The band didn't really start being on board the whole "release albums as instrumentals" until Living Things. I'm sure they will eventually go back and do the rest. Wasn't there a release planned for One More Light's instrumentals/acapellas that got canceled or something? I tried to buy the MTM instrumentals from someone (not this guy) and he wanted an outrageous amount of money. And if it's too much money for LPLive to pay (trust me, we've paid a lot for some stuff) then it's truly exorbitant.

I agree completely. I have been listening to Devil's Drop, It Goes Through, The Last Line, and Dancer (demo) lately which are all sung by Mike. Place To Start reminds me of Devil's Drop, especially the "oooh" vocal(s). I imagine the future of Linkin Park will bear sounds that are very similar to these Mall tracks, the Post Traumatic EP, and One More Light. We already see Looking For An Answer bear a similar sound to the One More Light era. I'm a big fan of that direction/sound and there is no reason why LP can't continue in that form IMO. Over Again is a massive song and is Mike just writing some emotional music.... he's a great songwriter and can churn out big hits very easily it seems. What a talent to have. An interesting comparison I want to bring up is Maroon 5. They really shifted to pop music big time, but they require a TON of songwriters on each song. Even then, their music is not that great (in my opinion). Their song Don't Wanna Know has like 6-7 songwriters on it and it isn't even an awesome song. My point is that it takes a band with a sort of similar style right now a lot of songwriters to accomplish what Linkin Park is very lucky to have - an extremely talented core songwriter and then additionally some good musicians. Sorry For Now is just Mike. They brought in some others to collaborate on One More Light, sure, but they mainly wanted to learn how others wrote songs, etc just to try it out. LP doesn't "need" or "require" help to write songs. Their massive discography speaks for itself and with Mike at the helm, look at how many of the songs were just incredibly large. If they do decide to continue with five members, they are going to be just fine in terms of success, good albums/music, charting singles, etc. Good point. Mike's tweet made it sound like he did not have any collaborators on the music at all, so using something from Rob that he just already had on his computer makes sense.

Rob Bourdon is on track 1.

The songs are great but may not be for everyone. Nothing wrong with that, LP is made up of a million different genres of music so you have people who would rather hear In Pieces versus No More Sorrow, or you'll have people like me that can jam to all of it unless its name is Lies Greed Misery. M. Shadows said that's what he respected about LP, David Draiman too, Corey Taylor too, that the ever evolving sound is a great thing.

I don't know man. Pretty impressive discography for Mike. Linkin Park, Fort Minor, random stuff like Wake Me Up. http://www.officialcharts.com/artist/9854/linkin-park/

Ha, I laughed at this because you've been asking for more Mike solo material for ages. And here it is, and it's fucking awesome. Yesterday when they announced he was releasing new music, I was anxious. There is new music and there's no Chester around. Maybe that's a natural emotion to feel... who knows, there's no handbook for how to deal with this. Also, like, "new music by Mike and they haven't said anything about LP?" Mike has said a lot of stuff since July 20th that has resonated with me and for that I am grateful. The comment he made at the Hollywood Bowl that said like, "you never know when it (grief) can take a left on you" hit me really hard. There was another one in Kerrang about the 10/27 show that said, "when someone like Chester passes away, it hits that group of fans really, really hard." Just the fact he acknowledged it is big, like he knows what we're going through (obviously, I mean it's probably 10x worse for him). The last six months have been pretty much a living hell for a lot of people, myself included. It's been rough. I didn't know what to think, like if the songs would be singing, rapping, a mixture, what genre, etc. I am very... shocked at what I hear, in a good way. The music is fantastic. Over Again might be one of the best things to ever come out of the LP camp. Leave it to Mike to take something so catastrophically disastrous and turn it into music that people will resonate with. I said earlier today that you didn't know you needed something sometimes until you have it. The videos are intense, the lyrics are incredibly intense. Mike has put everything out there, laid out all of his emotions, all of his raw feelings. I'm proud of him and respect him for laying it all out there like that. The comment he made about LP is fantastic. And then he said he wants to play shows with this stuff, and has more music (much more) to release. Damn. I'm thankful that his way of grieving is to make more music, or better put, one of his biggest outlets OUTSIDE of Linkin Park is to make more music instead of golfing, surfing, etc. Crazy. The reason you're seeing so many comments across all of social media, Reddit, fansites, etc, literally everywhere that says they are so god damn proud of Mike and are so supportive of LP continuing eventually, etc is awesome. Literally every STP post has been a disaster since Chester joined (and now Gutt) and people have trashed them. Linkin Park has treated their fans with the utmost respect since day one and have made them a big priority. The band being so in touch with the fanbase by doing M&Gs at every show, interacting with them online all the time, etc has really created a unique scenario in terms of a LARGE band and its fanbase. In an interesting comparison, the fans have the the band's back, but the opposite is true as well. No one in music wore their heart on their sleeve like Chester did. The man is an iconic legend and I miss him greatly. Huge shoutout to Mike and much respect from me for him putting his emotions on his sleeve for the world here. I'm excited for more. He/LP honors Chester in every single thing they have done since 7/20 and for that, I'm thankful.

On January 13th, Phoenix tweeted, "I’ve been working on a new project for the past few months (hint: it’s not music)... I’m excited to share it with you. More info coming on Monday! Have a great weekend" Today he has revealed what he has been working on... a brand new podcast titled Member Guest, featuring him, Mark Fiore (Linkin Park's videographer), and Brendan Steele (golfer). The Welcome page says, "If it’s your first time here, then you’re our guest… welcome! If you’ve been here before, then we consider you a member… welcome back! We are experts at a few things, and amateurs at many. Cheers to the endless pursuit of Golf, Music and Less important things." It says Brendan met Phoenix at the Wantagh 2014 show of the Carnivores Tour and says Phoenix and Mark have known each other since they were playing soccer at five years old. The first episode featured M. Shadows from Avenged Sevenfold. "M. Shadows" has achieved international success as the frontman for his band, Avenged Sevenfold. He joins the Member Guest podcast to discuss the perception of musical genres, jazz shots, caddies that swim to retrieve errant golf shots, to dealing with the loss of a band member." The three talk about golf, music, and more over the course of about an hour and ten minutes. Near the end, Matt describes the Hollywood Bowl show from his perspective and meeting Linkin Park fans from all over the world at the event. He also relates the loss of Chester to the loss of The Rev. With the first episode coming off well, we are excited to see who else they will bring in. Episode two is lined up with Tre Cool, who was also in attendance with other members of Green Day at the Hollywood Bowl show, and episode three will feature John Mallinger and Charley Hoffman. Check it out and subscribe to the podcast!

Just a heads up that we've added some previously unknown dates/appearances to the live guide as well as a few 2017 events we hadn't added yet. Usually we just add the dates and they can be seen at the bottom of our Statistics page but this is a pretty big update. We're always on the lookout for more guest appearances, missing dates, etc that we haven't added to the site yet. We are currently looking at some Alien Ant Farm 2001 and Adema 2002 guest appearances for Chester to add as well. It's very interesting to me that DBS was surviving under the table this whole time and Chester really never completely shelved it. They were going to do this show: http://lplive.net/shows/db/julienk1213/20120428and then the surprise 2017 popup shows in LA. In 2009 he said he was definitely going to make another album, which tells me he might have even had more material he was sitting on, but he had to do LP first.

No petition or campaign will work, I've literally done two completely different ones with no action. The first one was signed by a lot of fansites and posted by them... management and the band saw it. Mike said it wasn't up to him but he'd do it if he could... it is "above him" he said. The second one was the change.org petition I did after it worked for RHCP. But no response about that one. I've tried, hard. Pooch was even on board. Maybe one day they will have a change of heart and start digging through the archives.

Yeah that's a great Papa Roach album. They were cool as hell to the LP fans on the European Tour they did after Chester passed and they said they were super bummed they couldn't cancel shows to go to the 10/27 Hollywood Bowl show. I'm buying a M&G to meet them in Atlanta soon. Jacoby and Chester were/are both very depressed people in general and battle(d) a lot of the same demos. I respect him a lot.

It's always interesting to me to hear other peoples' opinions. It's a reminder how diverse the fanbase is and how opinions are all over the place. Remember that time Mike said a "majority" of LP fans are "gamers"? I don't think I've ever met an LP fan that plays video games, lol, nor have I heard of someone playing them. I guess his opinion on that is why they decided to put songs into games. Remember that guy at the Camden LPU Summit who said "can you please pick a better game to put a song into?" or something, LOL For the 10/27 show literally the only guest I didn't like was Oli, lmao. That's pretty funny. I thought Gavin nailed LOATR. I know everyone has different opinions, it was just funny that you said Oli was your favorite. Nothing wrong with that. The show was just a tribute to Chester and that was the only way they could play all of those songs plus all of those guests loved Chester. Really weird Leto didn't come and it sucks Papa Roach couldn't cancel their European dates so Jacoby could come. Besides Jay-Z playing a show in Anaheim and those other two... they got everyone obvious. Maybe Corey Taylor. Who knows, it was done well though in my opinion.
