  1. They definitely scheduled new shows over old ones. Perhaps that's why they even returned to Jakarta, for example. Look at the Istanbul 2008 show that was "confirmed" but not announced and then Mannheim was scheduled over it. Stuff like this happens quite a bit I am sure.
  2. I don't want to FORCE people to register. Of course making comments only visible to members will do it but if that's the only way I don't think that's a good idea. I'm not about "member counts". If people want to participate, they can feel free to do so at any time. LPLive is just a database of information for fans and when people feel like contributing to the community, the website or the discussions on the forums that's even better It doesn't bother me really but it does strike me as odd when we'll have 100+ guests viewing a thread and like 3 members. I personally like the one on the album much better than this one. Irene, send me the original file and I will see what we can do.
  3. Chester page for sure.
  4. "115 User(s) are reading this topic (98 Guests and 0 Anonymous Users)" Wish I knew how to get more people to register lol
  5. On June 5th, Chester and Phoenix stopped by the studios of X103.9 to talk about Stone Temple Pilots, music and more. Chester also took the opportunity to perform 'The Messenger' for the station. 6/8 EDIT: Sorry for the delay, but the interview is now available in full to download. It includes an additional (partial) take of 'The Messenger' where Chester messed up the words. Thanks to Irene for recording this on her iPhone and for Skipees for successfully converting it for us. Enjoy! DOWNLOAD
  6. In April, Linkin Park held a contest for 'CASTLE OF GLASS', saying, "We're looking for artists, illustrators, painters, and designers. Send us your artwork inspired by the music and/or lyrics from our song "CASTLE OF GLASS." The winner will get a cash prize of $500, and we'll also print our favorite design on a t-shirt and sell it on tour and in our official merchandise store, plus send you a signed copy of the t-shirt you designed." The winners were just announced.... Dika Tookit's submission won first place! Dika goes by the name Toolkit04 here on LPLive. linkinpark.com says: "Congratulations to Dika Toolkit whose design "Lost" was selected as the overall winner chosen by us. In addition to a $1000 cash prize and a signed and framed copy of her winning T-shirt design, we will produce and sell a t-shirt with her design on tour and in our merchandise store." Additionally, the band adds, "We would also like to congratulate Marcos Vinicius Feijo. His design "Silver Wing" received the most number of votes from fans. He will receive $500 and a special 1-Off print of his design signed by the band." Dika is an exceptional graphic designer - his Deviantart account is very evident of that. He had the opportunity to meet the band in 2011 in Jakarta as well. Here's a picture of him with Mike. Dika's friend vyonizr states, "His artwork has surprised Mike since Gelora Bung Karno M&G (September 21st 2011). Mike even slammed the table when this happened." If you remember our 2010 European Tour poster for our website, Dika designed that with Thomas (Overkill)! Very cool! Congratulations!
  7. http://lplive.net/shows/20071118.php Opening band: Thin Man http://lplive.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=4653 Haha yeah I remember we posted a Newswire thread about that Bleed It Out.
  8. Shanghai Sonic is happening, a spinoff of Summer Sonic in Japan, in Shanghai, China on August 17th and 18th. If China allows LP back in, they could possibly play that. Metallica just announced a Shanghai headlining show on August 13 as well.
  9. A few years ago I heard a rumor about the band not performing in China on their ATS Asia Tour. Apparently some shows were booked and then the deal "fell through". At the time I thought it was possibly the same thing that happened with the Auckland, New Zealand shows (two nights) that were "rumored" for December 2010 - something must have fallen apart with the promoter or something. Finally I've run across a source that confirms what the real deal was with the shows. Three shows were booked for China - Beijing, Shanghai and Wuhan in September 2011 (all three had canceled shows in 2008, but Wuhan was the one that wasn't made up). Basically, China told the band they were no longer welcome after they participated in the PTTOW! conference with the Dalai Lama. http://www.goodhappens.org/livingpeaceseri...th-media-summit From a website about the Chinese music scene from July 2011: "This is a band that has been promoted extensively in China for over 10 years, has done 2 tours of the mainland, and were slated to return to China this September for a run of three stadium shows (Shanghai, Beijing, Wuhan) that Livenation were putting together. Contracts were signed, licenses applied for, things were looking good. A rock stadium show in Wuhan – we’re not the biggest LP fans in the world, but we would have gone to that show…. Until a couple of weeks ago that is. It seems that the band were attending a conference for youth in LA – PTTOW, a summit for Youth Media and Innovation. There were lots of other celebrities in attendance, including a recently abdicated leader of a country that isn’t a country in this country (a bit obscure, but you should understand what we mean). In any case, the two groups overlapped and there are photos all over the web with members of the band on a stage with the “High Llama”. Hugs and handshakes were exchanged and it is pretty clear for those caring to notice that they were pretty chummy. Another star of another equally famous band in China was also on that stage. Unfortunately, someone inside the local hierarchy here in the Middle Kingdom have decided that Linkin Park are no longer welcome in China, certainly for this tour, and perhaps for the longer term too. We can understand the desire of artists to support causes, and certainly PTTOW! seems like a very worthwhile event. On the other hand, it seems like commercial suicide for a band that are so invested in the region to appear on the bill of something like this, especially at a time that their permits were being processed. The ministers of culture have certainly learned how to use search engines over here, and that is one of the first things that is searched for, an association past or present with the TB cause. It also seems a shame to deprive Chinese fans of a band that is really very popular and influential here. It also seems more than coincidence that Linkin Park recently split with their long term manager Rob McDermott, who was very invested and knowledgeable in China and the rest of the region. We hope that this can be resolved somehow, but similar to the Beastie Boys, we imagine it will be a long time before China sees Linkin Park in a stadium near you…" Read more here: http://www.chinamusicradar.com/live-music/...th-linkin-park/ Here's also another read about how LP came to play in China in 2007 in the first place: http://www.chinamusicradar.com/western-ban...-park-in-china/ A cool note about the Seoul 2003 M&G is included, "The whole campaign connected “Bring Linkin Park to China” with record sales directly. We sold 100,000 copies of the Meteora album during that period. This was unprecedented for an international album in China. The fans who went to meet the band in Korea brought them a gift: a huge banner (4×6 meters) filled with signatures from fans in China. The band was shocked and this left a lasting impression with them. Linkin Park signed their own names on the banner and then took a photo of it. The photo is included in the album artwork for worldwide release of the Live in Texas CD/DVD." Pretty interesting that we finally run across some confirmation about why LP hasn't been back to China. A few of us have suspected it was because of the LP meeting the Dalai Lama but at least we now have something concrete from a Chinese music source. http://lplive.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=7367 This is probably a ticket/promoter/event/whatever source from China that added a show that LP was coming to Shanghai in 2011 as well. http://www.timeoutshanghai.com/features/Bl...o-Shanghai.html http://www.chinamusicradar.com/government/...ont-they-again/ That's a government source website but it's interesting rumors flew around for both December and September for the band touring there. The December stuff is probably bullshit (interesting it's from a gov't website though) but the September shows were definitely legit. We don't have dates for the September 2011 canceled shows but I have inquired to this website to see what they might know about the dates and permits (since they have insider information).
  10. Well surely I don't think they'd just play Set A again lol. It will be over a year since they debuted that set. They haven't done something like that ever on a touring cycle since they started rotating setlists. I think we'll see some sort of change. It's definitely a warmup show for Asia.
  11. I will add: http://lplive.net/shows/20070611.php Bleed It Out "Ext. Bridge w/ "Fuck that side" & chorus sing-a-long" and add a note about it.
  12. LP isn't the type of band to really surprise us randomly. It's happened a few times but we will see.
  13. Sunset Strip show is probably the most unique time they've ever had in their career to do something creative, off the charts and just badass for their hometown. Seriously, that's the time to make it happen. As far as I'm concerned, be lazy and do whatever you want for Asia - even the same thing that Las Vegas/New Zealand/Australia got. Sunset though, make something happen. Here's what I would love to see. Warm the crowd up with a solid little run of songs, but heavy. If you want to play fucking Numb, put it in the top 7 and drop something I guess but this looks really good to me. 01. TINFOIL 02. Faint (Ext. Outro) 03. Given Up (Ext. Outro w/ Extra Note) 04. Somewhere I Belong 05. LOST IN THE ECHO (2012 Intro) 06. Lying From You 07. No More Sorrow (Long Intro) ----Break to talk about how they started playing shows right there on the Sunset Strip, etc, all that stuff. Mike says "Alright, so we thought we'd do something we've never done before and make it special for you guys tonight. Roll that shit." 08. Papercut 09. One Step Closer (Ext. Outro. We can hope for a Reanimated bridge but they won't do it lol) 10. With You (2012 Ext. Intro; Ext. Scratch Outro) 11. Points Of Authority 12. Crawling (KRWLNG Intro) 13. Runaway 14. By Myself 15. In The End (Crowd sings bridge) 16. A Place For My Head (Ext. Bridge; Ext. Outro) 17. Forgotten 18. Cure For The Itch 19. Pushing Me Away (Before the song - this is our last song, goodnight) ---------------------------------------------------- 20. What I've Done (AMBO Intro) 21. Reading My Eyes (First time performed in the USA under the name Linkin Park. About. fucking. time! Epic.) 22. anything here, maybe Waiting For The End, BURN IT DOWN, Breaking The Habit, or even Numb 34 times, I don't care as long as they play RME, APFMH and Papercut lol 23. Bleed It Out (Extend it like crazy and have a great jam ending, like the amazing slow -> fast outro in 2007) And everyone that goes shits bricks at what they just witnessed, the Internet shits bricks, the LP fansites shit bricks, and anyone not there shits bricks because of how jealous they are of what just happened.
  14. I can probably complete the notes next to the songs based on the PR08 setlists. I can do that later, but this is my take on what this says: What I've Done Faint No More Sorrow Wake 2.0 Given Up Lying From You Don't Stay In Pieces Somewhere I Belong (there's 4 lines in this block but the 3rd line looks like a SIB note) Points Leave Out All The Rest Numb Shadow Of The Day Valentine's Day Crawling In The End Bleed It Out --------------------------- NO ROADS LEFT (all caps it looks like) Breaking The Habit (the last letter on this line looks like a ")" but there's also a line below it, so it must be a really big note for BTH. there's no other song that could go below BTH in the encore. Not PMA and not CFTI. that last line looks like two words.) --------------------------- A Place For My Head One Step Closer Surely there's a higher quality version of this. But it's pretty unmistakable that it's NRL as the first song in the first encore. It's three words and the first word has two letters. Pretty much seals the deal on NRL, regardless of whatever that last line in encore 1 is. BTH's PR08 note was (no intro; a capella outro) and that's too long to go on two lines. So it might be another song. But it doesn't look like We Made It. Thoughts?
  15. That's the picture. Is there any way to enhance it? I will compare the number of lines to what we have from the setlist pics from the summer 2008 tours.
  16. Yeah that was fake. There were 3 fake ones people made. Not that one. This one was from the actual show.
  17. For the Sweden 2008 show cancellation, a note from Mike: "to all the swedish fans: we are extremely sorry about the cancellation of the show tonight. we all sincerely wanted to come and play for you, but our boy brad is sick. this afternoon, the doctor ordered that brad not travel, so the show became an impossibility. we were obviously very disappointed and frustrated. we rarely cancel, and i know this is the second time we’ve had to cancel playing there. the band feels very bad about this uncontrollable situation, and hope to make it up to you as soon as we can…"
  18. I actually had no idea about the BTH claim. Thanks for the info. Wow. I have that picture and a few others. Hell I think they're still in the LPU gallery. I can see if the LPU has high res copies of them that we can have. I cannot believe out out of everyone there, NO ONE except the one girl posted on the LPU forums and she didn't end up with one of those full setlists. However, that was from this: http://lplive.net/shows/20080529.php Not PR07. It was right before Europe 2008. And yeah I think NRL was on one of those setlists too. What is good is that Sean is scanning all of his setlists he has for us before Asia so if he has one with NRL on it, we will get it. I will find the pic and get it uploaded here. Maybe someone can figure some stuff out on it. I remember we analyzed the hell out of it when those pics were posted lol. We also are missing on the show page the other version of that setlist that was played. In the pics of people holding up setlists you can see a version without Fell On Black Days on there. EDIT: can't find the fucking picture right now but here's the LPA thread from that time period: http://www.lpassociation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27912 The pic can be found somewhere online I'm sure lol. Who still has an LPU membership? Mine expired. Check the gallery of pics and get the ones from the May 2008 rehearsal.
  19. Yeah it exists. Good luck getting it, I've tried since 2008 with no luck.
  20. "Rob Bourdon called me, we talked a bit, then he sent me a CD of some songs for me to learn. "
  21. Adding to this: http://lplive.net/shows/20090617.php The guy that said they rehearsed By Myself was at this rehearsal before fans arrived, doing something with Pooch. He said Mike also played part of Hot N Cold by Katy Perry on his little synth thing lol. I mean I can't verify it myself but he said it happened. Maybe he's full of shit, who knows. He was at the Transformers 2 show watching with Pooch too. He's the same guy that has the No Roads Left w/ Chester version and has visited LP in the studio quite a few times, according to him. I can't 100% verify this myself of his legitimacy but he's offered me comp tickets + side stage, etc at some LA shows so I would ASSUME he's legit but I don't know. Bristow doesn't count lol, LP did a 30 minute touch up of Set A and then did Set C. The show where the fans said they heard QWERTY, I bet Pez or Mikey could elaborate on that one. That was apparently when BITS and Blackout were both soundchecked in full so it's possible Phoenix was just fucking around in between songs or something, so I don't think we should count it unless one of them says the full song was played. SIB and POA appearing on the London n2 2010 setlists: Neither were rehearsed before the tour started. They would have been totally improv performances like LFY/LOATR were mid-tour. So those don't count either since none of those 4 were rehearsed, and APFMH wasn't rehearsed either, so that's a 5th one just from that tour. Pretty cool. Add a note about it I guess. And yes No Roads Left was rehearsed before Europe's summer tour in 2008. I don't think they rehearsed again in the two weeks between Europe/PR08. Mansfield probably got a great rehearsal the day before the tour started.....
  22. I actually don't think I have that performance of Where'd You Go. We will have to search the web for it.
  23. On the setlists from that time that's just how they referred to that version of Bleed It Out that they were playing at the time. I can change that on the 2008 pages if I need to. I wonder if Scott has that CD LP sent him ages ago. He's the one in the "Jammin with Hybrid Theory" video where they play Esaul and Slip right?
  24. I think Crawling was dropped because it was played so much, not because Chester had such a hard time with it. He's had trouble with it since at LEAST 2009 (I'd say 2008 for my personal opinion) but they played it in 2010, 2011 and part of 2012. Remember they dropped OSC for a few shows in 2011 (a few in Europe and then one in Asia I think, or at least moved it in an Asia set to the top). LP is not going to get a shit storm for dropping one song. Drop Numb. They'll still play WID, BIO, OSC, ITE, etc, all the other huge hits. BTH. Numb is one that can take a break at least for a year or so. People are still going to say it was a great show with or without Numb. I unfortunately think WTCFM will be dropped by the time August arrives. It wasn't in any sets in Australia/New Zealand and it was removed from Set B last year. There are certain songs we all know the band gets into live and that they enjoy playing. APFMH of course is the one people are most familiar with. POA and WTCFM are a few others. Papercut is also one MOST of the time as well.
  25. The last song is fantastic. Really impressed. I hope STP/Chester have a lot of success and do really well. So much hate everywhere, lol. STP was headlining just clubs and only a few international arenas on their last few tours, so this new lineup w/ Chester doesn't have a lot they have to prove here. Just sell a successful album and play amphitheatres/arenas and it's definitely considered a success, especially with how many people think Chester sounds great on this material.
