31.08.2011 - Los Angeles, CA - Secret Show for Japan
hahninator replied to hahninator's topic in Previous Show Discussion
I guess they'll rotate from Vegas to rehearse another set here, maybe Robot Boy here, lol. I have no idea. Vegas set was really good. -
Yeah fuck those motherfuckers for fucking changing a song that's been played at every single ATS show except for like 3-4 with a song that hasn't been played for over 3 years! Ahhh fuck! Fuck 'em man, fuck 'em! Setlist pic from Pooch: http://ow.ly/i/gxAx Badass.

On the 31st Linkin Park plays their first show at the Mayan Theatre in Los Angeles, California. Although they've played many venues in the city before, this is the first time they've played at the Mayan, a small club that only holds 1,000 people. When originally announced, this was billed a "Secret Show" for Japan, benefiting Music For Relief and Save The Children. Linkin Park later went on to announce the venue of the show earlier this month when Chester made an appearance on KROQ's Kevin & Bean Show. Rumors were that LP was going to hold this at The Roxy (where Collision Course's live songs were filmed) but changed it to the Mayan Theatre before announcing it. Props right here to whoever can figure out how many documented times we have of Linkin Park playing in Los Angeles! To gain admission to this show, you had to donate $500 or more to Music For Relief to get two tickets. Any $250 raised after that got you an additional ticket. If you weren't going to the show, you could help the causes of others who were wanting to go by donating to them. LPLive also was able to auction off two tickets for the show and raised $852.50 for Japan by doing so! In terms of small shows, LP played the Best Buy Theatre in New York City, NY (show page here) in 2010 for the "A Thousand Suns" Release Show...a 2,100 capacity venue. Until now, that's the smallest show they've played for "A Thousand Suns" - show meaning a full-on, headlining gig....not a TV appearance, not a three song appearance, not a rehearsal, etc. The Joint in Las Vegas, the venue for the last show, holds about 4,000. This is therefore the smallest show Linkin Park has played since the "Minutes To Midnight" touring cycle. On that touring cycle, Berlin, Germany's Kesselhaus (show page here) held 1,000, London's Astoria (show page here) held 2,000 and New York City's Webster Hall (show page here), home of the album release show for MTM, held 1,400. Phew, that's a lot of numbers! So when was the last "small" show in Los Angeles? In October of 2007, LP played the Key Club in West Hollywood, CA (show page here) for the Sunset Strip Block Party. The venue holds about 550 people but only around 100 were in attendance. Why weren't WE invited?! In June of that year, they played the Ritual Restaurant and Night Club's opening (show page here) to a small crowd as well. Here's a very intimate performance of 'What I've Done' from that Key Club show - holder of the award for the "most recent *small* LA show LP has played" as well as the SMALLEST show Linkin Park has played in quite some time..... At the last show in Las Vegas on the 30th, the band played a slightly different version of their Set B16 from Europe earlier this summer by replacing 'The Requiem' with the first performance of 'Cure For The Itch' since the last show of Projekt Revolution 2008. Nice! Find that full setlist here. Who is going to the Secret Show? Do you think LP will do anything special for this show? Lots of people are guessing that since it cost $500 for two tickets to get in, the band surely will do a special set. Do you agree or disagree? What would you like to see them play? Pooch has confirmed on Facebook that the band has worked on some "new stuff" for the upcoming shows in Asia and that there will be "different setlists for some shows; definitely different from Europe." Any guesses on what these "new things" will be? Robot Boy, perhaps? Or will LP bring something old back? If this show will be "special", what actually will make it special? I guess time will only tell! Who is headed out to see the secret show at the Mayan Theatre? On the 6th of September, LP kicks off their Asian leg of their fall tour by playing the AsiaWorld-Arena in Hong Kong. A three day LPU Summit takes place in Japan on that leg as well as their first appearance in Indonesia in quite some time. Find all of the 2011 tour dates here. SETLIST: 01. Cure For The Itch 02. Solid setlist. Hope we get something cool in one of the others. CFTI is a nice surprise.
-
Thank god. So much hate on HT. I love HT. Need ITE APFMH OSC, encore w/ Blackout Papercut BIO, etc.
-
Hell yeah. Predicting Robot Boy coming in to play and LP bringing back 1 song like With You or APFMH. Let's see what happens. I know Pooch hates hearing the same songs every single night no matter what order they're in so when he said "YAY" to "new setlists" I believe he's happy with something...we'll see.
-
SDS vinyl sounds fucking awesome. Definitely gonna grab a copy.

Need some live setlist updates....

Pooch said on FB they worked on new stuff for Asia. I bet they'll do some different stuff.

To address these three points: 1. I know it's not a Fort Minor show but all they are missing here is Beatdown from their original live lineup...I count this as Fort Minor. 2. http://twitter.com/ribkat - "RIBKAT: @TherealRyu @m_shinoda YO...#11 was the funniest ish ever....had me in tears F'real 14 Aug" 3. http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermo...ewsitemID=47521 "LINKIN PARK's Mike Shinoda is about to hit the road with his rap side project, FORT MINOR, but his main band's next album won't suffer as a result. Shinoda told Launch that LINKIN PARK is in the thick of preparing its third studio album and plans to keep working on it during the FORT MINOR tour. 'We're kind of in the middle of writing it, and it's going really well," he said. "I would say that we're planning to get it out this year. So while I'm out with FORT MINOR I'll be recording, well I should say writing, new LINKIN PARK stuff and swapping it back and forth with the guys. I think the guys have some plans for some of them to fly out her or there, spend a couple of day with me out on the road and we'll write some new stuff.""

Nice job Astat!

NYC is way too far for a mediocre album lol. If it was Fort Minor, sure. This would give Mike a great excuse (not like he needs any though) to do a few FM shows but that'll never happen. Stoked for LP in October regardless. 99% sure DBS will be in Vegas. They *love* that city.
-
Maybe I'll luck out and it'll be in like Nashville, New Orleans or Miami. Somewhere cool semi-near here
-
Hopefully Blackout is in there!

On the 30th, LP plays their second show this year in the city of Las Vegas, Nevada by performing at The Joint @ Hard Rock Hotel. This past February as we all know, Chester's sickness caused the band to cancel three shows on the North American Tour (Washington DC, Uncasville, and Cincinnati) and reschedule two of them for later (Houston and Dallas). The first show after the tour disruption was in Las Vegas on February 19 at the MGM Grand Arena (show page here). Linkin Park has played in Las Vegas quite a bit over the years - the first recorded time was in October of 2000. In 2002, the last show of Projekt Revolution was held there (show page here). LP played a warmup show, their first at The Joint, in June 2003 a few days before Summer Sanitarium kicked off (show page here). That was likely the first time 'Figure.09' and 'Numb' were played live. In 2004, the Thomas & Mack Center (same venue as their 2002 show) hosted LP's Meteora World Tour, and as we all know in 2008, they played two back-to-back shows at The Joint in March with abbreviated setlists due to Chester recovering from being sick (show pages here and here). Later that year, Valerie Cossio won an LP remix contest and was going to have the band play a one-off show in October (coincidentally also before that year's Asian Tour) but it was canceled at the last minute (along with the Asian shows) because Chester was hurt. Valerie was flown to Greece in 2009 to see LP there and spend a few weeks in Europe instead. So as you can see, LP has some history in Vegas! In 2007, LP played three shows in Vegas back-to-back after Projekt Revolution. The first one was for Halo 3 and a VMA Party (show page here), the second was a full-on show outside the Hard Rock Hotel (show page here), and the third was their VMA performance (show page here) - check out the video below of the band collaborating with Timbaland for the intro of 'Bleed It Out': This show is a one-off event at The Joint before LP plays their "Secret Show for Japan" on the 31st in Los Angeles before heading to Asia for 11 shows in September. Rehearsals reportedly for these shows only lasted *one* day though, so we'll have to see what will happen. Is LP going to play their LA set in Vegas to rehearse it and fine tune it before the Secret Show? These are the smallest shows the band has played all year. One thing to think about for these shows is that we recently learned the band wants to debut 'Robot Boy' (the only song not played off of "A Thousand Suns") in a "unique way". Are these shows a good opportunity to do so? Would you like to see it performed? Will 'Wretches & Kings' and 'The Messenger' stay out of the set for the remainder of the year or will they be brought back for these shows? Or will LP surprise us and throw in a song like 'With You' that fans would love to see? What about 'Rolling In The Deep' being a setlist staple for 2011? Anything can happen as we know. They've been in the studio for a while - is a new song possible? What do you think they'll play or what would you like to see them play? Who is going to Vegas? Anyone going to both Las Vegas and LA? M&G for any members of LPLive? Anyone live-updating the setlist? EDIT 1: Pooch on Facebook: "Loading out after successful rehearsal. Worked on some new stuff for upcoming Asia shows. YAY." EDIT 2: Pooch again: "Different set lists at some shows. Can't tell you what they will be, but definitely different from Europe." SETLIST: 01. Cure For The Itch (First time since 24.08.2008) 02. Faint 03. Lying From You 04. Given Up 05. What I've Done 06. No More Sorrow 07. From The Inside 08. Jornada Del Muerto 09. Waiting For The End 10. Burning In The Skies 11. Numb 12. The Radiance (Live Version) 13. Iridescent 14. Fallout 15. The Catalyst 16. Shadow Of The Day 17. In The End 18. Bleed It Out ('A Place For My Head' bridge) -------------------------------------------- 19. Empty Spaces 20. When They Come For Me 21. Papercut 22. New Divide 23. Crawling 24. Xero on the tv show 'The Crow: Stairway to Heaven'
hahninator replied to deafandblind's topic in Everything Linkin Park
I totally agree. I made a thread and put it up so everyone can check this out. This is so awesome. NICE find and this is exactly why "bumping" old threads shouldn't matter if you have good/relevant information about the topic being discussed. Welcome to LPLive and damn, what a great first post. -
Last December, LPLive user "heartagram_616" posted a thread about a Xero song being featured on "The Crow". Most dismissed it as fake until user "J.Garcia" made his first post on LPLive (a legendary one at that) on the 25th of this month confirming it was real. After some research, staff member Dmitry (aka Sotrix) found it with this post, saying, "I can confirm that 16:15 - 17:18 in the episode "Brother's Keeper" there's a very old demo of Forgotten playing." Click here to listen to a clip of an old demo of "Rhinestone" (later turned into "Forgotten"). Two posts in the thread caught my attention, one by Astat: "This revelation brings up an oft-asked question, but it bears repeating: How much material did Xero actually record that hasn't seen the light of day? Coal came completely out of nowhere when it showed up on LPUX, Chester's confirmed that one of the first demos he sang on was an instrumental version of A Place for My Head that Xero had already recorded, now there's this alternate version of Rhinestone that didn't appear on the demo tape, and given that Pictureboard was registered on BMI's song catalog, it's pretty safe to assume that was recorded at some point as well. " And the other by SergSlim: "Interesting how many of the stuff that people say is fake, is really true? Like first it was Plaster, that everyone said - does not exist anywhere, now it's this... etc, etc..." Click here to comment, as I've disabled comments in this exact thread so you'll have to go to that thread to view them. I couldn't put that thread on the Newswire since it's from December and it wouldn't appear on the homepage, so go here. Discuss! What do you all think? I guess this will make the community analyze things a bit more before calling them fake, haha.
