Chester was THE voice for me. He was my Dylan, Lennon, Cobain. He represented everything about music that I loved. We'll never have another Chester and that hurts. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to meet him and express my gratitude. I'll always hold those memories dear until the day I die. Thank you for everything Chester.
  14. I've actually cried a few times already. I can't believe this. Feels like a part of me is gone
  15. This is going to be interesting.
  16. I wonder if this would have hit number 1 had they not enticed ticket purchasers with a "free" copy. Tons of concert goers don't give a shit about new material and purchase tickets based on an artists past or most popular work. It's a pretty slick way of boosting your first week sales. Well, we'll see if this ends up being the justification the band needs to continue on with this style. At the very least whenever they get criticism about this material they can now always pull the "but it hit number one on the charts!" card. Here's to hoping if they want to go the pop route for the rest of their career that they get a bit more creative. All I know is that if we keep getting more albums like this i'll officially have grown out of their music. Sucks to think about because they've been my favorite band since I started to seriously listen to music. Oh well, people change, tastes change.
  17. So I finally got to hear Talking To Myself live and in person. It totally lives up to the hype. SO good live. This is a welcome addition to the set in my opinion. Lots of energy, booming bass from Phoenix, and an easy sing-a-long hook that invites crowd participation.
  18. Hard times and Fake happy are such good songs.
  19. Damn, Sorry for Now is so good but that chipmunk shit is killin the vibe of the song for me.
  20. I'm annoyed that the free copies that came with my tickets counts as an album sale. I'd love to voice my opinion with my wallet but I guess I can't. If it wasn't for those free copies this would be the first LP album that I wouldn't own and that says a lot because I purchased the Recharged vinyl. Meanwhile, the album I like the least is getting a good chunk of its tracks played live. Where was this attitude for the LT and THP cycles?
  21. Just finished my third spin. Pretty underwhelming album. I think I've heard enough snaps, claps, and sorry-esque glitch vocals for the rest of the year. This might be one of the bigger annoyances I have with the album, I feel like a lot of the sounds become overused and when you hear them for the third or fourth time on an album, it loses that spark. I really dig Good Goodbye, Talking to Myself, and to a lesser extent Sorry For Now. The other tracks I really can't see myself coming back to that often and I'm sure once the novelty of being new wears off, they won't be getting any rotation in my playlists at all.
  22. Don't mind me. I'm just here... still waiting on the KTTK live debut... *sigh*
  23. Honestly, unless you want a chance to meet the band or Reeeally want the merch there's not much benefit to being in LPU anymore compared to its early years. I'd say California (more specifically LA) gets the most benefit from a membership. Back in the day when I was too young to go to the events, I'd renew solely to interact with people I met on the forums. Now, with social media, there's no point.
  24. Never signed up for presale. Haven't spent a penny on the album. Didn't share or click on one link the entire campaign. Still got my presale tickets just after 10 am PST. Great job as always Ticketmaster!
