I find it a bit odd though that NOTHING has been said since that email on December 13th. It’s been extremely dry and silent. The suspense has never been realer with an LP thing. I really hope they can start teasing stuff in the coming days. It’s about time we saw something for their second biggest anniversary.

Ok this is really exaggerating lol. It isn't odd at all. It's been less than 2 weeks, less than 12 days even, from the start of the year. They said January. We have over half the month to go LOL

I absolutely love A Thousand Suns (it's my second favorite album of all time behind The Fragile by Nine Inch Nails) but I don't think it's going to get the same love as Hybrid Theory, Meteora and Minutes to Midnight are likely to get.

Mike already said on Twitch he doesn't really care about doing box sets for Meteora and MTM, but is the absolutely most very excited for ATS lol

  3. What we don't know is if they filmed something on the Meteora arena tour (or even in the UK in November 03, it's the same setlist just a little different order pretty much) or Projekt Revolution 2004. Those would be easy tours for them to film a show on. We didn't know what exact PR02 shows they filmed, so it isn't wild to think that they may have filmed PR04 or the arena tour and we just never knew it.

  4. You can make the argument either way. Metallica did tours called "Escape From The Studio" when they were writing new albums. Those are certainly not a part of any touring cycle, they are just shows between albums.

For LP's sake, they never really ever did that outside of 2005-2006. The band themselves identify the end of the Meteora tour being in Brazil 2004. But, Summer Sonic obviously isn't MTM and you can't release that on an MTM DVD because it has zero MTM songs on it. It was also an "escape from the studio" style run. MFR 2005 was a benefit for the tsunami, and they had no plans to play Live 8 until Bono called Mike at his house. Those are one-offs for sure, in the Fort Minor era.

If push came to shove, looking at it 17 years later, the 05-06 shows most definitely fit with the Meteora album and not the MTM album. They weren't really on the touring cycle for the Meteora album per say, but they were before the band finished their third album MTM and would fit for a Meteora release. For example, if you put a 2003 show, a 2004 show, a 2005 show and a 2006 show (just examples) on the box set, that would actually fit quite nicely. Summer Sonic is all Hybrid Theory and Meteora songs with the exception of Reading My Eyes (Xero) and QWERTY (written a few days before Japan and on the way to Japan).

When else could you release a 2006 show? That Tokyo 2006 show is one of the best shows the band ever played that we have footage of. You know like how everyone says "Rock am Ring 2004 is the best LP show ever", well they definitely played better shows at times but that's one of the very best that was recorded. So - from what we know exists and what we have heard and seen... Tokyo 2006 is truly an iconic, GREAT show and it would be nice to see it on Meteora's box set. If you pass it up, don't put it on Meteora 20, and it comes time for MTM, it's not going to make the MTM box set and it may never be released. Right now is the time to do it. At least stream it online if it is not on the box set. Chester was in godly form that night and the setlist is really unique.

Am I the only one who finds, and more knowing that we'll have news about MT20 in January, this a big coincidence and I think that it's that week that we will have news? Considering the second verse is literally what he did for HT20 and knowing this demo was made 2 years ago, I see a lot of coincidence about the dates

Wasn't HT20 announced about 8 weeks prior to its release? Wouldn't that put M20 for a late January info drop?

  6. Working on Ziggurats on Linkinpedia.

Has anyone gone through it to see what samples you can identify from other Mike songs? We don't really have much info on the tracks but it'd be nice to add some cool facts to the song pages. https://linkinpedia.com/index.php?title=Genius_Bar Like, Ctrl C Ctrl V samples One Hundredth Stream.

We were going to do info on Alternate Versions of them, some highlights of those, but there are just too many versions to do that so we'll probably remove that section lol

Comments like this always make me wonder if Mike ever reads LPL threads lol

He did during the ATS era because he mentioned at the London M&G that the fans on LPLive were pretty harsh at times about the setlists. lol

In fairness to the fans, looking back now 12 years later, that was the first time they didn't rotate setlists on a world tour in a long time - the MTM tour had different sets all over. They pretty quickly threw in LFY and LOATR in that set and then started rotating sets again after Europe.

Silly question, which is the most modern show with unknown set?

That Kimmel 2007 set for sure that LP played. Before that, it's the 2004 tour but once they started a tour, those setlists were 99% going to be the same all tour unless Chester got sick or something. We are missing some Fort Minor 2006 setlists but those few sets you could probably guess with 99.9% accuracy.

Chester guested with Royal Machines (and others) in 2016 - those acts sent us some setlists. This one was one they said they'd send, then stopped replying and wouldn't follow up. It happens. https://lplive.net/shows/chesterbennington/20160928c/ At least we know what Chester sang on.

Dead By Sunrise members would send us setlists of their private shows if we needed them. Mike actually sent us a setlist of a performance he did too one time years ago. LP HQ sent us a setlist one time of a private performance. So - all around, all of the bands/band members are very kind to us and are extremely helpful. We can't thank them enough for their help over the years. :)

I'm confused here. I remember that I provided the setlist for the page but not in 2001 rather much much later. Could you elaborate on what was wrong previously, really curios. That was my very first concert ever btw :).

Eit: My dumb ass clicked the show page and could see for himself. Still moderately confused as to why this was. Thanks for fixing that!

It is entirely possible you provided the correct setlist recently (meaning 2010-now, or something) and either it just slipped by us or we saw it and forgot to update it. Ha. That is VERY possible. We have Google Docs upon Google Docs upon lists upon other lists of information to add to LPLive and Linkinpedia - it may take us 5+ years to add everything, provided literally nothing else ever happens lol. It's a never ending cycle. So we may have messed that up ourselves. The setlist on the show page that WAS there for ages came from either PushMeAway.com's archives from 2001 or a similar source.

For once I'm on team "Strangelove about Mike Shinoda": I just don't care. Having remixes of 20+ years old songs feels out of place and unnecessary to me. It's a shame that we didn't get any leftover Reanimation stuff, though.

What if the unreleased Meteora remixes surfaced one day?

  10. It's been a very long time, but we actually have done some work to find some setlists to add to the site. These have come from old show review archives, fan reviews, and more. It's no secret much of our attention has focused on Linkinpedia and working on that since 2015, but there is still work to be done with Linkin Park and previous show setlists. In terms of the website, we have a significant amount of setlists for shows and everything from the last part of Projekt Revolution 2004 to modern day has a setlist for it except for one show we are looking for.

Perhaps the biggest missing set is still the Jimmy Kimmel 2007 / Hollywood House of Blues set, which we have never been able to track down after the first two songs that were aired. The unconfirmed setlist comes from an fan on the LPU forums in 2007 that typed up songs they remember being played.

Anyway, here are some updates of what we've tracked down in the past year or so. We will work on getting these added to the site's show pages shortly. A big thank you to Alan and lpliveusername for their hard work!

    SETLISTS:

Columbus, Ohio 2001: With You, Runaway, Papercut, By Myself, Points of Authority, High Voltage, Crawling, Pushing Me Away, And One, In the End, A Place for My Head, Forgotten, One Step Closer
*Joe Hahn at the Meet & Greet, about why the band doesn’t perform My December live: “We tried to keep it upbeat. If we played that live, everyone would fall asleep.”

Barcelona, Spain 2001: With You, Runaway, Papercut, By Myself, Points of Authority, Crawling, In the End, A Place for My Head, Forgotten, One Step Closer
*We now know ‘Pushing Me Away’, which was swapped for ‘Crawling’ early on this tour, was not played before Montpellier, France. Due to the Montpellier recording being incomplete, we’ve narrowed it down to just that one show for the switch between the two songs in the setlist as it is confirmed that ‘Pushing Me Away’ was played at the next show in Italy.

*Setlist on the show page has been wrong since 2001 and has now been fixed to the proper setlist!

We actually found a setlist photo from Nottingham 2003. The show recording is out there, of course, but this is exactly what the setlist photo shows.

  11. If you were wanting to hear more Linkin Park instrumentals (or close to them) easily, check out the new Apple Music karaoke mode which was recently released.

As CNet writes, "Apple Music Sing is a new karaoke mode that lets subscribers sing along to their favorite music with real-time lyrics and adjustable vocals. Sing is a part of the Apple Music streaming service, and it has debuted alongside 50 dedicated playlists. Here's what you need to know.

Firstly, the feature is only available to users who are running iOS 16.2 on iPad or iPhone, and who also have the latest version of the Apple Music app.

To access the karaoke feature, you first need to open a song you want to hear, whether it's from the dedicated Sing playlists or any song in your catalog. For the record, every song we've tried so far is compatible, as long as it has real-time lyrics -- even the ones in Dolby Atmos.

Once your song is loaded, click on the speech bubble in the bottom-right corner of the play screen to bring up the real-time lyrics. At the top of the screen you'll see a volume slider with a microphone on it -- sliding this up and down allows you to adjust the level of the vocals. And that's it."

It's worth us taking a look at this to see if any Linkin Park songs have instrumentals that previously were unavailable in any form.

  12. World of Warcraft has released a new remix done by Mike, of the song "Arthas, My Son" from the World of Warcraft Wrath of the Lich King -Classic- soundtrack.

Mike commented on Twitter, "Delighted to have put my take on "Arthas My Son" for the Wrath of the Lich King soundtrack."

Recently on his Discord, Mike mentioned that he's always continuously writing new music but it's just a matter of some of it not being released for various reasons (rejected songs for TV/film, etc). But we're glad this one made it out!

  13. He says he got it signed backstage at Prague 2017 but is showing a Hunting Party Tour 2014 pass. Then says Krakow for another one. And what are the chances you are getting Chester to sign a ton of items at once like that? Slim to none. Almost zero percent. Sure, Chester would sign 1-2 things, maybe even 3, but an entire stack of a ton of things? No way. And sign 2017 photos of him on tour?

Odds are strong that this is all a scam/fake.

  14. In October 2020, we reported on issues about the misprints and errors on the Hybrid Theory 20 box set.

Linkin Park said, "We’ve heard from some European fans who have unfortunately received HT:20 Super Deluxe Box Sets that included mislabeled DVDs & had issues with the laminate & MS lithograph. Please email ht20@wmgcustomerservice.com for further updates on providing replacements for these elements.

Your code for the digital download link that is included in the Super Deluxe Box Set has now also been updated with corrected versions of “Hurry” and “Chair” from the LPU Rarities disc."

    From Discogs:

"There are several pressing errors on this box set:
    - The "Frat Party At The Pankake Festival" and "Fillmore 2001 / Rock Am Ring 2001" DVDs have the actual content of the DVDs swapped around.
    - Mike's lithograph is pixelated and the Projekt Revolution 2002 backstage pass wasn't laminated. These problems aren't present in the US version.
    - There is an error in the credits of every pressing of the Hybrid Theory EP vinyl: Mike Shinoda isn't credited for producing and mixing "Technique (Short)", instead, he is credited for "And One" twice.
    - "Hurry" and "Chair" are incomplete on every CD of "LPU Rarities"."

In late 2020/early 2020, fixed elements of the box set were sent to fans (two DVDs, Mike's lithograph and the backstage pass). However, Mike's lithograph was still blurry/pixelated.  Unfortunately, the LPU Rarities disc was not replaced with the "Hurry" and "Chair" incomplete versions.

And then sometime after this, the "LPU Rarities" CD WAS replaced for only some fans, with the two songs being fixed with their full versions. It is unclear to us exactly how many fans received the fixed "LPU Rarities" CD and how the process went for getting that exact CD replaced, because the original 2020 replacement fix did not even include the CD. The fixed "LPU Rarities" CD is somewhat of a rarity itself. Where did it even come from at that time?

To add a brand new twist to the story...

In November 2022, fans received emails that said, "We're getting in touch with you, following your contact with us previously, regarding some issues you'd experienced with your original purchase of the Linkin Park Hybrid Theory boxset. We want to apologise for the length of time it has taken to get this resolved for you. So that we can process your complimentary replacement just for you, please provide your details on the Linkin Park Replacement sign up page." We have received confirmation from a few fans today that these replacement items have now been shipped out this week.

So, more items are being replaced for fans - maybe for those who weren't included in the first batch in 2020? Or the fixed "LPU Rarities" CD is going out to a larger batch of fans this time?

As of this posting, it appears Europe is now getting two sets of replacement items overall. However, the fix does appear to be for fans across the entire globe as we are now getting updates that fans in locations like Mexico, Peru, etc are getting their items replaced as well.

All of this is on the heels of a potential Meteora 2023 celebration, as teased by the band the other day. Are you one of the ones receiving a fix for the issues in the box set? What has your experience been in this?

  15. Honestly one of the best parts of the LP community is when the band teases something legit (this isn't just a merch release, judging by their history of how they tease things... they never tease ONLY merch) and seeing all of the guessing going on for what it could be.

There are a lot of opportunities for great shows. 2003-2004 had some of the band's best shows in their career. You could argue 2005-2006 were still in the Meteora era, since the 2006 shows didn't have any MTM songs in them.

And of course - demos and unreleased songs. It's been obvious for 20 years at least one or two more songs had vocals on them that were cut from Meteora. Not to mention, what about all of the potential demos LP edited vocals off of for LPU releases? Cumulus, Homecoming (MTM), and others are just a few examples. We have a LOT of great Meteora instrumentals from the LPU, but even if they re-release a few of those with vocals like A-Six or something, that could be cool. We'll probably get the "Thoughts That Take Away My Pride" song since that's the biggest "holy grail" item in the community left for the band, with Friendly Fire (OML) probably falling right after that.

There are probably a lot of tracks/titles we just don't even know about from Meteora as opposed to Hybrid Theory since the HT demos existed online for ages but just weren't officially released. There's really not too much from Meteora like that online as no demos ever leaked. Demos of most of the album with vocals could be pretty cool.
