I do agree there are too many pinned topics. We have a plan for this in 5.0 and we will get them unpinned when we launch

Part Of Me was never played live as far as we know. It was rehearsed or almost rehearsed in 2001. Mike mentioned before the Sept Europe shows they were rehearsing HTEP songs to play. And then there is that other interview about them wanting to stick Carousel in a setlist in 2001. But we have never heard of Part Of Me being played. Someone asked Phoenix at the Pinkpop 2007 M&G about those two songs and I think he said he didn't remember if they ever played them or not.
-
Haha no. 10 Years have played overseas before. They headlined some small shows in Australia in 2005. They also played festivals in Europe in 2005, including a few shows with Tool (or APC). Germany was included. Download 05, or whatever year Jon Davis didn't sing with them, Jesse came out and sang a song of theirs as a guest during their set. There are YouTube videos. And finally they were at Summer Sonic 06 with LP. 2010, South America and then Russia recently. This is far from their first international run haha. They'll add some headline shows too.
-
I just saw this. No idea how I didn't see it last year. Where the fuck did all those interviews go that the band gave for this? They could have compiled those with the studio stuff and made an hour DVD to go with the album. Damn.

My top 3 most wanted are Reading My Eyes, P5hng Me A*wy and Figure.09, in that order. The amount of love for P5hng is really surprising to me. I'd like to see Valentine's Day someday live but there's probably no chance it will be brought back. A lot of these songs I don't think they'll ever play again. Pushing Me Away, I agree, has the best chance at being brought back. I think No More Sorrow will return in 2014. I really enjoyed TLTGYA when I saw it. I haven't seen anything above the last 7 in the top list.

Hell yeah. This one is my favorite:

This is a list of every Linkin Park song that has been played live consistently at some point, that is "waiting to be liberated" (aka not played in a while). For a list of what is NOT included in this list (like the Iridescent (Energy Up Version)) click here. We took a poll of this exact list of songs in February to see what songs fans wanted to see brought back the MOST and the top songs (in order) were: Figure.09, P5hng Me A*wy, Don't Stay, Reading My Eyes and Easier To Run. Honorable mentions that all had three digit vote numbers include And One, High Voltage (Reprise Version), By Myself, The Little Things Give You Away, Wretches & Kings and No More Sorrow. Luckily, the number one song, High Voltage (Reprise Version), has a proshot video of the last time it was ever played - at 2001's headline show at London's Docklands Arena. We released a full DVD of that show last year, which you can get here. Just click play above to view what's considered one of the most badass live performances by the band ever. As some people would say....they "fuckin' nailed it." List of songs waiting to be liberated: (in order, including the date last played) High Voltage (Reprise Version) (Last played Sept 16, 2001) And One (Last played Feb 5, 2002) Forgotten (Last played Feb 24, 2002) Step Up (Last played March 2, 2002 / last played in 2004 medley on Sept 11, 2004) Hit The Floor (Last played April 26, 2003) Easier To Run (Last played April 26, 2003) By Myself (Last played Oct 29, 2003) Figure.09 (Last played Sept 11, 2004) A.06 (Last played Sept 5, 2004) (Only played a few times) Nobody's Listening (Last played March 15, 2004 / last played in the 2004 medley on Sept 11, 2004) It's Goin' Down (Last played March 15, 2004 / last played in the 2004 medley on Sept 11, 2004) My December (Last played March 15, 2004 / piano version played in 2006 and early 2008) P5hng Me A*wy (Last played March 15, 2004) QWERTY (Last played Aug 21, 2007 / Mashed up with VICTIMIZED in 2012-2013) Hands Held High (Last played March 7, 2008 / Mike rapped both verses on PR08 and in 2009) In Between (Last played March 10, 2008) Reading My Eyes (Last played June 25, 2008) Valentine's Day (Last played June 27, 2008) Pushing Me Away (Last played Aug 21, 2008) Don't Stay (Last played Aug 24, 2008) In Pieces (Last played Aug 24, 2008) Wake (Last played March 22, 2008) / Wake 2.0 (Last played Aug 24, 2008) The Little Things Give You Away (Last played Aug 23, 2008) Session (Last played August 22, 2009) The Radiance (Last played Sept 14, 2010) We do not consider songs "waiting to be liberated" if they were performed on the last world tour, but this is a list of all songs performed on the A Thousand Suns World Tour that were not performed on the LIVING THINGS World Tour. Leave Out All The Rest (Last played Jan 25, 2011 / In a medley in 2012-2013) Wretches And Kings (Last played Feb 28, 2011) Cure For The Itch (Last played Aug 30, 2011) The Messenger (Last played Aug 31, 2011) The Requiem (Last played Sept 23, 2011) Burning In The Skies (Last played Sept 23, 2011) Shadow Of The Day (Last played Sept 25, 2011 / In a medley in 2012-2013) Iridescent (Last played Sept 25, 2011 / In a medley in 2012-2013) Jornada Del Muerto (Last played Sept 25, 2011) Wisdom, Justice, And Love (Last played Sept 25, 2011) Fallout (Last played Sept 25, 2011) No More Sorrow (Last played Sept 25, 2011) What songs would you like to see on this list played live next tour? In contrast, what songs would you NOT like to see brought back? Do you think the band will ever bring anything near the top of the list back?

Yeah I do count LFY as a single, but I do agree with you. Maybe like a "half single" haha. I remember when before PR04 the song got so big with fans that the label/band were forced to release it to radio and put a video out for it. Huge song and it's still on rock radio a lot. When I was in Atlanta for a year or so I actually heard New Divide and Lying From You more than any other LP song on the radio. -

I didn't include Points Of Authority because it had a music video and technically was a promo single in Europe. -
Nothing really. Check the comment I put in the liberation thread about NRL, but you have it right in this thread too. NRL was for Europe 08 and PR08.

Yep I would agree that the two most popular non singles are No More Sorrow and A Place For My Head. Most all fans know those two songs. A good bit know With You too. -
Sean said it was worked up as an alternative to We Made It. We Made It debuted in late May (before the European Tour) at Third Encore. Obviously it was planned to be in at least one European Tour setlist. I wouldn't even be surprised if it was in one of the setlists in the picture on this page: http://lplive.net/shows/20080529.php Two of the setlists had Pushing Me Away studio version and one had the piano version. The one that had the piano version opened the encore. That's the same area We Made It was in. The general consensus by the staff here is that NRL was originally planned to go in the encore 1 spot so the encore would go No Roads Left, What I've Done, Faint. The band later said it didn't sound right live (NRL), so instead of PMA studio in 3 setlists, they varied it up with the piano version in one of them and the studio version in one setlist. The surprising thing to me is that when We Made It was dropped on PR08, they didn't add in anything else in its place. APFMH wasn't even considered I don't think (from what I heard during that time).

If they drop APFMH in 2014 that will be very disappointing. I can understand Papercut I guess since it's only missed one year ever (2009) and they might be tired of it, even though Chester says it's his all time favorite Linkin Park song (mine too). But APFMH...the energy is so visible from the band on it. Even Joe is getting into it. I hope it stays. -
I am jealous of those who saw Valentine's Day. I'll update the list with Reading My Eyes. I won't add the LP/JZ songs since they obviously are only performed with a guest. I would also like to see Blackout and Burning In The Skies. I saw them rehearsed several times but I'd like to see them in a setlist. Wow, that's awesome. I will always remember this show in Hannover getting one of the best receptions of a setlist by the fanbase. There are always those "first shows back" where people either love or hate the setlist, or LP plays an average one. The Hannover show easily had the best overall response to a setlist online that I've ever seen. What I've Done opening, Valentine's Day debut, My December piano version was in a setlist after KROQ AAC 2007, the band used two encores for the first time ever, and after fans had been asking at M&Gs for ALL of 2007....APFMH returned. And it closed with OSC again. People LOVED it. I started following each show since MFR 2005 online (and a good bit of the 2003/2004 tours via the LPMB)...the only other time I've seen people go about as crazy as they did for Hannover was the Tokyo Zepp 2006 setlist. QWERTY, Reading My Eyes, etc, but a lot of people were like WTF at the encore and OSC not closing. Other highlights were the start of PR07 with the three rotating setlists, the start of the Euro Summer Tour in 2008 when RME returned and the epic epic encore of CFTI/APFMH/Faint/OSC came in. Now we know that the encore where PMA piano was, was likely a spot for No Roads Left....
-
We forgot CFTI and Session...added both. Session instantly goes to number one, wow. Of these, I have seen: 2007: Papercut, Points Of Authority, Somewhere I Belong, From The Inside 2008: Pushing Me Away (studio version), Cure For The Itch 2009: Session 2012: A Place For My Head, With You The only ones I am missing are Runaway, which I was sure I was going to see in 2012 but it was dropped before the Honda Civic Tour, and My December (Piano Version), which I missed at Nashville 2008 because I was sick. Took me like 18 shows to see APFMH and I got it on 19. Too good of a song for some number like that to happen to someone, haha. Each tour I thought it was coming back..... I really hope they keep it next year.
-
And they both were each on a setlist for this show in the place of No More Sorrow. Still need to add the set with the SIB pic to the show page.

We decided to compose a list of the ten biggest "liberations" the band has done in their career. These are as of August 22, 2013. If you have any you'd like to add that are missing here, reply with a comment! We did not include 'Step Up', 'Nobody's Listening', or 'It's Goin' Down' because while they were partially liberated, they were played in a medley in 2004. As you can see, there are only four songs brought back after five years and only two other songs brought back after 3 years. Two of those are instrumentals - Session and Cure For The Itch, and Session was never played in full. There are three additional ones brought back after 2 years. We also included a few under 2 years just to show that there really aren't many liberations left for the band that are lengthy. Understanding the band's touring breaks is crucial to understanding this list. For example, Papercut missed only one tour, the Summer Tour in 2009, before it returned in 2010. However, all songs above Papercut missed at least one full touring cycle. Points Of Authority and Somewhere I Belong, for example, both missed the entire A Thousand Suns World Tour (despite both being on leaked setlists for the London 2010 night 2 show). Coming in at number two, Pushing Me Away missed the Meteora touring cycle and returned near the end of the Minutes To Midnight touring cycle. With You missed the entire Minutes To Midnight and A Thousand Suns touring cycles and came back at the start of the LIVING THINGS World Tour. Session: 2342 days (6y 3m 2d) (March 25, 2003 - August 22, 2009) Pushing Me Away (studio version): 2289 days (6y 3m 5d) (March 2, 2002 - June 7, 2008) With You: 2103 days (5y 9m 3d) (August 15, 2006 - May 18, 2012) Runaway: 1839 days (5y 12d) (May 6, 2007 - May 18, 2012) A Place For My Head: 1222 days (3y 4m 5d) (September 11, 2004 - January 16, 2008) Cure For The Itch: 1101 days (3y 6d) (August 24, 2008 - August 30, 2011) Points Of Authority: 1000 days (2y 8m 2d) (August 22, 2009 - May 18, 2012) Somewhere I Belong: 1000 days (2y 8m 2d) (August 22, 2009 - May 18, 2012) Papercut: 774 days (2y 1m 13d) (August 24, 2008 - October 7, 2010) A few songs liberated in under two years... Reading My Eyes: 665 days (1y 9m 26d) (August 15, 2006 - June 05, 2008) A Place For My Head: 579 days (1y 7m 1d) (October 25, 2010 - May 26, 2012) My December (Piano Version): 480 days (1y 3m 23d) (August 15, 2006 - December 8, 2007) From The Inside: 446 days (1y 2m 20d) (August 22, 2009 - November 11, 2010) After these, there is Leave Out All The Rest and By Myself...which aren't much at all. Leave Out All The Rest for example is 431 days (1y 2m 5d) (August 22, 2009 - October 27, 2010). Next up this week, we'll have a list of songs that have NOT made a comeback and haven't been played in quite some time! Have you been lucky enough to see any of these songs live over the years? What would you like to see from this list brought back for the next touring cycle in 2014?
-
From LT, I'd like to see POWERLESS. You'd take Iridescent over WTCFM? And Don't Stay over Figure.09?
-
Thanks for the info. I fixed the main post. The From The Inside video is sick. Wish I was able to see that one more often this year. The 2007, 2008 and 2009 performances I saw of it were soooo good. Session, Given Up, From The Inside was an awesome start in 2009.
-
Haha no we wouldn't say that. Post it and send us a link because I'd love to see it. I missed some stuff so I'm sure you'd make some points I missed. Or take this one and improve on it

Years ago, we used to write a tour wrapup for every tour that Linkin Park did. For instance, we'd cover a European Tour right afterwards, etc, but with the shortened cycle for LIVING THINGS, we will be shifting to a new format that will allow us to do a collective touring cycle wrapup when the band is done touring for an album. So with that in mind, here's what we have for you for LIVING THINGS: THINGS YOU MIGHT KNOW: - Lasting just sixteen months, the LIVING THINGS World Tour clocks in as the second shortest tour for an album by Linkin Park. While most touring cycles for an LP album last on average 2-3 years, only the A Thousand Suns World Tour, which lasted for just one calendar year (12 months), clocks in as a shorter touring cycle for the band. - There was no full European Tour for this album, which is the first time the band has not done a headlining tour as well as a festival tour in Europe on an album tour. This means this is the first touring cycle that didn't have at least one show in England, a popular place for Linkin Park. - The band had reliably played every song on their major albums (Hybrid Theory, Meteora, and Minutes To Midnight) until the A Thousand Suns World Tour (2010-2011). 'Robot Boy' was the sole song not performed on that album. With LIVING THINGS, the band did not perform 'I'LL BE GONE', 'ROADS UNTRAVELED', 'SKIN TO BONE', a full version of 'UNTIL IT BREAKS', or 'POWERLESS' at all on the touring cycle. THINGS YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW: - Linkin Park performed their first two shows in South Africa ever, playing Cape Town (with the 7th LPU Summit) and Johannesburg in November 2012. Over 63,500 fans were in attendance at the Johannesburg show. Also, the band performed in Romania and Ukraine for the first time in June 2012. - The band returned to a few places in the world for the first time in quite a while. Their two shows in Mexico (Mexico City and Monterrey) were their first shows since a one-off (and their only other) show in Mexico in 2002. The Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia show was their first there since 2003 and their Manila, Philippines show was their first since 2004. Additionally, New Zealand was given LPU Summit #8 in February 2013, their first show in the country since October 2007 (after two "rumored" shows didn't end up happening in 2010). - A European Tour was scheduled for fall 2012, with a *rumored* EIGHT shows in Germany alone. This likely would have included a stop in England as well. It is unknown why the band did not play the tour or reschedule it for another time. THINGS THAT WEREN'T SURPRISING: - Mike brought back verse one of 'Reading My Eyes' over the bridge of 'Bleed It Out' at the Sunset Strip Music Festival show for the first time since the summer of 2011. While this was not a surprise to anyone, it was one of the only disappointments of the touring cycle as many fans were hoping the band would play the full song. This verse was the only "throwback" part of the setlist for the show. - Singles dominated the setlists once again, which of course is no surprise to anyone, with some shows having 14 singles in a row to close the show. However, the band appeased hardcore fans by adding a few fan favorite non-singles to the setlists (mentioned below). - The new songs sounded good live. For the songs that they performed, it is pretty much agreed that they all came off very well live (with perhaps the only exception being 'LIES GREED MISERY'). - The band's energy was much stronger on stage than the previous world tour (A Thousand Suns). Likely because some heavier songs returned to the setlist and some of the newer songs are heavier, the band was visibly much more energetic in 2012 and 2013 than previous years. THINGS THAT SURPRISED US: - The beginning of this touring cycle was the longest touring cycle in Linkin Park history for more than two (2) new songs (or three (3) including instrumentals like 'TINFOIL', 'Cure For The Itch', or 'Session') to be performed live. Performing just one full warmup show before their European Tour in 2012 (at the House of Blues in Los Angeles), the band performed 'BURN IT DOWN' at that show and added only 'LIES GREED MISERY' to the setlist for Europe. It wasn't until the Honda Civic Tour, 13 full shows after the start of the touring cycle, that more songs were performed. - Not being performed since August 15, 2006 in Japan, 'With You' was resurrected on May 18, 2012 in Los Angeles. This currently stands as the biggest "liberation" in Linkin Park history (meaning it is now the song with the longest time between performances....almost six years). EDIT: Astat adds, "Disregarding the Reanimation and piano versions, the original version of Pushing Me Away was actually longer." 'Pushing Me Away' was not played from 2002 until 2008, but the remix P5hng Me A*wy was played from 2003-2004 and the piano version of it was played from 2006 to 2008. This makes the studio version of 'Pushing Me Away' the biggest "liberation" and 'With You' follows it as a close second. - There were no collaborations between Linkin Park and Incubus until almost the end of the Honda Civic Tour. While Mike Einziger laid down a few great guitar solos on 'Bleed It Out' near the end of the tour, we were surprised that Chester did not join Incubus for a song and Brandon did not join Linkin Park for a song, like Linkin Park and Chris Cornell did on Projekt Revolution 2008. - One of the setlists on the touring cycle completely disappeared after three months. Set C, which debuted on the Honda Civic Tour, and featured 'With You' opening, went away after being played in Brazil in October 2012. With this set going away, 'When They Come For Me' and 'IN MY REMAINS' also disappeared from the setlists, making 'IN MY REMAINS' a song that lasted just two months live before being retired for the rest of the tour. SONG HIGHLIGHTS: - The fan favorite (and Chester favorite) 'A Place For My Head' returned to the stage again, after sitting out 2008-2012 with the exception of the Hybrid Theory 10th Anniversary show in Paris in 2010. At the first show in Europe in 2012 (Rock in Rio in Lisbon), the song opened a show for the first time since June 2001, making one hell of a comeback! It was featured in both the European "festival" setlist as well as in "Set B" throughout the rest of the touring cycle. It is the first time the song has ONLY been played as the first song of a set as well. - In a tribute to the Beastie Boys, the band performed part of 'Sabotage' over the bridge of 'Bleed It Out' from May 2012 until November 2012. This bridge goes down to the growing list of what has been featured on the song. Mike Einziger from Incubus joined the band for a few shows at the end of the Honda Civic Tour to play a guitar solo on the bridge as well. Nice! - 'QWERTY', a song only played a handful of times in 2006 and 2007, made an appearance for the first time since 2007 with a portion of it being added to the bridge of 'VICTIMIZED'. - Another fan favorite, 'Blackout', returned to the main headlining setlist in May 2012, but was retired before the Honda Civic Tour (likely because of 'VICTIMIZED (w/ QWERTY)' being added to the setlist. 'Runaway' (last performed at Bamboozle 2007) was played in Europe along with 'From The Inside', 'Somewhere I Belong' and 'Points Of Authority' (the latter two being played for the first time since 2009) coming in May 2012, just before Europe. Lastly, 'When They Come For Me' made a return on the Honda Civic Tour and lasted until October. While 'From The Inside', 'Blackout', and 'Runaway' didn't last past June, it is still significant to note that they were played several times on the touring cycle. WHAT TO LOOK FORWARD TO: - Mike's tweets on August 18th are something to keep an eye on. While rumors spread that 'SKIN TO BONE' was an impossible song to play, Mike said, "Actually, not "impossible" to play, just not ideal with the current setup. Not going to happen on this tour though." He added, "Our setlist is a complicated matter. Let's just say that I'm personally willing to play any song, and play a longer set." Be on the lookout in 2014 as the band very well might play more songs off of LIVING THINGS. - More countries, more cities and more fans. The band continued to play in familiar areas, brand new areas, and make comebacks in other areas, so be on the lookout for where the band heads next year. The LPU Summits are expanding more and more, with the Hong Kong Summit being added to the growing list that includes London, Sydney, Chicago, Hamburg, Tokyo, Camden, Cape Town, and Auckland. - While Linkin Park takes a break to record their new album, Stone Temple Pilots (with Chester) will start touring in early September, so we will be covering those shows as length as well. What did you think of the touring cycle? What are some of your highlights? What did not like or not like about the tours? Are you excited for the next tour?
-
There really is a longer version of Technique? Got a link to it? Are you sure it's not just the Technique instrumental or something made longer by Fiore?
-
Holy autotune on Chester. Not a fan. Or vocal effect. Something. Whatever is on his voice at 0:29 makes him sound like a robot. Damn. My problem with LP Recharge is...what the hell happened to 8 Bit Rebellion? The band promised all these updates and upgrades, new stuff in the game, etc and nothing ever happened. And now here's another game. They were SO adamant on "oh yeah get 8BR...there's a song in it and we'll be working on updates for it for quite a while to come." I wonder if dubstep stuff like this is the direction of the music after LIVING THINGS.

It's been done for years but it'll be in 5.0 when it launches this year.
