I agree. I don't think we have, you're right. That's what makes it even weirder. I have no idea where it came from.

Take my money.

Robert DeLeo and Dean DeLeo from Stone Temple Pilots, Matt Sorum from Guns N' Roses/Velvet Revolver, Damon Fox from Bigelf, and Jimmy Gnecco performed Amazing Grace at Chester's funeral.

Yeah that's a good point. His voice is incredibly similar to Scott's. He was definitely way closer to Chester and was an actual friend of his... I don't know that he knew Weiland at all. The STP members describe the Scott situation as just a long downward spiral over years, but Chester's was so sudden. Both are sad but the Chester one has a more devastating impact because literally no one saw it coming. I think that's why Gutt is so like, "...holy shit"

On March 16th, Stone Temple Pilots will release their first full-length album since their 2010 self titled effort with Scott Weiland. The new album is also self titled, but fans are referring to it unofficially as "Butterfly" due to the artwork's design. With the heavy last few years that the members of the band have had, it was inevitable that at least some of the new music would be centered around Scott and Chester. The band wastes no time dedicating the album. Here are some photos of the booklet from the STP Everlasting group on Facebook: "In loving memory of Scott Weiland and Chester Bennington. We miss you." In Jeff Gutt's "thank yous" in the liner notes, Chester is the tenth person that he thanks in his extensive list. The new song, "Finest Hour", has deep lyrics penned by Gutt that are a direct message about his friendship with Chester. "A darkness hid inside", "Behind your eyes there lied a war", "I won't forget that smile, it was contagious like no other", "I'll hold our precious time, up to the sky I'll miss you brother, I hope you know it's true" Since Gutt was only recently announced as the lead singer of Stone Temple Pilots, many fans don't know about his friendship with Chester. Jeff Gutt was a big fan of Chester's and their friendship extended back to at least 2001, when Dry Cell (Gutt's former band) and Linkin Park were both recording at NRG Studios. They would hang out with their good friend Rene Mata from Static Summer, Jacoby Shaddix from Papa Roach, and others at NRG. Gutt said on the Dry Cell MySpace page that Chester was in the studio when they recorded their song "Body Crumbles." The summer of 2002 must have been an exciting time at NRG with so many artists recording there. When Linkin Park was recording Hybrid Theory at NRG, this was also how Chester met his best friend and brother Ryan Shuck. Here is a photo of Chester and Rene at NRG Studios in 2002, around the time they were hanging out with Jeff Gutt and others. In a new interview with Yahoo, Gutt says, "I knew Chester. I’ve known Chester since 2001. Chester would come to some of our writing sessions and rehearsals; I’d see him in the studios that we were at. When we were recording, they’d be recording there. We just had a good friendship." On November 19, 2016, STP performed a private "Family & Friends" show in Los Angeles which was the debut of Jeff Gutt on lead vocals. Chester wanted to attend, so Gutt invited him as his special guest. Gutt says, "It was my first private audition with STP and he called and asked if he could come. He wanted to be there for that first show. So, I put him on my guest list. It was very cool that he could be there for that," Then, midway through the show, Gutt invited Chester up to sing with him on "Pruno"... something Gutt says was a true honor and was humbling. Here is a photo of Chester that night with he and Rene before the STP private show. Jay Baumgardner, their friend who also founded NRG Studios (where many of Linkin Park's songs/albums were recorded) went with them to the show. On July 29, 2017, Jeff Gutt visited the Warner Bros Records memorial for Chester. We wish Jeff Gutt the best of luck in Stone Temple Pilots and are excited to see them on tour.

Rising Tied shows started in August. Album in November. Could see it going like that again. Or the album drops in July. Those two months are my two predictions.
-
Couldn't agree more. The EP really surprised me. The music on it is A+. Looking forward to the album.

Not you personally and maybe not the past tense of "sold" but another LPC staff member is using private messages here to try to sell them for the highest price possible. That is 110% factual information.

The new song is described as being more positive, but emotional and catchy.

In a series of social media posts beginning on Twitter and ending on Instagram, Mike said he plans to meet up with fans very shortly in Hollywood tonight near the old Tower Records building to film part of a new music video. On Twitter, he began with, "I feel like meeting up with you guys later tonight" and added "literally in person." In his Instagram post, he said, "Who wants to meet up and be in a music video? Im shooting something for my solo album at 8:30 in Hollywood tonight. In 45 minutes. Roll thru." With Mike being spotted in a recording studio very recently, it was no surprise that new music was being recorded... but a solo album is big news. We wrote an article on March 1 about Mike being in the studio with Ethan Mates (long time LP recording engineer) and Brad Delson, with a possible Phoenix appearance being made as well. We will keep the thread updated with more information tonight as it becomes available! Updates: - Mike played the new song for everyone but requested that they turn their phones off. - "I love to make art and I love to make music, and one reason I get to do that is because of you guys. I am just really, really grateful for that." - "I have been writing songs in the moment. As I went on, not every song was a sad song. And they've been about a lot of things. I've started to put them together and it looks like it'll be an album. It isn't an album about grief, but it starts there." New song: - 3-3.5 mins long - Personal lyrics but optimistic - No rapping, kind of similar to One More Light sound - Song grows, think of how Shadow of the Day builds throughout the song - Cool drum beat - Song will not be heard for a while as Mike is still making music - Played song via Bluetooth speaker for fans - Mike played the song twice for everyone - Song was very catchy so fans were able to sing along with the chorus the second time he played it - The video shoot was impromptu and was done spur of the moment - Asked that fans not record it - Possible video shooting happened later in the night at The Roxy

Huge fan of that remix, wow. Great job.

Agreed. I'm getting alerts from this story on my Google Alerts email about LP news, so like AltPress, etc have picked this up and have given it an LP twist. Ugh, lol

A new interview on laut.de with Billy Howerdel, the guitarist and founding member of A Perfect Circle, mentions Linkin Park. He reveals that the title song of the new A Perfect Circle album, "Eat The Elephant", was actually intended for Linkin Park. The track was halfway completed when Chester called Billy to ask him to contribute a song to Linkin Park's One More Light album. This was around the time when Linkin Park was collaborating heavily with other artists while making the album. The track ended up not making the cut, so A Perfect Circle rewrote the chords, drums, and lyrics, but says to even finish the track at all is "a kind of therapy." He adds, "When this happens, we all tend to crawl and do nothing. I see it as a pointer to get my ass up and finish this thing that I started with Chester from Linkin Park acting as co-author." Chester was of course friends with Billy dating all the way back to at least 2008 on Projekt Revolution, where Ashes Divide was on the tour and Chester joined them several times to perform A Perfect Circle's "The Outsider." Last November, Billy opened up about Chester, saying, "The Chester thing hit me really hard. I haven’t talked about it publicly at all, but I liked that guy a lot. He was a friend, not a good friend but…he was the guy that would check in. He was that guy that would text once in a while and just say, ‘Hey! Checking to see how you and your family are doing.’ And with no benefit to himself. He was just that kind of person that was always reaching out." The new A Perfect Circle album, also titled "Eat The Elephant", will be released on April 20th. EDIT: Hear the song now, below.

It's a demo. When have they ever asked anyone to take a demo down?

Not from an LPU CD. Nothing coming on 3/20. People have sources in the label, stuff like that. People obtain and sell things sometimes.

UK musician James Lavelle posts mixes on MixCloud and Spotify entitled "Living In My Headphones", and on February 21st debuted an unreleased Linkin Park remix of the Massive Attack song entitled "Butterfly Caught." This song was released in 2003 on the album 100th Window. This is news to us, as we've never heard of Linkin Park (or most likely Mike) remixing this song. We have a detailed list of known collaborations on Linkinpedia. The song could have been remixed any time in the last 14~ years, so we are really clueless on a possible date. Here is the original version of the song: The remix can be heard around the 30-33 minute mark on MixCloud. James doesn't offer any more information besides that it is unreleased and he's finally playing the remix "after all these years" which means it was possibly done in the years following its release. For fun, we ripped the audio since MixCloud is not easy to scroll backwards and forwards on, and you can download it here: Download mp3 (.zip) Thanks to Dmitry from LP Community for sending this our way!

Best/Worst guests of Chester's tribute show.
hahninator replied to JZLP-Benningstrong's topic in Everything Linkin Park
The best guest of the night to me was undoubtedly Jon Green who held the entire show together with Mike. That guy was a true saint and added a LOT. Even if Chester was still around I'd be advocating for them to take Jon out not as a member of the band but a touring guest who can truly add to their live show and help them out (not saying LP needs help but you know what I mean). He just looked so natural like he fit right in and he was in so many different parts of the show. I really hope they utilize him in the future. He reminds me of a British form of Mike kinda because he plays so many instruments, and his voice is beautiful. How was he not in the touring lineup of LP years ago? Ilsey had me in tears on Sharp Edges. I haven't witnessed something that moving that was acoustic literally ever. Her voice is incredible. Watching her you could like feel Chester in her voice, it's hard to describe but that was so good. Jeremy killed it on APFMH, we all know that. Thought Deryck did an incredible job on Catalyst. And loved Steven McKellar. -
Over the past few days, fans may have noticed that Mike has posted images on social media indicating that he is in the studio. We won't publicize the name of the studio he is at for privacy reasons, but we'll update the (eventual) Linkinpedia page with that information at a later time down the road. This follows comments he has made recently on Phoenix's Member Guest podcast that he has "written a lot of new songs." That isn't necessarily news either as he has been vocal since the Post Traumatic release that he has recorded quite a bit of music. One of those songs is what we saw him working on in an Instagram Live video, "Looking For An Answer", that we all know from the Hollywood Bowl show. What he exactly up to, we have no idea, but we could easily speculate that it is material for a new EP or even an album. Long time studio engineer (and mixer) Ethan Mates was spotted in an Instagram video. Since the Summer Sonic shows are not until August and he has only released three songs, our (very logical) guess is that he will keep releasing new music up until the show so he can fill the setlist with solo songs... and of course some Fort Minor tracks and maybe even a Linkin Park snippet or two (Enth E Nd verses, anyone?). Speaking of guests, you may have seen fellow Linkin Park member Brad also in the studio, and an Instagram post from Phoenix of bass gear the same day that Mike posted about recording bass sounds indicates he could be there as well. As you may remember, Brad served as the A&R for Fort Minor's The Rising Tied and helped Mike (with Jay-Z) pick songs for the album. This doesn't necessarily mean there is a collaboration of music happening, but you never know. New Mike solo music appears to be on the horizon and behind the scenes, the tour plans are coming together piece by piece - be sure to keep demanding Mike on WeDemand!

Fans of Julien-K and Dead By Sunrise might be seeing the Julien-K "Time Capsule" release show up soon in their mailbox. A retrospective look back at the career of Julien-K from 2004 to now, the release covers five full discs and dives into the full history of their music. Chester is prominently featured inside the centerfold release in the middle of a collage of photos. The release features demos, extra songs, unreleased songs, remixes, rough mixes, live songs, acoustic songs, and more. It is put together in an impressive packaging that really shows how much work went into the final product. Chester is outright featured on two songs from Dead By Sunrise's Stars of the Season 2011 show in Arizona - 'I'll Try Not To Destroy You' and 'Palm Springs Reset'. In the description of disc three, Ryan Shuck says, "Stars of the Season is absolutely the most special live recording we have ever made" and says that it is he and Chester's best vocal performance together. We completely agree as the style of music of these two songs, from Julien-K's We're Here With You album, is completely different than the music Chester typically sang and he nails these versions. Both Ryan and Chester on this day deliver stellar performances, feeding off of one another as they trade lines at times and at other times as Chester hits the high notes behind Ryan. Ryan adds, "Chester was SO spot on; I remember clearly how connected I felt to him in this moment." Fans may not know that many of the Julien-K songs were written around the time that Chester began his solo project in 2005, so while he was living with Ryan, the two of them with Amir worked on quite a bit of musical material. Chester taught Ryan how to be a better singer and actually hit higher notes, so Chester originally sang a lot of the Death To Analog demos. He even said he wanted to join Julien-K. In the booklet, Ryan says about 'Shaking', "The high vocal part in the chorus was Chester teaching me how to hit these notes! At the time I marveled at Chester as he effortlessly belted that out in full voice." On Instagram, Julien-K shared their personal, heartfelt dedication of the Time Capsule to Chester via the Dead By Sunrise account. The Julien-K Time Capsule spans over 80 tracks on five discs and was a smash hit on their Indiegogo campaign, raising over $50,000 for the release. Future digital versions will be released by the band, so stay tuned if you missed out on the physical product.

Yeah. It's part of LPTV trailer with Joe with the fake teeth, Mike saying Cleveland State with the shirt, etc. A clip of the one also where they land in Portugal for the 20 hour travel day on the Meteora tour. It's all (30 seconds) released footage, nothing new.

Just got mine too. Saw your name in the Founders Geki, that's cool, noticed it ASAP and also saw Wesley Carlos from LP Brazil. Product packaging is REALLY good, they went above and beyond on making this an exclusive product that is just put together extremely well. They did the photo collage too on the inside, which has a great pic of Chester. It was like what LP did with OML Live packaging but the JK product was way into development by then lol. So much music that it will take me a while to go through it all. Love what I hear so far. Wastelander is a great one. Lots of 2004-2005 era stuff which also is an awesome era of JK. There is a ton of music so it will be weeks to dissect it all lol. LP needs to do something like this.
