  2. Literally don't care about the NFTs, have not followed it at all. Thought it was so weird Mike sold a 37 second clip of One Hundredth Stream for $36,000 and all of us thought he was selling the actual song in full lol

There isn't any real downside to him doing NFTs for the LP community. He's releasing music and has made everything available musically to everyone that he's sold as NFTs. So why does it matter that much to us? He pissed off the gamer community but that's their problem they have with him about coming up with hypothetical futuristic situations. He preaches all the time about like, "don't get into NFTs if you don't know what you are doing" to the LP fans. In that regard, he isn't being careless about being a "leader" for some folks in that area.

Just don't see it as such a huge deal when he's always been interested in new technology for pretty much the entire history of the band. We don't pay it any attention since we aren't interested. Some people may like it, so that's fine.

  3. Did anyone else catch the quoted replies to Mike on Twitter about NFTs?

Mike recently struck a nerve with the gamer community over his seemingly innocent speculation about NFTs for gamers, bringing in an oddly significant amount of backlash.

Anyone have any thoughts about this?

  4. Hey everyone,

To help out a friend, we are trying to find a specific video that was posted on Instagram and other social media sites in recent years. We are having trouble finding it again.

The video is from the 2007-2011 era, when 'Shadow of the Day' was in the setlist. It features Chester, Sean Paden (Brad's guitar tech), and Kurt Schneck (Mike and Chester's guitar tech) side stage, and Chester is very excited, jumping around talking about how much he loves a specific black guitar that he was playing.

If you have any leads on the video, please let us know! Thank you!

  5. While working on Linkinpedia's Fort Minor song pages, we came across a news article from 2005 that said Mike gave a shout out on a mixtape song by an artist named Trek Life.

After tracking down the song, we have uploaded it to our YouTube page.

The song is called "Freestyle Audio-Live & Amad Jamal" by Trek Life, from the 2005 mixtape "Keep the Receipt." It features a shout out by Mike Shinoda at the beginning of the track: "What up ladies and gentlemen. You are tuned into the sounds of Trek Life, working hard over here in the city of angels. My name is Mike Shinoda, I'm coming at you straight out of Fort Minor. Big shoutout to my man Kevin Sakoda. Kev, keep the receipt big boy, peace!"

The mixtape was released on September 18, 2005, during the Fort Minor era.

You can download it for free on his Bandcamp page:

  6. Linkin Park has announced that they have moved to the 21st year of the Linkin Park Underground fan club.

"21 years of Linkin Park Underground. Whether this is your 1st or your 21st year in the LPU, thank you for choosing to participate in our Linkin Park family… we love you all, stay strong and we hope you enjoy LPU 21. -Phoenix"

The LPU said, "The new LPU 21 bundle and merchandise are now in the LP Underground store. This year, we drew inspiration from the LPU 2.0 collection by bringing back the bold colors of the bundle. We also created exclusive vintage items including an LPU 2.0 vintage tee AND exclusive LPU 2.0 music in cassette form."

The LPU 2 album is available on cassette for the first time ever, previously only being released in physical CD and digital formats. Other items for LPU 21 include a notebook, an olive beanie, a vintage LPU 2 shirt, and a bundle with a different Underground shirt, sticker, guitar pick, and keychain.

There is still no update on a future LPU CD release. The band released 16 CDs to the LPU from 2001 to 2016, with the Hybrid Theory EP reissue kicking off the series. The last CD, LP Underground Sixteen, was released in November 2016.

  7. You're right.

    From Mike:

    Yeah
    Lift off like Virgin Galactic
My Richard's too Branson to fuck with you bastards
Very legendary that’s some matter-of-fact shit
You're the opposite of stars like "rats" spelled backwards
I float poems out to Saturn and past it
Easy as a standard anti-gravity backflip
Satellite tracking can't map out my tactics
I spit the same shit they split an atom in half with
No, it's not what I want but it had to be
And lames heads hang like I'm drainin' their battery
I put you in retirement, imagine you're mad at me
The space shuttle Challengers get turned into tragedies
    Rocketdyne rhyming yeah heavily tested
Mess with M.S., yes I hope you invested
I don't drop mics, only let it smoke where I set it
And I don't play, even when they press, get it?

  8. Yeah the comments about it not being a demo are correct. Sean did this in 2002 for a 2003 release and the LP label blocked it. https://www.lpassociation.com/forum/threads/coming-soon-exclusive-remastered-audio-of-grey-dazes-no-sun-today.25382/ Info is there. It's a remaster.

All for accuracy but it seems like that comes last these days - GD B12, LP Shadow of the Day, Mike mislabeling LPU demo years, etc. We'll at least note it correctly on the wiki and that's all we can do.

If all of those are released then that's a good project, IMO.

  9. Been a while. Saw this video on Twitter and gave it another stab. Will ask Mike about these after the ZIGGURATS drop and get them officially.

  10. This is a really interesting situation here. It's possible the 24 bit masters are completely lost and they had to re-record the guitar part? Maybe that's why it took them so long to replace this on SOTD.

How does Mike's hard drives/computer not have the original ProTools session files and all of the song files still there? Then you just mix down a "new" (same as 2007) version of the song. Why the need to re-record?

  11. On Twitch today, Mike said that he is doing a writing session over Zoom with Eg White. Eg, who we all know from Linkin Park's last album, co-wrote the title track 'One More Light' with Mike. Mike originally performed lead vocals on the track until the band decided to switch the vocals out for Chester's version just before the album was completed.

To read more about the background behind 'One More Light' (song), visit the song's Linkinpedia page.

In March 2019, Eg joined Mike on stage in London to perform 'One More Light' for just the second time since Chester's passing, the first being the Hollywood Bowl Celebration of Life performance. The fan-filmed video from London has over 1.7 million views on YouTube and the performance that day received considerable attention on social media.

  12. The three Minutes to Midnight songs released in 2012-2013+ with the wrong versions are apparently the versions that are still streaming on Apple Music, as confirmed by a few Twitter users this past week. These were originally released on HDTracks, then the "Mastered for iTunes" version of Minutes To Midnight in 2013, and in 2017 on the picture vinyl release of the album. The three songs affected are 'Shadow of the Day' (different strings and bass), 'No Roads Left' (added drum track and louder strings), and 'Across the Line' (no bass on the first verse).

We have the three Alternate Versions on our LPLive Archive YouTube channel to listen to.
