  1. Sometimes I wonder if Mike is being genuine when he says things like "I don't even know what that demo even is. I don't remember it at all." or if he just wants to find an easy way to avoid giving an actual answer lol. We know Mike keeps his finger on the pulse of the LP fanbase, visits here, etc. He knew about PB hype. Does he really have no idea what Thoughts That Take Away My Pride is?
  2. He did it for kids on TikTok. Ever since Remember The Name made the rounds on there, he’s taken a bigger interest in that platform. I’ll look at it from another perspective, though. I think it’s dumb and pointless, yes, but then again I’ll just ignore it and pretend it’s not a thing. He released it for streaming. I streamed it once, and now I’ll never stream it again. No harm, no foul. I don’t use TikTok, so clearly I’m not in the target audience for a release like this.
  3. Maybe it’s a real release, but still a troll, and Mike will announce something real alongside this release after it’s revealed to be a joke.
  4. I’m not attacking Mike, but it’s a little disingenuous to pretend that he’s a starving artist. He’s worth many millions of dollars. I can see him doing the NFT thing because he sees it as exciting and cutting edge or whatever, but it’s not like he’s on the edge of poverty because he hasn’t been able to tour for a year.
  5. I still don’t understand what it is about NFT’s that has him so excited.
  6. Jeff Blue looks like he could be Channing Tatum's father lol
  7. “If you want me to make an album, then show me you want me to make an album.” HAHA what?! Mike... Don’t go down this path, please. I get what he’s saying, but it very much feels like he’s saying the quiet part out loud every time he says this. Like, it’s obvious that Happy Endings doing huge numbers would make an album release more appealing to the label and to Mike himself as an artist who makes a living through his music. You don’t need to literally spell that out, though, because I think it’s risking giving the perception of an album inspired by potential sales rather than for the sake of the art.
  8. Mike literally posted a pic of him with Billie Eilish a few days ago, and her brother (and songwriting partner) tweeted about the day Mike put his number in Finneas' phone. So I actually wouldn't be surprised if a Mike Shinoda/Billie Eilish collab does happen soon.
  9. This is what I was thinking. You worded it better than I did lol. I especially thought this after the Billie Eilish and Finneas photos he posted. And for the record, I'm not saying being strategic in that area would be a bad thing necessarily. This is Mike's career, and it's how he supports himself and his family. There is a business element involved with who you decide to collaborate with. I get that.
  10. Yeah the clothing is just Mike's style. It is jarring to see him alongside 20-21 year olds, though. I understand and appreciate what he's doing, using his platform to elevate younger talent, but I would love to see him collab with some more well established artists.
  11. Yeah, the band has always been like that. I respect it. They're all very protective of their private lives and respectful of each other in that way as well. They were all acutely aware of Chester's struggles and did all they could to be there for him. I believe that Mike and the rest of LP used the OML writing sessions as a sort of therapy for Chester as well as themselves. They mentioned starting the sessions with no music, and instead asking questions like "Are you ok? What's going on in your life today?" They would talk about everything, and then craft those feelings and experiences into lyrics and then eventually into full songs. I really believe that writing Heavy and Halfway Right was therapeutic and cathartic for Chester and that he was doing better after a really bad 2016. He seemed more open about his feelings which was a good thing. He looked really healthy and happy as well. Chris Cornell's passing is what derailed everything. It seemed like Chester just never recovered from the depression that followed.
  12. I miss stuff like that so much. When I was a kid I used to call the radio and request songs. When they answered I felt like a celebrity, speaking directly to the voice I was hearing on the radio lol
  13. GREAT write up! Really interesting stuff! Do we know what song Chester was referring to here?
  14. That demo honestly makes me wonder how the band and Don Gilmore reached the conclusion that it wasn't good enough for the album. That chorus is really catchy and Chester sung it really well.
  15. I remember when he insisted PB was nothing special and wasn't good, and then after the reception when it was actually released he claimed that he never said PB wasn't good lol
  16. Yeah, see stuff like this is why I didn't get when some people here on LPL were like "Wow you disliked the guy simply because his opinion differs from yours"? No. It's because he went way overboard every time LP or Mike Shinoda came up on his channels. It also makes me wonder what the "people on Twitter" were referring to when they told Mike that Fantano was actually an LP fan and liked their stuff. What album was he even referring to in this video? Was it THP?
  17. That verse is an attention grabbing part of the song simply for the fact that it's Rakim on a Linkin Park song. It's a great song already, but that verse makes it stand out even more. I never understood cutting that verse.
  18. Hahaha I forgot about that. All the band members seemed super excited and kept saying how much fun it would be to play all the songs live only to then not play half of the songs from that album, not counting The Summoning and Drawbar. I think what may have happened is that they fully intended to play all the songs live, but then they realized that in order to fit into their time limit they would have to either drop some of their live staples, which all the casual fans come to see, or they would have to do shorten even more songs to fit them in and turn them into a medley. They may have just not wanted to do either thing and THP songs were the victim of that.
  19. I very much agree. I never did like that part of THP's promotion. He shit on pop music basically and even named some examples. That was definitely odd and felt out of character for him both before and since. The most ironic part was that he spent that time talking about how music has gone soft and all that, but then the first single from LP's next album was Heavy.
  20. Some people saw THP like "Lol these guys are in their late 30's trying to make music like they did in their early 20's", then heard OML and said "Why don't they make more music like HT and Meteora?!" You just can't win with some people, and I think LP accepted that a while ago.
  21. Yeah his review of OML was fairly brutal and I disagreed with a lot of it, but I at least respect the fact that, while he acknowledged that it's tragic that Chester is gone, his opinion of OML hasn't changed. I should also point out that while his review was indeed brutal, it wasn't just a mindless hate fest like a lot of people had when OML came out. Meaning it wasn't "THIS IS POP! POP IS BAD!" Fantano is knowledgeable about what he does, so I could see where his criticisms were coming from even if I disagreed.
  22. I wasn’t saying he should reevaluate. I was saying it’ll be more a interesting interview because he won’t.
  23. It'll be a really interesting interview if Fantano stands by his criticisms. Somebody asked him after Chester died if he's reevaluated his view of OML and he said he hadn't and that it's still terrible to him. So it'll be an interesting chat.
  24. None of this makes sense when you realize they're paying that much money to have the feeling of ownership of some gif files lol but if these people have that much money laying around and Mike wants to sell a few gifs, more power to him.
  25. 1. QWERTY 2. Blackbirds 3. Not Alone I was torn between QWERTY and Blackbirds because I love both songs, but QWERTY just gets me so hyped up every time I listen to it!
