  1. Get the candles and the party poppers out, it's LPLive's birthday! 12 years ago, on September 16, 2006, Mark and Jonas - known as Hahninator and AndOne respectively - started the site as a way of accurately documenting Linkin Park's live shows so the trading community could have an accurate source of information. Since then, we've expanded in both size and purpose; we have a huge community of almost 7,000 members, a great team from around the world, and a whole lot of LP news and content to provide. 12's not a big number (though LPLive hits those edgy teen years next year), but every new year that we can do this is a great step. None of us make any money from this, none of us get any special benefits outside the LP world for this. What we get is a connection with you, and to this music. This site has given all of us - team members and site members alike - opportunities with Linkin Park, with other fans, and these shows we love to cover that we like to think other fanbases just don't have. And most of all, this fanbase has proven that time and time again, when someone falls, we'll all pick them back up. Because that's who we are: LP Soldiers. So, on our 12th birthday, from us to you, thank you for everything. We hope you'll stick around for another 12 years to come, and hopefully even more beyond that. We don't have any cake to offer, but feel free to check out a small gift LPLive style for everyone: a new Recording Of The Week in the form of an upgraded recording from Linkin Park's 2008 Milton Keynes show - the same one from the Road To Revolution DVD! If you're new to LPLive (we know a lot of you come from Twitter and Facebook) - feel free to sign up to the forums and join the discussion! We have lots to offer - we're working on more and more exclusives to share with you all (some of them coming in the next few weeks in the form of Recording Of The Week). Over the 12 long years of running this site we've released a whole lot of exclusives for ya - all of which you can find on the Downloads page, ranging everywhere from never-before heard demos to unreleased live recordings. Join the forums and say hi! It'd be a nice birthday present to get a few new members For everyone else, be sure to follow us on social media: we're on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram! Be sure to follow us on there for the latest news from the Linkin Park world. It's a bit of a quiet period right now, but in a few weeks, Mike's Post Traumatic Tour will start its long trek throughout North America, and we'll be bringing you all the first information from every show. Let us know what you're favorite memories of being part of LPLive were below and help us relive some of those memories from the last 12 years!
  2. Thanks! We would do a pre-show post if he had any feasible way of getting any updates on the show, unfortunately if we ever do find any videos even then we probably won't get much info. Not much we can say or predict about these DJ sets.
  3. We've gotten quite a bit of anniversary merch this year! In May came the Minutes To Midnight Anniversary merch that featured logos and squares. Then in June came the Living Things anniversary which featured... more squares. Now it's September, and you know what that means: it's the eight-year anniversary of A Thousand Suns! As of yesterday, the album is eight years old! And how do we celebrate it? With squares! Thankfully, that last part was a lie. Instead of bringing out a bunch of designs, the band has opted for two of them - and only one of them dons a square! You can choose from the white Eagle Tee or the black Thousand Suns Tee. The Eagle Tee is pretty much the cooler one, we can't lie - the design is on point and it isn't a square (hallelujah!). Probably one of the best t-shirt designs from the band yet! The Thousand Suns Tee is more conservative on the front, featuring the albums title on the chest and the cover of the deluxe edition (the inverse colors) on the back. In square format. Both are available now on the official Linkin Park store, so be sure to nab them while you still can! Will you be buying any of the shirts? I'm nabbing the Eagle Tee - it's honestly the first anniversary design I've really loved so far. Perhaps this means the band's stepping up the game with these anniversary merch designs. The next one coming up is Hybrid Theory in October - and we know very well that they'll want to nail the designs for that round of merch. Let's just hope it's not squares. We'll be keeping you updated on everything that happens in the Linkin Park world, so be be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook for the latest updates, and join the LPLive Discord for discussion with fans around the world! We just launched the new LPLive Archive YouTube Channel that is loaded with hours of rare content from the Linkin Park world, and we'll also be uploading videos from the Post Traumatic Tour there, too. 4. It goes without saying that mental health is a very important topic for the Linkin Park community. For over a year now, the members of Linkin Park, their families, and the crew have been working hard to ensure the stigma of mental health ends. Talinda Bennington and Anna Shinoda have made several appearances on TV and has even spoken at events across the world. Jim Digby has spoken about mental health on the road. Mike Shinoda is, of course, touring for his therapeutic new album Post Traumatic that documents his own journey through grief. Mike's work doesn't end there; he's speaking today morning on the I'm Listening discussion, where artists and professionals alike will be discussing mental health an trying to put an end to it. The event takes place today - Sunday, August 9 - and starts at 7am CDT. You can listen to it live on their website (ImListening.org). Many guests will be speaking throughout the night: musicians including Jared Leto, Alessia Cara, Bebe Rexha, Charlie Puth, Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, and more will be speaking, as well as professionals including Dr. Chris Nowinski and Dr. Ursula Whiteside. The event will be running all day so if you have the chance to tune in, be sure to. For a taste of what you can expect, check out this clip from Jared Leto's previously-held talk about mental health. Who'll be listening? We'll try to catch up with it on social media and tell you when Mike is on and hopefully link to his part, so be sure to follow us on on Twitter and Facebook for the latest updates, and join the LPLive Discord for discussion with fans around the world.
  5. Considering how much effort it took for us to find them, you might be on a long search for these lol
  6. This is it, folks. After a straight month of touring across both Asia and Europe, Mike's wrapping up the Post Traumatic European Tour tonight in Milan, Italy at the Milano Rocks festival, opening for Thirty Seconds To Mars. And this should be a good one. With the tour coming to an end, it's interesting to look back at the very start of it in Hong Kong and see how far this set has come. The good ol' 20 song setlist we thought would change ever so slightly in order at the beginning of the tour... oh, how silly we were. The next show in Bangkok woke us up a bit, Mike adding in 'Petrified' off the cuff without any warning. And here we are, at the end of the tour, with a completely shaken up set. Not only has the order of the songs shifted wildly, but we've seen a bunch of curveballs throughout the entire tour. The debut of another Post Traumatic song - 'Hold It Together' - mid-tour in Singapore. Mike adding in a piano medley around 'In The End' in Köln, playing piano versions of 'Numb,' 'Heavy,' and 'Burn It Down,' and later on 'Iridescent' (as well as 'Wisdom, Justice, and Love') in Moscow. Mike throwing in other goodies, like 'Until It Breaks' in Köln and playing 'Kenji' by request at the last couple of shows after it became a bit of a rarity in Europe. We lost a few songs along the way ('Place To Start' is amongst the fallen soldiers lost to the changing setlists), but we've seen more than we've lost for sure. At the most recent show in Vienna alone, Mike really brought the surprises. Perhaps he wanted to make the last full headlining show of this run of the tour a memorable one - and he succeeded. 'Welcome' opened the show for the first time since Summer Sonic Osaka, having been replaced by 'Introduction' and 'Petrified' thereafter. Despite Dan not being present (he had flown to Israel to perform at the Meteor Festival with his band TATRAN), Mike delivered a huge setlist, surprising from start to finish. And we're not even talking the minor details, like shortened piano versions of the medley songs, the demo verse making a comeback in 'Sorry For Now,' or changing around the setlist. We're talking about the tour debut of 'In Stereo' mid-set. We're talking about Mike taking not one, not two, but three requests during the encore, all of which were on a poll he posted earlier in the day because he didn't know which one of them to add into the set that night (can we also mention that Mike's original setlist poll back in May included 'In Stereo?' Including those four songs, seven out of eight poll songs were played in Vienna): the tour debuts of the live version of 'Cigarettes' and 'It's Goin' Down,' as well as the return of 'Until It Breaks.' Mike does not hold back when it comes to these sets. A moment we've all been waiting for - Mike performing the 2015 Remix Version of 'Cigarettes' for the first time on tour in Vienna, Austria. Let's hope it becomes a staple for the U.S. Tour! It hasn't been long since Mike was last in Milan - Linkin Park performed there just last year at the I-Days Milano festival in Monza. Not only did this set feature highlights like the 2017 Version of 'Leave Out All The Rest' and 'A Place For My Head,' Mike also brought back the 'Reading My Eyes' verse over the bridge of 'Bleed It Out.' Linkin Park first visited Milan in 2001, opening for the Deftones on their 'Back To School' Tour in the spring before returning for a special MTV Live invite-only event later that year on the Hybrid Theory European Tour. Milan was the very first stop on the Meteora World Tour, featuring the world premieres of songs like 'Lying From You,' 'Faint,' and 'From The Inside,' as well as featuring deep cuts 'Easier To Run' and 'Hit The Floor.' The band didn't return to Milan for awhile, but did perform in the country; after a violent tornado cancelled the Heineken Jammin' performance in Venice in 2007, they returned for a make up show the next year at the same festival in 2008. The band performed in Italy in 2011 on the A Thousand Suns Tour in Imola, performing at Sonisphere Italy. Italy was skipped on the Living Things World Tour due to a lack of a proper European Tour, but the band finally returned to Milan in 2014 on The Hunting Party Tour, performing at Alfa Romeo City Sound. The band returned again on the tour, performing in Rome for the Rock In Roma festival, where they performed 'A Place For My Head' to open the encore, dedicating it to a fan who sadly passed away the day before the show. Will Milan bring the energy once again? Let's go old-school for a second. Watch Linkin Park perform 'With You' in Milan, Italy in 2001 at their exclusive MTV Live performance! Now, if you know me, you know I love me some music. If you know me really well, you'll know that I fuckin' LOVE Thirty Seconds To Mars. So you better believe that I'm writing a damn paragraph or two about 'em. Chances are if you're a fan of Linkin Park post-2007, you know Thirty Seconds To Mars. Linkin Park has toured with them several times, most notably (and recently) during 2014's Carnivores Tour. There were a lot of warranted complaints about their set, but I'm here to tell you it's a whole different ball game now... because it's Europe. MARS is currently amidst their second European Tour of their Monolith Tour in support of their latest album AMERICA. Their current set (see what they played recently in Hannover, Germany) features plenty of tracks from the new album, including singles 'Walk On Water' and 'Rescue Me,' as well as other tracks like 'One Track Mind,' 'Love Is Madness,' and 'Live Like A Dream.' Now, if you're not a fan of the new stuff, that's fair. BUT, be prepared for lots more action. The band has been playing a lot of songs they haven't been doing regularly full band in a couple years on this tour. This includes full band versions of my favorite song ever 'The Kill (Bury Me),' as well as 'From Yesterday' and 'Hurricane.' So you'll be met by a lot of great songs with a lot of energy. Just get ready to sing along. Now, Jared Leto and Mike are great friends. And MARS has been bringing artists onstage to join them for the entire tour. It only makes sense that we see an onstage collaboration happen tonight, especially since we didn't get one during the Carnivores Tour. There's plenty of opportunity for MARS to join Mike and vice verse; Jared could sing during 'In The End' easily - he's said before it's one of his favorite songs. Or, Mike could join MARS onstage, and if you've followed MARS' touring cycle, you'll know there's plenty of possibilities for where that could happen. While artists have joined them for 'Dangerous Night,' what may be more likely is Mike joining for the extended bridge of 'Walk On Water,' where everyone from Travis Scott to Post Traumatic collaborator K.Flay to Brazilian local rapper Projota has performed on. At a soundcheck recently, MARS also performed a mashup of their song 'Hail To The Victor' and 'In The End,' so that could be another potential place where some action happens. What we're saying is, the stars are aligning here. Mike's joined plenty of artists and been joined by some too throughout the tour: Taka from ONE OK ROCK joined him for the 'Waiting For The End' and 'Where'd You Go' mashup at Identity LA and Mike joined ONE OK ROCK for 'One Way Ticket' at Summer Sonic Osaka, Mike joined Sum 41 for their cover of 'Faint' at the Reading and Leeds festivals, and, most recently, Mike brought up a fan named Josie Stickdorn in Offenbach to play acoustic guitar with him. Let's end this tour in a big way. (And, for my own personal desire, get a 30STM setlist on the live guide.) Watch Thirty Seconds To Mars perform 'From Yesterday' recently in Vienna, Austria. Their shows are bigger than they've ever been - don't miss them if you have the chance. This is coming from the guy who saw them three times in June. Trust me. Who's going to the show? While this is the end of the European tour, it's not the end of the Post Traumatic Tour by any means. Mike and the crew are taking a month's break before embarking on an even bigger tour across North America next month as part of the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour, which just added two new dates in Cincinnati and Houston. Plus, we can expect Mike to have tour dates in 2019, as well - perhaps he'll even hit the winter festival circuit, hitting stops such as the KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas. We'll have to wait and find out, I suppose! We'll be keeping you updated on everything that happens at this show, so be be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook for the latest updates, and join the LPLive Discord for discussion with fans around the world (a couple members from the Discord will be at this show - be sure to say hi)! We just launched the new LPLive Archive YouTube Channel that is loaded with hours of rare content from the Linkin Park world, and we'll also be uploading videos from the Post Traumatic Tour there, too. 7. We're almost at the end! But that doesn't mean the Post Traumatic European Tour will be slowing down. Mike's playing the last full headlining show of the tour in Vienna, Austria today at the Arena Open Air Wein. Austria has hosted Mike and Linkin Park for years. They first performed there in 2001 in Vienna, opening for the Deftones on their 'Back To School' Tour in the spring. They returned later on the Hybrid Theory European Tour in the same year to headline at the same venue they opened for the Deftones at, performing 'One Step Closer' with Wes Scantlin from Puddle Of Mudd. The band didn't make it to the country during the Meteora World Tour (though a weird festival appearance in the summer of 2004 in the country was apparently cancelled), but returned on the very first full leg of the Minutes To Midnight Tour, closing the first European run in Nickelsdorf for the NovaRock Festival, which they have played at several times now: 2007, 2011, 2012 (which was shortened due to bad weather), and most recently, in 2017 - Mike's most recent show in Austria. Outside of festivals, the band performed in Graz in 2008, twice on the A Thousand Suns Tour (Linz in 2010 and NovaRock in 2011), and twice on The Hunting Party Tour (Vienna in 2014 and the FM4 Frequency festival in 2015). Linkin Park returned to Austria again and again over the years because the country just keeps on giving, and that's expected to continue. Watch this multicam mix of Linkin Park's performance in Vienna in 2014, featuring fresh The Hunting Party tracks like 'Guilty All The Same' and 'Final Masquerade.' Seeing Mike perform a piano version of the latter would be awesome! Mike's last show was in Offenbach, Germany, and certainly featured some special moments. The 'Petrified' into 'I.O.U.' set returned after being skipped in Stockholm (this version of the set had its debut in Moscow - perhaps it's Mike's "second" set to play in countries he's already been in). This means songs get moved around, like 'Castle Of Glass' in the encore and 'Sorry For Now' and 'Crossing The Line' being played much earlier than usual. Other great moments from the show include the full piano version of 'Heavy' (where Mike messed up the bridge in a funny way) and a surprise 'Kenji' in the encore after requests from fans in the front row. The big surprise of the night was an unexpected one, though: Mike brought up a fan named Josie Stickdorn, a guitarist who posts fingerstyle acoustic guitar covers on her Instagram (check it out)! After seeing her performance of 'Numb' (which you can watch here), Mike gave her the stage and let her perform the track solo with the crowd. He then came back, and then they performed 'In The End' together, the song being performed in its original key for the first time on the tour. It's moments like these when you really see how caring and loving Mike is with the fans. You rarely see special moments like this where an artist will bring up a fan after seeing them play a cover - what a legend. As per usual, we don't really know what to expect at this show. Anything could happen. Surprises have been relatively tame these last few shows, though; aside from the verse one acapella of 'A Place For My Head' in Stockholm, 'Kenji' has been the only real surprise in these sets, entirely due to the fact that it wasn't planned to be performed at any of these shows but was played by request. Mike definitely has a bunch of things up his sleeve; from the soundcheck in Stockholm alone we know 'It's Goin' Down' and 'Cigarettes' are ready to go, and he also teased 'The Catalyst' by playing the strings, too. 'Until It Breaks' has only been performed once on this tour in its entirety, and that was in Köln. Other piano versions of songs are possible, too - Mike randomly whipped out 'Wisdom, Justice, and Love' and 'Iridescent' in Moscow. Maybe because the tour is coming to a close he's easing up on the surprises and is saving some stuff for next month's run - but you never know! Watch Mike perform 'Numb' and 'In The End' with fan Josie Stickdorn in Offenbach! Must be a really amazing moment for her to be apart of the show like that. And she killed it! Is anyone going to the show? After this Mike finally wraps up a month-long run of shows across Asia and Europe with a final opening set for Thirty Seconds To Mars in Milan, Italy tomorrow. There's huge potential for a collaboration (MARS performed a mashup of 'In The End' and 'Hail To The Victor' at a soundcheck in Poland on their current tour), so keep your eyes peeled for that. Mike and the crew will be taking a break for a month after this show, but will return full force with an expansive run across North America on the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour, which just added a stop in Cincinnati. The tour has 23 dates over the course of 39 days - if you thought Mike was keeping us on edge for Europe and Asia, just you wait for this one. We'll be keeping you updated on everything that happens at this show, so be be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook for the latest updates, and join the LPLive Discord for discussion with fans around the world (a couple members from the Discord will be at this show - be sure to say hi)! 8. Scandinavia, you're up next. Mike's Post Traumatic European Tour is heading to the north of Europe next with a stop in Stockholm, Sweden at Berns on September 3, 2018. We already know how insane the Post Traumatic Tour has been so far, and Mike's last two shows in Russia showed exactly why. The two shows had many of the same songs but may as well have been completely different sets. He began in St. Petersburg, bringing back 'Watching As I Fall' for the first show in awhile, while moving 'Hold It Together' and 'Ghosts' further down in the set, the latter of which was now in the encore. Most notably, Mike kept playing the piano medley of Linkin Park singles that he started doing in Köln a few nights prior, singing piano versions of 'Heavy,' 'Burn It Down,' and 'Numb.' At this show, Mike actually played the entirety of 'Numb' as opposed to the just the first verser and chorus! Moscow was a completely different story. Mike completely changed the setlist order from every other show he's played so far, notably performing 'I.O.U.' as the second song and moving 'Castle Of Glass' into the encore. 'Heavy' and 'Burn It Down' were absent, but replaced by something very special. Mike performed an instrumental version of 'Wisdom, Justice, and Love' as well as a shortened piano version of 'Iridescent' for the first time on tour. While 'Iridescent' was played relatively recently (twice in two different ways at the Hollywood Bowl), this was the first time we got 'Wisdom, Justice, and Love' since Singapore 2011, the very last show of the A Thousand Suns Tour. The song also appeared during the Experience Version of 'Castle Of Glass' on the latter half of The Hunting Party Tour. During the song, Mike took the time to talk about the "Wisdom," "Justice," and "Love" flashmob the Russian fans were famous for doing in 2011 at the Transformers 3 Premiere. To top it off, Mike rapped the first verse and chorus of 'Cigarettes' before 'Remember The Name.' 'Cigarettes' is one of the most requested songs that fans want to hear on the tour, so it's nice to see him throw a little bone like that for it. Long story short: Mike absolutely killed it in Russia. Watch Mike's full set from Moscow, Russia, featuring highlights such as the tour debuts of 'Wisdom, Justice, and Love' and 'Iridescent,' as well as a completely reorganized set and a 'Cigarettes' acapella. It hasn't been too long since Mike was last in Sweden. Linkin Park performed at the Bråvalla Festival last year on the One More Light European Tour, a special show which featured the first time Mike rapped 'Petrified' on the tour (funny enough, 'Petrified' is now the main opener song for these sets) and featured Christian Lindskog of Blindside on 'One Step Closer' - the first time he's performed with the band on the song since 2003! Linkin Park took a bit to finally get to Sweden after cancelled performances in the country on both the Hybrid Theory and Meteora tours, but they finally made it in 2007 on the Minutes To Midnight Tour, with an opening set from Thirty Seconds To Mars, who, incidentally, Mike will be opening up for later on the tour. This show is famous for a specific moment: a fan throwing a bra on Mike's mic stand while he spoke about being on the road for the first time in awhile before 'No More Sorrow.' The band unfortunately had to cancel another show in the country the following year due to Brad being sick. This show was at the same festival the band was scheduled to play in 2003 - the Hultsfred festival, making it the first and only festival the band has ever had to cancel multiple appearances at. The band, thankfully, returned without having to cancel in 2011, performing Set B16 for the first time in Europe. What can we expect at this show? Well for one, hopefully it won't be cancelled, since Sweden probably has one of the unluckiest track records in Linkin Park history (besides Winter U.S. Tours, which are always a disaster). Setlist wise, who knows. At this point, we can't predict anything. If you told us Mike would play 'Wisdom, Justice, and Love' on this tour, we would've laughed, but lo and behold, it happened. In a set that was literally changed from the bottom up. Anything is possible at this show, so let us know what you want to see happen. A different set of singles in the piano medley after 'In The End?' Perhaps a full version of 'Cigarettes?' More surprises, like maybe 'It Goes Through' or 'No Roads Left?' The possibilities are endless. We have a discussion up about the songs fans want to see most on this tour, and slowly but surely the requests are being knocked out one by one... and we can only expect that to continue. A classic video on the LP scene, a fan (with incredible aim) throwing a bra onto Mike's micstand while he talks at the band's concert in Stockholm in 2007. Who's going to the show? The tour's winding down, with headlining shows in Germany and Austria left before Mike opens up for Thirty Seconds To Mars in Italy. Keep an eye out for that show, because a collaboration is seemingly likely! After a well-deserved month's break, Mike will return for an extensive North American run on the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour. We'll be keeping you updated on everything that happens at this show, so be be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook for the latest updates, and join the LPLive Discord for discussion with fans around the world! 9. Happy September, everyone! What shall the new month bring? Some more Mike Shinoda shows! The Post Traumatic European Tour is half through, but it isn't slowing down. Mike's returning to Russia for a second show, this time in Moscow at the Adrenaline Stadium. Mike's keeping the tour going strong. St. Petersburg showed Mike that Russia is ready to deliver some great shows with great crowds. Mike continued to change up the setlist, bringing back 'Watching As I Fall' for the first time since Singapore, moving 'Hold It Together' down into the set, and moving 'Ghosts' up into the encore. Those weren't the biggest surprises, though. After performing it for the first time in Köln, Mike brought back the slew of piano versions of tracks has was playing - 'Heavy,' 'Burn It Down,' and 'Numb.' However, there was a special twist - Mike performed all of 'Numb' at this show rather than just the first verse and chorus. This part of the show seems to be a staple now, and we love it. Watch Mike perform the full piano version of 'Numb' in St. Petersburg, Russia. The crowd sings a majority of it, Hollywood Bowl style. Mike was last in Moscow in 2015, at the end of Linkin Park's The Hunting Party Tour. Previously before that, Mike visited St. Petersburg in 2014 at the very start of The Hunting Party Tour, featuring tracks like the rare full version of 'Until It's Gone' and a full band 'A Light That Never Comes.' The band's first time in Moscow was in 2007, which was the second show they had ever played in Russia. After that, the band returned in 2011 for the very special Transformers 3 Premiere, playing the Moscow Intro to 'New Divide' for the first time (of two total performances) and the only performance of the Energy Up Version of 'Iridescent.' The only other performance was in 2012 on the Living Things Tour, which had a powerful set beginning with 'A Place For My Head.' Watch Linkin Park open their show in Moscow in 2011 with a special performance of the Moscow Intro before 'New Divide.' Who's going to the show? Mike continues with his tour for another week after this show, hitting Sweden, Germany, and Austria before ending it off with an opening set for 'Thirty Seconds To Mars, who seem to be prepping for an onstage collaboration (the band performed a mashup of 'In The End' and their song 'Hail To The Victor' at a recent soundcheck), so that'd be a great way to take out the tour. We'll be keeping you updated on everything that happens at this show, so be be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook for the latest updates, and join the LPLive Discord for discussion with fans around the world! We just launched the new LPLive Archive YouTube Channel that is loaded with hours of rare content from the Linkin Park world, and we'll also be uploading videos from the Post Traumatic Tour there, too. 10. Team, I'll be real with you hear. This tour is genuinely the one we at LPLive have dreamed about. We could've never imagined something as fantastic as the Post Traumatic Tour, but it's happening, and it's showing no signs of slowing down. Mike's continuing along with the Post Traumatic European Tour with the second headlining show of the tour (and half-way point of it) with the first of two shows in Russia, kicking things off in St. Petersburg at the A2 Green Concert on August 31, 2018. Before we get into anything else, let's talk about Köln. Mike's set a precedent for changing the setlist at every stop of the tour, delivering a unique show at literally every show he's played so far. Even shows that had the same setlist - Summer Sonic Tokyo and Rock En Seine - had their differences (namely, the chorus of 'Good Goodbye' being sung at Reading versus the chorus of 'Bleed It Out' during the mashup of the two). But Köln was something special, and even Mike knew that. After the show ended, he tweeted about the experience, describing it with one simple word: "Wowzers." Fans truly gave their all, camping out in front of the venue - in the rain no less - and singing every single word of every single song throughout the entire night. We've seen some really incredible shows this cycle, but Köln might just be at the very top of the scale now. The crowd gave their all, and so did Mike. Expected numbers that were amplified by the energy in the room include 'Hold It Together,' being performed for the second time ever after its debut in Singapore, and the powerful run of 'About You,' 'Over Again,' and 'Papercut.' That's not all, though. Mike changed up the setlist a bit, moving 'When They Come For Me,' 'Roads Untraveled,' and 'Hold It Together' up closer to the start of the set, as well as adding 'Ghosts' back in to close the main set (it's the first time we've seen the song in a minute, too - this was the first performance of it since Chengdu, China). What was most special about the show were Mike's surprises, that shook the whole fanbase up. After the already emotional 'In The End,' which was preceded by an incredibly powerful flashmob where fans held up signs that said "YOU #MakeChesterProud," Mike stopped after the second chorus to take a chance and try something special. What came next? Mike singing the first verse and chorus of 'Heavy' for the first time. He continued with a verse and chorus of 'Burn It Down,' before ending this special moment off with the first ever piano version of 'Numb,' where he let the crowd take the lead. Seeing him perform these three songs is an incredible thing. It's almost like a moment of redemption - he's taken some of these signature songs and finally said "You know what? I think I can do this." He may also be ready to tackle these tracks when Linkin Park return one day, as well. He's really assumed the role of frontman, absolutely taking over the stage at these shows, even starting to move like Chester did in some ways. That was a redemptive performance for certain, and we'd love to see it happen at every show - maybe even switch up what songs you play there! There's opportunity and emotions to be had. Even with those incredible additions, the surprises didn't end - Mike performed an electrifying version of 'Until It Breaks' for the first time on tour, being the first time since he played as Fort Minor in 2015 that the song has been performed in full like that. Watch the incredibly emotional run of 'In The End,' 'Heavy,' 'Burn It Down,' and 'Numb' in Köln, Germany. We'd absolutely love for this to be a normal part of the set - the fanbase hasn't loved something so much since... since, well, Post Traumatic came out, I guess! It's been a minute since Mike's been in Russia, so the fans will definitely have some of that same energy Germany did. The band didn't get the chance to visit Russia on the One More Light European Tour last summer, which means the last time they were in Russia was in 2015 on the final leg of The Hunting Party Tour. Linkin Park performed in St. Petersburg last in 2014 at the very start of The Hunting Party Tour, being the very first headlining show they performed of the cycle. Before that, the band closed the only European Tour on the Living Things tour in 2012. Linkin Park's performance at the Tuborg Greenfest in 2007 in St. Petersburg was the first time the band played a show in Russia. They returned to the festival again in 2009, at the end of the Minutes To Midnight cycle as they toured for 'New Divide.' This show was the first time Mike rapped the first verse of 'Hands Held High' before continuing it into the 'KRWLNG' intro of 'Crawling.' At this point, any attempt at predicting the set is useless. We have no idea what's going to happen. THREE potential openers ('Welcome,' 'Petrified,' and 'When They Come For Me,' which would've been the opener at Leeds), so many variable parts of the set (is the piano medley here to stay? Will he change up the songs he plays if it does? Will he add another random song to the set? Bring back an older one he hasn't played in a bit?)... there's so many questions we have that won't be answered until the show happens. And that's how we like it. Being surprised is the best part of this tour, and the community is definitely loving it, too. Everyone's on the edge of their seat to see what Mike does with the set next, and there hasn't been this much love for a tour in a long time. Mike, you're playing all your cards right with this one. We've been discussing potential songs he could add to the set in a different discussion - if you have any input, feel free to post it! Watch Linkin Park's epic show at the Tuborg Greenfest in 2009, featuring a huge set with a bunch of epic moments like 'Hands Held High' going into 'KRWLNG' and the AMBO Intro to 'What I've Done.' Is anyone going to the show? Mike's next stop will be in Moscow, before heading off into the rest of Europe for shows in Sweden, Germany, and Austria before ending the tour with an opening set for Thirty Seconds To Mars in Italy. Keep your eyes peeled for that one - Thirty Seconds To Mars performed part of 'In The End' as a mashup with their track 'Hail To The Victor' at a soundcheck in Poland, and love to have guests onstage (usually during an extended bridge for 'Walk On Water'), so a collaboration may be in the works. We'll keep you updated on that one... But after that, Mike and the crew will have a month's break before continuing the tour with an extensive venture across North America in the fall on the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour. Be sure to subscribe! Check out the rest of Mike Shinoda's touring schedule here.
