2017.10.27 - Los Angeles, CA (Chester Bennington Celebration)
Geki replied to RogueSoul's topic in Previous Show Discussion
I know that very few people going to the tour would have wanted to see all 12 songs from THP in full, but I would have loved it. Haha. I don't think many bands do that because most people are coming to hear all the singles from all albums. 95% of the crowd at a Linkin Park show would rather see all the singles from HT and Meteora over hearing THP in full, where as it would be the opposite for me. But that's just how it is, I guess, it makes sense, I would want to play stuff the fans wanted as well. But just imagine seeing THP in full on Carnivores, how epic it would have been. Haha. -

Watching them play Rebellion just makes me wish the band played THP in full in 2014 and 2015. I wish LT, THP and OML all got to be played in full. I would have enjoyed Carnivores having all 12 songs from THP plus 12 of the big hits or something, same goes for Honda Civic Tour having all 12 LT songs and 12 hits or whatever. Damn man. THP was actually pretty epic. -

I actually agree with you JZE about the show needing some hip-hop. I said all of those you mentioned would have been epic in my original guesses for the show. Cypress Hill would also have been cool, because Chester liked them and they toured with them on PR02, plus they all wrote something sweet about Chester when he passed. -

Lol I said I loved the entire show except for literally 2 guests. And 1 of the guests wasn't bad, I just didn't enjoy her performance. The only one out of everybody that I thought sucked was Deryck. So if you can say I didn't enjoy the show because there was literally one person out of everyone I didn't enjoy, you are special my friend. -

Something epic I forgot about - when Mr. Hahn messed up the intro to Battle Symphony and Mike was like nah, fuck that shit, Chester wouldn't have this shit, we are restarting it until we get it right. Haha. I don't know how you consider him one of the best of the night, he was worse than literally every other person, IMO. His voice did not sound good on the song to me. It's just my opinion. I like Sum 41, I even thought the band should have toured with them in the U.S., you can read that in my reply to the potential touring bands for OML cycle. However, The Catalyst is a huge song and maybe I was clouded by the fact that no one will ever sound as good as Chester did on that song, but I just felt like it was unnecessary for him to sing it. I mean maybe that's the wrong word, because obviously he wanted to sing it, and it's a tribute to Chaz, but idk. It just sounded sub par to me. The Catalyst isn't a punk rock song. It is a huge, epic sounding song and I think his voice suits the kind of music his band makes more than something like The Catalyst. -
I would have been sobbing in front of everyone if I was there, I wouldn't have been able to control it. I feel for you, Soul. But I agree, I hope one day we can hear a studio version of the song. And that's cool about those facts. I still can't believe Mike got up and did it.

They didn't look comfortable because they're all in so much pain still. It's 100% understandable. They were a family, not just a band who made music together, it was stronger than that. But yeah, you'll never replace what Chester Bennington did. Nobody ever will come close to it, and Mike and the band know that. It goes beyond his voice, it's his whole stage presence that he had, everything. Remember when Rob said in 2014 that Chester was the missing piece of the puzzle that they needed? He was so correct, he was the thing that made Linkin Park work. Now, Linkin Park has always been Mike's baby, don't get me wrong. And if they continue on as a 5 piece, I will fully support it and I think they would be just fine doing so. But I think last night was a very good example as to why they shouldn't replace Chester, and I don't think they ever even thought about it. I think if they continue, a 5 piece would do fine. All fans would accept it and I think it would come naturally for the band, which is the most important part. But yeah, I wouldn't except them to be 100% ready to go. Chester just passed in July, it's only October. They need much longer to heal even a little bit and that's understandable to me.
-
I'd say it surpassed it for me. I didn't cry the first time that I heard One More Light. Strangely, the songs that made me cry off of OML were Nobody Can Save Me and Sharp Edges. And both performances of those songs last night made me cry. Looking For An Answer did, the most. I literally said ''oh god'' when Mike announced it and started playing it because I knew how emotional it would be. But yeah, Mike has crazy courage to have come out and did it. This might be my favorite LP show of all time.

The songs that Mike sang last night, all of them, sounded good, and I could easily picture a show like that. Maybe a 16 song set or something like the band played in early 2003, early 2007, etc. They could make a really cool set and people would love it. Smaller shows would be cool to start. People will love it. But I'm not sure if now is the right time to predict it. I think it will easily be 2018 or maybe even 2019 before they start full scale doing it, if they are going to. I can see them writing a new record and stuff before hand. The band is obviously still very torn up about Chester's death and I don't think they really even wanted to play the show last night, but they did and now they feel better, hopefully. I think they did it solely for the fans, which is amazing of the band. I mean they knew Chester since like 1999 and spent a lot of time with him all the time, since then, and he only passed like 3 months or so ago, so it will take a long time for them to heal even a little, I would say.
-
No, I thought he was going to break down a few times. He looked like he was towards the beginning of this song. But you can literally just hear the pain in his voice. It's so sad. I know I broke down during this song, as well as a lot of others. Mike also looked like he was about to start crying during NCSM, at the line ''I'm hanging off the edge''. Really emotional night. I can't believe Mike had the courage to go out and do these songs, especially this new one. Wow.

LP or LP LA hats? Any local LA LP stores?
Geki replied to loulax07's topic in Everything Linkin Park
I will try and find where Mike talked about it, it was in some video or maybe a print interview, but I think a video. Anyways, I've never been to either of those. They both seem cool and make cool stuff, it wouldn't hurt to check it out. Maybe ask around L.A. too if they know of any place you can go. -
I hate Loudwire but it's cool they honored Chester with this. He did deserve it, he was the best vocalist! Well, at least mine and many others.
-
After last night, I can almost guarantee that if the band continues, it will be as a 5 piece, with Mike being the sole vocalist, obviously. Which I am OK with if they decide to carry on in the future. It's never going to be the same as when Chester was alive, they aren't going to do crazy world tours every year all year long, and we can't expect that. We as fans need to take it slow and give them as much time and support as they need.

Mike actually talked about the L.A. / LP hats and he said that they aren't for sale and were gifts to the band only. I would like to have one too but there's no way any fan can buy one. As far as shops selling Mike's art or LP stuff, I've only been to L.A. two different times, and both times I went to SURU, Mr. Hahn's store, but unfortunately, it is no longer there. I went in 2007 and 2013 and the store closed in 2014 or 2015, can't remember which one, I think 2015. Other than that, you might be able to find some cool stores that sell rock merchandise on Hollywood Blvd. for some LP shirts or something. You can always do Hot Topic and see if they have a shirt or something, but I assume you have one of those wherever you live in the U.S. -

My final thoughts are that this was a really amazing concert. I wish I could have been there. I loved all of the set except for a few guests - didn't enjoy Echosmith or Deryck Whibley. Echosmith sounded OK, I just didn't like the way the girl sang. But Deryck kind of sucked on The Catalyst, I wish someone else sang it instead. But I can't really complain since it was a tribute for Chester. So the whole thing was just amazing. I am glad that I got to watch it live online and it's something I'll never forget. -
You can hear the pain in Mike's voice. Such a sad, beautiful song. I'm glad he performed it.

It had a lot of cool songs, I broken down during Mike's performance of OML and Looking For An Answer. He also was amazing on the intro of the show, with Roads Untraveled, etc. I didn't really like the guests because I don't like other people singing Linkin Park songs except for Linkin Park members. I know the whole point was a tribute though. -

This site is deader than a doornail. Even on the day of a Chester Bennington memorial and it struggles to get like 3 pages worth of posts. Back in the old days like 2008, it would have like 25 pages worth of posts before the day of the show. -
Is there a release date for it yet? When should I expect it? I want to hear it so badly. (Mostly the DTA ever stuff). I also saw that the band mentioned that Everyone Knows and shit will be included, which is badass, I love that song and it will be cool to have it on a physical release.

Apparently the set has leaked? Are we allowed to discuss that here? I know some people want to be surprised but I think some of us wouldn't mind knowing it (myself included). EDIT: If anyone knows, can you PM me? I won't post it here out of respect if I find out. -
Pretty good remix actually.

It might be the final show for ''Linkin Park''. You never know. The future is unknown at this point. I wish I could have made it to L.A. for this but it's all good, I'll definitely be tuning into the stream. Church in that photo. Haha. Good to see that Ryan was invited, etc. -

Dylan, Oli Sykes first concert wasn't LP in 2003, it was LP in 2001. You can even see him in a picture taken by Kerrang at the show.
