You guys realize that NIN has gone on to be more than just Trent Reznor in the past few years and albums, right? He brings in musicians (usually drummers like Dave Grohl on half of the songs on Witha Teetha in 05) when needed, especially on the last album. He named a song The Four Of Us Are Dying on 2008's The Slip because more people were involved. Trent still controls the direction the way that he always has though. As for the Ryu deal, yeah we have agreed that FM is Mike and the songs are featuring whoever. According to Ryu in the post, it was originally Mike's solo project and SOB helped out on s few songs. Although that ended up being more than a few, I still view it as being Mike's concept from the beginning. He was the original initiator of it all anyway, just like he was for Welcome. Ryu has a point about the touring part too, but this is a bit different because.... Welcome is about MIKE coming back into his rap roots (please bear with how cliche that sounds). Ryu's verse could have been great but it wouldn't have been as great of a fit on a song that is about Mike. Look at Red to Black, that isn't as much of a personal song and each rapper has their own input for the theme of it. If there DOES happen to be an entire album, I expect guests still. This was also Mike's idea to bring back FM and do this entire campaign to promote himself. He deserves Welcome the way he wants it.

I came here to post that haha. Something else, but I don't know how official it became. There were three total jam session recordings with Tom Morello (the best one in their eyes became Drawbar). If the other jams moved far enough in production, those might also count.

The performance on Conan is about to come on!

http://genius.com/Fort-minor-welcome-lyrics Lyrics are already up so no need to transcribe. I really like the first verse because of his rhyme scheme and patterns. Reminds me of how Eminem bends the endings to a lot of words to make them rhyme (like Mike does with singing and hanging). Chorus makes me think of Drake for some reason, and I don't even listen to Drake. Something about the way he's singing a little lower but I still like it. Second verse isn't great but the second half of that verse is better, except his rhyming is lazier. The theme of the song is different from the cocky rapping that Mike has been doing for the last 5 years and I like how it's more of a return to rapping this way as the idea, but it could be a bit stronger. That instrumental bridge is pretty much perfect. I really hope Mike plays the synth on Conan for that part (otherwise he might as well just leave after the second chorus and then come back at the end). I like how it uses some stuff outside of the typical scales and some "wrong notes" are in the right spots. The end of that with the high notes is great. Looking forward to seeing how it is performed live, and the single artwork looks nice. Hoping the video is cool too and I can picture a lot of graffiti and panorama shots.

Ok this is awesome on first listen. I'll give it another few and try to make the lyrics for it with a review soon.

Mike was posting Snapchats yesterday of him flying to New York. Chester was there too.

Are we expecting one song? If there will be one new song and an old one for the crowd I'm hoping Chester performs with Mike.

The Hunting Party - One Year Later
Tyleronlplive replied to Tyleronlplive's topic in Everything Linkin Park
DAMMIT ALL my song-by-song review was just deleted by accident. Oh well, maybe I'll retype that tomorrow, but it's been a year so is it really all that necessary? The majority of that is just me gushing about ALITS. I swear that is probably the greatest song LP has ever written. -
2015.06.20 - Montebello, QC - Amnesia Rockfest

Damn Brad's solo sounds strong there. -
What are your thoughts on the album now that one year has passed since its release? This was definitely a different album in many ways - hard rock, the promotion and distribution of it, the collaborations, and the touring cycle. Use this thread to reflect on everything about this album!

Phoenix posted an Instagram picture yesterday of picks with him and Rob on them.

For the short amount of time it was alright but I really don't like short videos. They completely cut out anything about Brad's absence at one festival (family emergency so I doubt they would cover that) and Benjamin playing again. I can't tell what Brad is trying to say about the show being cancelled or what his argument is either. But a few funny parts were still there. They could have showed Phoenix's VyRT chat instead of Chester not wearing a jacket. ITE and Papercut sounded great (plus you can hear the strings for a rare occasion at 2:00) but they could also do stuff for the new songs. I mean ALITS got a longer video about just the rehearsal and live debut, this was a week's worth of footage condensed way too much and leaving out good stuff. Also, Devil's Drop? They totally missed an opportunity with the ALITS intro over the footage of the storm.

So anything on this?

Reminder for no one to try to link or ask for a link to the LPU videos here

Last album cycle we got I'll be Gone in videos even though it was never played.

The point I was making was that Chester messed up the lyrics. Did anyone notice some new sound effects on the SBD recording here? Like at 3:38-3:40.

Linkin Park's Youtube page has uploaded a new video of them rehearsing their Hunting Party closer, A LINE IN THE SAND. The video shows them practicing different parts at Third Encore, re-teaching each other their parts, and planning how to pull it all off before they debuted it at Rock In Rio USA Great job on the debut, and subscribe to Linkin Park's Youtube Page for more!

Rob said they were supposed to go back into the studio in September so this might mean some changes to their mindset at the time

Thanks, waiting to see if Zwierz makes one

Any remixes so far?
-
The bass is good and the vocals, harmonies, and vocoder are good combos. My problem is that the stems don't sync up. When LP releases their instrumentals and a capellas those line up if you played them at the same time.

ALTNC acoustic gtr is in the "quiet" part of the bridge right after Mike does his "And I told them, nah you don't know me" verse and before Chester comes in. Just finished downloading it but I can't play with Windows Media Player and it doesn't give me an "Open with..." option, any tips? And did anyone else notice that the filename calls it HORIZONS instead of Darker than Blood? My guess is that these are either older stems or they were just saved from when it was still called Horizons and the name change was the final thing that happened after instrumentation and recording was finished. Probably the latter.

Calling it now, there will be a decent amount of DTB/ALTNC mashups. I'll check it out because it would be fun to hear a rock remix of DTB.
