  1. Thing is though, if you listen to the Sirius XM performance, Mike seems to be singing the songs much closer to the way he sings them on the album (ie, a regular pitch). I guess the change in pitch does make the song sound more energetic in a way... I don't really consider it better though. Don't get me wrong... they are absolutely my favourite live act (otherwise I wouldn't have seen them as many times as I have, or plan to see them another 7 times next year )
  2. I think I know what you mean. I've noticed that in most of Mike's live performances. He always seems to sing the songs in a higher pitch than they are on the studio version. The only recent performance (that I've noticed) where he seems to be singing at an identical (or as close to) pitch as the studio version would be the Sirius XM performance (one of the better performances of LITE so far IMO).
  3. Pro-shot from Australia? Have I missed something? I don't think they've ever been recorded on video in Australia? I can't answer this, but I know a lot of festivals are recorded and broadcast on Channel V here in Australia - does anyone know if Soundwave falls into that category?
  4. I've got a 360, so does my bro and so do several of our mates who are also big fans of Linkin Park - we'll be doing our bit to get this thing released asap As for the video - I'm predicting the band playing in a regular environment before it crumbles (shatters) away around them, leaving them in the barren wasteland you see in the making of video
  5. I didn't think the end of BURN IT DOWN was messed up? Sounded intentional to me? Then again, my Xbox stream was almost the same as mobile phone 3G streaming ;D
  6. Can definitely see them doing an 'uber-medley' as Ducko mentioned. Interesting to see what they come up with!
  7. I'd be up for that! Kurt! We'll all have to catch up at the shows!
  8. Just as an update regarding the audio glitch I mentioned previously: I emailed iTunes support and they've acknowledged that there is a problem with the track. They advised that they have escalated this (I'm assuming to the record label), but that it could take weeks to get a response, if any. I was given 5 free song credits as compensation. Certainly appreciated, but I'm still not happy that there's a glitch on the only instrumental version available. While I'm at it, the 'pop' sound I heard on the album version of I'LL BE GONE is as clear as day on the acapella version - listen at 2:18 and you should hear a 'pop' sound. It's less obvious on the album version of the song, but there as well. Really disappointed that errors like these have made it to retail versions of the album. Did they simply miss them during mixing/mastering or did they notice them but either a) couldn't be bothered fixing them or b ) thought nobody would notice?
  9. Hmmm okay, now I'm annoyed. Is anyone else hearing the very brief click/glitch sound about 36 seconds into the CASTLE OF GLASS instrumental? I have re-downloaded the track 3 times (including difference devices) and I'm getting the same annoying static-pop sound. I had a similar issue with the album version of I'LL BE GONE (which I can hear on both the Aus and US physical copies of the album, as well as the Aus iTunes and album pre-order digital versions). Starting to think the mastering jobs on this latest album aren't up to scratch if stuff like this is making it through to retail...
  10. Bought. And that was trickier than expected to buy on the US store from outside the US - it CAN be done though Gotta say, it's giving me a new-found appreciation for some of the songs I tend to skip on full-album plays. Well worth the time and hassle to buy
  11. Precisely. The YouTube version, while definitely sufficient, isn't exactly HD. Not sure if the AXS broadcast was upscaled to HD but looked pretty clear on the uStream stream (even though that was generally quite poor). Most definitely an upgrade all round And thanks for Incubus dude. File size is no drama for me. Surprised to see so many having problems with the file size? I thought us Aussies were way behind in terms of net technology/speeds
  12. Top work dude, much appreciated And yep, would be very interested in the Incubus half as well as the Inside Living Things component - I've only been able to pay for and *attempt* to download that from Xbox Live, but it keeps downloading about half of the file and say 100%. Emailed MS support and they've never got back to me Looking forward to seeing the gig in HD later tonight once the download has finished!
  13. The very lovely (and beautiful) Eliza Dushku was also at the gig, she posted a couple of tweets - seemed really impressed
  14. I think everyone needs to remember that the Aussie Dollar is quite strong in comparison to the US Dollar, so that's going to make the ticket prices seem more ridiculous than they are. Take it from people who live here - these are cheap compared to most!
  15. I actually found it to be quite cheap! Last two LP tours in Australia, tickets were $150 each. $150 is pretty much a standard price for international acts in Australia. In fact, many are usually above and beyond this price. I remember shelling out $200 for Britney Spears tickets for my sister, $150/170 for the last Nickelback tour (who I believe are charging $150 again this time). In fact, I was really shocked that Evanescence were only charging $80/90 this year (I'm quite sure last tour was up at the $120-150 range). Gotta factor in the strength of the Australian Dollar in comparison to the US Dollar as well - ie, your new release Blu-rays work out to about $20-25 AUD for us. If we were to buy local, they'd be in the $35-40 AUD range. PS. GOING TO ALL THE SHOWS (except NZ - technically not part of Australia anyways lol)
  16. I quite like the video. To me, the people in the video are survivors of some event that has devastated the world's population numbers. These survivors lost loved ones and were never able to say goodbye to any of them - hence, they are clinging on to memories/pain/suffering and not letting them go. Gino's character comes in with photos of said loved ones. This is the only part I can't work out - whether he is there to help them or if he is some kind of demon/spirit equivalent to the likes of death. Him taking the photos that the people leave behind after they turn to dust makes me think there is menace behind his actions. But it could also be perceived that he's helping them to 'move on' - hence they look at the images and turn to dust after letting the frustration out. It's really quite clever and thought-provoking when you think about it. Though I'm not sure if a photo of me G-rated tea-bagging my brother's girlfriend takes away from the meaning of the video
  17. Haha! Yeah I was going to say I have very strong memories of hearing about the tour, getting super excited, only to find out that they weren't coming to Perth. And back then, I definitely didn't have the money to travel around to see them I also remember breaking that news to a guy at my dad's work who was hyped to see them play live. I think he literally punched something when I told him they weren't coming to Perth
  18. I think it's pretty safe to assume that they will be shooting one... as in, further down the track. I don't think there was any mistake there at all to be honest. When he said they'd shot a few already - he was referring to LITE and COG. Personally, pretty stoked with the single selections if it does pan out that way, as those 4 are my favourite tracks from the album. I know POWERLESS should be pretty huge - most hardcore and casual fans I know think that's the best song on the album. A few non-fans I've shown the song to also like it.
  19. Expecting there'll probably be Sidewave shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne - especially when you consider how quickly Soundwave sold out in those territories. AJ has already said no Sidewaves in either Perth or Adelaide (which sucks), but alas, I'll be touring the country anyway so will snap up any shows they can dish out
  20. Ok this is exceptionally annoying. I have paid for the download, yet it won't do it. It starts, but only does a couple of kb before stopping. I've tried upgrading Java, removing then re-installing Java, tried on all three main web browsers, upgraded all three and tried again, disabled my firewall, everything. Anyone else having this problem?? EDIT: Scratch that. Used another computer and grabbed it just fine. Bit of extra work but worth it, the DSP sounds great!
  21. Excellent! Great job. That was a pretty rad version of Crawling. Me thinks it needs to be kept near the beginning of the live sets (if it hasn't been dropped completely) so the band can still pull it off
  22. Surprised this hasn't surfaced yet. I heard a recording of LOST IN THE ECHO this morning but the speed/pitch kept changing throughout I'm happy to do it if it works for me - I'll be home tomorrow.
  23. Woo! 3 Soundwaves purchased, 2 to go!
  24. I used to have Nova on at my old job pretty much every day and the last time I heard a song getting thrashed on Nova (besides New Divide) was Leave Out All The Rest. I think I heard The Catalyst maybe once on Nova, Waiting For The End maybe once (which surprises me since it's such a 'Nova song', never heard Burning In The Skies and I think they may have played Iridescent a few times. This is Nova Perth though - so could be a totally different kettle of fish
  25. Very true. I've noticed that Nova seem to be avoiding BURN IT DOWN like the plague. But having said that, they're the type of station that would only pick up and play a song once it starts becoming big elsewhere; not one to take risks. They're quite happy playing 'Call Me Maybe' and any song by the woman-beater Chris Brown 6 times during a 9-5 working day however :S Triple J have lost the plot too IMO - they're essentially the indie-hipster radio station of choice these days True shame because they used to be excellent.
