  1. I replied to this on Pooch's Facebook and had this to say: "Interesting points and a great article. Owen Pallett from Arcade Fire was on the last Linkin Park album, even further proving Mike's point, and they're doing the song with Steve Aoki. I think the last great collaborations on a rock album I have heard are from Foo Fighters. Dave Grohl is a very smart musician and really impressed me by bringing in Bob Mould, Pat Smear, Krist Novoselic and Fee Waybill on the last album, as well as some of the Foo live touring members. Plus they went with Butch Vig again and recorded it to analog. Overall, rock isn't experimenting nearly enough with sound (so many albums sound the same...) or with guests. How many guests did Yeezus by Kanye have? It seems like over 10. I like how Amir commented here because he gets it too. Julien-K has Eric from Decode Radio on one of their awesome new songs as well as some other solid guests. It's not all about the guests of course but changing things up (whether musically or just by bringing friends on board with you) is a much welcomed breath of fresh air for avid music fans."
  2. The fifth show of the Stone Temple Pilots USA Tour takes them to The Paramount in Huntington, New York, where the band will play with Filter. This is currently the only announced show in the state of New York for the band in 2013, so we expect it to be sold out or close to it. At the last show in Boston, the band continued with their same 17 song setlist and had Richard Patrick from Filter join them on 'Piece Of Pie' again. We aren't sure when we will start to see more new songs pop up, but we hope they'll bring in one or two new ones before the end of the tour. After this show, the band has two days off before picking up in Oklahoma City. They will open for Mötley Crüe there before headlining a show in Newkirk, Oklahoma and then heading back to the east coast in Florida. For all of the STP tour dates for 2013 and setlists from this tour, click here. SETLIST: 01. Down 02. Big Bang Baby 03. Vasoline 04. Dead & Bloated 05. Out Of Time 06. Silvergun Superman 07. Church On Tuesday (Guitar Solo Ending) 08. Big Empty 09. Sour Girl (2008 Guitar Solo Version) 10. Interstate Love Song 11. Pop's Love Suicide (2013 New Ending) 12. Hollywood Bitch 13. Sex Type Thing 14. Sex And Violence ---------------------------------------------------- 15. Wicked Garden 16. Piece Of Pie (w/ Richard Patrick of Filter and Army Of Anyone) 17. Trippin' On A Hole In A Paper Heart
  3. They will be playing the festival in Jacksonville that shares the same lineup. I will definitely be at this show.
  4. Way back in June 2011, Mike posted a video and an article on his blog (read it here) about a band from San Francisco, CA named Beta State. This band approached Chester at the Mountain View, CA BFD 2011 show (show page here) and handed him an iPod Touch with their music and videos already loaded on it. Mike wrote about the experience on his blog and the band gained some attention from the Linkin Park community because of it. Fast forward to present day. Beta State apparently took it upon themselves to enter a song ('When I'm Too Weak To Know') in the LPU Sessions contest. Winners were announced today and along with Ryan Giles, Beta State has won the contest! "Beyond sharing our music and art with the LP community at large, we relish opportunities to empower our fans to share their many talents with us. We’re excited to announce we will continue that tradition through the LPU Sessions, a one of a kind collaborative music-making project," says LP guitarist Brad Delson. Beta State has won themselves an opportunity to travel to Los Angeles to record with Linkin Park in early October, just after the end of the Stone Temple Pilots tour. It seems that their hard work has really paid off. Our friend Kathy, who was at the Mountain View show in 2011, added, "I was camping out on the lawn when this person with a big Beta State sign with their name, their showtime and their neat feathered elephant-thing came walking out around the venue. It just got my attention so well that I wanted to check them out. They absolutely know what they're doing, and stuff like that shows it. You’re more believable as a band when you look like you know what you're doing." Check the band's website out here and their Twitter page here. Congratulations to Beta State and we hope to hear the song you work on with Linkin Park on the upcoming LPU 13 album!
  5. Stone Temple Pilots play their fourth show of the eleven show tour on September 9th at Boston's House Of Blues, right next to the legendary Fenway Park. This will mark STP's first show in the Boston area since September of 2010, roughly three years ago and their first show at the House Of Blues there as far as we know. So far, the band has stuck to the same setlist for the first three shows of the tour and we're not complaining because they are kicking ass. Fans are proving to be very supportive of the new STP lineup and are loving Chester nailing the songs. At the last show in Atlantic City (show page here), Richard Patrick from Filter and Army Of Anyone joined the band for 'Piece Of Pie'. Will this collaboration continue throughout the tour? With their new EP being released on October 8th, it is expected that the band will add another new song or two to their live setlist later in the tour. 'Black Heart' has been rehearsed as far as we know and Chester even hinted at a few other STP classics that they were rehearsing. After this show, the band plays in Huntington, NY on the 10th before flying to Oklahoma City on the 13th to open for Motley Crue. After two shows in Oklahoma, the tour moves back to the east coast where they begin again in Florida. For the full 2013 tour schedule for STP, including setlists for all shows they've played so far with Chester, click here.
  6. Great find Jen! I just tweeted about it. That's awesome. I knew I had heard the name before. Talk about a dream come true.
  7. Stone Temple Pilots have added a show on December 7th at St. Petersburg, FL's Vinoy Park, where they will be headlining 97X's Next Big Thing 2013 show. Previous held at Tampa's MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre at the Florida State Fairgrounds, aka the old Ford Amphitheatre (who the fuck comes up with these venue names?), the festival was moved to Vinoy Park last year for a more festive atmosphere. On the bill for 2013, they have lined up: Stone Temple Pilots, Manchester Orchestra, Frank Turner, Sleeping With Sirens, Jimmy Eat World, Saints Of Valory, The 1975, The Dirty Heads and at least one more band to be announced at a later time. This should make Chester happy at least, because he is pretty vocal for his huge liking of Manchester Orchestra, a band that he's wanted to have tour with Linkin Park for a while. Anyway, tickets start at $25 and will slowly rise to $80 (wow) until the day of the show. This will be STP's fourth show in Florida in 2013, joining Sunrise, Lake Buena Vista and Fort Myers (less than two hours north). There is a Biloxi, Mississippi show on November 1st as well, so we are expecting to see more shows for the band announced soon that will join these solo November and December shows. EDIT: Stone Temple Pilots will also play the X102.9's Big Ticket 2013 show at Metropolitan Park in Jacksonville, FL on December 8th, the day after the St. Petersburg show. Last year, both festivals shared identical lineups. Also at this show will be 30 Seconds To Mars, A Day To Remember, Jimmy Eat World, Dirty Heads, Pepper, Manchester Orchestra, twentyonepilots, Sleeping With Sirens, The 1975, Saints Of Valory and more. Tickets start at $19.50 and will slowly rise to $44.50 by the show day.
  8. Links to their submissions?
  9. Yeah the music video is Numb/Encore from the first take but the DVD is the entire second take. That's how I always looked at it.
  10. Do we have a list of all the Reanimation guests anywhere and where they are from? For example I have no idea who Mickey P is, lol
  11. I knew it'd do that Sorry. If we ever get it I promise we'll release it here ASAP. Stuff like this has happened before so we can at least ask around about it. For example I randomly was sent the full 'State Of The Art' by DJ Lethal in a PM. It was the same file he uploaded to his MySpace account for a little bit but then took it down, so apparently no one had it. Hopefully we get it someday. I think Pictureboard will be released in the next 3 years though.
  12. Easily being one of the most sought after unreleased songs in the Linkin Park community, it appears that the Team Sleep remix of 'My December' will likely never see the light of day. In 2001, Chino Moreno's (the lead singer of Deftones) side project Team Sleep were given 'My December' to remix by Linkin Park for possible inclusion on Reanimation. Not officially releasing any music until years after Reanimation came out, this remix is likely one of the first pieces of music that Team Sleep ever worked on. The remix by Mickey P. (featuring Kelli Ali), heard above, made the album in place of the Team Sleep remix of 'My December'. However, this is arguably one of the best remixes ever done of a Linkin Park song. Several artists that worked on the album reportedly remixed a few songs, including The Crystal Method and Ryu from Styles Of Beyond working on a remix together. The MTV.com articles (here, here and here) are good indications of what artists worked on remixes for the album that never ended up being on the final product, such as Tricky, Prince Paul and DJ Z-Trip. At this point, the only two remixes that didn't make the cut that HAVE been released are the Crystal Method 'Points Of Authority' remix (found on LPU 2.0) and the Marilyn Manson 'By Myself' remix (found as a bonus track on Reanimation in several places such as iTunes and in Japan). The Team Sleep remix of 'My December' was rumored to have been "too dark" to make the album. DJ Shadow is also rumored to be featured on the song with his scratching. This is one song that has come up in many discussions over the years in the LP community (shoutout to Simon from LPFuse, a former LPU moderator who used to always ask about it at the beginning of every LPU chat from 2004-2007~), especially when it comes to "What would you like to see on the next LPU CD?", roughly coming in second behind the famous demo 'Pictureboard'. Our good friend Fabio asked DJ CrookOne of Team Sleep on September 6th about the song: Fabio: "Hi! I was wondering if there's any chance to hear the old 2002 My December remix by Team Sleep" CrookOne: "Hello! @nmlssit, probably never..sorry!" The legend of the song continues as it appears that it will never see the light of day, unless somehow it comes out on an LPU CD. For discussion on more "Lost Songs" by Linkin Park, view our forum thread here.
  13. Hey do you know the current songs very well that they are playing? I am trying to do setlist notes. BelowEmpty fans have given me 3 of them that I should use. Do you know of any more? http://lplive.net/stonetemplepilots.php So far, I have Church On Tuesday having a new guitar solo at the end, Pop's Love Suicide having a new ending, and Sour Girl being the version they started playing in 2008 with a guitar solo.
  14. Thanks for the preshow post. I don't like Richard at all...no respect for Filter after they deliberately have tried to fuck 10 Years over so much. STP however is rocking.
  15. How many LP fans here are actually on board with the whole STP thing? I don't see a lot of response to the shows (not just forum replies but I mean in general) and I don't really know in general how the fanbase reaction is for Chester singing with STP. Since it's live stuff with an LP member, obviously we are going to cover it but we will cover LP as usual and put up some LP media for you LP fans that don't care for STP. I was just wondering because I don't see as much interest from the LP community with STP as I thought there would be.
  16. The STP fans said they know for a fact the band (Chester included) have rehearsed quite a bit more songs than those 17. They said they've rehearsed a lot of stuff. I do think Pretty Penny will come. Sin, that's awesome.
  17. The second show on the Stone Temple Pilots USA tour takes them to Sayreville, New Jersey on the 6th, where they will play the Starland Ballroom. This tour is composed of fourteen shows in September before STP plays a few shows in October and one in November. Filter is opening the tour, which is appropriate since Dean (guitar) and Robert (bass) DeLeo from Stone Temple Pilots had a side project at one time with the lead singer of Filter, Richard Patrick, called Army Of Anyone. Essentially it'd be like Styles Of Beyond or Julien-K opening for Linkin Park due to their involvement in Fort Minor and Dead By Sunrise, respectively. At the first show of the tour in Bethlehem, STP played a 17 song setlist that encompassed their greatest hits as well as a few deeper album cuts. Four songs, 'Down', 'Silvergun Superman', 'Sour Girl', and 'Hollywood Bitch', were performed for the first time with Chester. For the STP fans, 'Down' was played for the first time since November 16, 2011 and 'Sour Girl' was played for the first time since June 28, 2010. These join three rarities that the band added to the set at their Third Encore rehearsal, 'Sex & Violence', which was played for the first time since October 3, 2000, 'Pop's Love Suicide', which was played for the first time since April 18, 1997, and 'Church On Tuesday', which was played for the first time ever! We definitely commend Chester and STP for not going with a standard "greatest hits" setlist on this tour and for actually digging into their catalog to perform some lesser known songs! You can watch videos of almost every song from the Bethlehem show here. Thanks to our friends at Below Empty, the biggest Stone Temple Pilots fansite that has been around for many years, we have also been able to identify some setlist notes for the songs STP is playing on this tour. Stone Temple Pilots is a band that usually changes their setlists for each show by a few songs as well. From rumors we have heard from STP fans, they have rehearsed more than these 17 songs for this tour. We already know 'Black Heart' from the new EP was rehearsed, and possibly other new songs have been rehearsed as well. Do you think we will see any of those new songs besides 'Out Of Time' on this tour? Additionally, the band played 'Pretty Penny' acoustically in June (show page here) so that's at least one other song. They do know the 'All The Young Dudes' cover by Mott The Hoople too that was played at the MusiCares event (show page here) but it is unlikely they will play that song. Do you think STP will change the setlists show-by-show as they usually do? After this show, the band plays Atlantic City's House Of Blues on the 7th followed by Boston's House Of Blues on the 9th, before hitting New York. For the full 2013 tour schedule for STP, click here. SETLIST: 01. Down 02. Big Bang Baby 03. Vasoline 04. Dead & Bloated 05. Out Of Time 06. Silvergun Superman 07. Church On Tuesday 08. Big Empty 09. Sour Girl 10. Interstate Love Song 11. Pop's Love Suicide 12. Hollywood Bitch 13. Sex Type Thing 14. Sex And Violence ---------------------------------------------------- 15. Wicked Garden 16. Piece Of Pie 17. Trippin' On A Hole In A Paper Heart
  18. Yeah. I mean if they aren't songs STP regularly is playing I'll note it but otherwise I'll keep it to just STPWCB stuff. It's interesting these songs haven't been played in so long.
  19. I'll ask him to come in and take a look. - 'Down' was played for the first time since November 16, 2011. - 'Sour Girl' was played for the first time since June 28, 2010.
  20. Some interesting notes I will add to the show page for this are: - 'Sex & Violence' was played for the first time since October 3, 2000. - 'Pop's Love Suicide' was played for the first time since April 18, 1997. - 'Church On Tuesday' was performed for the first time ever.
