If you asked me this on any other album, i would have been able to give an answer, but on ATS? I just love all the songs. There are too many good songs to choose from. I ended coping out and letting my itunes decide for me. And the wining song was Waiting for the End barely coming out on top over Iridescent The Messenger, When They Come For Me and Robot Boy. All of them are all equally the best in my opinion.

Papercut is simply the best song on the album for me. That song is one of my LP classics that never gets old.

A Thousand Suns is definitely Linkin Park's best album to date in this humble fan's opinion. Don't get me wrong, it is not a master piece. It is not perfect because masterpieces and perfection are humanly impossible. There is no such thing.

But A Thousand Suns is near perfect, the best anything can ever be. It is their most diverse album to date. Out of all their albums or any album i have ever had to pleasure of listening to, A Thousand Suns is the only one where i loved every single song. The songs on there are crafted so well with so many layers and textures. They are what i think of when i hear art. It is really a journey. And the lyrics are wonderful.

I mean look at a band like Metallica. Watch this video on how they do their setlist.

Don't tell me LP can't do it.

I think the reason LP dont do their setlist like Metallica is because they have four members whereas LP has 6 meaning more conflicting feelings on songs they want to play. LP's stuff is more electronic and pretty sure when people petitioned for them to add APFMH they couldnt because Joe didnt have the samples and Rob would have to add in a part to his drumkit. Astat would probably have a better answer to that. Metallica are more of a band that are fanfriendly to their fans whereas unfortunately LP isnt.

I think LP is one of the fan friendlily acts out there. One of the reasons i love LP is that they are LP and not like other bands such as Metallica. I don't get what is so great about those guys.

The ideal set-list varies as much as personalities from fan to fan anyways.

I don't get how it would be awkward. The lyrical messages are different. In WTCFM, he's saying he's not the same person he was when they made Hybrid Theory which the lyrics from POA is referring too. He didn't specifically mean the song but generally something they're not anymore or want to be.

And so effing what? They should remove a great song from the setlist simply because you think it would be "awkward?" something i bet only a handful of people among the thousands of people will be thinking about.

I think the video is newsworthy solely based on Mike's supercool jacket! But if leather jackets are not your thing, then i guess there really isn't anything new that we don't already know. At that, i think the video should be added to the original post about the Summit.

You mean the songs they chose to play from their former albums is standard because as a whole, the set list is far from standard. Just the mere addition of the new songs is not standard because they are new and have just recently began playing those.

Hence why i said i prefer this simple stage set as opposed to whatever crazy idea they might have had or still do. I'm seen them with other stage sets and this is by far my favourite. Flashy doesn't work for me unless its Michael Jackson performing.

I actually like the very simple stage. I like it better when the performance of the band or any musician speaks for itself. Too many flashing lights, and whatnots on stage to me is a sign of a lack of confidence in the performance. I don't want to be distracted from the live band. I can go to clubs where the theme is flashing lights and distracting visuals. I was afraid the band was going to do something really flashy and i'm glad they didn't. I don't get the obsession with how flashy the stage should be. And pyros? Seriously? How dangerous and seriously classless. It only belongs on a KISS stage and the circus. Since the KISS band dress like clowns anyways, it suits them. If you want a real dress up, then go see Katy Perry who can't sing to save her live and can't even dance and need all that distraction to make the audience think they're getting their money's worth.

My wishes:

 

- Drop "Iridescent", "Shadow Of The Day", and most importantly: "Numb". If you can drop "Somewhere I Belong", you can definitely send "Numb" packing.

- Add "P5hng Me A*wy", "A Place For My Head", and "With You".

- Close the show with "One Step Closer".

- Debut rotating setlists with "Blackout" and "Burning In The Skies" somewhere.

- Meteora songs would be muy bueno

- TALK during the show.

Drop Iridescent? You must be out of your damn mind and a great heap of delusional if you think LP will drop the other singles? Accept it or not but most people at any given concert enjoy those singles. The only part i agree with is that they should drop Shadow of the Day, not because i don't like that song as i love it very much, but it just doesn't translate well live. It is one of those songs that gets lost in the empty space. That and Crawling. Does not translate well live for the same reasons. And Somewhere I Belong is only great for the first half. The second half of that song is weak. I don't get the great love of it.

Those pictures are awesome. I like Mike's smile. And the best part of the article was when Mike explained the evolution of their lyrics. It was spot on what i thought too. There is no such thing in my opinion as a preachy song. Music is an art and is very optional. No one forces anybody to listen to music that they don't like the lyrics.

Because then we'd have to rent a venue for a whole new day, which costs LOTS of money and means the cost of YOU going to the event would be MORE money.

It's truly really nice of you to take your time to field questions even though people will still find something to complain about no matter what and forget that the universe doesn't revolve around them.

It is a nice idea. It definitely sounds like a lot of fun, and should be great for those in Europe and especially the UK.

 

But... It does suck that its in the UK. How about those in the US that worked tirelessly to get the band noticed here before anybody gave a rat's ass overseas. I understand most of the contests are for US residents only, but who wants a dumb plaque when you can go to an LPU international summit. For those who have many complications and a life, its not easy to simply get up and travel half way across the world to a different country with less than a month's notice. We are not all kids, still in school, living on mommy and daddy's paychecks... I hate when the LPU does location specific stuff. It leaves everyone else with moderate responsibilities left out.

 

Like most things in the LPU the last several years... Great idea's, horrible implementation. Hopefully I turn out being wrong. Hating on those who are simply dissapointed is stupid on it's own. Sorry if all of you don't like it, but thats how I feel. You can't silence all the critics, so it would be wise to learn to block them out if they annoy you. People have serious issue's these days simply ignoring something if it bothers you so much...

Dude, there is a difference between complaining, criticism and general whining for the sake of whining at every little thing. Yours is whining for the sake of whining. In case you haven't noticed, the world is a big place. Secondly, the band can only be in one place at a time. Third, anyone with an ounce of intellect is perfectly aware that not everyone will be able to attend this event. I doubt LP rented out a stadium for this event or a place to fit the entire LPU. Lastly, this is obviously a very new creation of the LPU. There is no way any sane person will institute an event all over the world for the first time(disregarding the fact that LP cannot be in more than one place at a time) without first trying it out to see how it goes. You don't have a magic crystal ball and cannot say for certain what the band will or will not do in the future.

In as much as i do love Projekt Revolution and would really want one next year, i can totally understand why the band wouldn't want to have one for this album cycle.

And you're retarded. Sorry! I don't care if you think its the best thing ever. I hated the recording. It's as simple as that.

The proshot videos are terrible. I found better audience recordings than those. The muted sound like it was recorded from away was so annoying and made it really hard to play the videos from beginning to end. Thankfully there are fans who got a better recording. Professional my ass.

On a positive note, i am very much taken with the bands energy and cohesiveness with their performance. Brad seems to change his instruments with the same frequency as Britney Spears changes costumes in a show. The bands energy is awesome. They are definitely having as much fun as the audience. And i couldn't ask for anything better than that. And the new album sounds great live. Those songs excite me more than the old stuff and the performances of them are beyond awesome.

All i noticed from those videos was how adorable Mike Shinoda is.

Is this a joke? Like seriously? Even without the answer in bold letters, just by simple process of elimination and logic, anyone can determine the answer in .09 seconds. A lot faster even than googling the answer.

Whoever came up with the saying at the bottom of the poster is a genius. I think a poster like that with that saying should be made and given to the band. At the least, they would get a laugh out of it like i did.

Now, Joe is getting this energy back, Chester is walking around or going down to the crowd during songs like Numb or Breaking The Habit, Brad is playing other instruments, the whole band is singing... You just have to look at the NYC videos. For me, they are a unit and enjoy everything they do on stage.

Well, I can't judge from all 2008 shows but Berlin 2008 was the best show of my life and no show will ever top this.

If they add some talking during the European Tour I'm the happiest man alive. Becuase the actual performance is pretty good but I still miss some talking or interacting.

You my friend don't know what you want. From what i could possibly gather from your very contradicting words, you want something very specific from the band, or should i say, you want the band to say some specific stuff. It is not the "talking" or "interactions" that matters here. It is what sort of "talk" or "interaction" that is important. Like you want the band to recreate whatever made your show special to you. Chester and Mike may have gone into the crowd and interacted with them during a few songs and had fun with a bunch of songs with the audience in this tour and it still won't count as an "interaction" to you. The may say a host of things and it still won't matter because it wasn't the specific things you wanted.

And that right there is why i think you're going to be disappointed. Why you would want the band to say generic obligatory comments to you is beyond me. Personally, i liked knowing that Mike chose my show to reveal the meaning behind TLTGYA or the band chose my show to come down into the crowd and sign autographs as opposed to them doing it at every show which makes those moments not so genuine and memorable.

and arbiter, I fucking now what CookieMonster is talking about. Just by watching the videos from 2008 I get really sad because the band hasn't got that "feeling" for the crowd anymore. They aren't really talking anymore, and that's the sad thing about the new shows. I remember Berlin 2008, they made up an awesome atmosphere and were talking like shit. And now? A few times "Thank You!" and thats it? No talking, no interacting? That isn't the LP I used to know back in 2008.

Based on my experience of all the time I've seen the band live, my favourite concert to date was the one in New York City this year. At that concert, they didn't even introduce the new songs like i expected one would considering... And they didn't tell us any stories, say hello or anything like that. Chester spoke to the crowd towards the end thanking the fans for supporting them. But that was the extent of "talking" to the crowd. They've said more to the crowd in all the other shows i've been too in between songs and whatnot. But what made this show special to me and a standout was how much the band seem to enjoy themselves up there and seem more cohesive and a unit. They were more energetic and very present in their performance. And because of that, i felt even more excited. The love for what they were doing as they enjoyed themselves was infectious. It transported itself onto the audience. It didn't feel like Brad was off in his own little world or Phoenix was on automatic. Many of the time i caught them smiling and looking pleased. And when Chester said thank you, it felt genuine. And the band is impulsive sometimes. And one of those was Mike and Chester coming down into the audience to shake hands with fans after the concert.

I strongly think that part of the bands new atmosphere is a result of the new album. It requires them to be more interactive with each other, their stage, and their performance in general. And basically the atmosphere is just different from all the other times I've seen them in the past 3 years. And i would rather the band not say a single word to me if it means they actually look like they want to be there as much as i do. And that they are having fun playing the songs as much as i am listening to them.

I am very excited to go see them on the ATS tour.

I just hope that the band never loses the fun element that was so prominent in their shows. It's good that they now have established a very strong stage show, with the visuals and sound and presence to go with it. They needed that. Now I'd like to see them add back in their sense of play and fun with their show and the music, Chester has always done a great job with it, but for the rest of the guys it's seemed to have deteriorated a bit.

i don't mind the setlist and im most def going to see them if they come to washington next year but i just wish they didn't play the interludes cause i think its just a waste. plus if you add the requim the radiance you have more time. so if you take out all of thoose you have time for 2 more meteora songs.

blasphemy. Those interludes are so much a part of all the ATS songs. I especially loved The Requiem with The Radiance as a show opener tacked onto New Divide at the release concert.

And even with the weird splitting up of The Radiance from the The Requiem, the song made a killer opener on the album and also as a live opener. And it doesn't matter really if they took out The Requiem. They'd just replace it with another instrumental opener they write for all their other shows like WID and OSC. So i'd rather they play The Requiem; a legitimate piece from the new album. It sets the right tone and mood for the concert.

And Iridescent is a great song by itself, but i would rather hear it with Wisdom, Justice & Love as an opener because for some reason, it resonates more emotionally and adds even more to the song.

And Waiting For The End, can stand perfectly on its own two feet but i just really like/used to hearing it right after Jornada Del Muerto as it sounded so good live and in my ipod so it is a must.

Fallout and Empty Spaces are the only two "interludes" i think don't really add anything to the song that follows it so i could do without them but seeing as how the songs themselves barely take up a minute and a half of time, it doesn't have any benefits to taking them out or leaving them in. If the band wants to play more stuff or not, they will regardless of the interludes.

And besides. News flash: The more albums an artist releases, the more they have to drop songs from all their previous albums in order to accommodate the new material. Which usually means the set-list usually ends up being made up of singles that has defined the band's career.
