  1. Man, bullshit. fans won't know what with you is... or by myself? bullshit. They are a top band, of course their fans will know the song. If not, then they will hear a new song from LP and start liking it. Someone tell me how adding 2-3 songs that are NOT single's for once would hurt anybody. It will give some of the older fans to yell louder and rock out harder too. Stupid.

Shorter album? Bullshit. Then have only have those ten songs for like 2-3 years before we get a SINGLE or two new songs after that? bullshit.

I didn't know "No More Sorrow," "The Little Things Give You Away," "In Pieces," "Lying From You," "Pushing Me Away," "Don't Stay," "A Place for My Head," "Valentines Day," "Hands Held High" and "In Between" were all singles. <_<

That must explain why I've heard them play this songs live on their last tour with the crowd absolutely digging them.

  2. That's quite possibly one of the worst responses I have ever heard. Unfortunately? Sorry the fans that have stuck with you with dedication, loyalty, and not to mention, cold hard cash like the songs that gave you a following.

This was apparently a joke of a chat. Everyone gets so excited about Shinoda and he drops all this seemingly negative information. If they can't even put 12 tracks on an album that, probably when its all said and done, took two years to make, then I don't know what to say.

Also, I highly doubt this "new song" is going to be anything worth significant interest. My guess is its something like the highly overrated "Lockjaw" or something based more around instrumentation and short length.

Ironic isn't it that you're accusing Mike of being negative while practically bleeding negativity with your little rant. <_<

  3. Well, we all know Nickelback will win this one because...they're Nickelback.

Not true. They've been nominated five times in the past and have never won one. How's that for not winning because they are Nickelback! <_<

I hope Alice in Chains wins. They're the only nominee besides Nickelband who has never won one before and their new album is made of win. And the new line-up deserve to win so that they know just what I've known all along, they are most definitely finally perfect with William Duvall.

If AIC don't win, then i hope LP takes it home even though i don't think the nomination makes much sense. ;)

  4. no...Muse is bigger than LP...Muse sold more than 50 milion albums and won various grammys!

Of course muse is smaller than Linkin Park...

...somebody will post under me saying that sales don´t classify a band status and bla bla.... but Muse is smaller and even they now that. You can see it in Festivals when Linkin Park play Headline spots and Muse don´t (e.g Rock am Ring 2007)

Hey! Don't knock down Muse. They are awesome! Who cares how many album they've sold or who headlines over who.

Paramore are decent but don't really stand out musically or aesthetically for that matter. Knock down all you want. Just leave Muse out of it. ;)

  5. Well, the simple fact Mike acknowledged that Joe is being a bit more present throughout the session is proof enough that Joe simply was not there in his role as a DJ compared to what we have seen on HT and Meteora, and his stellar work on Reanimation and a ton of LP demos/other material.

While you're right that Joe is more than just scratching, it's pretty clear he didn't have as much of a defined role for MTM. In fact, on the MTM DVD, he was basically described as a "tech" assigned with putting sounds through different amps - in the weird ass and robotic way of the band assigning certain members to certain tasks. I'm willing to bet most of the non-instrument sounds we hear are more Mike also (in the studio).

Fact of the matter is, Joe has been an oddity of this band since MTM came out and the touring cycle began, so he needs to be more involved with the band in terms of how we used to know him with some excellent scratching solos, beats, and unique patterns that were really integral to defining LP's sound.

Seriously doubt anything more than a 12 track CD but I wouldn't be surprised if there was a special addition much like Atreyu's last CD that came out last month. There was a Best Buy edition with 2 B-sides AND a Hot Topic edition with a separate B-side. There might have been more, I didn't look it up. I know we will get at least one B-side like we did with NRL for iTunes.

My question is, why the hell is it your problem if Joe is present on an album or not? If he chooses to not scratch and input into the bands music differently like he did for M2M, why is that a problem? Is it only acceptable to you guys if he contributes the way you feel you want him to contribute for it to count? If Joe wants to create beats instead of scratching, he is free to do that. It's none of anyone's business. If you don't like it, then don't buy the damn CD and spare the rest of us the same old argument that has been tossed around for the past 2 years. No one has a right to dictate the input of each band member to the band.

Mike probably acknowledges it because of all the accusations been thrown their way. Till Joe complains, i don't see a problem. The band decides what sound they want to have together.

And all this thing about Joe being the odd man out is just pure fan speculation. not based on any fact. You were not there behind the scenes or in the band to know what really happens in their creative process.

  6. I would like to know, why the hell are people disappointed with the demos. Do you people not understand the concept of what a demo means? You know, a song in its early stages, an idea that leads to the finished product. <_<

Like seriously, it's just absurd when people expected the demos to be polished, and finished songs with full lyrics. demos most of the time are not play worthy as a song. I'm glad the Stick N' Move we got was that 30 second instrumental. Serves people right for demanding something they have no understanding for. You requested demos, the band gave it to you. They never said you'd like it. Obviously they didn't like it hence how it transformed into the finished product.

    On more important matters,

The only song i was looking forward to was Across the Line: I loved it on first listen and thought it was definitely album worthy. I wonder why they cut it. This would be my question at the next LPU chat.

The Demos: I don't care much for unfinished songs so i don't care much for demos. The only ones i like are the Breaking the Habit and A.6 Instrumental because i love instrumentals.

  7. The line-up would have been perfect if they had added Muse to Night 1. I will definitely be going to Night 1; looking forward to see Alice in Chains, Dead by Sunrise and possible A.F.I.

A sidenote: Why the hell is AFI headlining over Alice in Chains? :o I hope it doesn't mean Alice in Chains will have less time to perform. That would suck if that happens. I don't care much for Rise Against so it all depends on how entertaining they are for me to sit through them to see AFI.

  8. First of all, why is it that people assume that we'll be getting a Chester-sung-version of "Stick N' Move"?

I am looking forward to "Across the Line": because it's a new song. I am curious to see why it was never originally finished and why it was cut from the final selection.

Second of all, I am looking forward to the "Drum Song": this song is to date the only epic song LP has written. It is beautiful, and under-appreciated by the fanbase simply because it isn't your usual run-of-the-mill LP song. I would like to hear what it sounded like in its demo phase.

  9. Seriously people; who cares? It's just a freaking internet award that amounts to nothing. It doesn't decide anything about any band. Linkin Park doesn't have to win every internet award out there especially useless ones like this. I presume even the members of Linkin Park don't care about it. Paramore are the ones who need that kind of self-esteem boost, not Linkin Park. I say let them win.

  10. Chester isn't being realistic if he thinks he can do both Linkin Park and Dead by Sunrise records continuously and simultaneously without sacrificing one for the other or a personal life. At least, i don't see how that is possible to be honest.

  11. You are right.. That's why Linkin Park sucks! lol

I never really jumped here screaming "LP SUCKS! CHESTER FTW!!1"

Yes you did! *points at above quote* Sure you didn't write it in blocks but and i don't see how that makes any difference. Same words, same meaning.

  12. *rolls eyes*

I knew him saying that would prompt this kind of comment.

He never said he was "following" the band. However, who are you to say what the "proper" way is to follow a band? I follow Creed because I like Mark Tremonti's guitar playing. Is that bad?

Why is he on here? LESTAT runs the Julien-K and Chester portion of the site. You don't have to be a diehard LP fan to work for LPLive. I take GREAT pride in my staff knowing how diverse we are and how, with that in mind, we can all still work together very well. If there's one thing I like about LPLive, is I think hands down the group of people I work with is an incredibly talented, awesome group of people. Everyone brings something different to the table and it really shows in my opinion.

If someone hates LP but loves DBS and wants to do the DBS section, then they are more than welcome. I never set any criteria for the members in terms of you HAVE to like LP to come here. LPLive has just SOB fans, LPLive has just Julien-K fans, LPLive has just LP fans, LPLive has fans of all LP-related projects and not LP, LPLive has all sorts of people that like different bands we include on the site. Just because it is labeled LPLive doesn't mean you have to love LP. I know people hate us posting other band's stuff like Julien-K, but seriously, they can get over that.

LESTAT likes Julien-K, and he loves Chester, but not necessarily LP. I love having him work on the site; he's one of the hardest working staff members we have, but according to you he doesn't belong here since he doesn't like LP?

EDIT: I'm not trying to come off as mean or insult you in any way, just so you know. A lot of people have complained about this before and I felt I finally needed to say something on the matter.

Outright insulting LP is what i don't like. This site i remember started of with LP and is called Lplive. The side projects were added after-wards so yes, i take offense when someone insults the band i am a fan of on a fansite. I get that most people don't think much of LP and i can live with that.(exhibit A: Epicenter) To each their own. But on their own damn site or fan sites, that's just too much.

Off all the places, this is the second most inappropriate place besides the bands site. I don't care much for Julien-K so i stay away from anything that involves them. I don't flood the threads with my lack of interest. I understand that it relates to Linkin Park indirectly and respect that.

I demand the same respect. And that goes for that dude Sotrix who keeps insulting Chester on here.

  13. I don't like LP because its not good enough for me.

Chester's vocals is the only good thing about this band. I don't hate other members, I just think they are mediocre musicians.

That's the dumbest reason to follow a band. Not to mention joining a fan site. <_<

If that is all you were interested in, then why are you on here? And i hardly see how you can separate the music from Chester. He is 1/6th of its creator and not just vocally.

Not to mention, it's very rude to come on a fan site and bash the band the site is dedicated to.

Chester has good vocals but my point was that in my opinion labeling Mike as a mediocre musician is surprising seeing how much he does in terms of producing the albums as well as creating a lot of the music himself. LP is very mediocre, there's not much to their music, but I think labeling Mike as person as mediocre is interesting.

I call that bullshit. Purely subjective. People think The Beatles or Metallica are gods but i find them quite boring and plain. Purely subjective. If it weren't so, then i should find them just as inspiring as everyone else.

  14. That Performance on Letterman was made of win. Chester was fantastic and spot on.

As for the rest of the band, they bore me to tears. At least all you need to watch is Chester anyways.

Is it me, or was Chester sporting a Mike Shinoda hairdo? Either way, it looks great on him. Very pretty and adorable.

  15. Next, they will be playing Vegas yet AGAIN (what's new?) at The Joint @ Hard Rock Hotel as a part of "Holiday Havoc '09"...they will be opening for Alice In Chains. Will we finally get another "Man In The Box" collaboration at this show?

Why are they opening for Alice in Chains? They hardly sound musically similar. And if i went to see Alice in Chains who just released a new album in 14 years with a great new singer coupled together with all the buzz surrounding them, i wouldn't give a crap to sit through a new band who don't sound anything like AIC. I can imagine getting impatient and just wanting Alice in Chains to come out already.

Personally, this would be the best show ever for me to attend second only to Epicenter which had Linkin Park on the bill. Alice in Chains and DBS in one night is brilliant. I wish i lived in Vegas.

  16. Yes. This.

Did you see the LPU referral contest video from when LP was in the studio recording MTM? They played that clip of TLTGYA with Mike on lead vox.....hoooooly shit. A part of me died when I heard that...so epic. Epicness of all epicness from MTM man, damn.

If they put THAT on the CD, I will build a shrine to the LPU in my back yard.

And people are going to think you're weird and call the local mental institution to come get you.

In all seriousness, Mike on vocals in TLTGYA would be awesome. Another vocal switch i would like would be Chester on No Roads Left. I am very curious as to why Mike's vocals were chosen instead of Chester's especially when the song called for a high vocal range that I wasn't sure Mike had with the high notes and all.

Although i do love the freshness of Mikes voice in that song. His singing voice has a haunting quality that makes me excites me. ;)

  17. What on earth is making people think Chester would ever leave Linkin Park? Are you on crack?

Chester will never leave Linkin Park. Dead by Sunrise is his current passion and why wouldn't it? It's a whole different sort of songs and group so of course anyone would be passionate about the change of scenery. But it doesn't mean Linkin Park isn't still his number one passion.

And besides, I hardly doubt the rest of the band would be so supportive if he was trying to leave the band. That's just logic.

And who bloody cares if Linkin Park albums are ill-received by critics. All critics can do is give their verdict, but they don't influence the public as much as they think. People will buy an LP album if they want regardless of if all the critics in the world hates it. Besides, letting a bunch of people decide for you what to spend your money on or what bands to listen to makes you a bloody puppet. <_<

And for a band that critics hates, they sure sell a lot of albums.

And i hardly doubt Chester was talking about Don Gilmore.

  18. You guys are never happy. Fort Minor vs. DBS? First of all, there is no grounds to compare them as they are very different. Another thing, why do people even feel the need to do so? Is it because they are both side projects? Just like comparing 'What I've Done' with "New Divide" just because they were both used for Transformers?

Mike and Chester are very talented musicians whose individual strength together give us LP. Separately, FM and DBS is what you get. How about we just appreciate the music and judge it exclusively from the other and LP  .

  19. nice song, but this sounds awesome live, less in studio ;)

That's what everyone said regarding "Qwerty." "Qwerty" i agree is better live but for "My Suffering," i say both are equally just as good. But the underlying point is it's a testament to how great a singer Chester is. ;)

  20. Boooo! I don't care much for Queens or AC/DC. Together, they're even more boring. I gravitated toward LP because they were different from all those straight rock acts incorporating different styles. but maybe LP's spin could make those sounds bearable.

As for LP + hardcore-techno, a match made in heaven for me. Although, I'm still curious to hear what the demo sounds like.
