did i just read someone complaining that they 'only' played 19 songs? geez... which concerts do you go to? clearly i'm going to all the wrong ones because 19 is a pretty decent number these days. saw 30 seconds to mars recently, and although they absolutely killed it live - they played 15 songs if memory serves me correct - plus at least 3 of those were acoustic/half-versions of the songs... so maybe 12-13 complete songs? -

EDIT: removed setlist - awesome timing spin!!! lol people clearly need to be taking their medication and calming the F down... this was just posted over at LPA. Setlist: (see spin's post) -
nice work good to hear i'm not the only one who went a little overboard on buying copies i bought 2 of the deluxe fan editions (one for me, one for the bro) 2 of the special editions (one to play, the other to keep sealed) one of the regular editions (to give to my aunty) and one of the itunes special editions (to check out the 'unique visualisations' - which ended up being the album booklet with small amounts of animation ) not to mention a couple of orders from the states

so i'm happy to announce i was wrong... A Thousand Suns remained at #1 in Australia for its third week in the charts and has now been certified GOLD! http://www.ariacharts.com.au/pages/charts_....asp?chart=1G50

Mike: "Haters And The Converted: ATS Release"
mikeatron85 replied to SpikeMinoda's topic in Newswire
arguing with someone like you (let alone anyone on the internet) is a complete waste of time... but hey, feel free to waste more of YOUR time by doing that (i LOL'd at the above quoted post btw ) -
ATS remained at #1 in Australia in its second week. Still no gold/platinum accreditation, but it can't be far off I'm predicting a bit of a decline in the next chart update though ): (due on Sunday)

that might just be the single most ironically hilarious post i've read on this forum. you clearly did not read what mike said at all - just jumped on here to post that crap and in the process, make a complete fool of yourself. excellent blog from mike. -
ATS debuts at #1 on Australian charts
mikeatron85 replied to mikeatron85's topic in Everything Linkin Park
sounds like a fairly logical estimation to make - based on the US prediction, im guessing the album sold approximately 25,000 in australia (so just shy of a gold accreditation for one week). the album hasn't moved from the no.1 spot on itunes and is in the no.1 spot on most store shelves i've seen, so it should hold onto that position next week and maybe even crack gold sales. -
ATS debuts at #1 on Australian charts
mikeatron85 replied to mikeatron85's topic in Everything Linkin Park
i'm a little worried about waiting for the end - i feel as though it's going to blow up pretty big before it's even officially released as a single! not necessarily a bad thing - but if the band can't promote it the way they intended on promoting it... might not have as big an impact as it would if it was released and took people by surprise. that probably doesn't even make sense - im so very sleepy lol -
http://www.ariacharts.com.au/pages/charts_....asp?chart=1G50 Despite failing to nab either Gold or Platinum accreditation in it's first week, 'A Thousand Suns' has debuted at number 1 in Australia! The above link is for the Australian Recording Industry Association Album Chart - Australia's equivalent of Billboard. There's a fair chance it might hit one of those sales milestones next week as the album and tour are currently being promoted on free-to-air television in Australia with a pretty nifty 30-second spot.
-
i certainly hope so! will make my trip around the country far more worthwhile. fair chance a lot of these will sell out as they are starting to promote it on TV with a pretty impressive 30-second spot.

ATS First Week Sales Projection
mikeatron85 replied to thesungoesdown's topic in Everything Linkin Park
seems like a fairly low-ball projection for first week... will know in the next 50 or so hours for sure - but i'm guessing ATS is going to open with either gold or platinum sales in australia for its first week (35,000 is gold - 70,000 is platinum). i don't know how it works with the music industry - but with film, australia's figures are always roughly 10% of those reached in the states... if the album does indeed debut here with a minimum of gold sales - then surely that figure of 250-260k is a little bit underestimated? of course... i could be way off the mark too -
they are apparently being posted beginning 24th of november. the only thing that was of concern was the fact that several of the shows didn't allow for registered post - so if you wanted them sent to you, you had to select regular mail (stuff goes missing quite often in regular mail) - got my fingers crossed i don't have any problems... especially after spending $2510AUD on all of the tickets!!! i'm also hoping to record decent 720p videos from most of the shows (tho i'll leave the camera at the hotel for a few of them as i do want to enjoy the shows as much as possible). thats awesome christos (re: it being your first LP concert) - they were brilliant last time they toured australia.
-
on average - $130-134 before you add in postage and stuff. all up, each of my tickets averaged $140 with postage and yep, LPU pre-sale was same as the pre-order pre-sale... just different codes
-
same! all 5 of mine and quite a few others... the bill totaled over $2500!!! was an absolute nightmare to organise... had to book everything via my iphone because the ticketek site isn't accessible from my work PC :S
-
thought it was a pretty outstanding performance personally
-
i could be mistaken, but wasn't the minutes to midnight launch night a similar length? it's been a while since i've looked at it. don't know why so many people are getting their knickers in a knot!
-
dude... weak
-
HT HT HT HT HT! ... seriously guys :S enjoying the set list so far - can't wait to see them in december!
-
so very excited a mate and i will be going to all of them except brisbane - i'll be going to that one alone at this stage going to be a nightmare buying tickets - some components of the ticketing site are blocked on my work computer and i have no way around it
-
i'll be there! hopefully at all 5! the only one we're iffy about is the brisbane one as it'll mean flying over there, only to fly back home, then back over east again... but i'm pretty confident it'll be happening - about 4 of us doing the trip!
-
i might have missed some info. that would prove otherwise, but perhaps LP are the final performers for the evening? with the way MTV has been hyping up the performance, i honestly wouldn't be surprised!

i was majorly disappointed with the DVD. when you pop the disc in - it brings you to a 'menu' which is actually just a video of the same distortion (that is severely overused throughout the doco) - no 'play' 'chapters' or any other buttons... so you need to at least be able to work out to press 'ok' on your remote to get it going. i was disappointed with the content. didn't give a very clear idea of how the album and songs were progressing - it almost seemed as though the entire foundation of the album was locked down very early on in the piece, but gradually got torn to shit by the end of it - leaving us on 1 month from deadline and the band looking like they had nothing left to work with, missed the deadline for MoH (obviously may not have been the case but it is portrayed that way) and that's it! sure it was hopeful, but we got zero insight as to how they pulled through it all and the end result. another thing that bugged me was a lot of the important names/info was "censored" out using that god awful distortion sound that happened about 100 times throughout its short running time. as others have said - i honestly believe the content we're getting in the LPTV episodes are far superior. the latest one with mike and chester working on waiting for the end is absolutely brilliant. that's the kinda stuff i was hoping to see not disappointed with the overall album package though - the cd/dvd version is fantastic. foil cover so it gives a rainbow effect in light, tri-fold, cd and dvd share a theme on the artwork, booklet is pretty thorough and has lots of cool artwork (only gripe is that the lyrics play as part of the content and are at times impossible to read). i should also add that it was correct what we have heard - the cd only and cd/dvd versions have significantly different artwork in them! edit: just thought i should add that my overall opinion of the dvd is mainly influenced by the fact that i felt it left us with no idea of how they got from the stress/hardship to having a completed album.
