Synth went out on LOST IN THE ECHO beginning again. Added a keyboard intro to WID on the show page. Any other notes we need to add that people have recognized so far? Any memorable talking or anything you see? The band is really into it on With You. Might be the best video I have seen of it since they brought it back. On HCT they almost looked a little bored with the song. Now it looks like they enjoy it quite a bit. Look at fucking Shinoda at the end when he's next to Chester. Loving every second of it. -
Funniest post I have seen in a while LOL

So BURN IT DOWN was the regular version? What was up with Sean's comment about it being a reggae version at the KROQ Rehearsal then? -
Unfortunately with the nature of things, I can't always reveal the exact source for info I get, or I can compromise sources for future info. I can promise you that it is 100% accurate information though and comes from someone that helped with the LPU 9 album coming together. As much as I want to reveal the source for everything I/we do, sometimes I can't, like with the information I got about the DSPs today or where some of our exclusives come from. I can tell you though that the DSP program was stopped earlier this year. I'm not going to waste my time making up bullshit for the fanbase to believe, haha, I'm only interested in getting information out there, making the community better, and building our archive of information for Linkin Park and their live shows If the band's management team wasn't registered on this site and this was completely private, I miiiiiight do it but the person it came from is a member here, the band's management team logs in and reads these forums and I am about 95% certain Mike is a member both on LPL and LPA under a false name that not even either staff team knows. We don't even know the usernames of the management people that read the forums and we honestly very likely couldn't ever figure it out even if we tried.

There are lots of genius ideas in this thread. It's the stubbornness of LP's label WBR and the LP mgmt if they refuse to take advantage of the DSPs and earn money on them. The band obviously has no idea this has even happened (the DSPs being stopped) because Mike likely figures the ones we are missing are just the festivals and whatnot. Let's see what Lorenzo says. I have almost no contacts with the band's management because they pretty much refuse to communicate with the fanbase.

Include an option on Ticketmaster like all bands do for merch. When I buy Dave Matthews Band tickets for example, on the checkout page it says: "Would you like to add any of the following? - $35 summer tour t-shirt - $15 tour water bottle - $25 TWO tour water bottles (a savings of FIVE WHOLE DOLLARS!!!!11one" etc" With LP, they can say "Would you like to add a DSP (Digital Souvenir Package) of this show with your ticket purchase? The DSP comes with the full audio recording of the show (professionally mixed and mastered) as well as pictures from the performance, available within a week after the performance online. An email will alert you when your download is ready." BANG THERE'S THE CASH MONEY. And no I don't think we can successfully get audience recordings going again. Those died out so much when DSPs came along, especially in the USA. Europe could probably be alright with them but the USA and a lot of other places would be completely fucked.

The answer I just got is that they were not selling well and the program has been stopped as of very early this year. I apologize for not realizing this sooner and checking it out months ago. Doesn't look good.....

Here's what it is NOT: - The Linkin Park setlists. The average concert fan honestly doesn't give a fuck what Linkin Park plays. 90-95% of the concert crowd at the show is made up of casual fans. LPLive and LP fansite people are a small small SMALL portion, maybe like 100-200 max. That's even being generous. Sure there are LPU people, but the LPU has lots of people who know nothing about the band and only join for a M&G opportunity. For example, tons of LPU'ers know nothing about MFR. They wouldn't know a damn thing about DSPs. Back to the setlists - the band had 3 setlists in 2012. That's the same amount they had in 2007, when this whole thing began. It's not the setlists. - Piracy. Yes the "usual place" probably hurts I don't know, maybe 5-10 sales of each DSP max. And THAT is being really generous with the numbers. It might not even affect it at all. The hardcore fans that collect every single show (maybe 100~ in the LP world collect every DSP and 200-350~ collect quite a few like more than 5-10) don't really change the sales of the DSPs. There is no way for someone like myself or Jonas to purchase every single DSP they do. What we do though, is purchase every show we are at, and for me that's about 20 shows. If it came to me HAVING to buy the DSPs of every show I do NOT go to or do NOT *want* to purchase, I simply couldn't do it and wouldn't do it. I just wouldn't have them. I'd have my 20 shows I have seen and I'd have 5 more I could afford over the years. That would be it. The only reason I even collect them all is for the website. There are so many shows I don't even care about that I have listened to just once ever. - The fucked up Basecamp website. I know we all hate Basecamp, their website for the DSPs, and their non existent customer service. Regardless of that, they will still sell. The website doesn't affect how many DSPs are being purchased. They NEED a new website for sure though. Here's what it is: - The advertising. LP's management team frankly is failing to do their part with the DSP project. I could write a novel on this. Let's start with the other bands that do live recordings. Metallica, RHCP, etc all advertise the hell out of their recordings on their social media pages. It just so turns out that Linkin Park has more likes on Facebook than any other band out there. They have a HUGE social media presence. When was the last time the DSPs have been posted about on the LP social media? Or even in the News section on linkinpark.com? Exactly. Nothing is being advertised. If there are 10,000 people at the Linkin Park concert, there are maybe 9,500 people or MORE who have NO idea the DSPs exist in the first place. Why is this? This is because they are no longer at the merch booth and they are not being advertised. There are no screens at the show which talk about it anymore like they had even in 2011. However, tons of people don't even go to the merch booth anyway. Our society is so plugged in to Facebook, to Twitter, to Instagram, etc....just look at all the cameras and phones at every single show, even SSMF. People are obsessed with social media and LP has such an advantage in that category compared to most bands. But not a single fucking post on any of those accounts goes to PROMOTING THE DSPs. NONE. This has nothing to do with the setlists because only a fraction of the people at the show care what the band plays, since they have so many singles and people love the singles. This has nothing to do with Basecamp. This has nothing to do with 100 people downloading a torrent of a new LP show in East Troy, Wisconsin since less than 5 of them guaranteed wouldn't buy the show anyway. This has all to do with Linkin Park management's failure to LET THE FANBASE KNOW about the DSPs and to ADVERTISE them. There is NO reason why these things can't be sold by the many hundreds at the shows. At a 10,000 person show, it is solely management's fault if they can't get almost 1,000 people to buy the recording. And now it looks like we have almost a 0% chance of them releasing older shows. I think it will be almost impossible to convince management to even restart the DSPs. Obviously this decision was made quite a while ago.

There was some sort of keyboard piece in between Numb and WID. Need to find a video. -
This is easily the most accurate post in the entire thread. I asked some people for some numbers on the DSP sales so I will get back with you if I get them.

That happens all the time. It's just how the sets are written lol. Look at the 2008 ones. Some songs are written normally and some are in all caps. I know for the notes if they want the band to notice the notes or for the notes to stick out they put them in all caps, like [FULL SONG] or [MS INTRO] or something. -
Yeah I also think, like you guys have been doing already, we should use this thread to discuss the problems with the current DSP system and changes that can be done. If they just promoted them a bit more like RHCP or Metallica does I bet they'd get more sales. They post on their FB I think each time a recording goes up. Also both of those bands sell them in lossless too. If the LP DSPs aren't selling very well it's honestly the fault of the management because they are not promoting them well enough. Pooch gave a very specific number in an interview in 2011 and I wish I could get it, but I will ask him about it, about how many people were downloading on the ATS North American Tour when they gave the codes out for free. 10,000~ or more people at each show, all you have to do is advertise it well enough. Surely it doesn't even take one fifth of that to make a profit on one show.

I don't understand why Mike told us to talk to Lorenzo, but I will definitely email him right now.

Back in March of this year, we started a campaign with as many Linkin Park fansites as we could to get older DSPs (Digital Souvenir Packages) released. It is a known fact that the band has recorded some pre-2007 shows (2007 was the year they started selling them online) and we made it known that the fans want them made available in some format. If you missed the "open letter" for some reason, click here to read it. In 2013, the band has not sold any DSPs of their shows. In fact, the last DSP sold on the downloads.linkinpark.com DSP website was Johannesburg, South Africa on November 10, 2012, almost nine months ago. So far in 2013, there are now ten shows that would normally quality for DSPs. These would be the Las Vegas show in February, the eight shows in Australia & New Zealand, and the SSMF show. Since DSPs are usually listed on the website around the time of when LP starts touring again, we became curious about the SSMF show and the upcoming Asia show. We took to Twitter to see if we could get some answers. Pooch and Dylan, who mix, splice and tag the mp3s before sending them off to be uploaded, chimed in and Mike even noticed and replied. Here's what went down: LPL: "Does anyone in LP world know anything about 2013 DSPs? Are we getting one for #SSMF? Or the Asia Tour? @TourPooch @dylan_ely @ryandemarti" Pooch: "@lplive @dylan_ely keep asking for them and maybe they will happen. We still record every show." This comment of course implies that is is very likely the SSMF show and upcoming shows in Asia will not be sold in the near future. Continuing.... LPL: "After our DSP campaign earlier this year to get older DSPs released, it looks like the band gave up selling new DSPs. #onestepfurther" Dylan: "@TourPooch @lplive we need all you fans to let the band know you want them." Dylan: "@lplive keep asking it may help" LP Fan "Jenny": "@TheLoopStudios pretty sure we all want them. especially me. i live for the live shows :'] i kind of collect them.. haha. pleeeaaseee? Dylan: "@_lostintheecho2 not up to me or @TourPooch the band has not had us mix them." Mike: "@lplive: I/we didn't decide anything. Not sure who to ask tho. It's usually a function of legality or cost. I'd follow up w/ @lorenzoerr" We will obviously follow up with Lorenzo about the DSPs, but this brings up the question of why the band (or band's management, in this case, since Mike says the band didn't decide anything themselves regarding DSPs) stopped selling the shows either temporarily or permanently. Did they not sell well enough in 2012? The top 5 most sold shows on the DSP website still list NYC 2008 and a few 2009 and 2010 shows, meaning nothing from 2011 or 2012 has cracked the top 5. Are the numbers down? Could piracy be to blame? What do you think? Or did they just stop selling them for no reason? Whatever the reason is, we need to make it known that we still want them. The SSMF show turned out to be one of the band's most energetic and lively shows in quite a while. We'll get some polls going, get some Twitter activity and see what can be done, or if we can get some answers about these shows.

Totally forgot about no VICTIMIZED last night. I bet it's on the Asia setlists. However I bet WTCFM and IMR are gone.... -
Updated the main post with all of the videos so far. We'll keep this updated as they keep posting more stuff. There are also two new threads for the two new live songs they are playing.
-
Thanks for the setlist. The new songs are sounding great. They changed sounds slightly again, and I like it a lot. This might be their best album yet.
-
Another new song from them. Seems a new album is coming out before too long!
-
This turned out to be a great song. Wow. Impressed!

Some comments based on the videos I am watching: Shinoda comes out like a fucking gangster boss and rolls all over the stage damn. Really cool. I have NEVER seen the band take such a big break from shows and come out rocking like this, and we've covered shows for a very long time haha. APFMH starting the shit is just epic, right into Papercut. Wow. The energy by the band during this show is GREAT. The overall sound sounds a little rawer than usual and I like it, meaning you can hear the guitar better, etc. Even Rob is fucking slamming the drumsticks everywhere at the end of APFMH. Interesting the entire band is out there, people yelling, then Mike shows up on the scene and the place fucking explodes, lmao. Talk about badass. Crowd is surprisingly weak! I see people bouncing on Bleed It Out on the right but wow that was one of the worst APFMH bridges in terms of the crowd! And a hometown show too - they should have like 10k people screaming that shit. So many cameras out too. I guess it's just our society though because APFMH from Mexico City is just insane, APFMH Brazil, APFMH I guess anywhere outside of the USA starts a riot in the crowd LOL The opening to the show though - wow. Very impressed. Interesting Mike gives a talk before RME. I guess they think that's mega special these days whereas 4-5 years ago they'd just do it anywhere anytime if someone requested it it seems. Sucks they couldn't incorporate a full RME in there. -

I can agree it would have been nice to have seen Reading My Eyes in full, but I mean the song hasn't been played in over 5 years now and it has never been played in the US in full under the name Linkin Park. Slim chances of them breaking that out. They go outside of their box SOMETIMES like with Runaway, etc last year but I guess they didn't feel comfortable doing it this time. Or they were lazy. APFMH/Papercut opening and then BIO w/ RME/Faint/OSC is really a great ending though. No fucking ballad medley. I approve.
