AO = new music that brings nothing new to the table and it's basically a copy paste of the trendy sound of pop punk fake revival.

Except with fake Chester AI, then it's the greatest piece of new rock music eva, right?

Already Over is definitely not a pop punk track. Obviously you don't know genres. It's clearly an alternative rock song.

without Chester, everything Mike did is sucks to you right? you should stick to Grey Daze man. "new" album coming soon right? haha.

if Chester still with us, surely gonna hype up this song and supporting Mike while you, as a fan, keep complaining bout it. if this is Linkin Park track with Chester singing it, surely you gonna said this is fkin holy grail. poor man.

It's been a while since Mike did an epic song.

One of my favorites of all time is Over Again and Place to start those songs hit hard.

After that every release feels generic and pretty basic

I'm sure that Mike is capable of doing more and going all out

I always feel like he is holding back.

Already Over release anniversary and no one took a moment to remember it, i dont blame you its a bad overexposed song.

To this day I dont understand what was the point of this release?

during this moment Mike already knew that Linkin Park was coming back and had a HUGE PLAN FOR A MASSIVE COMEBACK

then he did the sessions around the world (which were cool) then he said Shinoda new era is coming like teasing a full comeback solo.

Finally Already Over gets that EP with 99 remixes.

Are the lyrics about Shinoda solo career? he really tried so hard to have a huge hit as a solo artist but it never happened, nothing was really sucessful w the mainstream media.

Probably he thought '' hey its already over with my solo career? it never took off im done.''

The dude made a great solo song that he liked enough to release and talk about, and doing the sessions with LP songs and other singers paved the way for the re-introduction of LP on multiple fronts.

The EP doesn't even have remixes really. If those are remixes, then The Requiem is a remix of The Catalyst. If he didn't name them variations of AO, people would've just been hating on how they're not "full songs" like with ATS

The label probably came up with the "new era" thing along with the pushing for the gaming scape stuff, or maybe he was just bored. Either way, I don't see how it's any more or less pointless than any other one-off singles. Were New Divide and ALTNC pointless?

I think it's still a great song, the FM mix and Nothing's There mix are both amazing, and I admire how much he put into that cycle now knowing that he was cooking LP 2.0 the whole time, not to mention Papercuts right after it

As we saw with Welcome and what was going to happen in fall 2017 with Fort Minor, Mike doesn't necessarily need a break from LP to do anything. I just look at it as he had the opportunity to release a new song and did. Yeah the LP comeback was WELL under way by that point.

It did seem like an album was coming though because of the "new era" comments.

Everything involving Already Over was... weird. Let me explain:

It seems so that the point was just to release a song in the vein of Welcome. A track good enough to be published, and nothing else. But everything around it seemed to indicate something bigger in Mike's solo career. The photoshoots, the AO varians, the sessions with different artist playing AO and LP songs... I even thought back then that those covers were all we were gonna get LP related. With Welcome everything was simpler. He just released the song and played a handful of shows here and there. That was it, no wild guessings.

And with the LP comeback everything is even stranger. If we didn't knew the timing behind the scenes of LP's comeback, I would have said that he was planning to go back solo, then something changed, he resurrected LP and every other plan was scrapped. Now we know that LP was very much alive one year ago. I would have released the song after the From Zero cycle, but as some of you said, he might just was testing waters.
