  1. Great review Astat. Regardless of their overall outlook/view of the album, comparing your review to the tripe posted on AntiQuiet - makes me wonder how that reviewer even got work as one in the first place. The degree of detail you go into in yours is fantastic. The AntiQuiet review instead relies on what is essentially something not far removed from schoolyard bullying.
  2. No-one should view this as a huge shock - I certainly don't. I completely and utterly agree with you. I've been a fan since the Hybrid Theory days, but the first album was upstaged by Meteora IMO. The same thing has happened yet again with A Thousand Suns. Absolutely love it.
  3. the only thing i can add to my previous proclaim of love for this album is that i don't see the issue many of the early reviewers took with the end of black out? sure the vocal melody changes drastically, but the foundation of the song remains mostly the same and is far less a drastic departure than that within the catalyst. iridescent and waiting for the end are my two favourite tracks. the only one i'm not totally enjoying at the moment is robot boy... but that may change.
  4. just put this into the shout box but wanted to add here: fkng ACE. LOVE LOVE LOVED it. sounds awesome with a bit of volume, bass and in correct order. the 30 second samples DID have me worried but boy was i glad to be proved wrong!
  5. just posted in the shout box that i'm enjoying this the most out of the 3 (full) tracks we've heard so far. i'm predicting big things for this as a single. PS: feelthless - LOVE your sig. i got to go on-stage with those guys when they came to my city. one of the best nights of my life!
  6. ARGH! I missed this!!! http://www.novafm.com.au/song_waiting-for-the-end_107069 The title says 'Waiting For The End', but if you listen to the new, extended snippet (features parts not heard in the other snippet) - you'll know it's actually 'Burning In The Skies'! I am completely devastated that I missed this... and it was only played roughly 15 minutes ago!
  7. my god... the broken-english-hate-rants are getting irritating VERY quickly. i'll be honest... the clips are totally not what i was expecting. does that mean i have to come on here and whinge: "omgz, stupid LPs, hope theyre nue albumz flops so theyz cna go back to makingz the better musiks!" lame. wait and hear the whole album. then if you don't like it - voice your opinion and don't disparage anyone elses. but for god's sake - don't come on here and suggest that they need to experience a flop so they can go back to making the 'nu-metal' they supposedly once played. you are the same people who constantly claim the band have 'sold-out'... but going back to their more 'socially and commercially acceptable sound' just for the sake of selling a few more albums isn't selling-out?! geeeeeeZUS! i would much prefer they be honest and make the music they choose to - even if it means 5 people are buying their albums... no one is forcing you to continue listening...
  8. i'm in australia and not only received the first email, but the second with the corrected mp3 track (mine was fine in the first email anyway?). sucks to hear some of my fellow aussies haven't got theirs
  9. i absolutely can not stop playing this clip... it's awesome. got me even more hyped up for the album!
  10. your logic would then dictate that we will never see a 'true' 1080p rip of this video. the aspect ratio of video using a resolution of 1920x1080 is 1.85:1 (or 16x9) (with no black bars). the catalyst video however, was filmed in the wider aspect ratio of 2.35:1 (or potentially even wider than that) - therefore, will never fill the entire 1080p vertical resolution with picture because the remainder of that space is occupied by black bars. if we were to apply your logic to half of the theatrical films released on blu-ray - then a vast majority of them are not in what you consider 1080p. however, i think given that the black bars are intended as part of the picture (and therefore, the overall framing of the video)... you can still consider it 1080p. if the video was in 720p then the resolution would be 1280x545 (black bars removed).
  11. really enjoyed it. up there as one of my fave LP music videos ever produced. need to see it in HD though - some of the wide shots are lost in low res.
  12. just one step closer (pardon the pun) to an official announcement. a few mates and i are considering going to each of the australian shows
  13. at the end of the day, it's not like those of us who have joined have ponied up the $60 USD just for one song - that was simply an incentive to do it now instead of later. we don't get LP in australia very often, and that is the case even more so where i'm based... so the opportunity for a meet and greet is worth the $60 alone imo. i've been getting a HUGE number of PMs regarding the mp3. guys i have to say, i'm not very comfortable with sending it out (as per hahninator's exact same reasoning) and the fact that i don't want to be banned or be the one responsible for it leaking having said that, even if i could do it or was going to... the mp3 is on my work computer which is extremely limited in what i can and can't do... making it nearly impossible for me to send it out from that machine patience... i'm sure you'll all get to hear it one way or the other
  14. sorry about that... was a bit absorbed in the music its not a heavy song but has a pretty killer guitar riff. chester's vocals are quite straight forward (ie, neither delicate, nor aggressive). no vocals from mike (unless he is doing any harmonies, but quite hard to hear on sh*tty work computer speakers). pretty clear-cut verse/chorus structure. very catchy chorus. lots of oh ohhhhs throughout. vocals cease at 3:09 (song length is 3:54). outro starts with cutting back to just drums, then towards the end, the guitar riff makes a final comeback.
  15. pretend to be is sweet for those wanting to know - yes, as soon as you confirm your pre-order - a decade underground is instantly accessible (and therefore, pretend to be). however, as adam has already said - this is not the LPUX cd that is yet to come.
  16. my question is - are there other packages to come? what sort of pricing would we be looking at for those. would love to pre-order now, but not if i know there are going to be further packages added later.
  17. kotaku? ugh. those guys hate LP and bag them in every single update that mentions them
  18. i think i read on here somewhere (or LPA) that it was the entire album as one track?
  19. probably in a minority here, but i never considered QWERTY to be a 'traditional' sounding LP song anyways. definitely excited to hear the entire album - though the one thing that i am concerned about after reading the review was the whole chester moving into the background thing - his vocals are excellent and the more presence he has on the disc, the better IMO.
  20. did new divide and what i've done even debut that high or was that their peak after the entire chart run? if the latter, then the catalyst has plenty of time to catch up... but as others have already said, who cares? it's an achievement alone that they manage to remain relevant and continue to chart at all after being in the business for this long.
  21. you are correct in saying that some things are determined very early on (pre-production) - but as far as i am aware... the announcement re: new divide didn't come until after production had wrapped (unless i am mistaken). not to mention the movie isn't due out until half-way through next year and scoring the film usually doesn't take place until towards the end (probably post-production?).
  22. catalyst up to #68 on aussie itunes. how's it faring in the US? not bad for not even a full day!
  23. not on the transformers 3 soundtrack? before i comment on how disappointing that is (hey, they did the first two, why not complete the trilogy)... im betting it's a touch too early to be calling that final. the movie isn't even half-way into production, let alone being nearly completed... things may (and hopefully will) change
  24. catalyst has now moved up to #90 on the aussie itunes.
