  1. Soooooo here we go with our LPLive Summer Tour 2011 post! I know I haven't been as active lately (stupid life getting in the way) but I'm back just in time for Linkin Park's summer tour. Here we go.... Linkin Park picks back up on their A Thousand Suns touring cycle on Saturday, where they return to KROQ's Weenie Roast in Irvine, CA. After a show in Mountain View, CA the next day for Live 105's BFD (Big Fucking Day, anyone?), LP wraps up their two show US warmup and flies over to Europe to start a 14 show run for what seems to be shaping up to form a semi-annual European summer tour. There are only two non-festival shows in this tour that lasts for almost a month starting on June 6 in Austria. These two shows would be in Stockholm, Sweden (where the band has unfortunately had to cancel MANY shows before - let's hope this one goes off without a hitch!) and in Hamburg, Germany where the fourth Linkin Park Underground Summit (second in Europe, first in Germany) will take place on June 21! Previous LPU summits have been held in London (November), Sydney (December), and Chicago (January). As far as festivals go, LP will be starting with NovaRock in Austria, where they played in 2007 for the first time. Appearances again at the almighty Download Festival in England and at the Sonisphere Festival in Italy stand out strongly on the touring schedule, but fans will notice the band playing Rock Werchter in Belgium this year, making it the biggest annual rock festival the band has played in its existence! About time guys! LP takes their Projekt Revolution Tour over to Europe again for the second time ever after its very successful four show appearance in 2008. The lineup is noticeably weaker this year, but the Projekt Rev tour packs in THREE German dates like in 2008 and instead of a show in England, the guys will take the show to Finland for the first time! The noticeable change this year is that there will NOT be a Projekt Revolution in North America this year for the FIRST time on a touring cycle since it began in 2002. Hybrid Theory featured one in 2002, Meteora in 2003 and 2004, and Minutes To Midnight in 2007 and 2008, but it looks like A Thousand Suns won't have one in North America. Sad! This can likely be attributed to the lack of album sales in the US for the latest album as well as the lackluster attendance figures on the latest North American Tour. Anyway, scattered other festivals will feature Linkin Park, such as the OpenAir St. Gallen in Switzerland and the Main Square Festival in France (where LP has never played a mid-summer show - note, their 2003 one was canceled). The tour wraps up at the inaugural iTunes Festival in London on July 4th, but not before LP stops in Moscow at the Red Square to play a special show for the Transformers 3 Premiere on June 23. This will be the fourth "leg" of the touring cycle (South America/Europe/Middle East, Australia, US/Canada). Chester fell sick in February on the North American Tour, causing the band to cancel five shows and only make up two (Boo...my Cincinnati show wasn't rescheduled, lol). Maybe they'll make those three up later this year, but I'm not holding my breath. The last time the band played in Europe during the summer, Brad had an ear infection so shows in Sweden and Switzerland were canceled. Hopefully no one gets sick this time around. As far as DSP's go, I don't know if there actually will be any for sure since the DSP site hasn't posted any new shows for this tour yet. I heard rumors that some European shows will have them (the 2 non-festival shows and the 4 Projekt Revolution shows) but nothing has been confirmed unfortunately. As far as setlists, we can only speculate. We guess and pray all year long for what we want them to play and what we don't want them to play, but we can only hope the band will break out three new ones with some rarities. What do you guys want to see them play this summer? Who's going to some shows on this tour? Stay tuned on Saturday for our coverage of the first show in Irvine, CA! Everyone excited for another tour?
  2. EXACT same here
  3. It was confirmed just today. It hasn't even been half a day yet. Give Jonas a break. He'll get it up.
  4. Asia Tour is growing! Need a fall return to the USA....
  5. You have a link to a Prague rumor? I wanna see Received word that this is official and should be confirmed very soon with an LPU presale.
  6. I have never seen this or even heard of this. This is amazing. Thanks so much for the post!
  7. Last Friday, Chester was at Club Nokia in LA attending the MusiCares MAP Fund Benefit Concert honoring Dave Gahan (Depeche Mode singer) & Kevin Lyman (Warped Tour founder). Comedian Greg Behrendt introduced Chester, who sang "The Messenger"! Check out the videos for it below. What do you guys think?
  8. I've never seen those videos from 2001. Thanks!
  9. Wow this is cool. MC Rut is solid. I saw them open for Alice In Chains 3 times in 2010. It's a two person band but they bring it pretty well. Much better than Coheed & Cambria! Dredg is also really good...seeing them here in May and expecting them to bring it big on their new album. Sucks the USA got DIOYY, Pendulum and Prodigy while Europe gets Dredg and MC Rut...it's like backwards lol. The cool US bands are opening in Europe and the cool Euro bands are opening here. Odd! LP needs to bring a big legit band to Projekt Rev this year in Europe. MCR is ok but someone like Papa Roach would be epic.
  10. Waiting on Jay to give me the winner's info!
  11. Me let's do a giveaway! I don't have an LP setlist but I have just about everything else I guess lol
  12. He also did a part of the outro on When They Come For me, a sample Mike has to trigger live.
  13. Back in December, we did an interview with Jay OByrne about his role on the Linkin Park North American Tour. He did video and took pictures for both Does It Offend You, Yeah? and Pendulum for the first half of the tour...that lucky bastard. On January 28, 2011 in St. Paul, MN, the sixth show of the tour (show page here) Jay was able to snag an actual setlist off of the stage that the band used that day. He has graciously donated that to us at LPLive so that we can give it away to one of you guys! View a picture of the setlist HERE. This was the FIRST performance of Set C5, so this is a pretty cool item. You can also see where it was written in for Mike to talk about fans filming 'Waiting For The End' that night - one of the two nights they were getting fans to shoot the music video for the song at the show. The setlist is a little beaten up but it was used on stage, so what do you expect?! To win the setlist, simply retweet the latest LPLive tweet on Twitter and after one week, on April 27, we'll pick a winner. All you need to do is be following both the LPLive and Jay OByrne Twitter accounts. Simple as that! Thanks to Jay for doing this for us! Go!
  14. If LP was still playing old non-single stuff they could collab with Snoop again lol
  15. There needs to be a Projekt Revolution this year. One US festival is like WTF. They rarely ever play festivals here so I can't see them doing more than this one though. I'll really be shocked if they just give up a Proj Rev tour for the new album...those are many peoples' favorite tour that LP does (mine included).
  16. Linkin Park is set to headling Live 105's BFD 2011 at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA on Sunday, June 5, 2011. Snoop Dogg, The Strokes and Cage The Elephant will join them on the main stage. View the entire lineup here. This festival comes before the summer European Tour for Linkin Park and is the only US show to be announced for the remainder of the year. Tickets go on sale on April 23. Source here. EDIT: Linkin Park confirms here.
  17. Uhh it's still there lol. Not entirely but a solid portion of it. Cool remix but nothing epic...would have been badass if Mike dropped a verse on it or something or they changed the beat, etc. Adding a few things and swapping a few things around doesn't really do it for me. Better than the original I guess but it's about the same...
  18. It's Linkin Park LOL, who cares about the support acts? Volunteer for MFR or something to pass the time
  19. That's awesome. I'm sure a ton more German dates are coming Daniel wouldn't have it any other way lol LP should add them to their PR shows. Are there two legs or something? Early June and then late July-mid August...that's a long stay if it's just one leg lol
  20. This one! ATL PR07! Amazing show, hot as hell on earth out there but a really great show.
  21. I put a post down!
  22. for some reason I bet they do totally new setlists. LP doesn't give a shit who's heard what or who's been where or anything...this is almost the same thing as the Meteora World Tour in 04 and Europe 04....new setlist. Winter 08 US to summer Europe 08...new setlists. I say 3 rotating totally new ones will be used in Europe and will carry on into Asia.
  23. The next show for LP takes place at the TD Garden in Boston, MA. It's been quite a while since the band has actually played in the city of Boston...they usually play in Worcester (which has had quite a few shows), Mansfield (where Projekt Revolution 2008 kicked off at) or even Foxboro (Summer Sanitarium). I believe the last time the band actually performed in Boston was in 2000! Regardless, Massachusetts gets a few solid Linkin Park performances each touring cycle. This is their first time playing this venue in downtown Boston so they should bring a large crowd! So far we've continually seen sets B13, C5 and B11 at the past few shows. It has been confirmed that the band is rotating them randomly. However, we don't know if Set A1 is still being rotated. That's the only set with 'Wretches & Kings' and 'The Messenger' in it, by the way. Do you think we'll see an appearance of that setlist anytime soon? Mike recently confirmed at the M&Gs that the band voted on bringing fans up on guitar for 'Faint' on the North American Tour....and a majority of the band voted NO. Mike said he was for it but that he was outnumbered, so no fans on this tour will be brought up on stage to play guitar. After the Boston show, the band has a few days off before playing what is sure to be an exciting Madison Square Garden show followed by two songs on Saturday Night Live the next day! But we'll get to that later....for now we have the Boston show to look forward to! Does anyone have a M&G for the show? Who from LPLive will be attending? Preshow chat, go!
