I'm pretty excited! I'm actually really glad that Mike really didn't say anything about how the album would sound like, since they never really know until they're done. I feel like I can go into this without any preconceived notions.

I know Rick is supposed to be helping on this, but I think it would be cool to have Mike take the helm and maybe just consult a bit with Rick.

Summer was earlier than I thought, but that's cool. Gotta start saving for the eventual US Tour. :D

The guys over at LPA have discovered some cool information. They may have figured out where LP is recording. Check it out.

Astat has the info but isn't posting about it until they want it to be known I guess....

I'll say that Larrabee is ONE of the places the new album is being recorded...but it wasn't the location I was referring to. I don't know how much of the album is being recorded in each specific location (Mike and Joe's home studios, Larrabee, and...??? ;)), so Larrabee might be the "main" location, it might not be. And again, they're not recording at NRG at all this time around. Whether that's intentional or just the way things happened to work out, we'll probably never know.

Also, the fact that they're recording at Larrabee means that (probably bursting a lot of people's bubbles here...) Manny Marroquin will likely be mixing the album again. Larrabee is kind of his "home studio" where he does mixing for a lot of the pop artists he's worked with. He actually mixed Living Things there as well. This is a totally different situation though, with the band actually recording there. It could mean one of two things: Manny's more involved in the recording process this time around instead of being "just the mixing guy," OR it could mean that the band wants to work more closely with him on this album, as having him around during tracking may give him a better reference point for the final mix, which hopefully would result in a better production than Living Things.

Speaking of Manny on a kind of unrelated note, I know we were just talking about Victorious being the working title for ALTNC, and lo and behold, Manny's discography section on his website confirms it outright: http://www.mannymarroquin.com/Discography.php

"LINKIN PARK

Single "Victorious (A Light That Never Comes)" on "Recharged" album"

I believe this is also the first confirmation that Manny actually mixed ALTNC to begin with.

The mixing on LT isn't horrible to me, although LP has used better people to mix their albums in the past. Not too much of a big deal for me, I never get too concerned with that kind of stuff. If the music is good then it doesn't matter, at least to me. But Manny has also worked with rock artists and even some metal artists, etc, he hasn't just worked with pop artists.

I don't think Manny had much impact on how loud the guitar in Burn It Down is etc. I guess that LP, Mike/Brad or whatever hand over the songs pre mixed and the mixer mainly does the usual finishing touches etc.

The mixing is a very important thing, just compare the Hybrid Theory unmastered with the final album, there's quite a difference and the final product is a lot better.

Yeah, there is no arguing that the final product was much better. I guess it is very important.

The guys at LPA mentioned Eastwest Studios in LA. Guess that's the one you're referring.

Nope! That one's news to me.

Also very surprised to see Andy Wallace in the studio with them (and DAMN does he look old these days!). Kind of interested to see how he and Manny are each involved this time around (it's already been confirmed that Manny's in the studio with LP from that interview that mentions them recording a song for a movie). Maybe one is mixing the new album and the other is mixing the Mall soundtrack music?

I think Andy Wallace is mixing the new album and Manny might be mixing Mall with the band. Mall was ''in production'' during the time LT was being recorded and mixed as it is. I don't think they'd bring in Andy just to mix a song for a movie, I think he is mixing the album.

I almost forgot they were doing the Mall soundtrack. Will be interesting to see how that contrasts with album 6 - maybe they're satisfying their electronic urges for Mall, and so that's why the album's going in a more rock direction? Time will tell I guess.

My local radio station (103.3 the edge) here in Buffalo NY, just said they will have new Linkin Park to play later in the week. They said it right after they played "In The End". Could this be off the new record? Or does it have to do with the mall soundtrack? Either way I was excited to hear the news for new Linkin Park. I emailed the dj to see if I can get any more info. If I hear anything I will keep everyone posted.

My Pre Calculus/Trigonometry teacher (he's into heavy music) said he heard a radio station say that they are going to have a lot of different styles of songs on the album, and will shortly be releasing the album title. Take this however you would like.
