Seconded, but obviously (and unfortunately), old soft songs from LP fit ATS songs much more than their heavy songs....

IMO, the fact LP has gone very soft is mainly due to Mike's music tastes at the moment, but other part of the reason could be Chester's voice, indeed. Seriously, do you guys really think Chester could still scream and sing with agressive voice on 10-12 tracks on a single record? I don't. Yes, he's still able to do it on a couple of songs, but that's all.

Mmmh...I'm going a little off-topic here, but it would be pretty insane to hear some of the material from that "heaviest LP period in history" on LPUX...

After having listened to the whole thing 3 times, I can now say: this album kicks major-ass! Not a rock or metal, but a music masterpiece. The band was right when they were saying ATS is a journey, because it really is. Atmospheric stuff. Burning in the skies, Waiting For The End, Iridescent all have killer melodies. When They Come For Me, Blackout, and Wretches And Kings are the heaviest tracks on the record, but in a weird way. Chester vocal performance on The Messenger is one of the strongest he has ever made I'd love to say ATS is the best LP record to date, but it's hard to compare it to their precedent work. Hybrid Theory also was an epic album, but in its own genre. The level of energy and power it contained is as great as the level of creativity and musicianship put into ATS. Now, despite the fact ATS has an enorm potential, LP will have to accept they will loose a lot of fans with it. Majority of the 10-11-12-13 year fanbase will hate it for being "Commercial soft shitty music". Majority of the metalheads who still liked LP will move on to something else. And even some of the so-called "hardcore fans" won't like this new record, because, yes, it doesn't sound like LP.

Well, I failed at not listening to ATS....I don't want to give my opinion about it now, it would too early. All I can say is that ATS doesn't sound like Linkin Park at all. It's super super super super super soft, but not soft rock. This isn't a rock album.

True and false: even in this case, it spoils half of the song. I don't blame those who are listening to it anyway, just saying they shouldn't release more ATS material until the album actually comes out . We already have The Catalyst//Wretches And Kings + parts of Blackout// When They come For Me// Waiting For The End. I think it's a little too much, but maybe it's just me.

Yes, those 30 sec snippets are evil. They're like saying "Listen to me! New LP sound!" but once you have heard it, it ruins the surprise.

Welcome in the community of masochist lp fans!! Those who don't want to listen to the new songs until the album comes out but who keep staying on LP fan forums and seeing all people getting crazy. Kind of torture in fact. But we will resist at the temptation!

Nice find, indeed Weird to see LP performing with a "small" audience, at least if you compare it to the crowd in their latest proshot videos (Sonisphere, RTR,...)

Wow, that's really cool I was a little bit sceptical about the public reception of "The Catalyst", but it seems like it is turning out pretty well... Didn't you say you liked the song after its release?

It's more like 90% negative comments on some French forums, with most of the critics claiming "WTF?!?!?!! This is techno shit!!!!!!!!!", "Where is rock/metal?", "F$ck, LP has gone Black Eyed Peace", "I will re-sell my show tickets!!!",...I always though LP fans liked electronica, apparently this isn't really the case. Oh well, there will probably be an adaptation time to the new style, as it happened when MTM comes out...if not, there's a huge risk LP lost lot of fans, indeed. But risk is inevitable when it comes to experimenting with new music genres.

I really hope it's not the cover, but another pic LP is using to hide it until we actually resolve their "twitter-puzzle". However, if it's really the ATS cover, then LP has succeeded in doing an artwork worse than the MTM's one, what would deserve an award.

I would have voted for toxicbszone if there wasn't the electro-ish effect on the vocals during some parts of the song. So let's go for Theory_of_Meteora ...
