  1. Yeah some of those comments are pretty brutal and clearly coming from a place where they would have bashed literally whatever that remix had sounded like. They're mad that it exists at all. I saw one comment that just said "Some songs shouldn't be remixed. Ever." - Reminds me of some Beatles purists who have responded to the recent remasters, like Revolver that just came out, with immediate derision simply because they think it was perfect in the 60's and shouldn't be touched. It's like... Just don't listen to it, then. I don't like most of Recharged or the 100 Gecs remix of OSC, but I'm not actively angry that those things exist lol
  2. Mike is very in tune with the LP fanbase always, and we know he considers how anything he or the band says will be received. The band 100% knew what teasing "exciting things" and putting a Meteora tease would lead to immediate Meteora 20th anniversary box set speculation.
  3. Of course not lol. Hopefully he would appreciate the honesty as long as the criticism is civil.
  4. Even more so since, based on recent history, Mike would have already come out to shut down speculation if it wasn't something big. He's done that a few times now, most recently on Twitch when he said "anytime the band says anything or does anything, everyone tries to start up the hype train, and we're, like, 'No, no, no, no. Don't start up the hype train.' You're gonna disappoint yourself. Don't do that." The fact that nobody from LP's camp has come out and clarified that this isn't something huge to get hyped up about is encouraging.
  5. Comments like this always make me wonder if Mike ever reads LPL threads lol
  6. It’s alright. I get that Mike keeps collaborating with younger, lesser known talent to give back to the industry and set up the future, etc., and it’s admirable and all… I just wish he would collaborate with some bigger and more established artists as well sometimes.
  7. Does anyone know which show it was where Chester was sick, and after one of the songs Chester said the crowd sounds better than he does? Mike stopped him and said he was calling bullshit, and that Chester sounded great and needed to stop being so hard on himself? I always thought that was a nice moment between the two.
  8. I understand. I think it’s sad that there isn’t much interest from the band, especially considering the lack of any new material for the last 5 years with no end to that in sight. Of course it’s up to the band if and how they choose to proceed in the future. 100%. I just wish they would be more willing to celebrate their past with the upcoming 20th anniversary releases in the meantime. I know Mike has said many times that he doesn’t want LP to become a nostalgia act, but I think there’s a middle ground there. HT20 wasn’t some kind of a concession to becoming a nostalgia act, it was a celebration of a huge milestone for a record that was and is still important to so many people. The 20th and 50th anniversaries of albums seem to be the industry standard for the biggest anniversary recognitions.
  9. Didn’t Mike say that the band and label had to basically be convinced that people would care about HT20? Then they still didn’t make enough box sets and were surprised that the initial batch sold out almost instantly? If that’s their opinion on Hybrid Theory, I wouldn’t count on a Meteora box set at all. Probably just M20 merch.
  10. I get that, as fans, we aren't owed anything from the band or management. Still, though, it seems odd that there's never been an official update on these remixes. Even if the update is "Sorry guys, after some reflection we've decided to put the release of any further HT remixes on hold indefinitely," would have worked. It would still be disappointing, but it would be something to keep us informed. It feels weird to be told to expect more remixes to be on the way and then complete silence for nearly two years, leaving us to say "I guess the project was scrapped?"
  11. I second this. I found this interesting. Thanks for keeping some news going, especially in this period of unprecedented silence from the LP team.
  12. My mistake. Sort of odd it would be only on iTunes and Apple Music. They should release it on other platforms, it’s a great song.
  13. True but, chronological order of the recording aside, I don’t think they would release that song as a bonus track for MTM since it’s already released on all platforms as a bonus track for ATS.
  14. Yet according to Geki you guys have had all kinds of unheard music and unreleased pro-shot shows in the LPL vault for years LOL No but seriously, if someone really spent $10,000 instantly on that tape it's either an LP superfan, who may not be excited to publicly share what they just spent $10k on, or it was a member of the band itself or the label. I feel like I've become the "Beatles analogy guy" in recent years, but I'm going to do it again now: In 1981, a guy wanted to auction off the only recording of the first ever song recorded by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison. When we talk about holy grails, that was definitely one. McCartney personally intervened and bought it for a hugely inflated price and had the audio restored as much as possible, and then had additional copies made. The song was eventually released on the Anthology project. It's not a great song and the audio quality still isn't great, but for historical value it's really cool to hear. Similar to Pictureboard and Deftest, I would say... Would be cool if it turns out something like that happened.
  15. I would be saddened, but not shocked, if the ‘celebration’ consists solely of all LP related socials posting a message like “Come celebrate Meteora’s 20th birthday with brand new merch in the LP store! Use code (whatever) for 20% off your order!” I would love another boxset, but I think Warner and possibly even LP themselves underestimate demand for these things. Didn’t the band have to basically be talked into doing HT20? Then Warner didn’t even produce enough boxsets at first because they vastly underestimated demand. If they felt that way about Hybrid Theory, they genuinely may not even be considering a Meteora 20 boxset at this point.
  16. I think that Mike is in a "I'm 45 now, so I'll use my status now to collaborate with younger artists and elevate them" phase. I get what he's doing, he's trying to be selfless. That's a great thing. I just also wish he would collab with someone huge and well known again, rather than just trying to use his star power to elevate unknown artists. I realize that sounds harsh, but it's true lol.
  17. I understand, that makes sense. It's great you were able to make contact with him and get this information at all! There's still a lot that we don't know about that time period.
  18. Lmao I love the passive aggressiveness of this sentence.
  19. I think it's sad that we've reached a point where a new project by Mike only gets responses by 4 different people in 8 days. Some of the people who have been mainstays of LPL, who have always been here and involved with every LP and LP related project, have stepped back more and more since the NFT stuff started.
  20. Definitely “dickless clique”, and “resident beat banger”. Hard to catch some of the other stuff you didn’t already get.
  21. Landon Pigg, not Anderson Pigg lol
  22. Yeah when I was a teenager my parents used to always ask me why I like depressing angry music lol. It really is like therapy, it's cathartic and it's a release.
  23. Does anyone remember which show it was that Mike talked about critics complaining about how negative LP’s music was? I think it was one of his early solo shows, so it was in 2018. The quote was something along the lines of “it’s not about being negative, it’s about getting all that negativity out so that you can turn it into something positive”. That’s probably a bad paraphrasing but I remember seeing a video of it and I remember it being a pretty great quote, and now I can’t find it.
  24. I still can stream the originals, but only because I bought the album on iTunes when it was first released in 2007. I can't even put into words how bad the "alternate" version of NRL sounds, and the synths on the "alternate" SOTD sound super obnoxious and loud to me when compared to the original release.
  25. 1. War 2. High Voltage - the original one from the HTEP. The remix that was a HT b-side is actually amazing.
