  1. That makes a good mix, if you ask me.
  2. I would take him seriously if he had a realistic defense.
  3. There's definitely some sort of drum pads being used on Wretches and Kings. There's a pedal being used for Brad's 'solo' on Waiting for the End. (Most likely a Digitech whammy again.) As far as Mike's vocal effect on Fallout, there's a vocoder being used. He is either playing each of the "voices" directly through a keyboard or he has some sort of octave effect along with the vocoder itself. A vocoder is used to alter your voice and is popular in the group Daft Punk. It's mainly used to make you sound robotic but it has been used for other means. The way it works is you have two inputs for the vocoder, the vocoder effect being the output. One input is the device you are using to play the individual notes, and the other input is the sound that you wish to manipulate, Mike's voice in this case. Ex: Input 1 = Mike's Voice Input 2 = Keyboard Output = Vocoder As far as the vocal effects used on The Catalyst, it sounds like a phaser. Rob Zombie has used a strange phaser effect during live performances that sounds similar to what could be pulled off on that song. Joe's gear looks pretty normal to me except now he has a more compact set of samplers, a Korg Kaossilator, and whatever that Lemur device is. It looks like something video related but I can't be too sure. It's possibly something to do with the visuals they had behind them.
  4. I think they have a right to make it a discussion matter. Hahninator was pointing out something that did seem quite odd. It would be pretty lame if lip-syncing was occurring for the wrong reasons, however I do agree that it shouldn't have been put on newswire. We all make mistakes and I highly doubt it was to bring "blind hate". Although, Mark does have a seemingly strong distaste for ATS.
  5. My thoughts exactly. They weren't afraid in the past to use backing tracks for Brad's guitar (POA). On another note, how do you people think he did the voice on the record? Did he hire Daft Punk to do the work for him? I'm pretty sure he experimented with it and got that. I don't think he would simply do a pitch shift.
  6. You know...Mike just gave LPL a shout-out and you are making him look like a sham. Tsk tsk...
  7. Your username: rav0k Username of your nominee: Linkin/Joze Which prize they would receive: Whatever he prefers. Reason for nomination: Throughout the past decade, I have encountered many disputes amongst many Linkin Park fans which led to a period of me despising every living person that had the slightest hint of support for the band. I associated adolescence with anyone who supported the band and I had become a very unhappy person. This all changed for me upon meeting LinkinJoze, who added me via MSN Messenger to talk as friends. I was able to rant about all the negative things in my head while this dude just sat there and read everything I had to say. That takes a really good person to want to help you through whatever you are experiencing when they don't even know you. I think LinkinJoze deserves an iPod for being a kind person and reviving the part of me that was able to look past all the arrogance that is within Linkin Park forums. It took me until I met him to realize that not all the people are bad, I just had too many bad experiences to believe it. I had too much of a chip on my shoulder to realize that there will always be the good and the bad, regardless of where you stand. I should have taken note of this many years ago. (Take this as an apology post as well, if you will.) I also think LinkinJoze deserves a sealed copy of every single LPU CD, as he is a very devoted fan and has supported everything they have done throughout the years. He has been able to criticize the work of the band without dropping the ball and moving on. If you ask me, it takes a real fan to be able to critique the work of a band to help them and stand by their side for many years to come.

    MTV VMA's

Well shit, I'd rather Chester get off pitch than disappoint me for lip-syncing his entire way through his career.

I don't think it was Chester's voice so much as the bad job at mixing. The vocals were really prominent and the bass/guitar seemed really low compared to everything else that was going on. Either way, I thought it was a pretty damn good job for their "first" performance of it.
  10. Not to completely ignore every good point you did make in your whole post, but how you could possibly think this after seeing Kurt's performance on Top of the Pops? Kurt Cobain had no respect for being fake. As far as I'm concerned, it's because of acts like that which created the possibility for Linkin Park to perform on the same show as a real band (meaning they didn't have to fake their performance). Nirvana was far from overrated.... I said that I really loved the whole album but I am really starting to hate that song. There's something really annoying about it and the lyrics are very unappealing about 3/4 of the way through. I think because it sounds like a lot of modern Hip-Hop artists that are using different samples to try and sound fresh but at the end of the day they still sound like garbage. Not saying the song is garbage, it just reminds me of garbage.
  11. A burnt picture of Don Gilmore signed by Linkin Park. Did I get it?
  12. I'm still perplexed as to how this album sounds "pop" to people. Are you still living in 1995? I wish I was but unfortunately I'm not. This album does not sound pop.
  13. It's sad. This is what the world has come to.
  14. I got what you were saying man. No hard feelings. I can't wait to hear what they come up with.
  15. It was the image of that in my head that made me laugh. That would suck but it was still a funny thought. For the sake of your own defense, name a band that you like that receives no airplay. That's what pop is after all, "pop"ular.
  16. I would agree that there's not really specific songs that I find amazing to play over and over besides The Catalyst and Wretches and Kings. I prefer to listen to the whole album as it feels like an experience. The other songs have too weird of a structure to play as a standalone track in my opinion but I still think it's great overall. Edit: Double post my bad.
  17. It's possible to make most of those sounds with a guitar pedal alone.
  18. Oh okay, well there is still a lot of guitar on this album. There were just a lot of effects pedals (and other sources) used that may have not suited your tastes. There is also plenty of drums and bass. It is just shrouded by electronic sounds. That's not a bad thing for me, as I am a fan of bands such as White Zombie, Mushroomhead and a few other bands that use synthesizers and such.
  19. Shouldn't you have been complaining during Minutes to Midnight though? This album has more of their roots than that album did. (This is probably why I like it so much.)
  20. That might be the case. You never know.
  21. Are you claiming that Rush is crap because they have electronic influences?
