  1. Burn it Down's lyrics are a lot closer to the Hybrid Theory style than anything on the previous two albums, in my opinion. There's still that hint of apocalypse and impending doom and stuff, but it's kind of taking that in a far more personal direction, more similar to Burning in the Skies than anything else. It's a lot more ambiguous and universal than most of A Thousand Suns, which is more in key with their older lyrical style.
  2. The lack of certain peoples' understanding of the concept of democracy really worries me sometimes.
  3. Chester's aggressive vocals in their early stuff are so much better than at any time later. Kinda suggests to me that Warner made him tone down the edge in his voice, which is a shame 'cause the early stuff sounds so much more aggressive because of it. The lack of polish on it certainly makes it sound more raw and organic, which is definitely very exciting. I'm not as much a fan of the more hip-hop tracks as I'm not a big hip hop fan, but the rest of that era is extremely good music.
  4. Phoenix appears to actually be a dragon, confusingly.
  5. 1) Numb Lots of people hate this, song, and I genuinely have no idea why. The chord progression is lovely, the production is perfect without sounding mechanical (like elsewhere on Meteora does), Chester's vocals are gorgeous and all the melodies are brilliantly catchy. It's certainly not the heaviest song and it's not the most adventurous one either, but there's a certain understated class to this that not much else early LP has, and I think Numb gets a bad press purely because it's overplayed. 2) Iridescent The best ballad the band have written to date. Mike's vocals in this are fantastic, capturing the vibe perfectly. The song builds magnificently, and the bridge with the gang vocals sounds warmer than any other moment on ATS. And then there's the big triumphant finish, featuring some of Rob's best drum work. Stunning stuff. 3) A Place for My Head Killer riff, killer rapping, a killer chorus, just... killer. The way it all dies away and then slams back twice as hard during the bridge is brilliant, and the outro is pretty much the heaviest moment in any LP song. 4) Don't Stay Similarly heavy, with some awesome vocals by Chester. A bit formulaic perhaps, but the riff is hefty as hell and the way it builds from Foreword is great. 5) The Little Things Give You Away Still LP's most progressive song, this has great drums throughout, a beautiful guitar solo and the best vocal harmonies in the Linkin Park catalogue. Closing Minutes to Midnight in style. 6) And One In my opinion this is easily the most BADASS moment in Linkin Park song history. Chester genuinely sounds like he wants to kill someone on this, and it's thrilling. Why it didn't make it onto Hybrid Theory I don't know. 7) One Step Closer Another great riff, this is almost like And One but with slightly less edge. Still a great song. 8) When They Come for Me I usually hate hip-hop, but this is just ice cool. The percussion works brilliantly, Mike's verses are great and the outro manages to sound super heavy sans guitars. 9) Faint Probably the most fun Linkin Park song to dance to. Love the beat, love the riff, love the chorus. Live outro rules. 10) My December Really, really beautiful. What utterly makes this song is Joe's subtle effects throughout, making this so damn atmospheric.
  6. Little Things for me. It's just so much more... epic.
  7. I'd say Lost in the Echo is probably most likely, but it's difficult to say really.
  8. (8) Faint vs. (5) Waiting For The End (31) The Little Things Give You Away vs. (35) Don't Stay (Two of my favourite songs, a difficult choice)
  9. So apparently the first two songs sound most like Hybrid Theory... IT MUST BE NU METULLZ
  10. The "fuck it are you listening" bit in Blackout is one of the most honest sounding lyrics Chester has ever delivered.
  11. ELITE EIGHT MATCHUPS (17) Across The Line vs. (8) Faint (13) Leave Out All The Rest vs. (5) Waiting For The End (31) The Little Things Give You Away vs. (39) In Pieces (35) Don't Stay vs. (6) Bleed It Out
  12. I was there and agree with pretty much everything she said (except I was in the pit...) Of the three times I've seen the band, Sonisphere was easily their weakest performance. Dead by Sunrise killed the atmosphere COMPLETELY. Though it did provide my favourite drunken stranger comment of the weekend, "where the fuck did Mike Bennoda go?"
  13. You're playing a step too high in the intro, you should start on a D not an E.But aside from that, a very nice cover.
  14. It's probably partially because Incubus have a very extensive back catalogue to play from, and partially because they remain a big live draw in their own right whereas MCR have suffered a major popularity decline over the last few years.
  15. Like it or not, Linkin Park have always been a pop rock band. And Burn it Down is a pop song- an AWESOME pop song.
  16. TINFOIL IS METALLIC. IT MUST BE A NU METAL SONG.
  17. Oh, when they come for me, come for me,
  18. Lies Greed Misery - LOL. I'm interested to see what Tinfoil sounds like...
  19. VERSE CHORUS VERSE CHORUS BRIDGE DOUBLE CHORUS OUT! I hope we eventually get stems of this, I'd love to remix it.
  20. Feedback so far seems more positive than to The Catalyst. Though there are still some people who don't think there's guitar in it... are they deaf or just stupid?
  21. Loving the song. Definitely a single and unlikely to be my favourite on the album, but it kicks ass nonetheless. It is more synthpop than I expected it to be, but I love synthpop anyway and it is heavier than most in the genre. The album cover... GAH. Probably the best LP album cover yet. It's intriguing, I want to know what it represents, but at the same time it's just a great piece of artwork in it's own right. Can't wait for Living Things on June 26th!
